@@alfonind While I love the power of the HEV, I do heaps of long distance driving for work and it seems the HEV will not be that economical especially with the long flat roads I'm on as it will not have much chance to regenerate the batts very much. With bigger tyres and setup for camping trips, I beleive the diesel will be the better choice in the long run. In saying that, I am waiting for the PHEV version to see how that goes as it might be the best of both worlds, power and economical with decent range (until the batts have run out anyway). But then that means I should also consider the BYD Shark which seems pretty good. I do prefer the Alpha's high towing capacity and more mechancial driveline vs the BYD's though.
Mate, greeting from Adelaide, thank you for an awesome non bias review, loved it. I heard they are coming out with an updated which allows you to turn off a lot of the safety function totally off, also adding a guide line to let you know where the tow ball is, we have a tank 300 and we loved it, afterall money doesn't rain from the sky and paying 52k for a mid size 4wd compare to 80k for an entry level prado. People fail to realise, yes resale value will be different, but you gonna fork out extra 30k in finance, which ends up to be 40k ish over a 5-7 year loan.😅
Hi there, Just double tap starter button without your foot on the brake and it will bring up your screen to do what you want, make sure key is in car of course. I have a normal Cannon with 16K km and really like it , it goes well and shifts nice but had a firm ride like yours, I put after market suspension on and it smoothed it out a lot, Got to enjoy these cars for the money though, Thanks for the review
Good to see real-world ownership review of these - I like the price and specs in diesel trim. What is fuel consumption like? What would your estimate be of km lifespan for a set of tyres?
Thanks for the review mate. Thinking of buying one. Do you think the hybrid version would be worth it for the extra dollars? Im unecided atm. Thanks again. 👍
For 59k i got a stx navara. Why do you say its ahead of nissan or the triton? Both cars a severly under rated. Everything similar spec was around 75-80k when i was ute shopping ( dmax/ranger)
I ordered a triton but the load rating meant I couldn't lease it. Comfort level, space in the rear seats for kids, including reclining rear seats, massage front seats, sunroof...All for 54k.

Thanks for the vid, very informative, I think I'm 99% getting a ultra diesel 🤙🏼
@_TenaciousD_ if you can get the hybrid for under 60k, I would definitely get it, provided you don't do heaps of towing.

I saw a car review which said it is also supposed to help with the take off lag, hopefully it fixes it or makes it better for current owners.

Got one , love it

What is fuel consumption like?
What would your estimate be of km lifespan for a set of tyres?
10l per 100 but that's with 265 65 18 at tyres.
@@RufusDogsbody I am averaging 9.4l/100km while driving predominantly in the urban environment.
Tyres are wearing quick. Awd seems to chew tyres. Fuel consumption for me is 10.2 per 100.
Thanks for the review, im just wondering if anyone has been fitting seat covers to front seats.?
Not sure, but it would effect the seat cooling function.

I would get the hybrid if I didn't have to tow. But now the BYD is available, that is way cheaper to lease.
280mm tow ball stick out seems to fix the problem with reverse camera
I have been dropping the tailgate slightly and hooking it up with a rope.

When it comes to the internal safety monitoring, its thanks to the EU.. they're making these new cars unbearable with the overdone safety tech
Would you buy it again if you had the chance??
No, would get a byd due to tax advantages of phev.
Hi and congratulations on buying an alpha . What Fuel economy are you getting ?
@@lena19191 10.2 l per 100km. 14l per 100 towing 2 Tonne.
@ thankyou
What procedure do you follow for the throttle reset?

I actually had to repeat this again today.
What size wheels did you put on?
265 65 18 tyres. I don't need anything bigger.
Towed with it at all.
Not yet, still sorting out the brake controller etc.
