Hi Shelley, I’ve got a brand new (still in Ford parts box) Cortina 2.0 fuel pump that I bought and never used about 40 years ago still sitting on the shelf in my garage! If you or one of you club pals can use it you are welcome to have it, I don’t want anything for it so let me know and I’ll stick it in the post. Great episode and as I am still a very keen Ford fan I’m also subscribing to this build. Very best regards buddy.

Hi Phil. That would be awesome. I’ve no idea if my fuel pump works but it looks quite beaten up. I can’t take it for you for free so let me know what you would like for it.
I have some more footage which will be uploaded asap :-)

@@ShelleysCortina Hi Shelley, I won’t take anything for it but you can mention my first name at some point in the future if it turns out to be useful! (Let me have an address and it’s yours buddy (or your email and I’ll respond). 👍

They look like they are tack welded on. Not too difficult to remove i guess. I’ll keep my battered one then as a spare to replace in future

its nice to get something extra with parts it keeps the cost down,if theres any rust at all on the wing rails on the car i would personally fit the new ones it would be faster and you will know theres no danger of rust returning in a short while.

Blimey Shelley you’ve made a heap of progress really getting going now I’m impressed. I was amazed how good those rubbers looked you pulled out thought they’d be all knifed up but they they weren’t ! I’m after some crap wings and a crap bonnet for something I’m making ( not a car restoration) if your interested in parting with yours at some point let me know please 👍

Thank you :-) Not sure what to do about bushes. I just assumed mine are so old that they were only good enough for the bin. New ones do seem pretty expensive. The Poly bush set is not too bad if bought as a complete set but some people say they give quite a harsh drive?

Also, once I’ve sorted out if I can make 2 good wings out of my 4 ones, you are welcome to have mine

If you popped the ball joint with the spring in the pressure from the spring helps them pop,

good progress. do you have an battery impact driver? if not get one, make light work of rusted bolts especially once parts are free from the car .

Nice to see your still keeping at it, I expect you found the clips on the sub frame were "tabs welded on to it" to hold the pipe work, so not removable lol, I like the way it comes across so well it is your first Mk.3 and all completely new to you, and you don;t really know what your doing, but still manage to do it, eventually, (we all had to learn! when we got our first Mk.3), so I love watching you, as it takes me back 46 years to when I bought mine, and looking up things in the Haynes & Autodata Car Manuals, and doing the same, but the satisfaction of it turning out OK, with the odd mistake along the way is all part of the fun, and when the car is finished, she will look lovely, and you can say to yourself I did that, with help or advice from us fellow owners when needed. looking forward to your next video, all the best till then..

Thank you :-) I've done a fair bit of filming since last summer but never seem to get the time to edit them and upload to RUclips!
The learning is the best part - in the Cortina University - which is you guys, the various Facebook groups / club forum and PeteC's RUclips collection!!

I really want to get my components off too. Unfortunately I had no time before when I was welding the car. I have polybushes to go in but removing the front springs scares the crap out of me. My ball joint splitter had the same effect lol and I had to grind off the rivets on mine. Yes a tripod will be your best friend, excellent film.

Hi Simone, Yes, if you are ok with having the car off the road for an extended period, then its gonna be better in the long run. Just be warned that a fully stripped car doesn't half take up some storage space! I did get a tripod which you shoudul start seeing in my next films. I have a bit of a backlog of footage.
With the springs, don;t do what i did on my first one - just angle grind it off. that could have been curtains!
the three pronged device i used is pretty safe if you go gradually and equally. even if one failed, the two others would hold it.

@@ShelleysCortina I don't think I will be able to get the parts powdercoated but fitting the polys and painting the parts for me would be the best option. I have found a workshop where I can get the rear panels replaced, so will probably do both at the same time.
