In most (if not all US states), product tampering is considered a FELONY.
The thing about cruise lines though, is they aren’t under any certain jurisdiction. That’s why it’s hard to prosecute crime aboard the ships.
Usually justification is default to the primary Port of Origin. So if an USA origin it fall under USA law. Obviously you are correct it can vary but this tends to be the most typically rule for which government laws apply @kaylaEA_

The water girl needs to banned from all cruise lines. When booked on a cruise with Carnival you can purchase a case of water for about $8 or $9 per case. This could cause the cruise line to not put any bottles like this in the cabins unless a passenger requests a bottle. 😡

I just got off the Carnival Pride 14 day to (not quite) Greenland. There were two girls in the room next to me I heard bragging about doing this. They were also telling everyone they shared a drink package. Accounts got flagged, drink package removed & refunded, and they were separated into different rooms. Just happy the room steward heard them and didn’t get stuck with their water bill.

People who post things on social media often don't understand that once that stuff is out there, it is out there forever.
I remember when you talked about the cruise industry shutdown and how everyone was piling on to you, and I remember thinking (maybe even commenting?) how the folks who were dragging you were either taking massive amounts of copium (especially the people employed at that time in the industry) or ignorant of reality (the people cruising who thought the whole thing was nothing). Keep it up, man!
I found CruiseTube only last year but I'm shocked to hear people responded that way! I work in medicine and pretty early on it was clear the pandi was gonna be huge. I'm actually surprised the cruising industry survived at all, I thought it was going to be the final nail in the coffin.
A tip I gave regarding water is to pre-order your water to your room. It's cheaper.

Great video. The other cruise ship "hack" that I hate is people going to the cruise ship gym/fitness center to fill up their water bottles for the next day's excursions. When I am working out and need a cup of water, the water bottles are invariably emptied out by these people. I once watched a guy come in and fill 4 big water bottles for his family.
Is the water in the gym different? There are like 4 water stations on ships. Why would they go to the gym?

@@lorireed8046 it's really not. The water at the drink stations is filtered water. Y'all hilarious thinking because it comes out of a big plastic jug that it's "the purest". In Texas I lived in this trailer park where there were trailers on one side of the little road and a big horse farm with a general store on the other side. About halfway down, right across from my trailer, was this little shed. These dudes literally had a tap in there where they filled up truck loads of those big plastic jugs you see in gyms & offices, had a thing to seal them and then delivered them. So dear, you have no better idea where that water comes from than anything else, you've just trained yourself to believe that if it comes in a plastic bottle that it's "better". But on a cruise ship, you at least know the stuff at the drink stations, where you get ice, tea and juices, is filtered.

I was just on a Carnival ship 2 months ago. The bottled water in my room was $4.25 for a 32 oz bottle. About the same, maybe a little more than 7/11.
I get what you're saying about the follies of social media, but in this case, I'm glad she posted this "prank" video, because she got banned, rightfully.... Also, the water isn't $14 lol... it's $4.99 or $4.50, as of last month when I was on a Carnival ship. Still overpriced, but not to the extent you made it out to be. Lesson learned: just get your bottled water from the bars.

This is on the exact same level as the ice cream licking challenge thing that people were doing in grocery stores a few years ago. I don't know how many people were doing this, but it was definitely enough and from diffrerent parts of the country that it was even being picked up on local news channels in addition to the evening national news that the entire country saw.
I just came off royal Caribbean 2 days ago, wasn’t nothing royal about it 🤦🏾♀️ I was on the Allure. They need more elevators, the wait was 10+ mins and elevators were wayyyy past capacity which is a safety hazard. There were at least 12 people on each elevator 95% of the time. The best tasting thing was the olives in the Mediterranean salad & I HATE olives😂 the jerk inspired chicken was tender, I’ll give them that.
It might be better for cruise lines to sell their water at the cruise ship stores because one of these days some crazy person is going to put something deadly in one of these water bottles. If there's one good thing that she did was to show how easy it is to replace the water without anyone knowing what has happened. I would rather die of dehydration than to pay some crazy price for a very inexpensive bottle of water. Well maybe not to that extreme but I'm sure people know what I mean. They could easily include that with the price of the room or make some type of package for their bottled water.

My family cruised with RC last week.( July 4th) They allow you to take a 12 pack. We each took a 12 back, there were 6 of us, no issues getting on board.
Recently my friend's child noticed one of the bottles in the room were not sealed... we told the room stew and he swapped with him. It happened when we first got onboard. Looking back I wouldnt be surprised if the previous person did this. I wasnt even thinking along those lines... WOW gross.

A ban for life did not go far enough, because she can always sail another cruise line. She should have been prosecuted for tampering with consumer product and give time in jail. Hard lessons got to be taught for some of these fools to get it.

@@ElevenAce It does not go like that. When a ship is in international waters, the laws of the flag country applies. And if the ship in at sea but within the territorial waters of a particular country, then that country's laws apply.

I personally believe most bottled water is just that, filtered tap water. Hell, in some cases it may not even be filtered.
I do not like my local tap water, and as it comes from the lower part if the Williamite River (A major river in Oregon that drains through Williamite Valley (prime farm country) and eventually drains into the Columbia River and from there into the Pacific, I'm not fully sure the water doesn't contain things I'd rather not drink.
I use bottled water, but it's the cheapest stuff I can find. Win-co sells it for less than $1 per gallon. It's just filtered tap water, but it doesn't come from the Willemite River.
I was especially troubled after canoeing on the Tualatin river, which drains into the Willemite after passing through county where septic tanks are common. And you could smell it.
Water containing raw sewage becomes unsafe to drink long before it starts to stink.
