Christopher Reeves is by far, my favourite version of Clark Kent. His dorkiness and mild-mannered politeness even in face of an emergency is just awesome.
Originally, Superman 1 and 2 were supposed to be released as one movie. In the original script, the two stories were written as one cohesive narrative. That’s why the backstory of the villains from Part 2 is already introduced in Part 1. However, the producers feared the movie would be too long and flop at the box office. So, they split it into two two-hour movies instead of one long one. It’s a shame they lacked the courage. While the two films are still very good individually, told as one story, it could have been an even more spectacular movie.
Christopher Reeve was such a great actor. Anyone else would have played this so flat. He gave it so many dimensions, and a great comedic performance, that’s so hard to pull off
NO GRAPHICS, NO RUBBISH, CLASS 1 DIRECTION, CLASS 1 ACTORS, CLASS 1 STORY, CLASS 1 TALENT !!!!! BEST SUPERMAN, CHRIS REEVE, BEST SUPERMAN MOVIES, 1 AND 2, EVER MADE !!!!
I love the way he beamed the laser through his glasses without cracking them with the intense super powers, and when lois says " you were what i thought was superman, boy this is so embarrassing" Lol!!!!
We were having ice cream. Some guy walked in. He said had free tickets to the new Superman movie, if anyone was interested. My dad stood up. The guy handed them over and walked off. We went to Superman that evening. A time when movies were amazing. That was 46 years ago...
Movie mistake at 00:2:00 -- the laser eye power would've burnt through his glasses. He should've removed his glasses before he did the laser eye thing.
The Donner Version that puts this scene at the start of the film and at The Daily Planet with Lois jumping out the window with Clark saving her is the better scene and set-up to what happens when Clark is revealed as Superman (the gun scene in Lois' Hotel Suite) as it ties into the first movie much more seamlessly and it plays better.
Remember how people complained about MAWS Lois Lane for risking her own life to expose Clark’s secret identity? Well, how come this Lois Lane did not get any flack for that?
@@comixproviderftw_02 Hey, at least Lois isn’t as toxic as Amber and can own up to her mistakes I mean, Lois literally stole a spaceship, entered Clark’s mind to save him and fix things with him after she sort of accidentally broke up with him Amber would not do that
@@spystar18 this is just how Lois Lane is. This is how she was characterized by her creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. If you don’t like this then you basically don’t like Lois Lane. Which is fine but criticizing a character for acting how they're supposed to act in a story and comparing them to even worse characters is stupid af, like people who did it during the time it was done in MAWS.
I don’t know why it is, but I prefer the way that Richard Donner shot Lois betting her life that Clark is Superman. The way he filmed it was at the Daily Planet and she jumped out the window.
I still have no idea why MAX doesn’t have the Donner Cut of “Superman II” on their streaming service. They have both versions of “Justice League.” Why not do the same thing with “Superman I & II?”
Rewatching this post-Watchmen show, Clark complimenting Lois' imagination calls to mind the scene in the penultimate episode of Watchmen in which Angela compliments Doctor Manhattan's imagination and Adrian accuses Doctor Manhattan of lacking imagination. #Superman
Superman puts her at a real risk of dying to protect h9is identity, just to give it away in the VERY NEXT SCENE by blatantly reaching into the fire to retrieve his glasses. If I was Lois, I would be PISSED.
@juliapigworthy Unlikely. His ruse clearly fooled Lois. She said "YOU'RE the man I thought was Superman?" So he surely didn't need to give it away at that point.
What great disguise though? A pair of glass? 😅😅 I love the animated movie with scooby doo and superman where they are the only ones who can see its the same guy but the rest still can't tell.
Lois was an idiot. If Clark wasn’t Superman, then by jumping into the water, Lois was screwed. Remember she was the genius who couldn’t see the Clark/Superman connection all because of a pair of glasses.
@dccomics were you aware, wozard means smart in indian english .... also in case superman's weakness was magic, why did amanda waller threaten black adam the king (africa was opposite) with sending superman who wasnt from earth ?
@dccomics yall shouldve put an actor with a slim middle eastern nose to play black adam ... like that actor that was in homeland and legion ; do they have mediterranean looking actors at juliard
Superman up here acting like a fool. I understand how they don't know the Man of a steel is there. This man that can fly is playing human? Doing what humans despise.... work?
this is the only stupid part of this story he CHOSE to risk her life TO KEEP HIS SECRET by NOT coming to her aid as superman and let her feel like an idiot.....
If he's not careful yes, but I suspect that he's doing it in short bursts to keep his glasses from melting. Another possibility is that superman's protective field ability is being applied to his glasses, much like how he uses his heat vision and a mirror to shave.
He’s glasses also made of super strength which no knows about. Think about it, if his glasses Weren’t super strength, should anything happen to his glasses, break, shatter, etc, how’s he going to get his replacement glasses without anyone knowing he’s superman in an instant. And surly to get your replacement glasses, you need to go to the opticians, until they have done all your eye tests, subscriptions to order you a new pair. Lol.

Reeve. And he based it on Cary Grant’s performances in screwball comedies like Bring up Baby.
This version of Clark is such a dork, and I love it! 🤣🤣🤣
Facts 💯 R.I.P. Christopher Reeves
He is the only Superman
Won’t disagree, but I also think Brandon Routh did a good job. Definitely second to Christopher Reeve though.
In my opinion, Superman and Superman 2 are the Godfather 1 and 2 of Superhero movies.
totally agree
The story of Superman and Superman II were written by Mario Puzo, the same author of The Godfather novel.
Originally, Superman 1 and 2 were supposed to be released as one movie. In the original script, the two stories were written as one cohesive narrative. That’s why the backstory of the villains from Part 2 is already introduced in Part 1. However, the producers feared the movie would be too long and flop at the box office. Marlon Brando was Supe's father...
The way he plopped into the water at the end, though!!! You can't mask that type of clumsiness, he was great!!! 😂😂😂
Christopher Reeve was such a great actor. Anyone else would have played this so flat. He gave it so many dimensions, and a great comedic performance, that’s so hard to pull off
Having Robin Williams as a college roommate when he attended Julliard helped a lot.
Not only he refused to drop his Clark Kent mask, but he put Lois in the position to rescue _him._
a true hero
Lois Lane, she’ll do anything for the truth. Even if costs her own life. That’s the true work of a reporter.
Or someone who needs to see a therapist
Hey she was always fearless😏😂
That's a true idiot lol
Its the mindset of a nutcase.shed be dead,& wouldnt live to see the truth.not me.
she did not do it to report something
I loved how the other people in the background were just walking along not paying any attention to the screaming lady in the river😂
Probably because they think that Superman will just come and rescue her.
His bumbling at the end was so comic book good!
Hard to believe they are both gone RIP Margot and Christopher
This was the best Superman film ever!
he was such a good clark kent.
No, a great Clark Kent. Henry Cavill and the other dude from Superman Return got nothing on the great Christopher Reeve.
Superman 1 and Superman 2 were the best movies from DC!
Nope, dark knight trilogy still the best so far.
Best Superman ever can’t be topped. I’m good off these new ones
One of my favorite scenes and favorite film of the whole franchise ... as well as the following scene in their hotel room.

@RangerZero47 nope, they softened everything up still 👎
Sadly
The best Superman movie
The chemistry between those two!! She didn't play when it came to Clark or Superman!!

Best Super-Man movie ever.
I can't believe she thought that Clark was Superman. 😊
Movie mistake at 00:2:00 -- the laser eye power would've burnt through his glasses. He should've removed his glasses before he did the laser eye thing.
Since when do lasers burn optical lenses?
It's not laser vision. It's heat vision. Heat would definitely melt his glasses.
@ I stand corrected -
Now Lois was just being crazy in this
Women 🤷♂🤷♂
I prefer when she jumps out the Daily Planet window. Its played a little more straight.
Me too, the Richard Donner cut is a better film and screenplay.
Just imagine if he didn't save her to hide his identity
Yeah, but Superman can never do that.
No I won't imagine

Amazing Movie
Those people just walk by like the lady in the water needs no help at all. Quite a lovely group of people
That would have been awesome if michael Keaton 's batman came in saved Lois and split
RIP Christopher Reeve❤😂
Remember how people complained about MAWS Lois Lane for risking her own life to expose Clark’s secret identity? Well, how come this Lois Lane did not get any flack for that?
80's, just 80's
People even went far to say that she was just as bad as Amber from Invincible.

The best Lois. The best Superman.
Lois: *Is clearly in need of serious medical attention.*
Clark: lol Imma throw myself in the water so she has to carry me out.
Superman falling to be saved is gold!
I never thought Margot Kidder was the right actress to be Lois Lane.
I agree. It doesn’t help that Superman is prettier than Lois Lane.

Should have called aquamen...
Oh emmgee.. i love them!!!

She literally could have just asked him to take off his glasses 🤣🤣🤣
Superman 😂 really told her grab that branch🎉😂

Great scene but why the wrong aspect ratio?
@@charlesloftin8768aspect ratio = width / height.
Which correct aspect ratio should have they used?
70mm = 2.20:1
35mm = 2.39:1
Donner Cut = 2.39:1
I guess he was willing to risk her drowning or shattering her skull on rocks because he knew he could fly fast enough to go back in time and redo it.
Reeves was so good at acting
Those must be super glasses to withstand those lazer beams...
Superman's greatest ability is his character acting. Didn't know they had drama classes on Krypton.
That's how Clark Kent supposed to be.
taking gas-lighting to a whole new level :)

The OG Lois Lane and the best.

What kind of glasses did he get that can handle those laser beams????
It would have been much easier if he had just turned into Superman lol 😂
Typical Lois Lane😒
