- Gastric Bypass Vs. Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Individuals who are considering bariatric surgery for weight loss have multiple options. From traditional gastric bypass surgery to laparoscopic band surgery to gastric sleeve, each type of surgery has its own benefits and risks.
At Oasis Bariatrics our team of board certified surgeons will explain the pros and cons of gastric sleeve vs gastric bypass surgeries.
Typically, your BMI and obesity related conditions
are the main factors that doctors consider when recommending a surgery.
Gastric Bypass is generally recommended for very obese patients with a BMI over 45, while Gastric Sleeve is recommended for patients with a BMI over 30.
We'll help you to make the right decision when considering bariatric surgery.

I did my research about bariatric surgery, wls, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now
That was very well explained.
Thank you 😊
Thanks
Actually the gastric bypass is reversible in certain circumstances.
Gastric bypass is more effective long term.
Is it really?
@@Fantasylikemines It is, but either surgery will be effective if you do what you’re supposed to do after surgery. The bypass just usually results in more weight loss.
@@factsoverfeelings421 I’m still picking and choosing at this point. Therefore, your insight definitely helps.
@@Fantasylikemines I had gastric bypass 3 1/2 months ago. It has already changed my life dramatically. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I took medicine for all of those. They are all gone now, and I am on no medications. I take vitamins every day. That’s it. I am following exactly what I was told to do, and my weight loss has been steady and quite amazing. I was 350 pounds last June. I lost down to 308 by my surgery date on March 7, 2022. I’m now at 249. So I’ve lost 59 pounds in a little over 3 months, and 101 total. I’ve never felt better. As o said before, both surgeries are very effective, but the bypass seems to cure diabetes and high blood pressure more effectively, as told to me by my surgeon, and it produces more weight loss generally. Good luck with your journey. It’s a life changing experience that I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do.
@@factsoverfeelings421 “Congratulations! On your success journey. 😌 You absolutely deserve it! I understand that Diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol can be difficult 😞 and I’m glad that you no longer have to go through those medications. 😌
Bypass is reversible.
*reading intensifies* was so cute
The bypass is reversable?
Said irreversible.
Yes, don’t go into having a bypass thinking that you want to have it reversed later on but yes gastric bypass is reversible though not an easy surgery.
@@Black0bsidian: you are right. The narrator said both are irreversible but that’s not correct information. The bypass is reversible. The gastric sleeve is not reversible because they took a large part of your stomach out. They didn’t keep it laying around to put back in at a later date. Lol

You may sleeve but you will not loose as much weight and possibly regain because of this.
