This is rogers wife. He doesn't stay in nome the winter. He is with me and his son for the winter. He does have some nightmares about that night. He isn't giving up on gold mining though.

Dam that sucks that he lost everything from that storm. Wow. But hey it’s in that nice virgin ground. Hopefully he’ll find the motherload so he can get back on his feet again. And hopefully before the winter and gets really cold. That bracelet is nice. That a find of a lifetime. That gem stone does look like amethyst. Thanks for sharing.

The 'Mystery Rock is Amethyst, a semi-precious mineral. Amethyst is a purple tinted (through a trace element) variety of Quartz. Lovely to look at but not as valuable (by a long shot) as that Gold bracelet..

I lived down in Juneau and Hoonah for 8 years ( 2002-2009 )and found fine gold everywhere I looked but was too busy working for a living to go after it properly ... GPAA was still operating out at cripple river ... I am a life member

My wife and I had to come back down to take care of my Mother-in-law , ( she just passed a couple months ago ) I am retiring next Jan.
I still hope to make it up to Nome in the next coupla years ... Problem is , I have found alotta fine gold down here in Eastern Wa./Western Id. and I'd be leaving gold to mine gold (?) ... I have figured out fine gold recovery and found many rich bench placers to work . So ... But , the Nome dream lives on
