Antaeus is a true gem! I bought it blindly and fell in love at the first sniff! So so classy and masculine, it’s a fragrance i would wear in the Oscar ceremony.
The GOAT Jacques Polge makes the list twice with Antaeus and Coromandel. So many of his perfumes are completely timeless. I really hope he has one more in the tank before it’s all over.
I always really appreciate the work you put into your reviews, Omar. Your opinion of Fahrenheit is one of the few that I strongly agree with. Strangely, I don't detect the leathery petroleum accord that many people find polarising. To me, it has a certain floral and spicy note that I can't quite put my finger on. I find it very nostalgic and it makes me think of my dad, even though we aren't on good terms and I also don't recall him ever wearing Fahrenheit. I consider it a clean yet somewhat mysterious fougere, suitable day and night pretty much all year round with perhaps the exception of summer daytimes. This may be one of the few that I consider a bottle for life.
I never see Carlisle on these "polarosing fragrances" lists. It definitely is. It gets a lot of hype online, but if it didn't I guarantee very few people would reach for it.
I think it's because when it comes to this scent profile Mancera's Red Tobacco is much more attainable therefore mentioned more often. And that is regarded As a polarising scent.
Fahrenheit Dior and Ganymede Marc-Antoine Barrois are definitely in my top 5 fragrances of all time. I get ganymede can be tricky to like but never understand the hate on fahrenheit.
Great list. I really need to try some of those classics like Fahrenheit, Kouros and Antaeus. I still have a test sample of Encelade and I sprayed it on a few minutes ago. When I got it I did not like it, but this was almost a year ago and I was not really into niche perfumery. Now it's different and I can definitely appreciate it a lot more. It's not something I would wear, but it's very unique. The rhubarb accord is so distinct. I think it can be quite overwhelming, because it's so strong and you usually would not associate such a smell with a fragrance. Fruity, green, earthy, woody and sweet is what I get from it. I would not mind smelling this on someone else.
I own Encre Noire A l'Extreme and I don't think it is bad or even that polarizing, however I find it extremely formal. It's something like your best suit: You don't wear it casually, and when you do it's not necessarily for funsies. But it's good to have just in case. I don't use it particularly often because my lifestyle doesn't require it, but if you are for example a regular church-goer, or often attend formal events like marriages or funerals, it is a very easy recommendation. Almost a no-brainer.
Got A L’Extreme. Toy Boy and DHP. I find myself reaching for the OG Encre Noir more because while it’s more linear and less complex it feels more versatile (and some of the older woman at work love it). Toy Boy is a great 3 season dumb reach for me. DHP is a masterpiece and always considered for special occasions.
The encre noir al extreme was one of the early additions to my collection and defo very unique. Got my eye on shuhrah but when i went into my local arabian shop they didn't have it and bought daarej instead and quite happy with that. Need to give it more wearings as i picked up honour and glory at the same time and not enough days at the mo to give proper trials. Where anyone finds the oppos to go through that many scents, even without siss.y.spraying its a challenge.
Moschino Toy boy. I have tried this. I am not a fan of most rose fragrances, I'm not a fan of this one. But I don't know how they did it, but to me it smells unique. Like they managed to capture not only rose petal, but the leaves, the stem AND the thorns. A very thorny, green smelling rose fragrance.
hi omar, i know its probably out of your wheelhouse/taste, but id love to see your favourite feminine or unisex fragrances. dont get me wrong, i love a good manly man fragrance but sometimes i want to wear something a bit softer or sweeter and id love to see what you think
The only one mentioned in the video I dislike, because it clashes with my skin chemistry and has a fecal note, is Kouros! Thanks to you now I know not to try Antaeus!☺
I dont think Dior Homme Parfum its that polarizing and i could in a way catch some aspects of sweets. Also DHP is leagues above DHI and its weird to me thst they are in the same line, maybe because i even prefer dior homme 2020 over dhi.
Dior homme parfume doesnt even last 4 hours for me, so please consider longevity for different skins will differ, hence i target maximum longevity in perfumes
@@SchoolOfScent it's definitely a high heat scent. And there is a phase before it dries down where the sandalwood and musk do that horrid fuzzy smell. But once it dries down it's really smooth. Unlike most of Zoologist fragrances.
I am starting to get the feeling that Noir De Noir by Tom Ford is polarizing ( on a guy ). Or maybe i just lack the confidence to ”rock” it? It is also so loud it even made me self conscious at a goth concert ( three sprays ) If any place, that should be the one where it fits in. Kinda sad as i really like it….and it wasn’t cheap.
Xeroff 40 knotts-i have now-very nice greal longevity 8-10hrs... Truly an unisex fragrance... My boss wants it for herself. Heyyyyy I'm trying to help... Lmao 🤣
Toy Boy as a masterpiece is crazy work! I know scent is subjective but sheesh! Coming from a guy who owns Toy Boy, it’s very synthetic and nowhere close to a masterpiece IMO
Riddle me this: how can a 10/10 anything have tonnes of people who don't like or understand it? Surely by virtue of being perfect, most people would at least like the fragrance. Kouros was resigned to the medicine cabinet in heaven 20 years ago. How did it end up on any list is beyond me
@SchoolofScent on the contrary....10 out of 10 is objective. Perfection is not up for debate. At least, that is my interpretation of the word. I get that there should be some wiggle room, which is why I said that at the very least, most people should like something if you ascribe that rating to it.
Coromandel is not channels best fragrance, It's super harsh, extremely balsamic, bitter kinda florally sweet fragrance, I am getting 0 compliments, in the office -this fragrance stinks 😷 I think that Sycomore is No.1 O M G brother!!! Insane complement getter, extremely Woody, Earthy, Crazy Aromatic Bro just go and get that sh!t
Yeah I’m sure the most popular fragrances of all time, that continue to be sold for decades by the biggest brands in the world, are a 5/10. And you judge OTHER people’s taste…
XERJOFF BUYING GUIDE: (1) Best Oud Fragrances: Ceylon, Alexandria II, Luxor (2) Best Fresh Fragrances: Uden Overdose, Torino 21, 40 Knots (3) Best Sweet Fragrances: Naxos, Ivory Route, Fars (4) Best Overall: Richwood, Pikovaya Dama, Kemi.
I gotta admit, I HATE some of these (honestly a fair amount of them) but from a creativity and longevity perspective they certainly fit the description and I cant do anything but respect that (even if they’re not my favorite smells on this planet)🫡
I heard that anteaus doesn't last long as it used to be... Is it true? Tried it at chanel store but only on paper strip and I loved it... But for the the price point and it getting less performance, I'm being torn to buy it or not🥹
Antaeus is a true gem! I bought it blindly and fell in love at the first sniff! So so classy and masculine, it’s a fragrance i would wear in the Oscar ceremony.

Give the xerjoff man ,his xerjoff's guide.
I got Antaeus at full retail 4 months ago. I am so glad i bought it, it is incredibly classy and unique. I don't think this will be my last bottle.
At least we know you hate Xerjoff fragances
Why?
@@SchoolOfScentcoz a guy has been asking for a Xerjoff buying guide for ages 😂. Check your comments on the previous videos

Disagree. Omar has several times talked very positive about e.g. Uden, Naxos and 40 Knots

I haven't found any PDM that works on me.. and I've tried. All don't last. I wanted to like Oajan and Herrod, but nope.
It’s more challenging than Layton sure, but only in the opening really, the first ‘Polarising’ PDM I would think of, would be Kalan
@@SchoolOfScent there are a few imo, but Carlisle is the most popular I could think of.
I think it's because when it comes to this scent profile Mancera's Red Tobacco is much more attainable therefore mentioned more often. And that is regarded As a polarising scent.
You’re not going to find many people who think Carlisle smells bad. IMO the dry down is about as mass appealing as it gets for a strong winter scent.
Fahrenheit Dior and Ganymede Marc-Antoine Barrois are definitely in my top 5 fragrances of all time. I get ganymede can be tricky to like but never understand the hate on fahrenheit.
i really really like Encre Noire A L'Extreme, it's the first fragrance that helping me towards enjoying a darker scent.

Thinking of trying the Dior Homme Parfum. I love GGRP so it might be similar but different enough for me to play with.
DHP is very different.
@SchoolOfScent even better then, less redundancies
Fahrenheit the first years it came out was a sensory bomb, the violet had combined beautiful facets.
It was great , now it smells good.
I wanna try toy boy bcse ive recently really wanted a rose fragrance but most options are niche and i cant afford them.
I tried Antaeus and i litteraly think it stinks. I think my nose is just not refined enough yet to enjoy that kind of scent.
Instead of COROMANDEL, I would suggest RICHWOOD from Xerjoff. Same vibe, but clearly more masculine, a luxurious fragrance for the real gentlemen
Need to try it 🙂
Iv got both and prefer Coromandel over Richwood. Coromandel is definitely a masterpiece
yeah for Coromandel, Le Lion, Noire A´l Extreme and Toy Boy
Was there anything here for the summer? Also a high heat/ humidity list would be nice, hailing from the Caribbean...
I love Dhaarej but want to try out Shurah 🙈. Any other fragrances with a similar DNA?
please do a video explaining all perfume concentrations. I often get confused with parfume de extrait and elixirs
Sir, till now no one has been able to suggest an alternative to the discontinued Axe Africa deodorant. I think you might be able to help.
Overture Man by Amouage is so underrated and a Masterpiece IMO. You have to try it
Agreed. I just find it to be unwearable in many situations. I’d probably never finish a full bottle
Thanks for doing an "not THAT snob" list.. hard to accept Kouros, but good choices!
Kouros is one of the greatest fragrances ever made. Top 3 masculine ever as well
I used to wear blue jeans. I think most people didn't appreciate it. Sad cause i loved it

Why? They use different animalic notes, and it’s easy to try in Department stores
How's the current formulation of Antaeus? Buy current or worth finding vintage?
I have a recent bottle and I think it’s great but of course I haven’t tried vintage

Givenchy Gentleman 1974
I blind bought Encre noir extreme.. I don't like it , smells mature and like straight tea
I think the dirtiness of Kouros and Antaeus comes from a spesific musk, not an animalic note and that might be Tetralide.
