Up til Christmas 2022 I was a big time chronic nail biter. Then as a Xmas present my sister Samantha made an appointment for me to have acrylic nails. When they were taken off I had quite a good nail growth and since then I haven't picked at them or even been tempted. So now instead of biting my nails I've become obsessed in a good way and love the way they are looking and there's a certain pride in it and I'll deffinately never bite my nails ever again. BTW love the channel. Keep up the good work.
I am a nail biter and have been getting my nails done for the last couple years in HOPES they will grow out strong. They don't, and this video explains why. When techs here do my nails, they don't properly fit the form, and they certainly don't pinch, so when my nails DO grow, they grow back very wide, crooked, and then narrow at the tip so they break, and I bite again. I decided to start doing my own nails and this video is beyond helpful. Thank you so much for helping me!!!!
Thank you for such in depth videos. It’s okay some videos teach us how to do things, but when you explain why things are done the way they are, it helps make much more sense, so thank you!
Your videos are priceless. I am opening a 1 person nail salon, with the goal of showing people that nail services shouldn't hurt, and they should be comfortable with raising the standards required of their nail techs. These videos are fantastic at not only a refresher after taking 2 yrs off of doing nails, but also at building up my passion again for the industry. I hope to leave a lasting impact on my community that builds a new foundation of trust between clients and their nail tech. They need to know that my #1 priority is to protect the integrity of their nails. With your excellent social media presence and beyond excellent products, I hope to soon be able to convert to a salon using 100% Young Nails products. Thank you for continuing to update your products to keep up with new trends, and also putting so much effort into your videos. These are priceless for those of us in the upper midwest without easy access to continuing education classes.
Yaaaa Buddy!!!!!! That looks AMAZING!!! Thank you Greg, as always I’m constantly learning new techniques from your videos that REALLY TRULY have improved my technique so much!! Thank You!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you - this is just what I needed. Have been struggling with clients with bitten nails. Going to put this into practice today!! Amazing natural looking nail :) :)
This is so cool and informative! So happy to have found this channel. Now I have a better understanding why and how nail techs do what they do. Almost makes me want to learn how to do my nails.... 😊☺️ Keep it up!
This is just perfection 🥰 I'm 8 months in since I qualified and I've had my own business for 6 months now. I'm now transitioning from tips to sculpting with forms. Must admit it's feeling abit overwhelming please tell me it will get easier the more I practice 🙈
Looks like I'll have to get the right type of forms to do this on myself. Thank you so much for the demonstration. I'll definitely be referring back to this when I get ready to do my next set. I do have a question not related to this. I have carpilltonnel in my right wrist and arm. When I'm working on myself, that whole hand goes numb. I've tried wearing my brace while putting on a set, but it made to where I couldn't get a good grip on my brush. Amy advice to help overcome this? I'm doing my own nails because I'm on a pretty tight budget right now.
I don't bite my nails, but i do have extreme acrylic/tip damage. I figured it was time to ditch the tip and brave the sculpt; so of course, I came straight to #YoungNails! While searching new leopard designs I stumbled upon Greg's video about tha tap, press & bounce pearl technique, as apposed to the drain, drag and (hopefully) bead "method." I was ecstatic! Ive been doing my own acrylics for almost 25 years and i cannot believe how little i knew!! Hey Greg, thank you so much for your innovation, thorough explanations and "hands on" demonstrations! Lol, rhyming unintentional, just natural, thanks again Mama Salo and sons!
I did a form once on a girl who had really really short bitten nails and her nail beds were wide and very short. after a few days she comes back with one of them popped off. What are some reasons that could happen because I did prep them and clean them.
Im a nail biter and I try to avoid going to the nail salon because the ladies I would go to (a local shop) they'd ALWAYS say something negative about it. I know nail biting isn't a great thing but it made me so much more self conscious about my nails! I've started doing my own dip nails from home so hopefully it helps prevent me from biting and picking at them!
There was a little product missing from the side wall did yu add more to it or did u file it ? Because it sometimes happens to me and idk if I should add more or file it please help
Gosh that so good luv the detailed information and explaining. So this don't need a fals tip? Impressive. My client has same bitten nail and I have stopped doing acrylics due to cost but she is telling me to do this. So stuff I have hydrator primer pop bonder. I have gel builder, I'm not sure if arcrylic powder get old but I have that too. I have mask nail forms will any of these items work. Please can you respond as I only have till tomorrow please I will really appreciate it if you can let me know. My clients nails are same as your models. I was thinking of pitting tip on but I don't want to make the client uncomfortable I think this method is much better. I used to do nails but I always went straight in without knowing why damaged nails are damaged and apply tip and only tip. I am gteatful that you share this information as it is very educational and it's a better option to fix bitten nails. Please can you put it in order for me Thank you
Question for you Greg. How soon would you pinch the nail if you are doing a sculptured set? Do pinch one finger at a time? I will be using your Core acrylic and monomer.
What type of nail is this ? Absolutely love the video . I'm a beginner and looking for ways to do dip nails on my bitten nails (mine look like hers in your video)
Every time i try the form on my nails i can see that the free edge is straight after the acryle is dry...it makes me crazy the nail doesnt have a half circle in free edge. What is the solution Thanks
Are you using the odorless acrylic to create this nail? I struggle with that product because it sets/hardens too quickly for me to sculpt a nice thin shape. Thanks so much for videos like this, I learn so much!
I have to say this is one video that i really gotta work on because I am a nail bitter lol i have to admit it. 😥but i am working on it.The way you show us how to put the form is gonna help me a great deal. I can do my left hand but 😳i have trouble with my right hand i cant do it right my hands begin to hurt when putting acrylic and when filing. How do you do it so that the nails come out even????
@@youngnailsinc I just graduated from nail tech school and just binge watching everything. But what I really love about you channel is that my 9 year old boy wanted to get gel nails and I allowed him to get one short pro-press full cover with peel off base on his non-dominant thumb. And he absolutelly loved it, and asked me if boys can have nails too and offcourse I said yes. But then he asked if boys can become nail techs too, and your channel was the first thing that popped in my head and said yes offcourse…or not boys, but men are also nail techs and showed him you guys ☺️ So thanks for that 🥰
The heavens just opened.. this is exactly my issue. I tried using hard gel for the first time. I used poly gel 3 times and called myself graduating to hard gel. I thought I needed to cover the gaps on the side with the free form and didn't pinch my nails properly resulting in Fred Flintstone toes on my fingers because I made the free form look flat. Question - Can i use the poly gel on top of the free form vs the plastic forms? I found i can apply the poly better because it's thicker as the ibd clear gel is a little loose. Btw I purchased YN protein and slip. Loved it no lifting on my nails and the slip cleans excellent. Practice practice.
Protein bond helps ensure you don't have any lifting. If you don't have it, as long as you are prepping correctly and thoroughly, you can still have a set last.
If the skin is not broken/bleeding, you can still provide a service. If you are wanting to apply enhancements, we recommend sculpting the nail out with acrylic. This way, you can mold the product exactly to the small natural nail and the acrylic will be bonded to the whole nail. If you use a tip, the glue can break down and make the extension pop off easier than sculpting the whole nail. When sculpting on a bitten nail, you may need to customize the form to fit. Here's a great video to show you how! ruclips.net/video/ZHby-oWTlwQ/видео.html
Yes, however if they have an extremely bitten nail. We would recommend building them out in acrylic until they have some length on their natural nail. Then switch them to gel
You can still apply hard gel on bitten nails, but here are some alternatives. You can let them know the first time would be with acrylic since that acts as a cast for the nail and will help grow it out and then fill the nails with hard gel each time. You can also build the free edge with acrylic to get the c-curve you need and then the rest of the entire nail with hard gel.

Why not cut a deeper curve at the free edge and/or slit the form at the curve to get a closer fit? Fewer steps? ... I like your technique and believe it’s always good to have options to refer to, AND, knowing which to use according to the need. Thank you, again. 😊
Protein Bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product.
@@danahgow9946 no, you can use it with hard gel too. We also use it with gel polish on the natural nails. If you soak off gel polish then just on the tips of the nails. If you e-file gel polish then over the whole nail
of course! check out our video on customizing forms it really shows you how you can make it work. Even if the nails are completely bitten part way down the nail bed to where the skin is bulging at the end of the finger. Sculpting is really the only way to put enhancements on nails like that
So in all the videos i've watched i've never seen you pinch? Is this the only case you pinch? When is pinching needed? Also why do you always use cover pink? #iwannabelikegreg😂
You can however depending on their natural nail sometimes it is best to start shorter because with a severely bitten nail there is less of a nail plate to anchor the enhancement to.
Protein bond helps ensure you don't have any lifting. If you don't have it, as long as you are prepping correctly and thoroughly, you can still have a set last.
I love how he takes time on explaining every little detail. Little details that makes huge difference when done right.
