If you would have to glue one prime on it for travel, which one?
Definitely the Fuji 27mm f2.8 for me
4:46 how did you know what to et each setting at? is that base soley on personal preference or were you looking at details somewhere?
It’s based on the recipe he chose from the app Fuji x weekly you’ll see recipe he had from the app in the first 10 mins of the video at 1:55 in the video he does a better explanation
Yep, like @tatianna3078 said you can find recipes here fujixweekly.com/recipes/
@@tatianna3078 Thanks so much!

Just bought the X M5 and came here to find why the Autofocus is so sh.t
Hmm, I don't have my XM5 yet but I'll definitely be testing the autofocus when I get it.
Thanks for the video. I'm debating on the Fuji 27mm or the Voigtlander. I shot film for years with manual everything, so manual focus doesn't put me off. I find that a lot of the time the AF doesn't focus on what I want anyway, and getting it right is slower than just a good manual focus lens. However, and this is the big one, I'm shooting with an X-T30. My concern is that the EVF isn't good enough for 100% manual focusing. Any thoughts? FYI - my plan for the lens is so I can carry my camera a lot more. Also, If I go on budget airlines with only a carry on, I want the smallest and lightest camera gear, so I'd take the body + one pancake lens. I shoot mainly street, travel and family photos.
Yeah, Voigtlander is definitely a good choice if you primarily do manual focusing. I've never used the X-T30, but even in using the X-T50's LCD I there were tricks I used to acquire focus like pressing the back wheel in to punch in on the subject for focusing. I also tried zone focusing and stopping down a little (which is great for bright days anyway).
whe you say "speak to" of course you mean speak about... that "speak to" american expression is so moronic. you speak about thing not to them.
I've tested my Fujifilm X-S20 AF against my soon to be replaced Sony ZV-E10 and I'd give the edge to the X-S20. When shooting video, the Sony is not quite as quick to snap back to the subject when something comes between the subject and the camera. At times it hunts in those situations. The AF tracking on the X-S20 is a major upgrade over the X-S10. Whatever is plaguing the X-H2S firmware updates does not automatically apply to other Fujifilm cameras. Reviewers should not make the assumption that all Fujifilm cameras have those issues. The specs of the X-M5 blow the ZV-E10 out of the water and remain well ahead of the Mark II version of the Sony. The Sony ZV is a clumsy camera to use if we want to take control as everything is a menu dive. To make matters worse, the old Sony menu is a joke. It's basically a camera for phone users meant to be used in idiot mode and not a serious camera like the X-M5 with its external controls. BTW, the articulated screen makes using it bright light easier as it's possible to work the tilt to manage the glare and just like the GRIII, the Fujifilm screen brightness can be increased or decreased according to lighting conditions. The battery life of the X-M5 should be better than the GRIII. My X-M5 is on order and I'll be waving goodbye to the Sony together with my frustrations with it.
Those were some great shots and a solid video!
@@esteban7857 Thank you🙏🏿
What an honest, clear-explanation presentation! Kudos to you! At first, I thought what the heck is this presenter going to say in 12.5 minutes comparing these two collars! (SO MANY YT-ers waste my time!) I am NOT disappointed. Well done! I have looked at a few of these and you are the ONLY one that showed the all-important lens-release mechanism; ONLY ONE! I would choose the *new* Atoll S+ though, as it claims to have a more accommodating lens release build; we’ll see. Also, it allows for 360° rotation, which is important in inverted shooting. (And, being OCD, setting my $4K+ rig atop a tripod, I’d lock ANY collar when rotated!) Finally, its built-in PD base is a great bonus.
Thank you ! The explanations are really clear. Is it possible to binding a button on a XT5 the same way that you did on this XT50 ? i hesitate between this two camera. This dial is a thing but if i only use recipes via a programmable button, it could be a good option for me i think.
@@Currenseasy Thank you! I'm glad the video was helpful 🙌🏿 Yes, it is possible to add the shutter button to the X-T5 as well. In fact, I think most Fuji cameras allow you to do that. Whichever you choose between the X-T50 and X-T5, I don't think you can go wrong.
@@BrayGrayy Yes i think that too. XT50 seem's just really small in my hand. i'm not sure for now.
I have an XT4 with the huge 16-55 f2.8. It's great camera and lens with a very discrete shutter but so big and heavy I tend not to use it for street which, as an amateur, is my main interest. I looked around and found the XT50 with the kit lens and bought it without hesitation. Very small and light but somewhat overpriced imho. I don't like the film simulation dial but its main appeal was size and weight. The XT50 shutter seems to be as quiet and discrete as the XT4. The small size makes it even more discrete. The flip up screen is miles better for street. Battery life is fine for what I need it for. Weather proofing - if it's raining or a sandstorm, take precautions. The XT4 is going on MPB.
Thanks Bray . Tell me if I'm crazy to consider selling my XT5 for an XT50. I have both a Z8 and an XT5. I use the Nikon for landscape, sports ,nature and events and the XT5 for travel, street and casual shooting. I sold my XT100V to buy the Nikon Z8 and I miss it. The XT5 is not bad with the 27mm f2.8 or the new 16-50 kit lens but it's not really pocketable like the X100V or the XT50 with the 27mm. My main hesitation is 3 fold; no vertical tilt to the screen, not weather sealed, and the battery. In that order. Do you have any recommendations?
I have considered the XS20 as well. You can find them used for about 1K or less.
I don't think you're crazy at all. I actually recently sold MY X-T5 as well, since I already have the Sony A7CII and the X-T50. About your 3 concerns: 1) I'm not going to lie, sometimes I miss the vertical tilt screen when using the X-T50. However, it's not that much of an adjustment for me. 2) Weather sealing shouldn't be much of a concern unless you're going to be in some extreme weather... hot, wet, moist, and dusty areas. I take my X-T50 to the beach all the time and it's just fine. If you're going to try to use it in the rain, it can take a little bit of drizzle but I still recommend covering it up. 3) Battery life has been great for me! I admit I switch the camera off to preserve the battery when walking from one photo spot to the next, but I never really found myself needing a second battery. One battery gives me about 3 hours of shooting if I'm on a photo walk. The XS20 is a little more video-focused but it's a good camera. It's about the same size as the XT50 except for the grip that holds a larger battery.
@@BrayGrayy Nice thing about the XT5 is the resale is really good so I don't have to spend but a few hundred to switch to the XT50 and I already have the 16-50mm zoom and the 27mm f2.8. perhaps I'll sell my 10 -23mm and get the 8mm as well. Then I'd have a super light kit for travel
I have a xt50 I don’t have off option to turnoff my film sim
If you put the film dial on "C" and make sure your camera is set to "M" (or Manual) in the Q Menu, you should be good
You inspired me to choose a camera based on the criterion of stylish and pleasure to use it:) thank you 😊
@@EugenSbarciogProPostproduction Haha, that's important. It's also very capable too. It's a win/win 🙌🏿
awesome video! New Sub!
Thank you! 🙏🏿
thanks for this review!
Under what "normal" camera scenarios would the X100VI have the edge for weather sealed?
I just got my fujifilm x-t50 a few days ago and still learning so much! So let me see if I understood your video, I can shoot the film simulations while in auto mode but the custum recipes only in manual?
Congrats on your new camera 🙌🏿 ! Yes, that's correct... Film sims still work when you're in full auto mode but film recipes don't. However, you can switch individual things like shutter speed, ISO, and aperture into auto individually and have your film recipes still work. I hope that helps.
@ Thank you! Ok got it. I have to dive into triangle of exposure again. I had trouble understanding it
Im absolute with you
Great points made. I have the X-T30II and X-T3. I just pre ordered the X-M5 and am excited to start taking fabulous photos with it.
Nice, I'm excited as well! I think the X-M5 is going to be a great little camera 😁
Love the reviews thanks. Great idea bringing the portable light along.
Great presentational style
Thank you🙏🏿
The X-T 'Double Digit' was always a great buy when it was two thirds of the price of the X-T 'Single Digit'. I guess the only way to justify the crazy high price IS to think of it as a mildly cheaper and slightly more available X100 series. But still... that price!?!
great review - I just ordered because of you for my first camera :)
That's great🙌🏿 I hope you enjoy it!
Absolutely agree- this is the Ricoh GRiv we’ve been waiting for Plus great video. Don’t see any reason to buy a GR anymore. Thanks for the thoughtful comparison
Bro great video and insight! I am looking at these lenses to play with on my xt4. Subscribed 🤙
Thank you! I'm glad I could provide some helpful insights 🙌🏿
Great review. Easy to watch and listen. Great attitude. I agree that too many photographers expect the camera to get the shot for them and while Fuji definitely needs to fix their AF woes, it’s still just fine. People need to improve their camera skills more.
I'd definitely be interested in that A7C vs X-T50 shootout.
Yes for the comparison of X-M5 and the Sony. I think X-M5 is really geared towards content creators and basic photography. I am definitely considering getting one. Having an XT-20, it'll be fun to work with the X-M5 camera.
I agree with all your point I think, it's definitely not meant to be a pro camera. definitely more so aimed for people who want to get into fujifilm or people who already own them and want a smaller/compact camera for secondary use or more leisure stuff. I pre-ordered this as well; definitely looking forward to using it. will be great for trips and family events so I don't have to take my xt4 with it's battery grip and all that i use for more professional stuff
Just what I needed to hear! Thanks! I was trying to decide, for my first camera, the x-t5 or the x-t50. My mind is made up now, I’m going to get the x-t50. Great video and way to catch what other reviewers were not covering and making a great video about it.
That's awesome! I'm glad I could help you make that decision 🙌🏿
I’m an outdoor person, Love hiking and riding bikes. For those activities I was using a GRIII because of size and competence as a photographic tool. I bought it when it came out. The photos are really good but after a while I realized (again) that 18 mm respectively 28 mm is too wide for me. On top the dial on the back und recently the other dials too became totally unreliable, values jumping without reason and having no control over them at any point. As far as the net goes this problem is known. To get it fixed cost too much. So I was looking for another very compact camera but there aren’t much out there. Now the x-m5 was introduced and it might just fit my purpose. The kit lens though is out of question. I rather have the 16-50 or the 27 mm pancake lens. The price ist really good on the x-m5. But I will maybe wait to see what an x-e5 might be.
As someone who has just ordered a new X-T50 I really appreciate your guides and I will look out for these items in the UK where I live. Thanks BrayGray.
Ordered the X-M5 with a XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR. I have a X100F I like because it's small takes decent pics and the video quality imo is great. I also have a Nikon 850 with the 24 - 70 2.8. Great camera but it is so bulky and heavy I don't like carrying it for personal work or just for fun. It is a workhorse. I'm hoping the X-M5 with the 16-55 will be my "Baby Bear" and motivate me to shoot and posting more videos as opposed to straight up photography which since the advent of the iPhone seems not in vogue.
I have the xt5, xh2s, xe1, Ricoh gr3, Ricoh gr3x, Hasselblad 501cm, Leica m6ttl, Fuji 18,23,33 f1.4 lenses, 50,80,150 for Hasselblad and 35 and 50 f2 lenses for the Leica. I also have a Nikon f2, plus 3 screw fit leicas, Nikon d200 and d700. Should I get the xt50 and the xm5 ?.
Hey Thanks! just got mine today! Very excited to use it as my edc. +feautures and func, and I'd like how it weighs -weather sealed/tilting capabilities *Is 23mm lens good me to start??
The 23mm f/2 is a great lens to start with! Nice and compact and It will give you a full frame equivalent 35mm field of view.
@@BrayGrayy Thanks! got my 23mm 1.4
@@Micsx-13 Ah, I see... even better for low light and portraits 🙌🏿
thank you for common sense.. people getting hysterical about nothing open gate on a camera this size with 4:2:2 are you kidding me AND half the price of a x100 whatever amazeBalls
Love the red button! What brand is it?
I believe the brand is JJC
As an X100V owner, I’ve been looking to get something that’s more video/cinema centric with glass options (even though, it gets beautiful footage), but the $2500 to shell out for the XH2s is a bit much. However, the X-T5 and the X-T50 are very much in the convo too! Even considered jumping out to Canon with an R6mk2 (I shoot on an R6 at work) or a Sony FX30, but really don’t want to leave the Fuji ecosystem tbh. Decisions! Great vid, brother. Subbed!
Thank you! Yeah for video-centric Fuji, your best bets are probably the X-M5 or X-S20 if you don't want to break the bank
@@BrayGrayy thank you for the response, Bray! Yeah looks like it will probably be the X-S20 for the win. From there, I may step up later, but it seems a good place to start.
I would love to see the shootout. Great idea!
Great videos of the X-T50. I am an owner from august this year and love the ME options. I came across your video when I was looking for accessories to my camera and now looking through the rest. I just purchased a macro lens for my camera today since I love macro photography. Will try it out on Monday when I am off work and the weather is more macro friendly :) Please feel free to do a video about macro if you have the time or interest for it of course.
@@gudnyaman7262 Thank you and welcome to my channel! I don't any macro lenses, BUT I did just pick up a wide angle zoom that has some macro capabilities. I'll make sure I test that out when I talk about the lens on the channel
Great video. You just helped me decide which model to go with. I’m new to the EDC camera scene and the X100VI is still back ordered. I had narrowed it down to the X-T50 as the best alternative, and you helped confirm that I’m on the right track. I had even planned to get the 27mm lens to keep it slim and portable.
That's great! I'm glad my video helped you find the right X100VI alternative 🙌🏿
when GR4??
@@willybobo8846 Haha, your guess is as good as mine for when the GR4 is coming? 🤷🏿♂️

10000% would love to see the shootout between the xt50 and A7CII - I'm currently rocking the xt50 with the 35mm 1.4 - but very curious about the a7cii - I have a ZV-E10 for video since I know the sony autofocus is better on video for sure - but debating the jump to FF in the A series or staying fuji and getting an XH2s
Yep, I'm working on it. Hmm, that's a tough decision 🤔
