Due to the crazy world right now I have recently started doing my wife’s nails since she can’t go to the salon right now. Been watching a lot of you videos to pick up the knowledge to do them nice and safe. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Omgoodness I'm so grateful for these videos the nail community takes care of eachother, periodt. Love the support and everyone's ALWAYS cheering eachother along. Sharing ideas and tips... I love 💅 ❤
The YN library is AMAZING! Talk about a nail encyclopedia! Coming back to rewatch this ..... I love acrylic, its my enhancement of choice! I have all this gel....I think its time to learn how to apply it. ♥️
So glad I found this. Currently started doing my daughters nails vs the salon, because it’s safer, and costs less money, and anymore, they don’t do cuticles or manicures, and I can. This was super helpful!!
This is why you guys are the best! That tip about creating a well to help with heat spikes, then to allow to build your apex, its gonna make me fall in love with gel again, as it what has been putting me off with gel but im gonna give this ago. Thank you all for your amazing channel, its so appercaited that you guys share so much, cant tell ya how much your videos help xx
I know this is an older video...but WOW Greg...that technique about dividing the gel up was brilliant! I have never seen anyone do this technique and I just have to say it's brilliant! Another technique I'm swiping from you! 🧡💛💚💙💜💗
Seriously so amazing to watch a guy do nails!! My cousin is an Ambassador for Young Nails in Cape Town South Africa and she does the most amazing nail art!!! Great product you guys have 🙌🙌🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thanks so much. I'm learning a lot from you guys. I recently enrolled at the Toni and guy academy here in Erie PA. Only to be let down by not having enough instructors to teach in the evening. It's convenient for me a working mother who does want to put the hustle as a legit businesses. But in the right way. So now I have to wait. But instead of being real with me. The call that was made was said that there were not enough students. Bullshit. We all work and can juggle school too. But y'all got me. So thank you YounNails
Wow! I should of watched this video before doing gel nails. I had a hard time trying to even out the gel onto my nails. Definitely going to try the split method on my next set of gel nails! Thanks for the tips! It’s very helpful!
Wow so happy I stumbled onto this video. Want to try my hand at doing my nails myself because I keep overpaying nail techs here in New York City for the product to lift 3 days later
🙌🏽👍🏽🤣👍🏽🙌🏽 Time & Time again I just love watching you guy's work & the way you put the salon finish on it by topping it off with the oil finish makes clear nail polish look so 80's 🤣
Thanks for posting! Just in time... I'm waiting on my order of synergy gels and very excited to get back to gel after 8 years. Nice to have a refresher. Can we have more synergy videos please?
I love your technique...i just started the nail tech course yesterday..super excited...am going to be practising a lot with your techniques...thanks for sharing
Question....is there a difference in strength and durability between lengthening with a tip vs using a form? I've been under the impression that tips are not as durable because glue breaks down in water, creating a weak spot. Is this true?? Great video! Thank you
Never done any nail sets (YET!) and I literally been watching all of your videos excited to get into the nail world thank you for making great videos ! I’m ready to Tackle this lifestyle now
Loved how in depth this was! I’m definitely going to try this! I just moved to a small apartment and so acrylic isn’t really an option as I don’t want it to smell up the place. I’ve used I.b.d brand gel before and prepped my nails as I always do but for some reason some would come off the next day if I knocked it against something (never had that issue while using acrylic) or while I was doing my nails and started filing them I noticed lifting, like there would be a white area and it was lifted it was so frustrating and I haven’t used the gel since. So hopefully with this new information it’ll help me.
Can you make a video or insert a spot in a video that breaks down pricing of what a set of nails would cost? Like what Greg or Tracy would charge for a set of nails you show, why, and break down cost? I think that would help nail techs know what to charge, and us consumers to understand what its worth. ❤
@@carolcharles4869 Carol they have a video already about that. I watched it tonight actually. It is on their Nail Biz talk show I think that's what they call it. If you search here on RUclips you will find it. Tracy's starting full set price starts @ $90 & goes up accordingly from there. Not sure what Greg charges but probably very comparable to her pricing. I mean if they work in the same salon. Which I am guessing they do. I am new to their videos. So I am unaware of all of their details. However I've been watching them non stop now for a couple of weeks Lol I hope this information that I've given helps you out a bit & answers the questions that you are seeking. God bless

I want to ask that do we use hard gel to equal the gap between half tip & the nail right? & the first thing u used was hard gel right the clear one? I have been confused over this from many months now.
You would use hard gel in the same way you would use acrylic. You apply it over the natural nail and the tip as well. If using hard gel, you want to make sure you are prepping the tip like the natural nail as gel adheres better to a textured surface. 1.Why is my shellac chipped after 2 days? I did everything right 2.Do you always have to wipe the upper layer of gel when it's done? 3.Is gel in this box the same as "gel in the bottle"? 🤔
Great questions! 1. We can't speak on shellac specifically as it is a product from another brand and we don't test other brands. We can say that typically if there is chipping, it comes from not properly prepping the nail. Let us know what you do step by step and we can see what is going on. 2. In this video, we are using hard gel so you want to remove the tacky layer after curing so you can remove bulk and shape the nail. When using gel polish, you do not want to remove the tacky layer each time. You only want to remove the tacky layer of the top coat after curing if your top coat has one. 3. Gel in the pot vs gel in the bottle would be on a brand by brand bases. Many companies, like our synergy gel in the video, use pots for hard gel as it is often too thick to be used from a bottle. Hard gel is similar to acrylic because you can use it to build extensions. Hard gel is non-porous so it cannot be soaked off in acetone. There are many companies who use pots for soft gel (can be soaked off) like thicker building gel. We use pots and bottles for our fiber gel because some people prefer to use a different brush to apply from a pot than the brush that comes in the bottle. Gel polish, used for color, typically comes in a bottle. There are more specific art gel colors that come in pots, like our mission control and cream clay colors. We would recommend checking with the company or other people you know in the industry before purchasing so you can be sure if it's a soft gel or hard gel. Here are some videos on hard gel and soft gel: ruclips.net/video/LFykeb6GC2Q/видео.html ruclips.net/video/McvVnrFm6vI/видео.html

Hi thanks for the video and it really help. Also I have a few questions, after applied the fake nails tips on, do I need to put this hard building gel on to make the nails stronger? Second question, once I put the building gel on, do I need to apply the base coat then put the color on?
To answer your first question, yes you are adding the hard gel to build & strengthen the nail (as you would if using acrylic). 2nd question as long as you have not removed the inhibition layer (sticky layer) you could proceed with gel polish & top coat. However most people removed the inhibition layer to shape and file the nail after hard gel application so then in that case yes you'd want to add a base gel coat first then proceed with gel polish and top coat.

Is a primer/bond necessary before applying the builder gel?
Karmesha Mason I heard yes ...... same for acrylic but the gel needs a special for gel one
Base gel is diffrent from builder gel (pink)?
Thank you very much, you explain all very clear, easy to follow.
That base gel is a game changer! There’s nothing like it
If you don’t have experience with an efile? What can you use to remove shine from the nail plate? A buffer?
150 grit file, a buffer will leave the nail too smooth

1.Why is my shellac chipped after 2 days? I did everything right
2.Do you always have to wipe the upper layer of gel when it's done?
3.Is gel in this box the same as "gel in the bottle"?

2. In this video, we are using hard gel so you want to remove the tacky layer after curing so you can remove bulk and shape the nail. Hey Greg I have a question. Why did you apply protein bond on top of the gel right before you applied the gel top coat?

will working on one hand not over cure the base on fingers done first?
You will not over cure the base

I always wondered what does that lamp do to the nails besides drying the gel or polish?
Is before applying cuticle oil the best time to begin applying the colour gel client wants on their nails?
Why do you use a small brush instead of a size 8 or 10 brush ? Is it better to use a smaller brush for gel polish compared to acrylic powder?
Is that a regular finish gel used at the end? Or one special for that type of application?
What is the name of the base gel he used ? 😊
It's our Clear Base Gel from our Synergy Gel line (hard gel).

red gel on top that way removal and reapplication is less of a process
@@youngnailsinc on top of concealer pink ?
Would you file a clear tip as well ? Or would you not because scratches would show ?
Yes, when applying gel to a tip you will have to ruff up the surface of the tip or the gel will not adhere correctly
Where are these tips from? ❤️❤️
they are available on our website
When we were in school we were taught to blend the tip in where it meets the natural nail till you couldnt see the seam, which required lots of extra time. You weren't overly particular about this. Does it just depend on the tips you use? Seemed to take forever which is why I shy away from doing extensions 🙈
Yea I think it depends on application and the tip
So for hard gel you apply one coat of protein bond instead of two as you would for acrylic?
We always recommend 2 coats after prepping the nail
