From Poverty to Empowerment: Supporting Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia

Being a single mother is undeniably challenging, especially for those faced with financial challenges, societal stigma and limited opportunities. One such individual is Isham binti Ramli, who is part of Malaysia’s B40 community that comprises those in the bottom 40 per cent of households in terms of income distribution.
Determined to break out of the cycle of poverty, she signed up for the Entrepreneurial Development Programme by Women Of Will, a non-profit organisation that provides disadvantaged women with entrepreneurship training, product development skills and financial support to start their own businesses. Today, Isham is a community leader who manages a sewing centre and empowers other women to lead fulfilling and self-determined lives.
