This is still the very best green man scent in existence (Gucci Envy coming in second). I feel people see this as outdated because green scents aren't a thing anymore. It's a shame because this fragrance is pure mother nature and life- something humanity needs to get back to.

No other fragrance resonates with me like Polo “Green”! This fragrance is my love affair! Wearing this fragrance brings back so many happy memories for me! I own 6 completely full bottles (3 of which are 8 ounces), one of which is a vintage bottle. I also have Safari and Crest, along with Chaps and Chaps Musk. Polo just makes me happy! It’s manly and HEAVENLY for me! I love what it represents. Ralph Lauren was the quintessential American “underdog” from humble beginnings and his story had always motivated me since I was a 7 year old kid not even really knowing his history but loving his shirts. As I got older, this guy and his fragrances and clothes literally changed my life toward fashion and style. I don’t care about fragrance “compliments” . A man’s attitude, confidence and aura draw the ladies! Just my “two cents” as a 51 year old guy.

You were 5 when it came out, I was 13 and I have loved it and used it for 46 years (my parents bought it for me when I was a teen) along with James Dean (The first teenager) influenced my life the most with Woodstock being in the mix (I was 4 when my parents took me) I remember because of V8 movie footage that my parents took of us (they didn't go around nude, so I can watch it) but lot's of hot teenage guy's did and it made me realise I was gay at age 4, so I grew up happy not worrying about being gay so thanks to Polo, James Dean and Woodstock I don't care what others think of me, I'm me and don't care if you don't like me, plenty do! POLO THE ABSOLUTE BEST FRAGRANCE EVER 100/100 THE ONLY ONE FOR ME 💯

I own a couple Warner Cosmetics bottles, had to pony up for the one I purchased. That said, a scent that brings a lost loved one back to life is priceless.
Vintage polo green reminds me of my grandfather. I still have a little left from his original (large) bottle, but every time I smell it, I think of him and it brings me back to my childhood. Sometimes I’ll just smell the bottle (like a weirdo), without applying.
    Thank you for the video.

In high school this was our the Holy Grail. Unfortunately it was only really available to the wealthier students. We all sniffed the air green with envy. That scent was accompanied with acid or stone washed Guess jeans rolled up at the ankles, Gucci loafers no socks, Polo shirt, Gucci or Swatch watch. Louis Vuitton wallet back when they were $200? Now $500-700. Times have changed a bit.

Hello Good Sir. I see this was published a year ago in 2021. Im glad I found this review. You did a fantastic job and held my attention till the end. Being born in 81’ I had the pleasure to have my Uncle Merle wearing this true Icon of our era! I recently bought the 4oz Spray and the first thing I did when in put a spritz on was inhale deeply, eyes closed, and for a moment I realized this is not EXACTLY as my brain recalls the true original. It’s truly amazing what a scent can do. It took me back to the mid 80’s being s little boy, looking up to my Uncle. The next thing that happens was pure emotion. I cried. I cried because we just lost him this last July (currently 9/28/22). He died too soon. And we are all at a great loss. But the beauty is that all I have to do is wear this this and it’s like he is right here. This is dedicated to him. Thank you again for your perfect review. I look forward to more. I think my next bottle will be Fahrenheit by Christian Dior. Can you review Swiss Army Classic?

Awesome video Dan. I remember this from high school. Great fragrance. It has been reformulated and does not have the kick as it use too. Hiya Dan-
Of course I'm late to this party... But there's something I wanted to mention...
I always loved the Polo Original back in the Eighties.
Since original bottles have gone up so exponentially in price, it's almost like it's become an unnecessary luxury.
But I found a juice from the company BELCAM, called "Classic Match".
    It's actually NOT BAD.
Nowhere near the ball kicker that the original Cosmair is... But really decent.
The opening isn't as rounded, the mid is a bit clumsy... But the drydown is excellent.
Unfortunately, the Belcam juice doesn't perform QUITE as well as the original, but nobody can complain about it because it only costs $16.00 U.S. !!!
    It's available in a 2 ounce bottle.
It's perfect for everyday wear... I'll be sad the day that Belcam discontinues it.
    Cheers

On rare occasions, the movie is better than the book. Sometimes, the copy outlasts the original, and sometimes the reformulation is better than the original. The new Polo Green EDT is one of those. The old formula tended to go "stale" after several hours of wearing it, albeit still pungent. I like the new formula better.

Great review! I wore many of the powerhouse classics in the 80's: Chanel - Antaeus, Aramis, Oscar De La Renta - Pour Lui, Quorum, Givenchy - Xeryus, Hugo Boss - Number One Black, CK - Obsession, Giorgio - For Men, Kouros, Drakkar Noir, Azzaro, Grey Flannel, Roger & Gallet - Open, Lagerfeld, Chaps, etc. Funny, I have a decent sized collection today and enjoy a wide variety of fragrances but something about this one just didn't ever agree with me in the olden days. One thing was for sure...you didn't overspray! I have the new version today, it is considerably mellower.

I wore Ralph Lauren Polo as my primary cologne for 20 years approximately and switched to Cartier Declaration the year it came out around December 1998 if I recall correctly. At that time I had a 4 ounce spray bottle of the Cosmair bottled Polo that had about a fourth left in the bottom. I got dug it out of dark storage and it didn't age well. It still damn near smells better than the load of crap they are putting in their bottles now but still nothing like a fresh bottle back in the late 80s or early 90s did. I'm just going to continue wearing my Cartier Declaration and hope some genius doesn't muck that one up. At first Cartier Declaration was dicey because one bottle would be great and the next batch while not foul by any stretch of the imagination didn't smell like the previous bottle. For that reason I started buying multiple bottles at a time. Now their quality control must be much better because I haven't got a bad batch in many years.

I don't own a Warner or early Cosmair version, but I do have a late 90s version that I was lucky enough to get in a splash bottle, full, for less than $100 and it is better than the current formula - there's more Iso E Super or something that makes it smell woodier and seems to stick to the skin for longer and it has what Polo Green fanatics refer to as the "mentholated pine" note that the newer variations lack. It doesn't have the big oak moss though, which apparently was massively reduced by the 90s.
It's a great DNA though. Dua is apparently dropping their inspiration of a mid 1980s bottle this month according the Mahsam, so it'll be exciting to try that one out. I have Vintage 1978 by Alexandria and that one is excellent actually, but some have criticized it for being too smooth or "unisex", but it's a gorgeous fragrance on it's own regardless.

Their 60's-70's stuff can be cool and a bargain. Ironically, watches are how that company got it's start. If anyone on your side of the pond has ever heard of Sears-Roebuck, I should say.

I've been thinking about adding Polo, but that blurb could have said, "worn by society's worst kind of parasite." Not the kind of guy who drives an A Reg Ford Fiesta and works for the council, which was me circa 1990.

I don't understand why Safari discontinued when Polo green should've been the one to discontinue in the first place as it's a lot stronger and would be more something I'd probably give to my grandpa LOL the polo green but all that matters is what you like and what are ur tastes in perfumes.

Dumb silly sport - not even a sport at all really, as far as I'm concerned. Bloody damn silly mellee. I much preferred RUGGER. Especially when there was a monsoon falling and everyone went rolling around in the mud. ...Now I'm 'Australian' for real. And I have no class at all. Thank god. ...I prefer women's Aussie Rules. @@MrSmelly1977 you are right. I'd agree it's up there with the best from the 70s but I'm always scared of hanging my hat on one fragrance when it comes to stuff like this... as I'm liable to change my mind in the next 5 minutes.
Have you ever smelled Loewe Para Hombre/Pour Hombre

Banning oak moss because only 1% - 3% of people are allergic was ridiculous. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
