    i started watching this but i fell asleep and I KNOW it sounds like an insult but i have anxiety, and falling asleep is so freaking difficult at night, imagine how difficult it is for me to actually take a nap. this helped me with 1) install text blocks and 2) take a well deserved nap. thank you so much

    Actually, to be a coroner you need to have the same training as an “undertaker” and that takes at a minimum of a year. You work closely with cadavers during that time. It doesn’t take medical knowledge, but disposition of corpses is different from being a medical examiner, which does take medical training.

    • @constancepentzer3017
      @constancepentzer3017 2 года назад +23

      It depends on where you are. Here, the coroner is an elected position. You must get training on death and causes thereof. The coroner does not know anything about embalming, etc. that an undertaker would, other than what he may have random knowledge of. In larger counties, the coroner may appoint assistants, whose decisions are also recognized by the state.

    • @bigsh00g17
      @bigsh00g17 Год назад +19

      @@constancepentzer3017Another fun fact! In many places (like my hometown) the coroner also has the authority to arrest the county sheriff!

    I don't know why your videos came up in my feed, but I'm glad they did. I can see how bookmaking could become addictive. Just an FYI. The coroner doesn't actually do any medically stuff. They are more of an investigator. In a coroner's office, a pathologist (who does have medical training) actually handles the medical side. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It's never easy to lose someone we care about, but it's even harder when they go suddenly.

    Very nice tutorial Nik and a very good explanation of an Oxford Hollow. Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and hopefully you have loads of really good memories shared with them.
    In the UK a coroner is also appointed by the local authority and is usually a lawyer but they may also have medical qualifications. The UK Gov website defines it as: "A coroner is a special judge who investigates unnatural or violent deaths, where the cause of death is unknown, or because the death took place in prison, police custody or another type of state detention, such as a mental health hospital." They do this by listening to testimony from all the relevant experts and also to any witnesses etc.

    As for this video, omg 😱 what a awesome job. I truly enjoyed learning how to do this. Also I always thought a Coroner had to have a Doctorate Degree, or something to that effect as well. That's an interesting tidbit, to know. I remember my Mom, also said she wanted to become a Coroner. She was a Nurse over 35yrs. I asked her why would you want to change your career after all these years? She said, well at least they won't be able to talk back to you, like some onory patients do.... I thought about it, it made sense, I suppose lol. Thanks for another amazing video. Have a great day🤗

    Fabulous, Nik! Just perfect! I still use my handy-dandy paperback language dictionaries on a regular basis and, boy, they could sure use a hardcover makeover. You've inspired me! You are an excellent tutor! Thank you! From Cheryl in AZ
