I sprayed Kouros on my bald spot, now I have a pony tail 👍
Leeroy Brown 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The funny thing is: no matter how bald you are, you can always grow a ponytail! LOL
Kouros still "The King Of The Hill".

Quorum is my fav now. Am I that old or just stuck in a time warp😨
Same here. RIP dad...
Wow, my Dad's too but he is still around trying to get him into some new scents. 😊
Seen that one in tj maxxs afew times..im looking forward to that review!
Drakoir Noir was the beast of the 80's!
This was the era when perfume companies created perfume as art form, not from focus groups with formula cost limited by corporate bean counters. Perfumes were bold and daring, and years went by between perfume releases. Companies were more willing to take risks. Imagine YSL creating a brand new pillar fragrance today that smells like Kouros, in the era of Sauvage, Dylan Blue, YSL Y, etc. The outrageous number of flankers produced now is no more than a pure corporate money grab, pandering to our constant desire for the "next big thing". The perfumes reviewed here are indeed classics that have stood the test of time.
Or, maybe companies are supplying the public with what it wants. It's not a money grab but rather, people are willfully paying for things that they desire. If supporting the idea of "perfume as as art" is important to you, buy from a niche house that shares your values. Is charging more for niche perfumes a money grab? Business have to compete and be profitable by offering products people want. If YSL came out with Kouros today, it'd do about as well as Tom Ford's Noir Anthracite --discontinued. I'd say approximately 90% of today's public likes the smell of YSL Y. What percentage would like Kouros? Maybe half? Maybe.
@@JeffroJames It is a corporate money grab. I mean obviously it's a business and they need to make money but like many industries nowadays the focus is on maximizing efficiency and generating the largest amount of income for shareholders that's possible. Usually this results in a loss of quality. Most of the IFRA nonsense is just pandering to corporate interests under the guise of public safety. They pass regulations so companies can conveniently just use cheaper more efficient synthetic chemicals rather than using higher quality natural ingredients which cost more. This is just one example of how big money negatively affects the consumer. I understand that when it comes to designers sold in retail stores they have to release things that please the masses but there are other ways to accomplish that as opposed to rehashing the same old tired blue freshie formulas. When kouros came out it was a huge hit maybe not with everybody but with ALOT of people. What has changed since then? We have the same noses as we did back then so why can't it be done today? Companies would rather make a competitor that focuses on simulating a fragerance that already has commercial success as opposed to CREATING something original. That's why we see stuff like the monteblanc line. We shouldn't have to go blind buy niche brands to discover something interesting there should be more variety within the designer market. It's just simply safer for them to push out the same old tired formulas as opposed to taking a bit of a risk and being creative. All this is occurring AND at the same time they have the nerve to raise the cost while lowering the quantity of product. Like I said this isn't unique to fragerance it happens everywhere in many different ways. Consumers need to start being more demanding and hopefully the rise in niche perfumery will encourage designers to follow suit.
Wearing Aramis Havana for the first time today. Girlfriend is telling me i smell like old man. She hates it. I dont care. I love it. LOL.

Who agrees with me that Ash from Gents Scents here is better than Jeremy Fragrance?
Everyone who isn't 17 years old I think
I wouldn’t compare them. Each one has a different style and audience. The both have a lot of knowledge but Jeremy audience is more juvenile and entry level . Ashton is for the intermediate/advanced segment of the community. Even Jeremy recognizes Ashton as one of the best reviewers currently.
Both are great for the community. I like ash for real information and jeremey for the vibe

Drakkar Noir, such a classic, I can still remember from my clubbing days going into the men's room and freshening up my scent for .25 cents from the cologne machine LOL great times!!
Wait, what? There was a Cologne machine in clubs back in the day?
@@Mgyuh Yep, you would get 3-4 sprays, there were usually 4-5 different scents
www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/l2iaef/this_cologne_machine_in_the_mens_room_at_a_truck/
@@MgyuhRight? Say WHAT?! Please tell us more. How would that even work? Did the machine drop 5ml decants?
@@oceansoflorewi no, you would put .50 cents in the machine, pick what scent you wanted and put whatever you wanted the scent on next to the little spray nozzle, a few seconds would go by and 3 little squirts would come out, about the same as pressing an atomizer.
i own Kouros. had many bottles along the years. I found that the new reformulation is less potent compared to before. but still a beast. wife loves it.
your right
Polo Green and Drakkar love - dont care if its outdated, Kouros one of the most offensive frags out there - use at your own risk, Azzaro just a total classic.
More vids like this please! Anything that includes scents not being talked about by every other reviewer is an automatic watch for me
Fahrenheit is my absolute Favorite!!! I'm almost obsessed with it glad to know that the 2016 release is closer to the original. If I could afford it I, I would seek out a vintage bottle!!! I just love it!!!
Polo 'green' is iconic. Started the fragrance craze for many of us 'back in the day'. Most of us are now in their 50s. Complimenting this on your bureau to get ready for school, work, or date night back then would also be Drakkar Noir and Azzaro (pour homme).
Ahhh Polo my love 💚💚💚 Polo to me is basically what Drakkar is to you Ash. A great video man. The classics always bring a tear to my eye. From all the memories.
Ash my man being in my early 50s you really took me down memory lane, Respect my man & Greetings from London
PS Polo Green I absolutely loved 😉
Polo green makes a great deodorant
Try Afnan His highness green if you like polo green
It’s funny how times have changed Polo Green at the time was just unbelievable now there are just so many frags to choose from. How about Aramis 900 was that not early 80s? Or maybe late 70s? Used to love that one also & also Jazz remember that one 😂
@@peterstylianou3827 my pappou (i know you are Greek) wore polo green all the time so automatically i love it since it reminds me of him. I was born in 89 so not familiar with those but cant go wrong with originals
Thank you for this wonderful video, Ash. I really do love Drakkar Noir the best but I also grew up wearing Polo, Quorum and I think I even owned a bottle of the original Kouros at some point in middle school or high school. I'm looking forward to your modern version of this video since I seem to be acquiring a new love for fragrances of all kinds in my older years. Again, thank you for everything that you do.
Kouros is fantastic(and antaeus the bit cleaner version)! But I love and have everything on this list! Great video Ash! Keep them coming!
All fragrances that you mentioned are in my collection, now wearing Fahrenheit. Thank you for this video!
Me too, just now
Literally every single one of these takes me back to my 1980’s first experiences with fragrance (I believe they were still called aftershaves back then😊). Only the Blue Stratos/Brut/Old Spice my Dad used to wear takes me back further. Thanks for the memories Ash 👍
Definitely agree on Fahrenheit, and love my vintage bottle. It's a fantastic scent! This video brought so many memories, as I used to own Drakkar Noir and Polo Green, too! Even though both Fahrenheit & Drakkar came out in the 80s, Drakkar wins as the official scent of the 80s (for me). 👍
Enjoyed this topic Ashton. Davidoff Zino is one of my favorites.
zino's great
I’m so happy you’re gonna review Quorum. My dad used to wear this back in the 80s, and I always thought it was to masculine. Now I’m 38 and getting back into fragrances and I wanna buy a bottle and look forward to your review. It only like $15 for a giant bottle on Fragrance net.
Loved me some Aramis too!
loved that you did Antaeus. this was my go to scent. I had to find an older bottle to get the original scent. I believe they reformulated it to a more citrus notes.
So glad you mentioned Versace l'Homme as it is one of the least mentioned old school classics, as reflected by the comment section. Can still pick it up in England for around £25. Nice vid!!
Excellent vid. You should do a Part 2, because there are so many great frags from that era (and the 70s too). Fahrenheit was my fave; I wore it all the time, as well as Obsession for Men, Boss Number One, Antaeus, and -- I'm ashamed to admit -- I went through more than one bottle of Joop Homme.
Great review! Hands down, the best fragrance reviewer👊🏼
Loved this video Ashton! I was moulded by the 80's what with new wave music, big hair, macho muscle men in movies and big in yer face fragrances! I have owned or still do at least 4 on that list of yours. Look forward to part 2 of this with what your dad and grandad wore those days. Do include YSL Jazz and Pour Homme, Givenchy Gentleman and others . Cheers and be safe😷
Great list. Farenheit and Drakar are the kings of 80's and instead of Kourus I prefer Grey Franel, just remind me my grandfather
Kouros is one my favourite scents. I used to wear it back in middle school. Also, it was a big part of my childhood as a lot of my relatives used to wear it at family gatherings. I might get a bottle in the near future.
I picked up Antaeus last year, new formulation, and I love it! I just wish I could wear it more often. Great video!
My all time favorite from the 80,s!
Thank You for the List and Video 😀
Pleasantly surprised that you included Antaeus. Love that.
Do you know any cheaper fragrances similar to Antaeus? If so let me know.
Quorum was the first fragrance my Mum bought for me back in about 1987 then I was a Drakkar Noir Fanboy from about 88 onwards and it was my signature scent for many years..Both classics...
Nice trip down memory lane. Two of my favorites years ago were Zino Davidoff, and Aramis, real lady slayers!
I would add Aramis range of fragrances from the 80s... Tuscany being my favourite. But my very first fragrance I bought was Henry M. (City and Country - I loved them both), from a German cosmetic house of Betrix. Great stuff! Nowhere to be found nowadays.
He just couldn't help himself .... Just had to mention "it" for the sake of nostalgia :)))
Fab video again mate :)
Great viddy, Ash. Great choices too. The OG Fahrenheit was one of the first fragrances I ever owned. When I was in high school, I worked at JC Penney in the jewelry dept (doing watch repair stuff). When it was slow I would walk over to the fragrance dept right next door and smell all the scents. The Fahrenheit, ADG and Cool Water were the first 3 I bought, and my addiction took off from there. And Polo Green? My dad wore that a lot, and I always liked it. I don’t own a bottle, but I do own an EDT of Stirling Green, which is Stirling Soap Company’s take on Polo Green and I might even like that better. I own the shave soap and AS splash too. Smells classic, masculine, and awesome. Thanks Ash!
Great top 5! I own 4 of them and I had Anteus back in 1984!
Would love to see your take on Antaeus in a separate video! I just got a bottle of it yesterday (manufactured on 12/21 according to batch code) and man, what a beast of a fragrance. The opening turned me off at first but once the lavender, myrrh and oakmoss comes through in the drydown, it's oh so resinous and dark. Very daring scent.
Great list! I would add... Zino Davidoff! Thanks!
Van clef pour Homme is one of my personal favorites and he’ll yeah looking forward to that quorum review 👍🏼
Great video ash 👌 being nearly 50 🤫I've found myself going back in time to all the scents that started my journey there's alot to be said for nostalgia 🙏
Loved the video! But please Ash, I'm sure you've heard this one before, don't shy away from Kouros in the heat. As someone who loved using it during the colder months, after trying it on hot days I love it even more now. The heat burns away the harshness of the aldehydic character you mentioned, it smoothes out the harshness and it mellows into a smoky, incensy animalic beast, it turns into something magical. Now Kouros is pretty much a summer frag for me.
That is true. Still only takes two spritz.
Lapidus Pour Homme is in the Kouros camp and I love.. great vid dude
Lapidus is fantastic!
I'm glad YSL Kouros made this list. I wore the eau de sport in '87. I picked up a vintage bottle in 2015 to take a trip down memory lane.
Great topic! 👍
I wore all of them from middle school to collage, my favorite was Drakkar, also Lapidus, great fragrances, great memories.
Love the Classics!! Fahrenheit is the 🐐
Surprised Aramis wasnt here.
Also cheered up at the mention of RL Chaps. That was my dads favorite, and honestly that was quintessential 70's Ralph Lauren - it was stuff made for cowboys.
Aramis was excellent in the the older formulation. The current Aramis is still acceptable and I keep it around.
Blast from the past . . . very interesting list !
Thanks for sharing . . .
Great video man.
Nice, looking forward to that review of Quorum. Wore that fragrance quite long ago when adolescent, I think my father wore it and I followed suit. Same with Azzaro Pour Homme. Also wore Drakkar Noir back in those days :) Have not smelled Quorum in so long, should get a bottle to see if I get some deja vu. Never wore Paco Rabanne pour Homme but I have tested it recently, I'd probably prefer it over the others nowadays.
Favorite from the 5 listed ones for me would be Fahrenheit, then Drakkar Noir. I have never purchased Farenheit but before this Fall I hope to get it. I have owned a number of bottles of Drakkar Noir, also of Azzaro pour Homme, and Quorum, but no plans to order either one right now. I might get Paco Rabanne pour Homme at some point in the near future though.
Cool vid 😎 I thought my love for the old school fragz was merely a personal thing. So I never expected to learn that there is actually a large number of people who are also big fans. They smell so different than the new stuff but I already made up my mind to wear them despite what people think 😌
Great list and I enjoyed it and i like ralph lauren polo green and drakkar noir and I'm going to try the other fragrances and have a blessed day
Polo green my favorite nice review👍
All powerhouse fragrances. Great! !!! Thanks for the review ☺
Man I use to wear Drakar Noire all the time . I wore it in elementary school myself. Still love it today.
That Polo Green was the must have for me back in the day.
The best opening to a video every!!! hahahaha... Drakkar Noir was definitely not a surprise.
Great choices. the epitomes of masculine fragrances.
Freaking love Drakkar Noir and will bust it out and unashamedly wear it.
Hey, another great video! Have you ever done a battle of the car fragrances...Bentley vs Ferrari vs Maserati vs Jaguar, etc.
I think it would be fun and interesting...And something no one has done yet...What do you think?
I wore a lot of the Polo green back in the 80's and loved it (so that's probably my fav on this list). Also wore Drakar Noir, Coolwater, Calvin Klein Obsession, Eternity and Halston Z-14...ahhhh, the 80's. :)
Actually my favorites were two of your honorable mentions. Paco Rabanne Homme & Versace L'OHMME, both are amazing & timeless scents to me
LOVE WHAT YOU’VE BEEN DOING.. PLEASE KEEP IT UP!!! CANT BELIVE NO CALVIN KLEIN FROM 80’ or 90’s.
What's up with that? Based on my love of obsession, I've decided to pick up all of the major Calvin Klein scents. I just ordered Obsession Dark 2 days ago. Still awaiting delivery. Oddly enough I noticed a young guy in his 20's wearing a calvin klein hoodie at work today. I saw a young lady in her 20's wearing calvin klein stretch pants. It's like calvin klein is starting to experience a resurgence like champion. Prior to these recent sightings, I haven't seen anyone rocking calvin klein gear much. The fragrances are very affordable, so I plan on getting the eternity flankers, of which there are 8 total. Also escape, and euphoria.
Sentry WHAT SITE CAN I GET FRAGRANCES FROM THAT ARE ALL OFFICIAL?? GOT SEAN JOHN UNFORGIVABLE OFF A SITE .... SO CUT UP DIDNT LAST AN HOUR. HELP PLEASE!!!
Quorum is amazing! My dad's pick, it's unbelievably cheap for the smell!
'81 was a great year in scent
whats your favorite from that year?

Love Polo Green such a great masculine scent!
It’s an amazing scent!! As well as Drakkar. Sooo many memories with those two for me!
Safari I always liked. The bottle is so cool.
Picture to your video reminded me a bit of Robert The Bruce from Braveheart. Great List!
Your observations about Kouros had me rofl 😂 - perfect for that night at the music festival btw
I love Drakkar Noir as well, that's my Mom's favorite lol 😆
This is a rare treat
I agree Aramis is my old school favorite my dad had it, Also I liked Bijan, lagerfield photo and Joop
Polo green, drakkar, and Fahrenheit are my favorite classic colognes.
KING KOUROS!!
Caron Yatagan is also amazing classic
Have had Kouros, Drakkar Noir, Fahrenheit. Kouros is king for me, as it was possibly my first signature scent 🤷♂️
Ralph Lauren Polo Green reminds me SO much Givenchy Gentleman (1974) and YSL pour homme (1971).
I need to get a bottle of Fahrenhiet might even go for the jumbo. Shyed away from it because I heard about the gassy note but I really don't get it that much. Love the hay and leather dry down with a bit of florals.
Boss Nr 1.Oh ,so beautiful!!
Lately my top 5 is
1: Prada Lhomme edt
2 Ysl Y eau de parfum
3: Prada Luna Rossa Carbon
4: Paco Rabanne invictus legend
5: Guerlain Lhomme Ideal parfum
... if you have any recommendations based of my favs please let me know. Just got carbon and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Sporty and not as sweet as some of the others I own.

Fahrenheit it's one of my favourites parfums ever. Had no clue it was so old!
Thank you for this video! I would like you only to remind you to my favorites, Armani Uomo from 1984., Gucci Nobile from 1988., Krizia Uomo from 1984. and especially Ted Lapidus Pour Homme from 1987. Greetings from Serbia!

Honestly Fahrenheit is so timeless, it smells modern even in 2020.
That was a difficult list to put together I couldn't have kept it to only 5 I wd have needed to put at least 10 into it (ofc u needed to honorable mentions :)) I would add Jacques Bogart Furyo, Caron Yatagan, and two I still kept on my shelf is Zino Davidoff, and Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui. Have a nice day everyone ! This was a great list Im looking forward for the next one!
I wore all of these in the eighties!!
You should do a review on Polo Modern Reserve! It's my favorite!
Just snagged a bottle of Fahrenheit. I can only remember sniffing samples back in the day, as I was too cheap to buy a bottle. Should have grabbed this stuff way sooner!
Quorum , loved that one .
my dads drakkar was the first scent I have ever met.
and when I grow up I bought it in milan. my first fragrance what I bought...its absolutely amasing
Not sure you knew that because I'm younger my dad wore Polo green, but you're 100% correct
Thanks Ash. Polo Green and Drakkar Noir
My hubby still uses Obsession, even though, now is edt but still performs great, at least 6 hours.
I know you may ban me from the channel, but my favorite fragrance out of the bunch was not Drakkar Noir, but Dior Fahrenheit. Imo that stuff smells AMAZING, and I have never personally gotten the gasoline accord.
Great review man! Love KOUROS.
Can you tell me please what batch code is the bottle in the review, I want to know in what year it was produced.
Thanks.
I'm not a fan of Kouros or Antaeus (just too animalic for me) but Drakkar Noir is truly fantastic, a must have or at least must try for any frag-head (doesn't smell dated to me either). Cool video btw, cheers!
