I was going to say before it was asked the hybrid gel is perfect for beginners or those who like to do their nails themselves. The gel doesn’t actually harden until you cure it under the UV/LED lamp. So you can easily wipe it off if you make a mistake and just take your time with it unlike acrylic which can be unforgiving. Also, using alcohol instead of monomer equals NO HARSH SMELL! Major bonus!!! I haven’t tried it on tips yet but definitely will be doing this ASAP. Another great video!
I think it’s essential to choose a hybrid gel with a stiffer texture, like “Polygel”, or IBD “Control Gel”. They handle like a perfect bead of liquid and powder acrylic, but like dominique said, you get all the time you need to work it, before you put it in the lamp.
Hello Suzie, I know that I have already commented on this video earlier but there is so much more that I'd like to tell you to let you know how much you have helped me and I'm sure I'm speaking for many other ladies and gents who have appreciation for your many many informative videos. Just so you know, nail tech school in the US only trains you to pass the state boards. They don't even have you use a drill, certainly not anything as advanced within the past 15 years,. lol
Suzie I’ve been seeing “fiberglass” nails and there’s two types the fiber bristles and silk fiber. Can you do a review on them sometime and tell us what you’re opinion is on them. I find them interesting but i don’t know how practical they are as in durability.
Those type are old school type of nails. Usually used to repair a broken nail or instead of acrylic. I love them wish nail salons still did fiberglass nails. They’re a bit more time consuming too. All in all I agree, I’d like to see her take on fiberglass nails.
When I was in cosmetology school back in 1985, getting extra hours for a full license in another state (got my cosmetology license in 1979), I decided that I wanted to take the nail class, too, because I love doing nails. One of the special classes we had was by Backscratcher brand. It was a nail tip with Stick'r, a layer of fiberglass and then Kick'r ( Stik'r, a resin and Kik'r a setter that burned like crazy and smelled like grapes), a whole system. What a blast from the past, although they still make it, along with a dip system and other things now. So, it's not new really but if you can do them right, they can be just as strong but are better for shorter nails. I suggest the fiberglass wrap, it has more strength than the silk, at least IMO.
@@brittanakenlock4114 I totally agree! I was talking the old school types of silk or fiberglass nails, as are a couple of others that have commented. Because of you i want to do my own nails! I had so many horrible experiences at the nail studios in my town and i can't deal with that no more. So i started to watch videos. When I found you, I finally felt confident enough to buy my own nail stuff. Thank you for that
I love using hybrid gel for my nails, I find it to be the easiest way to get fabulous nails. I don't use tips, I build them out myself. I would definitely recommend hybrid gel system for beginners.
i just found your channel. i'm 74 and earned my license in 1973 when we used dental porcelain/forms/and hand filing ;0). One of my first jobs was rep-ing Tammy Taylor products (she was working out of her garage at the time) she was on the cutting edge of pink and white products. It was so much fun. and a wonderful product to work with. i'm thrilled to have found you. Great tutorials. ps. okay, i'm back doing my own nails. yippee skippee.
I want to thank you, Suzie, because I've learned so much from you! I went to school to learn nails a long time ago but because I worked for the school, I don't think they took me seriously and didn't teach me very well. I had to leave it because my eyesight got bad and I couldn't see the imperfections we'll but I still love to do nails. I think this hybrid gel is going to be perfect for me and along with everything I have learned from you, I will be able to make beautiful nails for myself. Again, thank you for all you have taught me!
As a man. Learning to do nails. You have been very very helpful as a side thing I jumped into it head first I've used my own hand to practice on. I've tried the poly and acrylics. I like the acrylics. Over the gel. But I enjoy learning and you've helped me so much. Thank you thank you very much. I bulld cars for a living but I'd like to add to what I know and can do.
Can you use more products that you can purchase/use with out being a certified nail tech?! It’s hard to find great quality products without having the certification
You can always purchase products online that certified techs use without the certification. I buy all my products on amazon and I have used many forms of hybrid gel.
Cjp and naio are great . Naio its harder to file so in my opinion it's better for people who are neat applying product. If you r still learner and you application it's not good then i'll go for cjp it's so easier to file. Although i'm professional and my application is neat i do still use cjp just because i was training on it.
I don't do my nails (nail polish and other things on my nails drive me crazy) but I enjoy watching your videos because you have a soothing voice! It's like watching an asmr video.
Thank you Suzie. Trying hybrid on my next mani. Love the colors. I can't wait for the collaboration with Kirsty!!!!! Neo nails and you? WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just discovered you. And your videos are so helpful. I’m a cosmetology student. And I’m interested in the nail field. Watching your videos helps me learn something new. Thank you so much! Your voice is also calm to hear.❤️💅🏻
It’s funny because I got a kit of polygel and ended up not doing the dual forms and instead using nail forms and using the hybrid gel to freely sculpt like you do here with slip and a brush hahaha. All your tutorials are so helpful I love playing them on loop while I’m sitting here perfecting my nails :) thank you!!
Thank you..u are a very good teacher i love how u explain what ur doing and its clear and easy to understand ..and ur voice is so calming i like how ur not loud screaming into the camera and you dont just rush thru it..i enjoy watching your videos ive learned alot..thank you very much
It’s gel because you can take your time but it acts like acrylic because it isn’t goopy and doesn’t stick to your brush. I hate that about gel how it’s all stringy and gooey. This is AMAZING!
I am super bad at cutting the tips all the same length so I use a nail form, put it under the attached tip, choose a length number and cut it to that length. I do that on each nail on the hand! Perfect lol 😂
This is the first I've heard of hybrid gel nails. Questions 1. How is the strength compared to acrylic? 2. Is there and odor like there is one with acrylic? 3. Do you get lifting?
The odor is that of isopropyl alcohol, in almost all systems that’s what’s used; although Happy Gel, Max Estrada’s brand, uses their low-odor monomer as the slip solution-that smells like acrylic.
Wow! I've done nails for 40 yrs, just got my hybrid, tried one nail, unbelievable....I'm in awe, so easy! This will end alot of gals paying high dollar for services, if they practice just a little! I still love my acrylic though! Thank you
Hi beautiful Suzie, I have a tip for you 😉 when gluing on tips on yourself, start with your pinky finger and work towards the thumb. They won't be in your way 😉 love your videos😘
Thank you for defining “perfect” and what that means to each tech especially the ones starting out. You’re the first to calm that anxiety in such a lovely way.
I am so happy to finally have you show how to use nail tips with hybrid poly gel. I have use the poly gel,for over a year with the pop off forms and I have it down real good, only sometimes near the cubical it gets a ridge and not so easy to fix after I nuke it. But this tutorial is awesome, and I followed your every step and I am so happy and pleased to have tried this method. I really like this better than the forms but I need more practice with my apex area, but I did really good for my 1st time. Thank you for doing this video.

Hello and Thank you so much for your videos. I love listening to you. You make me feel like I can do anything with my nails. I have learned so much from you. You're calming and a great teacher.
Thank you so much! I've been wondering if you could use tips to do polygel. Now I know. You've taught this KY woman so much about acrylic and now polygel.
I'm so happy that I found your channel... It's so much fun and easier now just to watch, watch and watch so I don't make mistakes... My first poly was a nightmare. Now I am a pro. Thank you Suzie 🤗❣️
I had no idea you were Canadian, that makes me happy !!! Im from Newfoundland so every time you said "me finger" I was think you've been around some newfoundlanders or something hahaha
Absolutely stunning 🤩. I love how you take your time to ensure each nail is shaped evenly. Most nail techs here in Toronto are rushing to get people in & out of their chairs to accommodate more clients and of course more money which ends up making for either uneven nails, chipped edges, cut cuticles from the drill & filing etc… as I’ve experienced in my years of getting my nails done. I wish I could have you do a set for me 🥰 Great work beautiful lady 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Kristine Thiessen they're awesome! My clients are getting as much as 4-5 weeks of wear out of them! They look hideous grown out though unless you're really good at filing the cuticle down after application lol. They soak off in about 30 minutes for me. By the 30 minute point I can literally just move them off the nail in a sludge, with my cuticle pusher. You definitely need a UV flashlight to flash cure them though! That weird light apres sends you to do it is soooo awkward!
I gotta say, those nails look gorgeous, but I have to ask, how do you do anything with nails that long? Mine are half that length, and some things are so difficult. I guess it’s a learning process.
Video idea: try hybrid/poly gel kits from wish, eBay, amazon etc.. Non-nail techs do not understand the risks of these products and I think it would be good to see if they’re any good for their ridiculously affordable price.
Suzie honestly you have taught me alot over last few days i went to college back in 2007 to do nails i left for silly reasons by watching the tutorials i have picked up so many tips from you cant wait to get my hands on some polygel see were this takes me ❤ love from the uk xxx
I really enjoy watching your videos. I do learn a lot of new things from you, and what also makes it so much more fun, you literally go step by step and don't rush it off.
Since these tips (and quite a lot of tips) have such a strong c-curve to them, do you have any suggestions on how to fit them better to people with somewhat “flatter” nail plates?
Derek Kee I just use pressure lol 😅. They're totally worth it if you've got a client who insists on going ape sh*t all over life itself lol. 'I need nails for powerlifting.' 'Say no more!' 😂

Just a little appreciation post. This past year I’ve been very suicidal and had completely given up on life. When I was in hospital I would watch your videos because I use to love having my nails done 💅 My love for them came back by watching your videos for hours and hours. When I came out of hospital, I enrolled at my local college to do my nail tech diploma and I’m half way through, doing really well. So thank you for giving me a reason to live and carry on. You genuinely saved my life 🖤😘
The world is better with you in it. You are valid. ❤
These are so pretty! I have 4 children and when I'm in a rush and need to repair a nail or do a quick fill on myself. Hybrids come through for the win Everytime! Tips help aa well! I never used tips until recently because I wanted to get my form techniques down pat before trying them and I found some from glitterplanet and beyou that have beautiful c curves and have been using them a lot more lately.
Tysm for sharing Suzie and cameraman. You guy's make my day when you two post!
Yes i do love glitter planet pre pinched tips . they r the best
Thank you Suzy............... I'm 57 and I am starting to learn to do my nails by myself: at first, it seemed unreachable!!! But your tutorials are so thorough and easy to understand !! Thank you very much, please go on making these tutorials with Tips & Polygel or Gel (because I'm not able to use forms). Again, thank you !!
Does anybody else love when the camera man talks? Because sometimes he asks great questions.
You should do a *how much does camera man know about nails???* video
Susie, your amazing. Your the only one iv seen so far to put the base coat over the plastic tip. Which is absolutely essential! Iv done it the other way and had immediate lifting. But base coat keeps it on. Love you and ur videos. 🥰😍
the colour coordination in this video is incredible! half the fun for me of watching your vids is the aesthetic tbh. great job on the nails too!
***NEW SUBSCRIBER!***Glad I found your channel! What an amazing teacher! You did great, and you explained, and showed everything in perfect details! Nothing overly complicated here. Thank you! I'm new to doing my own nails, and feet, polygel, tips, gel pedicures, soon acrylic, I'm saving the $100 + 15tip-$130-+ tip I would spend in the salons on a acrylic fill, with stiletto, or coffin shape, with gel polish, and feet with gel polish as well! Twice a month! Here in Southern California. My entire kit was purchased off Amazon, I'm a prime member, I got everything! Efile, 2 led-uv strong lamps, gel polish, many of them, base, top coat, no slip solutions, alcohol, clear tips, polygel many, mold tips,(different shapes, nail files, 5 bits with sand rolls, many jewels, stickers, brushes, glitters, many, clippers, nail cutters, cuticle oil, acetone remover, cuticle clippers, French tip sticker guides, nail glues, tweezers, + more, ect! And I only spent $89 with taxes! Less expensive than just one trip to my nail salon! I'm doing pretty great too! Thanks 2 help like yours here on RUclips! So much thanks and ❤ 😍 🌞 🌴
I always feel so privileged when we get to see Suzie's natural nail! (and yes I am pronouncing it the way Suzie does: na':tural 💅)
When u file ur all ur nails u let the dust on ur nail does it hurt all the product does it settle to the bottom of the bottle.i love to meet u one day u do my nails dream come true u realy wonderful kind sweet lady.i learn alote from ur videos.
Because of you i want to do my own nails! I had so many horrible experiences at the nail studios in my town and i can't deal with that no more. So i started to watch videos. When I found you, I finally felt confident enough to buy my own nail stuff. Thank you for that
Ur voice is so relaxing and the content is just perfect
I love using hybrid gel for my nails, I find it to be the easiest way to get fabulous nails. I don't use tips, I build them out myself. I would definitely recommend hybrid gel system for beginners.
I love those nails. The length and shape are incredible.
I love Suzie's tutorials. She's a great teacher and I learned a lot from her, she's so pretty and has a pleasant calming voice.
Suzie, your wardrobe is always as beautiful as the nails you create, and this lovely coral lace cardigan is no exception!! ❤️❤️❤️
i just found your channel. i'm 74 and earned my license in 1973 when we used dental porcelain/forms/and hand filing ;0).
Cjp is a great system, has a try me kit for 20£.
Naio Nails and Enailcoture were my non tech go to’s. Honestly now I’m a tech and can get others they are still my go to.
You can always purchase products online that certified techs use without the certification. I buy all my products on amazon and I have used many forms of hybrid gel.
Daily charme
Cjp and naio are great . Naio its harder to file so in my opinion it's better for people who are neat applying product. If you r still learner and you application it's not good then i'll go for cjp it's so easier to file. Although i'm professional and my application is neat i do still use cjp just because i was training on it.
Hi Suzi, I never seems to finish your videos , every time I see them I fell asleep , your soothing voice is really smth else
Watching your videos is very informative. When I leave, she got me thinking I’m a nail tech😭 💅🏾🥰
I’ve watched about 100 nail videos. Yours are the best. People think anyone can teach...so wrong. You are a great teacher. I love your videos
I am super bad at cutting the tips all the same length so I use a nail form, put it under the attached tip, choose a length number and cut it to that length. I do that on each nail on the hand! Perfect lol 😂
I love nails. I spend 50 to 60 $$ on my nails. But I got everything to start doing my own. Thank you Suzie.♥️♥️♥️
I've been watching "I went to the worst reviewed nail salon" type of video lately now I came here to clean my soul
Lmao i love it
You are my all time favorite RUclips’r for nails. Your detailed, not rushed, and you just know all your stuff. Thank you so much!
This is the first I've heard of hybrid gel nails. Questions
1. How is the strength compared to acrylic?
2. Is there and odor like there is one with acrylic?
3. Do you get lifting?
The odor is that of isopropyl alcohol, in almost all systems that’s what’s used; although Happy Gel, Max Estrada’s brand, uses their low-odor monomer as the slip solution-that smells like acrylic.
i'm also wondering what the strength is i wonder if the tips affect the durability or is it better using pure hybrid gel instead of using the tips
I was a nail tech for a really long time. I loved it. I had the knack to do them and make them look real.
Your nails are always so beautiful...love the bright colors..
Not a fan of square nails...but yours are very beautifully done!!!
Wow! I've done nails for 40 yrs, just got my hybrid, tried one nail, unbelievable....I'm in awe, so easy!
This will end alot of gals paying high dollar for services, if they practice just a little!
I still love my acrylic though! Thank you
I love the hybrid gel I've been practicing with it and I love it. Your classes have been very helpful on my journey to becoming a nail technician
hi mam..im a first timer nail technician..i really love when you're teaching...
Hi beautiful Suzie, I have a tip for you 😉 when gluing on tips on yourself, start with your pinky finger and work towards the thumb. They won't be in your way 😉 love your videos😘
When she said there is no such thing as perfect 🙌🏻 thank you Suzie
You look so much like Valerie Bertinelli! ❤️ 💅🏽
Suzie and thanks for being such a great teacher. I've been following you for the last 2 years and I've learned so much just from watching your videos.
Do you like this better than the happy gel? How does it wear? Any lifting with this product?
I love how patient you are. It's relaxing to watch you.
I really like that beautiful pink color. 💕💖💕
Hi Suzie i just wanna thank u so much for your nail tutorials i have learnt a lot from you and i now have my small nail bar nothing fancy but i do my work there because of you my children are able to eat God bless
I did this today, I love them
Hello and Thank you so much for your videos. I love listening to you. You make me feel like I can do anything with my nails. I have learned so much from you. You're calming and a great teacher.
Suzie can you review the Après Gel X system?? Please!
I learned with this method in nail school. We couldn't use acrylic because of the smell and not having a great ventilation system. Thank you for this!
Love everything about you and your videos Thank you so much so informative and so nicely explained 💗
Thank you so much! I've been wondering if you could use tips to do polygel. Now I know. You've taught this KY woman so much about acrylic and now polygel.
You are great woman!!! You are my inspiration❤❤❤
I'm so happy that I found your channel... It's so much fun and easier now just to watch, watch and watch so I don't make mistakes... My first poly was a nightmare. Now I am a pro. Thank you Suzie 🤗❣️
Loving the orange nails
Super cute and clean...perfect! I am a beginner and I like watching you because you are educating while showing the viewers how to do it. Thank you!
I had no idea you were Canadian, that makes me happy !!! Im from Newfoundland so every time you said "me finger" I was think you've been around some newfoundlanders or something hahaha
So likeable! Most nail tutorials are so annoying. I LOVE IT
I don't understand why people have disliked this video?!
Thanks for all the tips!
Haters gon' hate gurl 😉
Absolutely stunning 🤩. I love how you take your time to ensure each nail is shaped evenly. Most nail techs here in Toronto are rushing to get people in & out of their chairs to accommodate more clients and of course more money which ends up making for either uneven nails, chipped edges, cut cuticles from the drill & filing etc… as I’ve experienced in my years of getting my nails done. I wish I could have you do a set for me 🥰
Great work beautiful lady 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My Package is coming tomorrow for Polygel, I am so excited! JESUS LOVES YOU EVERYBODY!
I love it when you get excited about a product, it's so cute!
Can you pretty please do a demo and review on the apres gel x products!!❤
Kristine Thiessen they're awesome! My clients are getting as much as 4-5 weeks of wear out of them! They look hideous grown out though unless you're really good at filing the cuticle down after application lol. They soak off in about 30 minutes for me. By the 30 minute point I can literally just move them off the nail in a sludge, with my cuticle pusher. You definitely need a UV flashlight to flash cure them though! That weird light apres sends you to do it is soooo awkward!
Miss Suzie your tutorial on these different types of Poly gels are amazing these nails are amazing and beautiful wow oh wow
Hi Susie, I use #Prettypolynails acrygel Their liquid glass is so clear you can encapsulate anything in it. Love all your videos xx
Loved ur kimono & matching orange nails. Fab finish as always i am glad u explained the difference between polygel & hybrid gel.
Thanks for the tips! 😉
i love when i watch your videos and i get an add for nail polish right before. essie KNOWS
I gotta say, those nails look gorgeous, but I have to ask, how do you do anything with nails that long? Mine are half that length, and some things are so difficult. I guess it’s a learning process.
I seriously CAN'T get enough of your channel! You're a great teacher and welcome distraction 🖤💅👸
Video idea: try hybrid/poly gel kits from wish, eBay, amazon etc.. Non-nail techs do not understand the risks of these products and I think it would be good to see if they’re any good for their ridiculously affordable price.
Totally agreed.Hope Suzie can try some other brands from amazon, ebay, ect.
Molly O'Hara That stuff is soooo gross! Who knows what mysteries are in your future once you've got that mystery crap on your nails. ☠️
Suzie honestly you have taught me alot over last few days i went to college back in 2007 to do nails i left for silly reasons by watching the tutorials i have picked up so many tips from you cant wait to get my hands on some polygel see were this takes me ❤ love from the uk xxx
Whats the brand of the nail lamp in this video?
I really enjoy watching your videos. I do learn a lot of new things from you, and what also makes it so much more fun, you literally go step by step and don't rush it off.
Since these tips (and quite a lot of tips) have such a strong c-curve to them, do you have any suggestions on how to fit them better to people with somewhat “flatter” nail plates?
Derek Kee i believe you can buy more straight tips actually🤔🤔🤔
Derek Kee I just use pressure lol 😅. They're totally worth it if you've got a client who insists on going ape sh*t all over life itself lol.
'I need nails for powerlifting.'
'Say no more!' 😂
you don't really want longer nails being too flat because you need the arch for strength - if they're too flat they will break when jammed straight on
