I had Carbon Minoxide in my Dads home in 1994. Parents are divorced and I’d stay with my Dad for the summer. It was the pool heater in the basement. I woke up and felt dizzy and the room was spinning. I called my Mom and told her I didn’t feel well. She said “oh sorry baby I hope you feel better.” Then I said “ I can’t breathe.” That’s when the MOM-meter came into play. She said “hang up Im calling your Father to call 911!”… few minutes later my Dad yells “Jesse get out of the house now!!!!” With all the energy I had I ran out to the front door. Fell onto the grass and started throwing up. I do remember the moment I hit the fresh air it was the greatest feeling ever. I am truly grateful to be alive. 🙌
And you needed to wait for mommy to tell you to save your life even though you called her because you knew something was up??? I bet you vote Republican.

I just gained a ton of respect for Howard. Not once did he make light of Al's situation. He was very respectful and I felt sincere empathy from him. Much respect for that.
I lost all respect for him when he went insane about COVID. What he does himself I don't care, but having oppressive views about vaccines and such is too much.
I recall reading something Al had said about it at the time,or at least words to that effect, that he said really helped ease his anguish. Neither of his parents had to endure the pain of losing a spouse.
Al seems like a guy who would make sure that everyone in is life, family, colleagues, or fans, were happy and loved. It is for this reason that this man should receive the biggest hug in return.
Weird Al is one of the greatest people on the planet. I lost the last two of my grandparents on the same day a couple months ago (one from both sides of my parents families) and had tickets to see Weird Al the next night, I was in such a weird head space and that show definitely helped me get through that as I needed SOMETHING to take my mind off of it for a spell and Weird Al did that for me. Happy that us fans were able to do the same for him as that is an even worse thing to go through.
Weird Al and his band have been criminally underrated for his entire career. He is one of the true greats, a damn legend, and it's good to see Howard recognize that. I saw Weird Al in 1997 at the Bloomsburg Fair, and it still rates as the best show I've ever attended. Much respect.
Weird Al is a legend. Absolutely tragic to hear that his parents passed in such a way. The fact he still went on the tour afterwards for the sake of his band, crew, and fans is very admirable. I can't imagine how that must've felt. I hope he's been able to heal as much as one could.
I was at that show at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, SD. I was 15 and it was my first time seeing Weird Al. I have seen him 4 times since and he is the most dedicated, kindest person. ❤️ Thanks for all the great times, Al! ❤️
Al is one of my most favourite humans. I have been a 'fan' since his first hits on the Dr. Demento radio show waaaayyy back when. He is simply so intelligent and kind.
I remember hearing about this when it happened. I love Al so much - I was absolutely gutted for him. I can't even begin to imagine that level of tragedy and pain. :(
carbon monoxide detectors need to be treated as essential as smoke detectors. they’ve saved my bacon at least twice and i won’t stay overnight anywhere that doesn’t have one. lots of love to al ❤
Make no mistake; Mr Stern always gets the best dialog from his guests. He knows how to dig into them and get to the tough questions but his skill has vastly improved with age.
I remember listening to Weird Al on the Doctor Demento show on our car radio cruising after church every Sunday night in small town Greenville, Texas in the ‘70’s!
I've meet Al twice and he is one of the nicest Celebs you will ever meet, both times were after shows here in Australia, as he will do meet and greats for fans which is so awesome of him. But what happened to his folks is so very sad.
This whole time I assumed it was from a faulty furnace, first I'm hearing it was from a closed flu on a fireplace. Howard you are an incredible interviewer and tactfully approached a sensitive subject here.
I went out and bought a carbon monoxide detector for my parents after hearing the news that Weird Al's parents passed away from CO poisoning. Let's just say that with a fireplace in their home, it was a wise investment.
Man, I just love these 2 guys. I wasn't an early fan of Howard, maybe because I was just too young back then and it just feels weird for me to 1990's moments out of context.....I mean, I was a kid back then, and it's quite possible that back then or in retrospect I would have enjoyed his show, but it just seems to me to have changed over the years, but then again we've all changed, including or even starting with Howard Stern himself, but whether you love him or not, one has to admit that he probably is one of the, if not the, best interviewer we currently have. Having him interview such a unique and intelligent artist as Weird Al (some of you may think I'm kidding, but I'm seriously entirely honest here) really is a privilege.
