I worked at Amazon's warehouse for a month and I had to run away. I felt as if I were a robot and had no soul. It was the scariest experience of my life. Stowing endlessly and hearing that beeping sound, pushing massive carts while I limp in agony for $17 an hour. I saw people who had been there for a long period of time and I saw how much of a toll that warehouse had taken on their bodies. They looked horrific, something straight out of a scary movie. We had these manager assistants that would follow us around all the day and constantly remind us of our stowing rates or picking accuracy. Even when I was the second fastest stower, they would show up with a big fake smile and ask me to stow more aisles. I saw 60 and 70 year olds there and that made me even more depressed. Hearing the managers announcements every few hours and hearing the terrible music they'd play over and over everyday, made me question every decision I have ever made in life. I'm glad that I finished nursing school and I'm working at a geriatric center now but I still have nightmares about the warehouse I worked at and I feel incredibly bad for all the genuine and hardworking people in the warehouse I worked at. I'm incredibly amazed by how you managed to work in a warehouse for three years. It takes a special person with an incredible amount of mental strength.

When we we're in the busy season they hire everybody but when it gets slow they start firing people for petty things, like being late for 2mins or getting too many mispicks. I'm never working on a warehouse again money was good but I don't want to end up like those guys that been there for 20 years. I got into trucking and I love it man. The best type of warehouse work is the one that is considered “warehouse” but you don’t work much. I found a warehouse where barely anything happens and the job is easy yet the company has to pay me as if it’s a normal warehouse. So I’m getting the same amount of money as any other warehouse but I’m working less than a cashier at a store.
My tip is to find a small warehouse, never work for the big ones. A medium sized one or less. Become the reliable worker who is always on time and never says no. Eventually you will get leader role when the old dude retires

Due to being grown I was sort of forced to do warehouse work again. However I'm a certified security officer so going from doing Something I love and trained to do vs a low lazy paying job made me appreciate my trade more. Because I realise that warehouse work is just a job like mcdonald's or better yet worse. Forklifters mostly push pallets and zoom around doing little work that everybody else is busting sweat for. If you can do better get a trade or degree and leave the warehouses. I worked in these environments 6 times and it's not worth it unless you are a supervisor or truck driver unloading packages.

So that’s what I told my supervisor my brake starts when I get to the break room and ends 15 minutes later when I leave the break room. Walking to and from the break room does not count towards your break. You have to tell your managers how you’re going to do things or else they will walk all over you. I hated it. Warehouse work for small to mid-sized companies can be alright as you tend to do the whole process rather than just one monotone job (picking in your case). Generally speaking you're also more appreciated by your supervisor and people above them as you're more important to the company's performance and less expendable than you are as an ant in a haystack for the big companies. The wages and hours also tend to be better in my experience.

I worked at a warehouse for 6 months and it was honestly some of the easiest money I ever made. There are different kinds of warehouses. This one had about 8 people in the entire place. A few pickers, a few loaders for the trucks. It was quiet, clean, and I basically had to work HARD for about 30 mins, and then got 30 mins to sometimes 2 HOURS to just hang out and wait for another order. My co-workers were really cool and nice, we joked around during downtime, and management was nice too. There was no "rate" thay had to be met, you had several orders a day to pick. As long as you got it done, you could pretty much come in whenever, and stay til you're finished, which was never later than 4:00 pm.
There was also BIG windows all over so plenty of daylight. That was HUGE.
    All depends on the place.

I've NEVER worked so hard in my life, and when I think about it, because it was my first day, they took it easy on me! The order picking wasn't the issue it was loading the trucks near the last 2-3 hours of your shift. The loading dock was inside, but the trucks can only back up so close to the edge of the building where enough of the -25 degree cold air was, and the physical sweating took me from hot to cold - my sweating, combined with the cold made me freeze. When i was younger,i used to work overtime...but never exceeding 10 Hrs. ...and now, that i'm in my fiftys...i don't even wanna work for 8Hrs....it's just too much for me...because of the physical stress, your body is taking a big blow from that...and nobody's asking how we feel...absolute ridicilous how we live in this world! Damn, i just applied a warehouse job today, and the ONLY reason i applied to be a warehouse worker is because i need to lose weight(i'm not fat, but i need abs.) I was a data analyst making 3 times the amount that this warehouse pays me. But sitting all day is KILLING my back, even my doctor told me i need to move around a lot. So I applied let's call it warehouse A, then i got declined, they told me i'm overqualified. I have never heard of such thing before this! So i went home and modified my resume, i took the college degree off, and make it seems like i'm still in college. I also didn't include my data analyst jobs in, and then i applied warehouse B, and i got hired. I went in for the interview today, and it was shockingly easy. I printed a resume on those fancy resume paper, and they barely looked at it or even talked to me, it's pretty much walk in, drug test, background screen and i was told i was hired on site..... And there i was prepared a whole speech lol cuz my previous jobs in tech have REALLY long and thorough interviews, most requires 3 seperate interview sessions. So this was new to me. Anyway, watching ur video made me realize how lucky i am to have options and can quit anytime when it takes toll on me. But my plan has always been just work there for 3-6 months to lose weight, move more to fix my lower back, relax out my brain and then get back to my normal life. But now i'm not sure i'll be able to fix my back and relax my brain LOL. Well, we'll see.

I just quit my warehouse job, it was a furniture/linen/glassware/decor/huge tents warehouse, when I started it was waaaay worse, still not that great but excited for the next move in little more than a week. I used to work until I was dizzy and felt like I was going to have a mental breakdown, a coworker was snappy and miserable and make me feel dumb, I had to deal with sensory processing disorder and autism. One day I had to be in the hot sun putting up a huge tent, one day working 16 hours packing trucks up and dealing with the roof leaking and smelling mold. Now I quit because I was scared for the busy season because of one year I woke up in the morning and completely destroyed my room and punched a hole in the wall and I felt sick for a couple months after that. So before it gets too busy I better not get that far again just in case, I don’t care about the pay. Right now it’s not too bad but I quit and going out in a week so I don’t have to deal with that again.

I've also started working in a warehouse. We start a lot of projects with shampoos, products like Ariel for cleaning clothes, Lenor, or products for cleaning dishes! I also have 1 women supervisor, 2 supervisors! Problem is that we have a lot of stations and start projects on any station! We have machines for wrapping products! I work on a machine in flux: Pallets come with this products! We take them out of the box, put again in another box with different stickers and on pallets again! Another issue is that sometimes you start on a different station and then at your station: We have to make boxes in advance and stickers! It is flux work! I get the ideea with supervisors! They stare at us a lot! I also have colleagues that are mumbling and that negative energy can get you! On my station I have to put boxes in 5 rows on pallet! Fortunately the machine wraps the products but on 5th row I have to scotch the boxes before I finish the pallet! A lot of women that are mumbling cause they don't want to scotch the boxes! I can do that but when I do it takes time: When I scotch the last row they come fast from the machine that's why is easy for women to scotch them then me! Another issues: A lot of palletisations for different products and the instructions regarding them are not explicit! For instance: 6 boxes in one part, 4 boxes: 2+2 and again 4 boxes and 6 boxes! I also have simple ones: 5 in a row and 5 on the other: This type of palletisation I have on the wrapping machine! I have pictures with palletisations but they are not clear cause you only see geometrical shapes of the pallets with colours instead of seeing the pallet in the pictures with boxes that you need to add differently and the simple boxes!

People are real nice and helpful, they’ll stop to talk to you for a minute or two, supervisors won’t say anything unless your one month report isn’t very good, but a bad day happens and they understand that and won’t bs you about an 70/80% day. And the production is real easy I got 108% my first day barely knowing what I was doing at the time. Nice to see smiles when I drive by people, much different. Work still hard but that’s work for ya. It definitely feels like slavery, drain just walking into their daily because you know your gonna be overworked. Tried telling ppl about this they just say, it’s a job why you complaining so much. Only people who actually work inside a warehouse will truly experience everything you said. It’s very physically, mentally and emotionally draining. The people are so down to earth and kind there.
