    I don’t think people understand the concept of this lens is why it can be fun. I also wouldn’t declare it being a generational thing in attempts to make things look old.
    As a photographer… things can get boring at times. Especially between back to back gigs which leaves you not wanting to touch your camera for a minute haha.
    Lenses like this and or vintage lenses you find at pawnshops tends to make photography fun again. Anything to renew the fun in photography is always good in my book.
    To me.. this lens is good for hanging with friends and getting some unique shots during an occasion you wouldn’t typically bring your camera. Where it would likely shine is when printing small prints for a scrapbook or throwing a story together for the socials.
    The lens is cheap, it’s not hurting anyone and I wouldn’t consider the look bad. It has its own vibe. Making digital look like old school film isn’t a crime. Don’t let the photo police push you away from a product that may be just what you need to pick up your camera again. Haters will hate… I say, snag one and enjoy it.
    As far as the main video. I love the colors you’re getting out of your camera for video. Also are you using a promise type filter for your video? Something subtle is going on and I’m loving the look!

    • @BrayGrayy
      @BrayGrayy  25 дней назад

      Yep, I agree... it's a fun little specialty lens. For the video, yes I did use a pro-mist filter at 1/8 strength.

  • @ItsDrewsif
    @ItsDrewsif 4 месяца назад +4

    Hey dude! Great video! Here’s some nerdy crap for you-
    The super colorful light leaks you’re using as a reference are mostly a result of light leaking into film cameras and the big color shifts are because of the reaction of light bouncing off of the film itself and therefore reflecting the color cast of the orange based film back onto itself either from the front of the lens (orange) or from behind the camera body (blue). Also, I’m not certain on this, but I’m pretty sure you might get some better results from a harder light source like a phone light instead of the very diffused light from the rgb light you were using. All in all a cool concept for a lens but I think I’d rather just do some free-lensing/lens-whacking

    So I bought all three of their lenses on a xt50 and xt5. I tested them last week. They are all f14 manual but not manual. The center is ehh the rest is not sharp. The problem with the lens is the way it's designed is a sharp edge where the glass is so it makes a line across half your image. I've returned all of them and am in discussing with the owners to help them make it better.

      Thanks! Yes the RGB was fun to use with this lens. I didn't have too much trouble using the lens because I had already changed the setting in my camera to work with it. I actually talked about it in this vid ruclips.net/user/shortsHj2RPCa0FkQ?si=RFaByShfXD-T1GZo

    Brilliant new lens and a refreshment tbh. Luckily they are cheap in price, so it's not that bad. I agree that you could easily get the effects by using editing software or Apps like Lens Distortion, it is cool to get this effect immediately. Thanks for making this video. I will probably pass on these lenses for now :)

    Thanks for the tip of external light!
    I got the 28mm and 16mm. I am selling the 16mm, I'll keep the 28mm.
    But it is mostly useless, unless using it to create some weird retro looking videos, where you can simulate potent light leaks.
    Maybe 50mm offer a slightly major quality....

    I truly appreciate you making this video. I was about to order this lens and now I'd rather stick with my cheap Tamron 24mm and just make my own edits in LR. I was hoping it would satisfy the need for a pancake lens which Sony doesn't have at the moment. Maybe time to switch back to Fuji 🤷🏽‍♂

    • @BrayGrayy
      @BrayGrayy  4 месяца назад

      @@Caballeroshot Yeah, I think that's a good call. However, if you're looking for a Sony pancake lens, I've been using the Sony 16mm f2.8 on my A7Cii. It's an APSC lens, but if you use it in crop mode it'll get you to that 24mm focal length. It's also an older lens, but I've been digging the quality I've been getting from it.

    • @Its_GN
      @Its_GN 4 месяца назад +3

      They are full frame lenses, if you mount these lenses on an APS-C sensor camera you need to account for crop factor. The site (as of 9/15) even states 28mm full frame equivalent. As an owner of a APS-C you always need to account for crop factor when shopping for lenses.

    • @joshuachubbphotography
      @joshuachubbphotography 4 месяца назад

      @@Its_GN yes they are full frame lenses but saying something is a full frame equivalent means you’ve already accounted for the crop factor. Case in point if you search the Fujifilm 27mm lens on a site like BH photo they will tell you it’s a 27mm lens with a 41mm full frame field of view.
      You could never say it’s a 28mm lens and then it’s also 28mm ff equivalent on a crop sensor camera lol
