  • Work done on a 1976 Ford Cortina Mk3 2000E during the summer of 2022. The car shell takes a backseat whilst i rebuild my mancave into a garage - mission : stop the rust!!!
Experimentation with rust converters & different primers on the inner wings. Results - Etch primer & Red Oxide has kept the rust away, whilst the car has been outside during a hot summer with very little rain. The Fertan treated opposite wing, followed by 3 coats of epoxy primer has not!

Hi Shelley, Really good to see your car is now inside, it will make life so much better, as you can work on her in any weather, and less chance of it rusting, if the heating is on in there, and your making good progress, the new shed layout is grate, enjoyed seeing this and many thanks for the mention on the end credits, most kind, and very much appreciated ,

Thanks Keith. I'll keep you updated. Gutted about the epoxy/fertan combo not working. The Fertan seems to be re-rusting in only a few weeks. I've now done the slam panel with 2 coats and i can see rust underneath there also. Etch & Red Oxide seems to be doing just fine!

Wow! Shelley you have been busy, love to know how you make the time? Do you also work full time? I’d love to try something like this (not quite as a large project) but think I will have to wait until early retirement!
Keep up the great work & look forward to watching you work indoors on cold winter nights🥶

Yep I work full time, have kids etc so time is very limited. Spent all summer just modifying the shed! And still not quite done. But looking forward to warm winter nights in there. Next to build a sealed off curtain area and install an extractor fan so I can sandblast in there

Nice job car doesn’t look to bad to be honest either I’ve seen a lot lot worse Rome wasn’t built in a day bud so onwards and upwards 👌👍

Great progress on your shed modification and not a bad space to work in. Did you carry the shell down the side of your house to get it on the back garden?
