That box is the acclerometer for the 4c system. Most people just mount it up on the body of the car and wont give you any issues. Just have to make sure its level like it is on the shock or it might throw a code. Loving the videos by the way, most detailed videos I have seen on these vehicles yet, lots of great information
I too was working on my Volvo today! I did a transmission fluid flush on my 2008 XC90 V8 AWD w/69k miles, and now it shifts so much better! Saturday’s are for working on your Volvo! 😀
Thank you for posting, this video is very helpful. Did you end up making a video for replacing the rear shocks and did you use the existing springs or new ones?
It looks like you have a '04. If that's the case, you don't need to dig the actuators out of the struts. You can use resistors and splice then to your existing connectors. 8 ohm 20 watt ceramic resistors is what you want. '05 and up the resistor trick doesn't work. You'll have to dig those things out. Also, even though the accelerometers won't do anything anymore, you still need those mounted to the struts or you will get the chassis error. Or just mount them to the same bolt as the ABS sensor.
Dont blame you for doing this - I did the same and used a different set of front springs. I think Sachs. My fronts are non 4c and the wires are gone. Oh well... I like the ride and dont want to have to ride on coilovers. Wanted to retain as much ride quality as possible - the suspension from factory isnt the best design to begin with Also - your front tires will spin either way - it transfers from the front wheels
I did. It's in the video. It works for all models. For 2004 model you can use aftermarket resistors. For 2005 or newer you have to do what i did in this video
4c shocks and struts on my 2007 Volvo xc70 is pretty much done and expensive to replace them. I'm trying switching to regular is the parts same with regular volvo with out 4c ? or i need measurement adjustment . can you please help.
Why go thru all of this to disable the system? The 4C system is pretty robust and it's what makes an R an R. This is pointless, why own an R if its not gonna do R things?
Strong disagree. The monroe struts aren't great. The only cool thing is that they go from Comfort, Sport, Advanced. Advanced mode can't compete with Bilstens
Because why dump money into an old car that’s not worth much. I didn’t buy my r model because it was an r model I bought it because It was cheap and reliable

Exactly lol
My dad bought my mom a 2006 volvo XC90 V8 in december
Fingers crossed, my 4C system is still working well. I have an 05 S60r with 250000 miles. 🤞
That's epic my 06 T5 has 4c suspension. All good at 180000
I just looked at a 06bwoth 120k on it trying to get it for 8k hopefully he sells it to me
Nice diy video saves me money
Going to have to do this my struts are shot and don't have 2000 for new ones

We put eibach springs on it for handling.

Yea i wanted to try to do it without buying extra mods but resistors would be much easier.

great video man!!
i am having a hard time finding some replacements for my rear on a 07 s60r you have any suggestions ? I do not want 4c
Great video, what rear shocks did you choose? Just the standard AWD shocks for the non R models?
Yes standard s60 awd shocks they are the same front and back.
Do you think s60r lowering springs will fit on an s60 2.5t awd? I cannot find lowering springs that aren't for the fwd or the R models
what was the part. no for those shocks? Volvo 8667253 ?
Great video.
What type of struts and shocks is good for the 2007 Volvo Xc70? I'm trying to do the same switch to regular shocks and struts.
Tnx.
Any Bilstein shocks i would highly recommend.
@@BuiltForSpeed I’m a new To this. if you can help with some links where I can buy would be a big help. Tnx
@@endertawy is yours awd or 2wd?
@@BuiltForSpeed AWD
@@endertawy do you have the 4c suspension with the 3 drivemodes?
Was you able to trick the system on the 06 or 07. S60r.

Just get regular shocks for 2007 xc70 if you have awd get regular shocks for awd they will fit.
@@BuiltForSpeed thank you
Need a 0-60 on the red s60😋
Yea I'll be doing those videos on that when the weather gets better

The 4c shocks to swop them cost over $2000 this cost me about 400 i believe. Why would i spend over 2k for just shocks on car that cost 5k? If that.
