Jon Stewart is too smart for these GOP Hillbillies.
As is most of America.
Exactly what my comment was going to be.
I’m shocked RUclips let’s us say hillbillies
Not doggin Jon but a rock could outsmart most of these "hillbillies".
That's insulting to hillbillies.
Wish all journalists were like this.

Spitting the truth!
Sadly, none will bc their careers depend on what congressperson will accept their interview, and in this joke of a congress, not a single person in congress will take an interview if its not main stream...which is sad, all main strain media in the US is a joke...the US is doomed
Jon is the best journalist out there. Period.
I wish al members of Congress were like John Stewart.
It was genuinely hilarious when Jon Stewart caught the guy saying "the government has a responsibility to protect children"
"The government has a responsibil--"
"What??"
Iconic.
I noticed that too and thought it was funny as heck😂
ROFLMAO when Jon did that, and this guy didn't even realized he had contradicted himself in his own argument.
"It's infringing on freedom of speech and the second amendment to have gun regulations and deaths of children/danger isn't worth infringing on it"
"Oh we want to ban people reading books to kids to make them feel safe in our republican death cult world because the danger we made up in our heads is worth infringing on freedom of speech. Protect the kids from feeling safe they should only feel on edge all the time in case one of us mentally snaps on school children because we thought the kids were satanic evil socialist groomers"

YUP!
John is a good man.❤️
🗣Facts!
He's a real patriot, a hero in my book
@notfiveo The 2nd Amendment CREATED A NATIONAL POLICE FORCE. IT WAS TERMED A WELL REGULATED MILITIA THEN. Now, in it's current form, it is the National Guard, who Trump refused to call out because he was too busy enjoying the insurrection on several television sets.
Jon was prepared for every argument. He didn't even flinch for a second
It isn't hard because they keep saying the same false things and someone capable of rational thought just has to sit and think about it for a few seconds. Jon is well informed about the issue and articulate so this was super easy for it.
He was also wrong. The leading cause of death isn't gun violence, it's abortions. People need to do their own research. Gun control isn't about guns, it's about control. Fuck the government 🖕
@@cloudstone123 🎯
@@cloudstone123oh, i think it's hard. most of us couldn't do it. you're right that he's articulate and comes prepared; but he also doesn't get flustered, and he's able to respond in realtime. maybe you're a good debater like he is; but i think most people do need a few seconds to formulate a response, and being able to make that response a cogent argument is a skill most people don't have.
i watched a debate he had with bill o'reilly back in bush era, and while he was more lighthearted then, he was just as quick on his feet. he was also willing to concede where he's been out-argued on a point, which, frankly, i believe is a sign of maturity lol.
Gun control is the easiest argument to destroy conservatives in because all they have backing them are a couple of sentences in the Constitution, depending on a purist interpretation of the second amendment, which many academics would argue is an inappropriate reading. They have no facts. No science. Only culture wars and “you can’t take my guns 😡” nonsense.
I have more guns than I know, but Jon Stewart here wins this debate hands down. I am a "gun-nut" who believes not everyone should own a gun.
Yeah, same here. We have plenty of shutguns and huntung rifles. And all of those are for hunting purposes. There are strict laws that those have to be kept in locked safe to prevent stealing. And it gives plenty of extra time for spouses and kids to run away from house when somebody gets drunk mad. And it is a bit harder to hide a gun under your jacket 😅
i agree with you. i assume you hang out with other gun owners - based on your personal experience, do they feel that way too? would you keep hanging out with them if they disagreed?
I wish I could like this more than once, I applaud you sir.
I want to reiterate a point. I'm not a gun owner. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that I'll pick up a firearm when the zombie apocalypse breaks out. But I will not infringe on a persons right to responsibly own firearms, emphasis on RESPONSIBLY! Guns should not be readily available to everyone because the ownership should be treated as more a privilege than a right. if you're driving down the street and you look over and see see a driver steering with his feet, you might want to get off that road and wonder who let that nutcase get behind a wheel, right? Same principle. So I commend you sir for, I assume, being a responsible and legal gun owner and recognizing the fact that not every should own a gun, legally or otherwise.
Exactly right my friend. & as he says, he's not against the right for people to have personal firearms but there are checks that need to be in place. History bears that out & its not going to stop every criminal shooting but there needs to be protections in place as well as maintaining freedom for responsible gun owners. Its almost the impossible balance but because something is difficult doesnt mean you give up trying to get that balance as right as society can. We'll never please everybody but the questions should always be asked about what suits society best. If everybody was responsible we wouldnt need any rules but this isnt make believe & some people dont give a damn about others so some rules are not only a neccessity but essential.
I've never seen someone try so hard not to say the word "REGISTER"

@@evertvdb000 It's what they do.
No one got destroyed. That's why they're still in office, sabotaging our government and trying to ruin the world.
If "shall not be infringed" meant what republicans claim it means, then you could not legally take guns away from prisoners. Nor could you stop plane passengers from carrying guns.
Yep. We already have rules and regulations around rights (voting only being for people of x age, and felons not being able to vote). They pretend like the second amendment is somehow holier.
to them it literally means "shall no be infringed" for white straight people but as we have seen with civil rights movement when the black panthers flexed their gun rights all of a sudden they started adding restrictions.
Regardless of what the constitution says, the courts and the police and the government take away guns from American people 7 days per week.
If "shall not be infringed" meant what republicans claim it means, then there would be no need for ANY firearms regulations and all guns would be free.
@@seanscanlon9067 Well we know republicans don't actually care about the constitution. If guns make us safer why are guns banned from every political rally for republicans?
John Stewart was *shaking* .. I come here to rewatch this every once in awhile just to get a taste of genuine righteous rage that seems absent in our government bodies.
his series is all like this. he tells some jokes, and there are some lighthearted moments; but the majority of the time he's very serious, quite a lot like this.
Damn Jon got him! with the drag queen free speech, getting him to say the government needs protect children, but before he even finishes saying it he realizes his contradiction. Pure genius.
He got him so many times! My favorite was the voters registration because the GQP always talks about registration and voter "integrity" 🙄

Sure, don't.
And he does it so calm and reasonably 😎
Red, it’s “JON,” but I agree 100%
Interesting that "Common Sense" was the title of the pamphlet that helped launch the colonies' move toward independence. Thomas Paine wouldn't have any idea what a 30-shot semi-automatic rifle was, nor would any of the framers. What they did know is that, even after the British surrender, England as well as other European powers were still trying to gain control over the new nation and that a well regulated militia (such as those in South Carolina that helped force the British into an indefensible position at Yorktown) would be necessary to backstop a federal military force that was left threadbare by the revolution.
They mostly rely on fear, brainwashing and ignorance.
Can we get Jon Stewart to interview Donald Trump 🙏🏼

I'd love to see what that guy was saying the day BEFORE the interview! Bet he thought he was gonna 'own' Jon Stewart. 😅😅
They aren’t even close
Stewart is one of the most effective debaters against the conservative side of these issues, because he so effectively breaks things down to their simplest components and shows how they will hold a double standard of “this should be a universal rule” and “I don’t want anything to be a universal rule that affects this because I like it” at the same time. Perfect dissections of weak arguments through and through.
I feel like republicans should know by now that going into an interview with Jon Stewart is going to go badly for them.
Wouldn't it be fun to watch him debate trump ? The RUMP wouldn't last 5 minutes and that's a FACT.

They cannot be held accountable because they all lie and there would be no one left to govern the country. The most infamous lying is probably Colin Powell's 'every claim a lie' speech at the UN about the non-existent Iraqi WMDs. That progressed to an illegal attack which led to a million deaths. Nobody even suggested that Powell should be held accountable for his litany of lies and it is never going to happen.

@@zengergazette9738 and to vote, which is a right!
Same here.✌️
Many of the alt. right would fail a background check, especially if it included a psychological assessment, because they are violent people, and should not be allowed to own guns because they have difficulty controlling themselves. Who carries out these mass shootings--it's almost exclusively Trump supporters and adherents to the alt. right. The only reason they may have no criminal record is the fact that white people often get off with a warning or a lesser charge in cases that would result in prison for a black person. They threaten to kill people if they say something they don't like, and they always have underlying violence in the way they act. The whole reason they vote and call themselves "political" although with no principles and no political platform or knowledge of politics or issues at all, is the opportunity to crush their enemies using the power of gov't, which they see as the entire reason to seek power. A simple questionnaire would reveal their violent tendencies instantly. If they failed they would deny they were violent, then threaten to kill the person doing the background check and the owner of the sporting goods store.
Jon's probably the exact person we need in the White House. He's also a person I wouldn't want to see in the WH because he's such a national treasure.

Freedom and liberty has responsibilities which violent criminals ignore.
Shall not be infringed
@@Kjfsparky well-regulated militia, which means that even when all they had was muskets they wanted them regulated. Militia means military or law enforcement, NOT an individual right.
It's strange giving a "thumbs-up" to a video that makes you sick to your stomach it's so sad. Keep it coming Jon. You da man.
I remember a line from from a Michael Moore documentary (paraphrasing) "If more guns make us safer, then America would be the safest place on earth".
Oh my Lord! I can't believe what I'm hearing. There is no logic to this politician. How do people even vote for these idiots.
They reflect their values.
Because they're also idiots
Because it has nothing at all to do with logic. All that matters is what the gun lobby puts in their pockets.
@JJS38 Yes. In essence Black's are not allowed the same rights.
Idiotic is their smart.
Love how Jon kept bringing focus back to the question. This is what our government fails at. Stop letting people get away with dodging questions and talking in circles.
That's the role of media. And they are failing us on tha6

This is what JOURNALISTS should be doing!!!
Don't blame journalists.
Take responsibility of yourself. This is not 1960 anymore.
I almost feel bad for this guy. This is a complete and total tear down - incredible.
Love the summary - succinct and definitive. Nice (and desperately needed).
I miss regular doses of Jon Stewart. He’s so damn smart.
OMG I have missed the plain and open and articulate common sense of JON . So so happy to have him back !
if only all people could be as articulate as stewart is against these hypocrites myself included
I love the idea that the government is allowed to infringe upon a right, because the right doesn't come with the language "shall not be infringed". Know when to fold, man.
Jon is shaking in anger but he still maintains his composure. That's a great debater right there.
It would be sooooo satisfying to reach out and strangle that smirk right off that guy's face. But that is stooping to their level. Better to shread him with logic.
Age has tempered Stewart for the better for this type of confrontational interview.
He had some low hanging fruit this time around. Stewart is an intellectual lightweight with a long history of being a corporate-loving status quo piece of shit.
He wasn't shaking in anger, In fact, he never raised his voice. He did use strong language to close his argument. But yes, Stewart is a very good debater. And he spanked this yahoo good.
@@seanpatrick1243 He was far less of a comedian here than he was on Comedy Central.
Holy shit I almost felt bad for the senator. He got taken to school so bad and so so easy by Jon Stewart. He’s probably still recovering.
Don't feel bad for him. He doesn't feel bad and I'm sure this same video viewed by his rabid gun nut constituents will say he somehow won the debate and he's a hero.
Any Republicans that watch this will just focus in on Jon's cursing and say that's the real problem with Jon. And they will be comforted by their own ignorance.
he's going to need a senzu bean for that one" - master roshi TFS
He looked like he was about to cry.
That was a senator?
It was a different world when the Constitution was written. When is anyone ever going to mention that
From promoting watching the stars "on WEED" to discussing the gnarly matters of life and death, Jon runs the gamut like a world-class patriot. 👍
BRUTAL! This should be required viewing for all office holders from the city council to the supreme court.
Louder!!!
It also should be required viewing for journalists and any who aspire to be journalists. This, boys and girls, is how it's done! (Mic drop)
Jon Stewart is in a league of his own.... just on another level... He just neatly walks the Rep right into it... and the Rep doesn't realize it until he actually got there.. F-in brilliant..
He said he thinks that it’s the individual who is the problem and doesn’t realize that he just made an excellent case for requiring background checks.
My God, this is brutal.

Yeah, guns don't kill ppl... Its ppl with gun killing ppl.
Which is why we need red flag laws!
Bang BANG rattat tat Boom! 💥 😅😅😅
He did his best not to say register 😂 John made him think about his stupidity, hypocrisy and his own morality. Well done Sir!
Isn’t it disgusting how he danced around saying it despite that “register” was the only answer?
I know I was like come-on...spit it out! Re-....register!
Ikr!? I was laughing my ass off watching the senator's brain short circuit in an attempt to think of a DIFFERENT word other than register! 😂🤣
@@rachf9695 - Right!? Even John Stewart was like re, reg, regi, register 😂🤣
Plus, his only retort was "Shall not be infringed!" Sure, pay attention to that and not the "well regulated" part, let alone the militia part.
This is beautiful.
I love how Jon shows us the hypocrisy of the Republican Party through common sense questions.
I learned a thing or three from watching the MASTER.
The depressing thing about this interview is how a COMEDIAN does a heck of a better job at journalism than journalists have done in the last 30 years.
We learned years ago that the comedians are far better journalists than the regular media.
Jon is both a comedian and a journalist
He's both.
See also: John Oliver.
Good comedians just understand people better
Watching this was a master class in basic commonsense. Well done, Jon .
To be fair - Dahm is a badly educated (homeschooled by those who did not trust the school system) and he is coming to a battle of ideas without a full understanding of what his own ideas mean. (I'm his constituent whom he won't recognize my rights as a human being because I did not vote for him).
