Chirey chinese cars in my country central america has lifetime warranty on engine and transmission can you beat that warranty,Test drove gwm poer cannon thinking about buying one seriously
Should review the hynrid vs the hybrid of both
Did he mention the engine problems of the Hilux?
Whats been happening?
The 3rd facelift of Toyota Hilux generation 8 launched in Australia May in SA July .
Living in country towns can youget a bull bar for the cannon alpha? It should have come out with a factory fitments ?!?!
Like the India company mahindras Ute's for Australia 🇦🇺 also fuel economy Full time AWD V part time 2WD ?! I'll buy the hybrid version. As long as I get a guarantee that they will supply a proper bullbar.!
Hope the second generation canon alpha manage to iron out these issues you point out . Minor adjustments & calibrations can make a big difference
The prices reviewers quote for Rangers & Hiluxes doesn’t factor in the $10k dealer markup.
I think a comparison at 200000 kms will show which one is the better buy....
Neither
I agree, the hilux will fall apart like all of the late hiluxes do currently. Ever driven one that’s been used in industry? They’re all munted.
@@Buriedpast85 yeah absolutely
@@Buriedpast85 I'm a tradie, had 4 Hilux's in row towing every other day, carrying weight etc. Had over 300k out of a couple with no problems. Current 2019 N80 has done 110k and looks new.
@@Buriedpast85 You talk crap, we have an SR5 at work that's done 350k now, and I know the guy that drives it has no mechanical sympathy and drives interstate at over 150km/h, my other mate has an ex-Telstra hilux with canopy, he pulls a 16foot trailer every day and its still going strong.
The GWM Cannon literally put the fuel filter in the middle underneath the car, the water separator sensor is the lowest point of the car.
A Petrol 2l on the Cannon Hybrid, a 2.4 diesel on this and a 2l diesel/turbo petrol on the Cannon - Overstressed, they will fall apart out of warranty.
Except for the 18L/100km, the D40 4.0L still beats all these over priced, outdated utes.
Dr evil - rrrrrrrrrrrrrrright
you are supposed to use voice commands. "hello GWM" its pretty good. i use it all the time.. its a digital rev meter....
so the gwm is has more power more technology more comfort and cost less and yet the hilux is the better ute? How much is Toyota paying you?
Funny how those manual nob for volume and air con. Mean so much to me, I hate screens
Canon Alpha does have a head up display.
I think we need to change our minds when it comes to reaching our destination and start considering a safer way to get there.
What was the point n not comparing the top model hybrid , you said it was the top spec which it is not
Japan gonna have to pick up its game. Competition has to be good for the consumer, more choice, raising up the standards of fit and finish.
The Hilux will hold its resale while its Chinese counterpart drops like a stone . Any cost saving on the gwm will evaporate.
Exactly. Masterly said.
No one ever said buying a car was a good investment idea
I beg to differ, once people realise they are paying for a badge.. value will drop through the floor on the old Toyota's. What are you going to do, buy a 2018 Hilux for $40,000 or a brand new Cannon for $41000 with seven years of warranty on it. It's a no brainer.
@@55commodore To start with your Cannon ute is not a Cannon Alpha at that price and secondly I suggest you go to Redbook and look a 2022 GWM Ute Cannon XSR Auto 4x4 Dual Cab , only 2 years old yet the resale has dropped by a large margin . You want to buy a Chinese car , go right ahead , it does not matter to me . Lastly , I'll take an appropriate engine such as 2.8 litre for a vehicle that size and weight over a puny 2 litre everyday , performance from small engines comes at the cost of longevity. The 2.8 will still be running many years after the 2 litre has expired or needs rebuild , parts availability permitting.
i Just traded my Gwm 4x4 steed with 120000klms for 8k on the new Alpha Ultra, i only paid $19990.00 Brand new for it in 2018, So i lost 12k over 7ish years!! Not Bad!!
I own two toyotas but compared to new Chinese cars, they look boring and expensive. My next car is a chinese one either a BYD, Zeekr or GWM.
You should put hybrid again hybrid
Another biased review, when will these uneducated reviews stop trying to thrust this crap on us.
This guy must own a hilux and just couldn’t handle it 😂. All those beeps are very easily turned off and the screen is very simple to navigate. Didn’t go into much detail about all the features the interior has like massage front seats, seat warmer, seat coolers plus more and didn’t go into much detail about all the off road features they come equipped with front diff lock, rear diff lock ect.
Give the Cannon to the 4x4 24/7 boys to take up cape York 😂
In terms of reliability and resale give me the Toyota any day of the week
Wow...... is the Hilux managed by Don King???? (sorry old person reference - some people may have to google it 😂)
To start with the GWM is a different larger class size - apples against oranges - and despite that it is still way cheaper, has heaps more features and technology, longer warranty, drives better on road, at least equal off road, the interior looks its least a decade newer than the Hilux.... even has a front diff lock FFS......but no.... the winner is Hilux.
I have to say these corporate type reviews are at least consistent 😩
HHAHAHAHA give me a break, I love the Toyota Hilux but clearly the GWM won that! The reviewer clearly is a Toyota FanBoy! Lets get a neutral Reviewer
clearly chinese utes still have along way to go. but i want to watch whats going to be worser the chinese ute or the new kia tasman
No tachometer 😂 0.7 x 1000rpm. Who gives a shit if it's digital 😂
Gotta love the 2019s retro interior and drum brakes of the Hilux. Nothing like a touch of nostalgia
Wow this was a very long paid ad!
Because he didn't say what you wanted to hear
Lol. No because that's my opinion
If you have a smart phone learn how to use all the features, before you tell people about it. So, if you gone talk about a smart car feature like in all Chinese cars learn all about it features. The vol and temp controls are all on the steering wheel, by the way you can use voice controls, it is 2024 not 1904. Mate is uneducated about smart car. These Aussies car review need to be reeducated on new techs in cars.
Why don’t you tell us all about your education?
GWM Cannon to many issues & Toyota HiLux is a back to the future ute the ford ranger V6 wildtrak is the only one to get as long as the lion engine has been fixed
So who in their right mind would choose a Chinese ute over a Hilux to do a trip around Australia?
The majority
@@wcrash9361 and they would be wrong to do so
@@Levi-c6f ur a tool
@@Levi-c6fa bloke called wheels by the ocean on RUclips, just done 50,000km around Australia with a 3.5T caravan on the back of his GWM Cannon. The suspension on the caravan broke before the car did 😂
i would no worries at all what are ya a man or a mouse!!
Terrific and helpful review, thank you.
I’d be keen to see the comparison between the Triton with the Cannon X/Vanta.
“Sponsored by Toyota”
Just like every “paid advertisement” on here for the Chinese vehicles. Filled with Chinese 50 cent army in the comments section, sort of like that is it ?
In the bush toyoto takes you home
The nicer vehicle to drive...??? Your living in the past.. my wild track has a better drive let alone the new cannon which OFFERS ALOTMORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK..
I own one great car at a price I could afford
What happens when you want parts or resale for Chinese cars when our countries and there's relationship falls apart?
Gwm sounds yuck
When Chiy-na lifts it's trade restrictions, I may start to consider their vehicle
I believe they have
@@Ausijoeblow lobster and beef suppliers feel free to interject at this point
They lifted tariffs ages ago
@@Pyjamarama11 Australia implemented more and earlier trade restrictions so this is an instance of hypocrisy.
The Hilux is by far the better off-road and on road drivable ute. That reliable hilux engine is so good that it's been used on the Prado, Fortuner, Haice van, etc. I love my new Hilux Rogue. Hilux fan for life
Ditto from me
Its not, you just need to justify to your self the extra expense.
Toyota fan boys never cease to amaze me, at one point they’re praising this wonderful reliable engine when it’s compared to other Utes but the moment the same engine was dropped into the new 70 series v8 fan boys talk it down like it’s Chinese made they have zero faith in it😂
GOD WITH ME . GO WITH ME . GREAT WALL MOTORS. ANYTIME . ANYWHERE. ALL THE TIME. ALL THE WAY .ANYWHERE . GO WITH ME GREAT WALL MOTORS..
A good to the point review ❤
And the GWM will live at the mechanics which will give you more garage space. 😅
U wasted a comment to spout bs

@@sOuR_pLuMM_ know many people who own gwm cars and 2 in our family, not an issue with any of them . Compared to how many times we had to have our Toyotas in the services centre with issues I’d never buy an outdated Toyota ever again
Ranger engines too often dead before they reach 100k.
Gmw is just a toy, don't last and too much problem down the track, don't compare it to hilux, gmw can never beat hilux, in 5 years time gmw sell for just 10k no one buy, but hilux still selling at 50k...that is the difference between them
Shitbox
cmon the hilux isnt that bad
@michaelfuhrmann4576 I'm talking about that Chinese Truck bro
Resale value of GWM vs Toyota !😢
The Cannon is not on the same level as probably the most reliable ute on the planet. Nice tech and options, not to mention it looks good, but it’ll start falling apart in a few years. Hilux will run for a generation without any major issues
Like my Hilix that spent more time in limp mode than actually driving? DPF issues?
The "unbreakable Hilix" story in 20 years I the past mate
You obviously undone know about all the hilux issues and the crazy number of recalls Toyota has had
Toyota is no longer "unbreakable"
@@aljoubert8749 Dam right mister. I know all my customers with toyota shitbox dpf issues so bad they went and brought new Amaroks. They are getting major things fixed under warranty already on the Amaroks as well. Lesson is how many modern vehicles are reliable in a year lifespan let alone longer than 5 years. Warranty piece of paper is worth nothing either
Here we go, let me guess toyota is better 😜
