Want something good? Legion with shield shunts and reckless officer with point defence skill. All mounts with point defence such as heavy machine gun, devastators and vulcans and one mortar in the small slot so the AI registers that it has actual weapons. For fighters use xyphos. What you get? An absolute fearless monster that behaves like a low tech ship should. It not only has good range but also dps through the roof. No ship shield can handle the damage that 5 heavy machine guns can dish out and devastators are incredibly efficient anti armor weapon. If you use the Legion XIV instead of the davastators use Hammer Barrage. Fill the hull mods with obvious things like anti emp, more armor, maneuverability etc It breaks an onslaught in about 25s counting from spawn in the sim. Point defence weapons are incredibly flux efficient and have insane dps. They are way stronger than any other weapons. Shield shunt is a must for big low tech ships in AI hands. As it makes the AI disregard its flux level and keep charging at the enemy. I can pit my legion against 2 onslaughts and a couple other ships at the same time. And my legion will win.
I've been using this strats 2 weeks since this is released, and I have to say, you could clear end-game content with this, from [REDACTED], [SUPER REDACTED], modded end-game content from Knights of Ludd, UAF, or R.A.T. It melts everything.
It reminds me of my Hyperion build without SO from the previous patch. Yes he makes holes on the enemy ship every time. The cooldown and flux are bad with phase lance, but excellent accuracy even on fighters.
Great video, thanks man! I wonder, since we're talking rare ships, could you make a fleet that incorporates the scarab? It's a funny little gremlin of a ship, and I've noticed it's quite underused.
Not a bad strat if you are gun shy. I prefer to head into battle, to test out different weapon configurations. I know that most people don't pick the Tri-Tachyon Brawler because the Luddic Path one is so OP, but I have found an amazing build for one of those that uses the Ion Pulser and Ion Beam. You have the side mounts as LR PDs and you are ready to rock. For the loadout, I tend to put efficiency and hardened shields, that way when you get close you take less overall damage without building too much hard flux. At heart I am a Low tech fan but I do enjoy Midlines and High Techs at late game. The Hyperion makes for an excellent cover frigate due to its speed and skip ability.
Nice build...any tips on where to find the number of hyperions this requires? I don't think I have ever seen one for sale, even with the Try Tech Military (of which I am an ally)
Thanks, Hybrasil is mostly where you can find them with Tri-Tach. Also bar NPC, contacts or random pirates. I saw some independants selling it but it's rare.
did this just recently and outfitted all of them with phase lances and reaper typhoon launchers with the expanded missile racks. i can reliably dump all of them into battle and just leave to go do something else.
@@socute8947 It is pretty good for certain setup. Let's say you dont want fighters on your Prometheus mk2, then you have 3 free dmods with fighters and the other 2 are easy to counter. The big downside is RNG but you can use Dmods Services mod and pay for what do you want. You save a lot of supplies for the cost of fuel and crew. High Tech has a -20% armor dmod which is pretty good too.
Hello, Atlas is for more storage and Prometheus is fuel. Normally it's enough but you can adjust your need if you play a big map. Because they are capitals, they can hold more and also have better bonus with some hullmods. It can cost more on supply or fuel but in the endgame, money isnt an issue.
@@MisterG_Gaming thank you so much for replying! And yes I was wondering if there's something that prevents getting more, seems like not really. Going to try this build in my .97 game, pretty excited, thank you for making this video!
How crucial is system's expertise? I found a lvl 7 officer with all the other skills, plus elite on energy weapons master, field modulation, gunnery implants, and ordinance expertise. Would it be worth keeping this captain over a lvl 6 one with systems expertise?
Since you can have 15 other Hyperions around your level 7 officer, I don't think you'll really have a problem guarding him. Systems Expertise gives 10% less damage, in addition to having a better phase teleporter. Knowing that the peak performance time is really low (plus Delicate Machinery) the 10% helps to survive in a battle that lasts 5 minutes.
@@MisterG_Gaming Thanks for the advice, one other thing if you dont mind but do you reccomending swapping one heavy blaster with a cryoblaster if I find one?
Mercenaries and AI cores count as ''officers'' for skills but they don't in the limit of 8 or 10 max officers. Like I explained, hire 10 officers first, level them up, and turn the last 2 in your list to mercenaries (see skills section). Every 2 years, you will have to pay 1 Story point for each mercenaries to keep them; there's no limit of how many you can have. Hope it helps.

The condition of the ship makes prolonged combat and chases difficult, but it's worth it... it's very strong build
