I find it funny how everybody criticized the lens which is obviously not made by him so he can't do anything about it however nobody stopped to say how fire this video was. Keep going❤
@@GolfCoachB Sorry, just to clarify... the clips of me outside are the Pocket 3. The clip of me in my office is from the Sony A74 and I'm using a black pro mist filter on the lens.
Hey dude! Great video! Here’s some nerdy crap for you- The super colorful light leaks you’re using as a reference are mostly a result of light leaking into film cameras and the big color shifts are because of the reaction of light bouncing off of the film itself and therefore reflecting the color cast of the orange based film back onto itself either from the front of the lens (orange) or from behind the camera body (blue). Also, I’m not certain on this, but I’m pretty sure you might get some better results from a harder light source like a phone light instead of the very diffused light from the rgb light you were using. All in all a cool concept for a lens but I think I’d rather just do some free-lensing/lens-whacking
So I bought all three of their lenses on a xt50 and xt5. I tested them last week. They are all f14 manual but not manual. The center is ehh the rest is not sharp. The problem with the lens is the way it's designed is a sharp edge where the glass is so it makes a line across half your image. I've returned all of them and am in discussing with the owners to help them make it better.
Brilliant new lens and a refreshment tbh. Luckily they are cheap in price, so it's not that bad. I agree that you could easily get the effects by using editing software or Apps like Lens Distortion, it is cool to get this effect immediately. Thanks for making this video. I will probably pass on these lenses for now :)
Cool idea but the softness is way too strong as you get away from the center. Would have been a better effect if the transition to the edges was more gradual.
I truly appreciate you making this video. I was about to order this lens and now I'd rather stick with my cheap Tamron 24mm and just make my own edits in LR. I was hoping it would satisfy the need for a pancake lens which Sony doesn't have at the moment. Maybe time to switch back to Fuji 🤷🏽♂
@@Caballeroshot Yeah, I think that's a good call. However, if you're looking for a Sony pancake lens, I've been using the Sony 16mm f2.8 on my A7Cii. It's an APSC lens, but if you use it in crop mode it'll get you to that 24mm focal length. It's also an older lens, but I've been digging the quality I've been getting from it.
@@BrayGrayy thanks for the recommendation. I was looking for something small in size like the Polar Pro lens since I already have a 24mm prime that is tiny compared to my 24-105 anyway.
They are full frame lenses, if you mount these lenses on an APS-C sensor camera you need to account for crop factor. The site (as of 9/15) even states 28mm full frame equivalent. As an owner of a APS-C you always need to account for crop factor when shopping for lenses.
@@Its_GN yes they are full frame lenses but saying something is a full frame equivalent means you’ve already accounted for the crop factor. Case in point if you search the Fujifilm 27mm lens on a site like BH photo they will tell you it’s a 27mm lens with a 41mm full frame field of view. You could never say it’s a 28mm lens and then it’s also 28mm ff equivalent on a crop sensor camera lol
Yeah a littke gimmicky. For a constant aperture, i rarher just use their filter for the look snd add the leaks manually. I rather capture the moment snd add after thab maybe miss the miment

Haha, thank you 🙏🏿 More is on the way!
Those were some great shots and a solid video!
@@esteban7857 Thank you🙏🏿
Love the reviews thanks. Great idea bringing the portable light along.
great insight I was thinking about this lens! also what camera are you using for the talking head parts and POV shots?
Thanks! I'm using the DJI pocket 3

@@BrayGrayy okay thats what I meant, thank you for the update, looks great!
Excellent work, man. Thank you for experimenting with it for us.
My pleasure! I actually enjoyed experimenting with this lens and I'm happy to share my findings
Thank you, good to see someone try this and see the effects firsthand!! I was curious to see how that lens would look.

Ah, thanks for the info! Yeah, I later played around with harder lighting (with higher brightness too) and got better results.
We appreciate you for trying this out for us! Some of the shots turned out really good!
Thanks! This was a fun experiment and I think I'll definitely get better with this lens as I keep learning it.
The key to growth is trying something new and getting out of your comfort zone.
Bro great video and insight! I am looking at these lenses to play with on my xt4. Subscribed 🤙
Thank you! I'm glad I could provide some helpful insights 🙌🏿
Yo Bray!! I am soooo glad you did this review 💯💯 might have just saved me money not sure yet, looking at the wider lens. Video was 🔥🔥
Haha, I'm glad this helped. The lens is just ok, but you could definitely skip this one and keep those dollars lol
Agreed.

great overview on this. I would not buy one unless it was ~20$ looks like just another IG gimmick lens.
Very interesting. Seems like a lens that might not be what people hoped for. The colour LED light leaks were my favourite.
Thanks! Those were my favorite, too
thanks for this review!

What ND do you have on your gimbal?
I use the Neewer ND64 on my DJI pocket 3
Yeah I have buyers remorse with this one!
@@carljonesmedia Haha, same 😂
100% i also would not recommend it esp if you have a few vintage lenses....i just bought it to give it a try but naaa, also a bit overpriced
Sounds like it could be fun, but only for so long.
I wish they had weather sealed it.
not for me, thanks for showing
I had it and sent it back. They advertise it as a 28mm full frame equivalent lens, it’s not 28mm field of view, more like 42mm

I feel like it just ruins a perfectly fine photo…
Haha, this could also just be me as the photographer. I'm sure there are others that can get some amazing shots from this.
No way I’d buy.
oh dear, I would never waste money on such gimmick..
