It is not good for an instructor to scold the driver or make him/her feel embarrassed. Such actions can cause the driver to become frustrated and make more mistakes. Scolding the driver will not correct the mistakes. It will make them worse in fact. What the instructor can do is to calmly address the mistake and tell the driver what he/she can do next time to avoid making the same mistake
100% I have 2 different instructors. 1 is a sweet old lady who was a former examiner. Sometimes it feels like she's gonna start knitting while I'm driving. Always complimenting when I do something well and fills me with confidence. Will say "you got everything right just remember to shoulder check when you turn on your indicator but otherwise perfect. You're doing so well you're pretty much ready for the road test from what I can see". The other one is a guy in his 40's who doesn't let me demonstrate anything and constantly grabbing the wheel and using his brake for no reason. Won't let me drive unless there are zero cars in either direction. Constantly shouting directions. If it was just him I'd probably stop at one lesson. Honestly I much more prefer female instructors.
Dam it feels good watching these after passing the test, I can just chill now and watch these for entertainment rather than me studying these and being so nervous😂😂 everyone u got this just believe
I had my test today and was very nervous, forgot to check in for the driving portion and had to reschedule to an hour later. My examiner was a young lady and was very nice and helpful. I passed with only 3 minor errors and got my license. Good luck to all of you, believe in yourself!
Passed my test today! Good luck to you guys! Tips: -Take your time when parallel parking. -Make sure to not go above the speed limit not even by 1. Preferably always be a few km/miles from the speed limits. You just have to go into these confident and realize that anything they say isn’t personal, but I get. Some of these instructors should not be instructors. My first drivers test I was physically and verbally assaulted in the car. I brought it to the driving places attention and it wasn’t that lady’s first time. She was fired. I also got failed for going a 21 in a 20 sooo you know that lady didn’t have any reality in her.
I did get nervous when I did my roadtest, and it's actually almost impossible not to get nervous when it's your first time doing the road test. My tip from you is, drive normally, imagine the examiner isn't there beside you, or imagine just driving your family out to dinner that way you get less nervous. Remember this is only a 10-15 minute test, you just have to show the examiner that you are a safe and defensive driver. If you've practiced 1-2 hours a day or maybe more, the test will feel short. Overall just be confident, imagine the examiner isn't there, drive normally and get that license!
As long as your confident then you’ll know when your ready . Keep practicing. I passed on my first try . I didn’t have a clue on how to drive when I started . Good luck

Her waiting on the green light to turn here 5:21 was so awkward and weird for me. Even I as a learner from CA, counted at least 3 big enough gaps to make the turn. I know the on coming traffic has the right of way on green but me personally, I would not wait that long to turn
No fucking chance he switched lanes in the intersection and crossed center lines multiple times, close call turning when the light was solid green, just some cringe moments overall ??? 94??? What in the world…

I just passed my test a few days ago 1st try. Pretty easy if you have previous driving experience. Just hope you get a good instructor and don't overthink it.
When a 16/17 year old is nervous enough, probably tons of anxiety how does a rude instructor making him feel embarrassed and stupid how will that help? I’d love to know. My driving instructor was fairly young, super nice lady was talking to me and understood I was nervous. I ended up with a perfect score sometimes people fail because of the instructors

You guys are so lucky :( my examiner was a mean spirited lady who kept scolding me with every move I made from the start, even with parallel parking. I failed because I made a dumb decision to inch forward into busy traffic to make a right. But at that point I could not think anymore because my brain was too frozen :(
Took my test and passed today, and my examiner was really nice and laid back. This examiner definitely needs to work on his tone as it only makes the student more nervous. Even an experienced driver will be far more prone to make mistakes when they have an impatient and somewhat condescending person in the passenger seat. When the student got the those directions wrong, the examiner overreacted way to much. I almost got directions wrong on my test and the examiner calmly clarified her directions.
I passed my test yesterday with only a couple small errors, instructor said I did great. I can finally chill watching these videos instead of using them to study 😭 to everyone who has yet to take their test I know it can be nerve wracking but just relax and take your time and try to be as confident as possible when the driver instructor gets in your car, even if you’re really nervous try to show them you’re ready. Also remember the worst that can happen is you don’t pass and learn from it for your next test or best case scenario you pass! The test is not a make or break deal.
It's crazy. My road test was literally about 5 minutes. I spent probably two minutes actually driving and the other three minutes showing her proper techniques such as properly reversing, sudden stopping, and 3 point turning. The written exam for my permit was 50x more difficult than the actual physical test itself 💀
I was nervous my first test then passed second try. Being nervous can be dangerous in the road but being scolded is very stressful for a new driver and will impair their focus!! He just needs more practice !!
For anyone watching this to prepare themselves for their road test as a person who’s had his license for 4 years since October 15, 2018 the main thing is don’t be nervous and be confident in your practice and driving skills. I failed my road test 3 times because I was nervous and not confident in my driving, but once I got it together I passed my road test with ease and now I can drive like second nature in any condition. Also, if you have the choice of using your car or the DMV’s car use yours ALWAYS. You’ll be more comfortable and confident and it’ll save you money trust me😂
I'm glad you were able to pass! It's nerve-wracking to take the road test for sure even when you've already had a license and do know how to drive haha. My driver's license expired before I moved to a different state so I have to take the road test again tomorrow at 11AM and I am nervous tbh. My advice to new drivers is: don't beat yourself up if you don't pass the first time. Think of it as practice for the next time you take the test. As for choosing your car or someone else's, just make sure your locality doesn't have additional requirements for cars on road tests. I was turned away by the DMV where I live for my road test because my car doesn't have a handbrake accessible to the examiner. This is stated clearly by them on the website so definitely my bad lol.
Just a little bit over 24 years ago in mid November 1999 that I failed my driver’s test by a couple points. A month later that I took it again and I passed the 2nd test in mid December 1999. I even had my 1st car in both tests. The car was a 1998 Ford Contour SE in light denim blue that I gotten in mid October 1999. I don’t have that car no more. I had about 4 vehicles after that car. My current car is a 2020 Ford Escape SE that I gotten in mid March 2022. I always drive carefully. I don’t do that much of night time driving because of the deer.
The instructor is just yelling and making him more nervous. Yelling at someone to stop being nervous isn’t going to help. Instead calmly let him know where he went wrong.
Just finished my road test today and passed first try! Main thing is to relax and only focus on what things to do correctly. if you mess up to panic and try to correct it, continue and do everything right afterwards.
The instructor is overly strict and that just makes the student even more nervous lol …. The instructor needs a little more patience because im pretty sure he was also the cause of the student being more nervous
To be fair, the examiner has an extremely heavy accent; was he speaking English? It sounded like it but I couldn't tell. He is very hard to understand.
I just passed my driving test today for the first try! Secret is knowing what you're doing and make sure that the examiner will feel safe and relax throughout your drive. Its okay to be nervous but don't let it ruin your confidence! Breath 3 times before driving to ease that tension and be aware and alert. Best of luck to all of you!!
Too all those Who has anxiety over behind the wheel you guys got this I passed my behind the wheel test a few months ago because of these videos if I can pass it anybody can just make sure you practice a lot before you take the test in you will be Good.
i'm the opposite lol, I was not nervous nor confidence like it's just a normal day. Failed with speeding, failed to make complete stops and not listening. 😭
I would have passed him yes he made some mistakes and going over the center line is dangerous but there was that 1 time I don't count the second. He did an amazing job of yielding to that truck that ran that red light that guy was an idiot and his yielding was very clean and smooth! More practice and he'll be an amazing driver. It's not a gift it's not a right it's a privilege! Be safe guys! From Canada!
I passed my drivers test on the first try June 1st it feels good knowing I don’t have to prepare or get nervous also the parallel parking and reverse parking are just so easy to me idk why
Passed my road test today!!! thanks for the videos! wanna share my experience a little. First of all I took mine a town very close to mine since mine doesn't actually offer the road test. I arrive 45 minutes early to see no one else was there so the lady let me take mine early which was a plus. But that was just about one of the only good things. She was a terrible examiner! First she criticized me for taking my time on the mechanical portion by saying things like your way to slow and if your this nervous that's your fault and I don't wanna be in the car with you. That hurt my confidence a ton and made me feel bad. But we get on the road and she's constantly criticizing my speed ( I was going 44 in a 45). At that point I knew she a mean lady or just having a bad day. We basically only went one block and pulled back in, it was literally a 6 minute test. I was sure I failed after us turning into the dmv because the way she had been acting throughout the drive. She started by asking me the things I could work on and even though in my opinion my speed was very much up to par during this test I said my speed and turning. She eventually just said you passed but that's not where it ends. We are doing the paper work and she is talking to my parent about the things I could work on, and says "I never wanna be back in the car with him he was a nervous wreck." not only was I driving what I would say well but to add on to it she was the one just knit picking me anytime she could. OF COURSE I AM GONNA BE NERVOUS AFTER THAT. But I'm extremely blessed to say I passed and can finally start driving on my own, and I do hope she does learn better social skills for her job, I don't think an examiner should get in and start riding their students ass unless its absolutely necessary because it really does mess with the rest of the test and their confidence behind the wheel.
He was a little nervous which caused him to mess up a little in the beginning but for the most part he did good nothing like the title and the guy talking in the beginning made it seem like it was going to be just terrible.
Yeah im in agreement here, I've watched most of this guys videos; i appreciate his efforts and his commentary and analysis is usually quite good, but I do feel like he was being a bit harsh with this student specifically, probably because of that hiccup at the start and because of how long he takes to turn left (Which to be fair having done my road test in Quebec, some examiners will fail you if cars are coming even if you had enough time to compete the turn, so for the purposes of the road tests here your have to be as overcautious as the student in this video was with the left turns even though you may not drive THAT cautiously irl) Regarding the centerline bit, as was mentioned in the video pretty much everyone steps over that line, in general the way we're taught to drive here is if there's parked cars, cyclists, or anything if the sort on our right then we can step over the centreline even if we technically don't need to just to provide an extra safety margin between whatever's on the right, provided of course that no cars are coming (in which case we have to stay in our lane). That said at the point where the student did step over it there was nothing in the right so i'm not sure why he didn't stay in his lane but oh well.
What is this lol, his driving was fine apart from the start and turning left into that truck. Examiner is rude and overreacted when he was about to turn left earlier than he should've. Nothing dangerous about that.
i passed my drivers test a year ago yesterday! the road test can be extremely nerve wrecking, but i’d suggest practicing in a particular area then taking the road test somewhere around there. that way you’ll be familiar with the roads and it’ll all feel less stressful:) also it’s okay to make a few (small) mistakes on the road test it will not cause you to fail. good luck everyone ☺️
He doesn’t seem like a bad driver looks like he knows the basics just having a hard time with listening and nervousness. Good luck to everyone taking their written test and drivers test 🙏🏽
just him not being able to drive half normally even while nervous is a bad sign, if he cant drive with someone in the car imagine how bad he will be when he is alone and there isnt anyone to correct him
@@haydenculley3794 he was obviously nervous I’m sure you weren’t the greatest on your first time. I didn’t say he was a good driver he was nervous and needs practice and to not hold up traffic if you’re able to go. 🤦♀️ that was my own opinion
I passed both my road tests on the first try. I'm in my late 20s. My family didn't have a car when I was younger and I just never planned to own a car either (even now), so getting a license wasn't a priority until I changed fields. I started with driving school and took additional private lessons before each test, so I knew the current rules of the road and how a tester will give instructions. I also drove with a couple cousins, my ex-boss, etc, so I've dealt with different personalities beside me. I think the variety really helped me when test day came. If you've only driven with one person, and that person is a family member or friend, having a test with a stranger is foreign territory. It's easy to feel self conscious around people you don't know, especially if you're not confident in your own skills.
Wow! These roads are very spacious. I'm taking driving lessons in NY. It's very challenging. If you're not dealing with blocked traffic, it's the double parked cars, jaywalking pedestrians, drivers honking behind you and cutting you off for either driving at the speed limit or for following the flow of traffic and rules. More than that, you have to deal with big delivery trucks blocking the one way streets, or ambulances etc. I drive very well in the nice quiet residential streets but when I get into major intersections, the anxiety sets in. Still have a few more lessons to go before taking the test. Hope the anxiety stops before then.
student is going to turn left before where examiner told him to. - you are nervouse and dangerouse!!! what is the danger? examiner doesn't know that area? fire that jerk
To be fair, he did say "turn left at the lights", listening to instructions is part of the test. As long as he corrected himself safely then it's fine which he did. I didnt see anything "dangerous".
The green arrow that indicated 'left' should have been on and 'Red' (or at least blinking yellow) the whole time. The green light may confuse a lot of drivers.
I’m a driving instructor in Melbourne Australia, love the video of the driving test. Great insight to how things a not much different between our 2 Nations. Although our testing officers are not as helpful as yours. In Melbourne, you can’t start a conversation with the testing officers, but I have to say one thing about the States, you drive on the wrong side off the road. Thank you for the vid. God Bless.
I am less nervous, (regardless of me getting my license at 31, THIS year,), on june 22nd, watching these videos ( birthdate: 6/16/1992.) As you can see, I get my license 6 days after my 31st birthday!! I guess i am a late bloomer.. Unfortunately, I cant practice practice because no one in my family can legally drive and my friends agreed to helping me out, but never pull through even when offered compensation. I feel stuck

There's always room for improvement just keep practicing u got this buddy!
U people need to learn patience or u don't need to be working in that job people learn things at thier own pace yall need chill out
exactly
That’s very true.
Why did he not take any opportunities on that left turn…. He had a few times he could’ve went…. People even slowed down thinking he’d go
I just passed my test with one error, a shoulder check today. May the best of luck be with you all on your upcoming tests!!
I have my test this Friday, I feel very confident because of these videos! Thank you!
You can do it!
I pass on my second try
The instructor is just yelling and making him more nervous. Yelling at someone to stop being nervous isn’t going to help. Instead calmly let him know where he went wrong.
Yeah. If someone was having a seizure you wouldn’t tell them to stop having a seizure, that doesn’t make sense.
Exactly. It felt rude
Just finished my road test today and passed first try! Main thing is to relax and only focus on what things to do correctly. if you mess up to panic and try to correct it, continue and do everything right afterwards.
just passed my road test.thanks to this channel.
The instructor is overly strict and that just makes the student even more nervous lol …. The instructor needs a little more patience because im pretty sure he was also the cause of the student being more nervous
Ya but if that student made those errors in the state, he would have failed 100%. The instructor was nice in the regard of passing him.
No way! If he was, he would've failed him with a 45 with all the errors he committed
To be fair, the examiner has an extremely heavy accent; was he speaking English? It sounded like it but I couldn't tell. He is very hard to understand.
He was, but because this was in Quebec, French is likely his first language.
I passed my drives test like 2months ago in Maryland but I still love watching these vids
just passed the test on july 7th! you might feel nervous leading up to the test but once you're behind the wheel your practice should show itself :)
Great job!
i'm the opposite lol, I was not nervous nor confidence like it's just a normal day. Failed with speeding, failed to make complete stops and not listening. 😭
The examiner’s regular voice sounds intimidating. Can’t really blame the guy
it feels good watching these after I passed my exam earlier today. I am at peace finally
That examiner sounds terrifying
the guy is so rude!!! how is he suppose to feel relaxed if he’s rude
If you are watching this before your test, you can do it because I did so you definitely can!!!!
I PASSED MY DRIVERS TEST. I GOT A 92% Thank you so much this channel helped a lot!
Congrats!
I passed my drivers test on the first try June 1st it feels good knowing I don’t have to prepare or get nervous also the parallel parking and reverse parking are just so easy to me idk why
now that i’ve passed i can watch the failed tests
Great job - Congrats!!
I had a similar experience too.. my examiner was not kind at all but just glad to have passed
LMAO at 6:28 i thought the same thing “was that a red light runner?”😭
He was a little nervous which caused him to mess up a little in the beginning but for the most part he did good nothing like the title and the guy talking in the beginning made it seem like it was going to be just terrible.
Yeah im in agreement here, I've watched most of this guys videos; i appreciate his efforts and his commentary and analysis is usually quite good, but I do feel like he was being a bit harsh with this student specifically, probably because of that hiccup at the start and because of how long he takes to turn left (Which to be fair having done my road test in Quebec, some examiners will fail you if cars are coming even if you had enough time to compete the turn, so for the purposes of the road tests here your have to be as overcautious as the student in this video was with the left turns even though you may not drive THAT cautiously irl)
Regarding the centerline bit, as was mentioned in the video pretty much everyone steps over that line, in general the way we're taught to drive here is if there's parked cars, cyclists, or anything if the sort on our right then we can step over the centreline even if we technically don't need to just to provide an extra safety margin between whatever's on the right, provided of course that no cars are coming (in which case we have to stay in our lane). That said at the point where the student did step over it there was nothing in the right so i'm not sure why he didn't stay in his lane but oh well.
What is this lol, his driving was fine apart from the start and turning left into that truck. Examiner is rude and overreacted when he was about to turn left earlier than he should've. Nothing dangerous about that.
i passed my drivers test a year ago yesterday! the road test can be extremely nerve wrecking, but i’d suggest practicing in a particular area then taking the road test somewhere around there. that way you’ll be familiar with the roads and it’ll all feel less stressful:) also it’s okay to make a few (small) mistakes on the road test it will not cause you to fail. good luck everyone ☺️
i spent the whole week watching these videos and i passed! i failed my first time so i was very nervous.
Way to go!!!
Right off the start I cringed almost caused a head on crash there
He doesn’t seem like a bad driver looks like he knows the basics just having a hard time with listening and nervousness. Good luck to everyone taking their written test and drivers test 🙏🏽
He definitely is a bad driver
just him not being able to drive half normally even while nervous is a bad sign, if he cant drive with someone in the car imagine how bad he will be when he is alone and there isnt anyone to correct him
@@darussian705 he would be less nervous and calm and make less mistakes when alone
@@darussian705 he will be calmer without someone judging him
@@haydenculley3794 he was obviously nervous I’m sure you weren’t the greatest on your first time.
I passed my test today!!! It wasn’t bad at all
student is going to turn left before where examiner told him to.
It looks like this is in Quebec, since the stop signs say Arret and I noticed the Irving gas stations.
6:00 dude that light was making me mad holy cow. Sometimes it is like they purposely want people to mess up on their driving lol.
The green arrow that indicated 'left' should have been on and 'Red' (or at least blinking yellow) the whole time. The green light may confuse a lot of drivers.
Hey if you feel better I just passed my test and I’ve never practiced once on the main streets until day of the test just drive and good luck
God Bless.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is in Quebec Canada actually, not the US. I thought it was the US at first too.
If we do, then most drivers in the world do. Some 65%. Right side driving is King, mate!
I am less nervous, (regardless of me getting my license at 31, THIS year,), on june 22nd, watching these videos ( birthdate: 6/16/1992.) As you can see, I get my license 6 days after my 31st birthday!! I guess i am a late bloomer.. It's cool being able to watch these videos, without getting nervous.. at the same time, I am on tbe supportive side....
I got mine on my 33rd birthday in February. Best birthday ever
@@melmansfield2575 congratulations.. that's very nice. Wow.. wait.. you got yours on your birthday? That's awesome
@@melmansfield2575 I didn't mean anything by it. I'm apparently considered a late bloomer
do you live outside of usa? I'm of similar age but got mine at 18 because we have to drive everywhere here.
@@turtle2470 no. I'm american. It was a struggle, hence it seems, that I was hindered by the ones who work at the license station, here, at Iowa.. like I said, I would call myself a late bloomer
TRUST in your self and you will do great!
If I had an examiner like this I would’ve most definitely failed bc I struggle with anxiety too
I was screaming at 6:00 he had so many openings!
i was failed on the spot for forgetting to look in my blind spot once when going into a left turning lane dude told me i was way too nervous and to come back tomorrow
Had mine yesterday, it was super fast and easy. There is no reason to be Nervous
Got my test in a few hours little nervous but I’m confident in my driving, wish me luck!
UPDATE: I passed !
Congradulations i passed mine august 26th
my test was today and i pass just be confident and you will pass good luck
I totally understand being nervous for your drivers test, but I would never pass this guy. His nerves cloud his judgment, and I think he would benefit from more driving practice so he can be confident in his skills.
Unfortunately, I cant practice practice because no one in my family can legally drive and my friends agreed to helping me out, but never pull through even when offered compensation. I feel stuck
@@AlphaLul driving school is about $50-60/h in my area. I asked my sisters husband if I can pay an affordable rate (after he offered free lessons) then asked for $50 hourly and everyone else doesn't know how. I have my permit , but no one to sit next to me so I can practice. Thats why I watch these videos 💯
@@joliax1646 the $50/hr is worth it. I think you can find $40 though that's what my wife pays.
@@michaelmackenzie3340 Yes it's a work in progress lol
I feel you...no one drives at home as well so I cant practice...i can only watch videos and imagine...after finally convincing myself that I need to learn how to drive since uber and lyft are becoming expensive, i got my permit and just had my driving lesson last week...its 80 per hr in our area and min of 2 hr per day..
I had a similar situation didnt have anyone to teach me patiently so I decided to start driving the car by myself and went to dmv by myself to practice parallel parking just doing what the videos told me to. That started like 3 months ago, now I feel so confident. I hope you can do the same, I haven’t take my test yet, but the best thing is that I am confident.
Ok but can we talk about the clouds? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Now I can watch these without feeling nervous since I passed my test lol
Yo same
Same, I've got my license the day after my birthday
My test was only about 10 mins total and it was super easy for me! I’ve gotten 3 permits and never got around to taking my driving test because I was so nervous. I practiced non stop for 2 weeks and passed with 2 errors!!
this was almost the same as me except i had probably a total of 5hrs driving over the year and a half i had my permit 😭 still passed
The examiner was so rude.
18:09 Not a confident driver at first but I saw very little dangerousness and is not as terrible as the title suggested. It is definitely a pass.
Definitely had a rough start but was actually decent after that.
My test tomorrow at 1pm n I've been watching yall videos for a min to expand my knowledge n I've learned many things from your videos n you explain things very well. I'm nervous about my test but I hope everything goes well
Hoping all goes well for you!
Good luck!!
Update: I passed !! Only one mistake. Thank yall for the motivation
the examiner is a little confusing
Tbh I thought he was saying "a slight turn to the left" but he said "next light turn to the left" 😅 Took me a second to realize why he was scolding him.
My test date is May 21st 2024 and very nervous. It's been 35 yrs. since i've had a license because of a seizure disorder but have been seizure free over 2 years now. Please pray for me.
You got this 👍
