These Empowered Women in Malaysia Care About Their Mental Health, and You Should Too

For the B40 community, mental health is never a priority. B40 represents the Bottom 40 per cent of the household income classification in Malaysia. It’s stacked behind other concerns like finances, housing and relationships. A huge barrier to that is the stigma that follows, as well as the limited accessibility and affordability of such services. Having faced traumatic experiences, Lalitha and Nur Hazreen realised that they needed help - to talk to someone, to learn how to control their emotions and to make sense of what they were feeling.
Thrive Well is helping to fill that gap in the community. With its K.A.M.I programme, the organisation provides counselling and training for its participants, ranging from children to adults. Both Lalitha and Nur Hazreen are currently at the highest level of the programme as ambassador peer supporters and are inspired to help support others who were once like them.
