Rest in peace to both Superman and Lois 🙏🏿
And Sarah Douglas.
@@duncancurtis5108Sarah Douglas is still alive
R. I. P. to both Margot Kidder and Christopher Reeve.
This role was beneath Gene Hackman.
My dad took me to see this movie on the opening night and I’ll never forget how much we all cheered once Superman started to crush General Zod‘s hand and the music started in.
It was the first time I’d ever gone to a movie where the audience audibly cheered. It was amazing.
Had the exact same experience
Was just going to post, I remember watching the first time and being so desolate that, no it can't be he's lost all his powers :-O .
dunno about cheering, this would have been the uk :D
That must've been incredible! I was born a bit too late to catch it in theaters but I still remember how I lost my mind from excitement when I first saw this scene on VHS.
Yeah, being a kid and watching that on the big screen was unforgettable. And that was when big screen was not your TV.
I love the crunching sound of Zod's hand 👍
bone crunching followed by the subtly building superman theme is top notch
@@kineticdeathAs much as I like the themes Zimmer came up with for the modern Superman movies, there really is only one John Williams…
@@robertbusek30 John Williams is amazing 👍
@@kineticdeath 👍
@@BloodiedFearr they f---ed with sup's babe. He wanted to make zod pay hard for that.
Superman was really having fun playing along with them. He even kneeled before Zod just to mess with his mind.
Well done clark
@@larryfrazier5925 I used to play this game at school I was never very good at it
That school kid walking to the principle act was all Clark. Many years of bowing to ordinary human bosses trained him well to conceal his strength.
I love how Superman smiles at Zod after crushing every bone in his hand into powder.
Much better than Cavill’s screaming outburst in Man of Steel.
is that what happened? powder you say?
Christopher Reeve. May God keep you 😢🙏🏻
@@GeekX3010 God would have been more useful a little earlier in Christopher's life. Maybe He was off playing golf or something. 🙄
@@framework-d1u How insensitive, man! 😑
@@GeekX3010 How? 🙂
@@framework-d1uDon't play dumb. You're insulting our God, aren't you?
@GeekX3010 I'm certainly questioning the idea that gods exist, which is a highly questionable idea. 🙂
No one will ever replace Christopher Reeve . He will always be the ICONIC SUPERMAN
The late Christopher Reeve, is pure DC All In.
I really wish we had had a Reeve/Keaton crossover movie…
I’ve always liked Christopher Reaves over the other people who played Superman, even though black-and-white TV series.😊
He was always my inspiration
I remember watching this great movie over and over in the 80s
I love this scene because it shows that *Superman* realized that using punches and powers weren't going to win the battle. Thus, *Superman* finally understood his opponents (including Lex Luthor's deceitful ways) and went back to his *Fortress of Solitude* and used "prep-time" to outsmart them. Furthermore, in the first film *Lex Luthor* said "Mind over muscle" to *Superman* as a way to show his dominance over our hero. Now in this film, *Superman* did exactly that in this scene and when *Lex Luthor* realized it, *Superman* pointed to his head gesturing, "Yep, Luthor. Mind over muscle. I used my brain."
batman would be proud😊
And even Luthor is impressed that he got played by Superman…
Thanks, Captain Obvious.
I thought Superman couldn’t lie.
@@PittAfterSchool why?
Crushes General Zod’s hand, cue John Williams’ music……. Awesome!!!
John Williams remains the GOAT forever
3:55 "Hey, you know something? You're a real pain in the neck!" 💥🤛
"AAAUauUUUUUUUUGH 😩😩" 💀
Seeing Lois punch Ursa warmed my heart.
@@seanwolslau-holdren6731 Supes should have married Ursa j/k I got a thing for Ursa for some reason 😂
@johncap6495 I beg to differ. Zod, Non, and Ursa were criminals who were bent on conquering and ruling Earth. Sure, Ursa is a fellow kryptonian, but as Jor-El put it, "Who's perversions and unreasoning hatred for all mankind have threatened even the children of Krypton,"
I would have scooped ursa up and pushed lois into the ice fog drop.
Classic movie ❤❤❤❤❤❤
All American Classic...they can keep remaking them, but these movies will always stand the test of time.
The most iconic scene ever
I like Henry Cavill a lot as Superman, but this Reeve is the Superman!
I wish Cavill had better writing to work with. So much wasted potential.
He's THE Clark Kent as well.
Everyone is so young! Gene Hackman always a treat. I never could reconcile whether Superman should have kneeled or not.
He’s so good whatever he’s in.
I mean, he had won, so why not have a bit of fun, lol.
It's a great callback that makes Zods downfall even more ironic: In the scenes where jor-el sentences the three to the phantom zone(not sure if this is in the theatrical cut tho), zod loudly declares that Jor's children will kneel before him. So Zod wound up having his wish fulfilled, but not in the manner in which he intended 😏
Don't you LOVE that JOHN WILLIAM'S SCORE?
and all the others
Been crushing on Ursa (Sarah Douglas) for over 35 years. ❤
Back when movie theaters kept movies for almost a year on the screens. My father took me to see the first one, which was still selling out. Another movie has just come out at the time called The Warriors. There were only single seats left. One in the front and one in the back. I sat in the front🤣 at the time you knew this was something special.
Best SuperMan movie to date.
I love how Zod has to qualify his statement about Superman being his slave, with a pause, forever. Very dignified ;)
superman was very intelligent to outsmart lex
Christopher Reeve, the ultimate Superman looking!
Superman tricked Zod
And the best way Superman did that was by using his brain, outsmarting Zod.
Superman definitely had something up his Kryptonian sleeve.
@@RedPyramid-lf4sbAnd also Superman outsmarted Luthor too.

Thanks captain obvious 😂
the best superman ever
Love this scene ❤
This was very funny vídeo. Superman have his powers back. Rest in peace Christopher Reeve. I miss you. 😢😊😅😂❤🎉
3:14 the crack was awesome
Superman was my first crush. I swooned so hard; I couldn’t finished my popcorn.🥰
Superman was Zod's last crush. His hand, that is.
The good old switcheroo on the superpower taketh away machine! Genius!
The shot all that in a day. Started at 10 am, by 3 they were done.
Great film, rip Christopher, great clip in the film
I love this scene because it shows that Superman was playing chess while the villians were playing checkers.
"Lex Luthor, Ruler of Australia, activate the machine."
That moment the music kicks in when he crushes Zod's hand is pure magic.
@@aribhugoo454 yep some said there’s no emotional growth for the characters here. Emotional? Your comment defines emotional. People literally get goosebumps when the hand cracks and the iconic music blasts
@@johncap6495 Yup. And if you watch it 1000 times, you get the same feels as the first time.
@@sledgehammer301 yep! I’ve learned that this week😂 If I was Supes I’d take Ursa for a spin 😂
He played the best Zod!
Non was none too smart was he.
'OMG General Zod has lost his powers....Let me fly and...Oh Yeah. That would also include me'
No. ..he lived to play Simon Moon in the Hero and the Terror ..
I met gene Hackman , he was tall,
I love this scene in the Donner's cut.
We all need a friend like luthor 😅
Margot was a such cute Lois Lane. Her, Christopher and Gene. Perfect casting.
Best "gotcha" ever.
The Greatest and only SUPERMAN "Christopher Reeve" !!
Christopher Reeve was Superman. Period.
Christopher Reeve and Helen Slater (Supergirl) are the best casting for superhero films ever. Their perfect hairs, bodies, height, the shape of their faces, they really look like comicbook people.
You didn't like Supergirl on CW with Melissa Benoist?
@@way2gocurtis I love her too, Melissa is a beautiful lady.
Well, anyone could look like that when you have a whole team of people to help build you to the role, including a personal trainer with an extnsive workout program to follow, a dietician and nutritionist, a makeup artist, a hair stylist, a costume artist, a personal tailor, acting and voice coaches, script writers telling you what to say, and lighting techs who can shoot you from your best angles every time.
@@djparaense Brandon Routh looked a lot like Reeve. Very tall and muscular. Probably even more so than Reeve. Reeve almost lost the audition because he was considered too skinny to play Superman. He had to bulk up a lot to convince them he was right for the role.
@@paul16451we know you could
Superman, when you get that machine with the green crystal, you become even more powerful and normal. Urus and General Zod lose their powers well done man of steel and rest in peace my number one through man who is born on my birth year 1978.
And years later, Zod would lose his chancellorship in the galaxy of Star Wars
Classic
In the end, Zod did get everything he wanted. If only for a minute.
But I find interesting is that is what it took to defeat Zod. Give Zod what Zod felt like he was cheated out of and then let Karma do the rest.
Terrence Stamp was the best portrayal of the villain, Zod.
Back when I saw the movie, I thought he was old. He was a puppy compared to my age now, and he's still around.
I always asked myself: Why did Lex Luthor not start the molecule converter again, after he recognized what had happened? Superman would be helpless, because this time he was outside the chamber.
powerless is not the same as helpless. even without powers, farm boy could still beat him up. also, I am not sure there was a way off that stage without flying.
Zod : Chancellor Valorum, Kneel before Zod.
Valorum: The Jedi will stop You
Zod: Then They will kneel before Zod as well.
Adorei o vídeo
The part where Superman picks up Zod overhead. I guess even Superman sweats.
I Love that film!💙💙💙💙💙
Note that when he killed Zod, he didn't drop to his knees in a conflicted fit of screaming
As it turns out in an alternate scene, he didn’t kill them. They just fell temporarily into a pit and were arrested later (polar police?)
Lex Luthor should be proud that he helped Superman make General Zod, Ursa & Non lose their powers because they threatened to kill millions of Earthlings if Superman dares to continue to defy them. Luthor's girlfriend, Eve Tessmacher would've been killed and also Luthor's family.
Una tremenda joya.
I wonder what would’ve happened if lex Luthor had gone along with superman’s plan and tried to get him into the chamber
My goodness, all the actors in this movie are truly amazing from Gene Hackman, Terrance Stamp and the late Christopher Reeve.
The sweat at the arm pit is so funny
I love how Ursa even screams in a British accent.
Essa música a cena..maravilhoso ❤❤
an excellent scene
Ladies and gen z millennials? This is Iconic , stamp and reeve and Hackman !! In this movie . Really Epic❤
Best part of the scene was left out. Lex Luthor attempts and fails to convince Superman he was in on the trick and was trying to help him beat Zod all along.
I appreciate that a convicted criminal wants to rule Australia.
@@seanwebb605 In the very early shooting script, it was Cuba.
@@mainstreetsaint36 Did they release a film where he said Australia or an early script that read Cuba?
@@seanwebb605 Script only. They just kept it to Australia for the movie. To be honest, Luthor would not have been the worst thing for Cubans at that time.
@@mainstreetsaint36 So in the movie it is Australia? And the script wasn't released? I wonder then if we're commenting on a clip from the movie it is the movie that is relevant. Just thinking aloud I guess.
Once again, Superman pulls a rabbit out of the hat.
3:28 Always makes me giggle. Reeve pitting out.
I don't know why Superman didn't just throw Lex Luther down to his death too. No one would have needed to know.
C'mon Zod, you want a piece of me, I'll fight you
Been great if jorel had Appeared one final time with zod there...
when Superman was in the crystal, he's thinking I hope this works
For me, the highlight of the movie was Lois punching Ursa. Several years back, someone did it as a meme with audio.
3:54 "¿Sabes que te digo? Que eres más pesada que las moscas."
3:27 Superman is sweating a lot. That suit really seals in the flavor 😅
Old is gold
General Zod came in in like a God - went out like a punk !
Out like General Sod
Great film. But...wo...Those stunts! I You can even see Christopher Reeves smirking about the cheap high-school-theater stunts as General Zod's butt spins up into the air.
RIP Lex Luthor in the future⚰️🦸🏻♂️🇺🇸
A very classic
whisper, whisper, whisper and none of the 3 Kryptonians heard it.
Flash, whiz, bang
"hold on where has my x-ray vision gone"
Superman and Lois cheerfully killing a bunch of folks
Honestly, I've been worshiping Zod for 20 years now. There's a lot a kneeling and a lot of Polyvinyl involved. And don't even get me started on my beard trimmer accessories. But, at the end of the day, it's all worth it. I've got exactly 2 friends; hate the son of Jor-el and, bet you didn't know this about Zod... have a pretty good Karaoke voice.
I've heard there's a deleted scene that shows the three villains in prison. It was to show that Superman didn't actually kill them as it would have been out of character and there was no need to kill them as their powers had been taken away. But it was deleted for whatever reason. I guess they wanted to end the movie with the amnesia kiss and Zod being in prison didn't fit in.
Timeless scene. Reeve was Superman, both as the character of Superman and his attitude after his accident. Cavil is good and so was Tom Welling, to be sure, but they or anyone else will never be Superman like Reeve.
@@alwayspooh1588 What about George Reeves?
@@ericdunn7352 Have not seen enough of him to make a fair assessment.
I thought Superman never lies and he just did
R.I.P Christopher Reeve.
What's terrible is the "villains" are still the ones living. RIP CR and MK.
In my opinion, Christopher Reeves will always be the very best Superman. ❤
If Warner would do a new re-edited version, utilizing Both Lester and Donner's cuts. That would be the best Ultimite Version of Superman 2.
Basically, The Donner cut is...If you listen to the commentary, Donner said he had to use some of Lester's work to make the movie complete..As there was no way to go back and reshoot anything. He makes this very clear during the Battle Sequences in Metropolis And Fortress Of Solitude as Lester Directed practically all the the battle sequences
@@berniesykes5184 Basically, Donner had no choose but to use Some of Lester's footage to make his (Donner's) version make sense.
Since both Lester and Donner have passed away, WB can and should make a version Utilizing the Best of both of Lester's version and Donner's version plus extended & deleted scenes to make... the Ultimite version of Superman 2
Terence Stamp was 42 when he played Zod He is now 86 and still acting. Gene hackman is 94. Ned Betty is dead (otis), so is Reeve and Margot. Sarah Douglas is still acting as is Jack O Halloran. 4 out of the 6 in that scene are still around
Ned Betty isn't in this scene, just the movie.
Luis should have superman power now.
In the Zach Snyder Superman, Superman agonizes over killing. Here he laughs while Lois does it while making a quip. Not knocking one or the other just an difference of interpreation.
I think the original script has the Kryptonians and Luthor arrested, but the edits do imply killing. Alternatively, they might be “frozen” in the Fortress of Solitude…
3:28 Super pit stain.
Superman kneeling before zod just to troll him. Its always great when superman is petty. Not super petty, but like .01 perecent petty.
Saquen lo s comics del hombre papalote me encantó esa cerie
Zod should have heard Superman talking with his Super hearing
@@unknowncustomizer4276 I think he did. That was part of the plan. He was trying to trick them into putting him inside the chamber. It worked, with help from Lex.
"THE SON OF JOR'EL WILL BECOME OUR SLAVE...FOREVER!"
That pause really sells it…
I like the Robot Chicken version too.
