For people wondering why their team didn't have a pick, these are the trades in the first round for 2019 (info from wikipedia): The Ottawa Senators' first-round pick (4th) went to the Colorado Avalanche as the result of the Matt Duchene for Kyle Turris, Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond, a third-round pick in 2019 and this pick or the 2018 top 10 protected first. The Philadelphia Flyers traded back from 11th to 14th and 45th with the Arizona Coyotes. The Columbus Blue Jackets' first-round pick (19th) went to the Ottawa Senators as the result of the other Matt Duchene trade where him and Julius Bergman were sent to Columbus in exchange for Vitalii Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, and this pick (top 3 protected) The Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick (20th) was re-acquired in the Jacob Trouba trade for Neal Pionk and this pick. It had previously been sent to the Rangers in the Kevin Hayes trade for Brendan Lemieux, a conditional 2022 4th, and this top 3 protected 2019 first. The Toronto Maple Leafs' first-round pick (22nd) went to the Los Angeles Kings as the result of a trade on January 28, 2019 that sent Jake Muzzin to Toronto in exchange for Carl Grundstrom, Sean Durzi and this pick. The San Jose Sharks' first-round pick (29th) went to the Anaheim Ducks as the result of a trade on February 24, 2019 that sent Brandon Montour to Buffalo in exchange for Brendan Guhle and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Anaheim will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if the Blues' first-round pick is between picks 20-31 then Anaheim will have the option to take either St. Louis or San Jose's first-round pick in 2019. Buffalo previously acquired the 29th pick as the result of a trade on February 26, 2018 that sent Evander Kane to San Jose in exchange for Danny O'Regan, a conditional fourth-round pick in 2019 and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Buffalo will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if Kane re-signs with the Sharks for the 2018-19 NHL season and if the Sharks qualify for the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs. The St. Louis Blues' first-round pick (31st) went to the Buffalo Sabres as the result of a trade on July 1, 2018 that sent Ryan O'Reilly to St. Louis in exchange for Vladimir Sobotka, Patrik Berglund, Tage Thompson, a second-round pick in 2021 and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Buffalo will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if the Blues first-round pick is outside of the top ten selections in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft - was converted when the Blues qualified for the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs on March 29, 2019.

The Rangers absolutely have a development issue, especially when it comes to their forwards. We are talking about a team that has drafted just ONE forward in the last 30 years who has gone on to score 70 points for them in a single season. Embarrassing to say the least. This team has been bad at developing forwards for nearly 30 years now. Here’s an idea, how about letting Kakko and Lafreniere have some significant power play time for once and see what they can do, instead of putting them out there with under 30 seconds left on the PP as the puck is being dumped into your zone.
so if a player is a goalie, defenseman, or a big forward, they may take longer to develop. so its only the Marners of the world who come in ready to rock??
Some would say that Jack Hughes was put in the NHL to early, but with his 2 first seasons pro being relativly bad, I'd say that Seider goes first in my redraft. Swedish defensemen of the year draft +2 and NHL rookie of the year draft +3 and top-2 defensemen in the NHL from the start is what you want on every NHL-team. A skillful lightweight 1C is nice, and Hughes is really good, but for Stanley Cup runs I'd think teams rather have Victor Hedman over Elias Pettersson.
So, you're taking a guy who didn't play at all the first two years and penalizing the guy that did? Hughes is scoring at a 1.22 PPG clip the past two seasons...and like Seider, he's only 22.
@@jefflarson1652 EP40 had 1,35 PPG last season. Would you still have that over Hedman in a playoff race? I'd not to be honest, but then again I experienced the importance of a great D-man in Detorit before, so that may explain my pov. Let's agree to disagree then I guess?

But perhaps Montreal will be a better place for him. Kakko at 15 is worth having a conversation about. It always makes you scratch your head when a can't miss player turns out to struggle as much as he has. I think a fair amount of it comes down to how the Rangers mishandling their draft talent IMO.

@@fczip5493 Yeah, it took hours to find those exact words so I could copy and paste them here. You're a genius.
This is a crazy take
I’m genuinely surprised Seider only moved up one spot.
Turned out to be a very deep draft especially in the first round.
@@AnaheimRob that’s fair point!
The next 2019 draft player to join the Canadiens is Kaapo Kakko, THG decided !
Funny how half our two top lines are here, Dach, RHP, Caufield and Newhook.
It's December and Zegras has 2 points. Great call.
Zegras over seider and cozens is interesting but hey it's part of the fun
Love the redrafts!
RHP going from a 7th round 15th pick, to a 1st round 17th pick is insane !! I do think MTL has a bright future.
Was rooting for the Canucks to take zegras at 10. Then the ducks took him.
It was between Podkolzin, boldy and caufield for me.
Was rooting for boldy but understood us taking podkolzin as he was rated top 3 at points and he fell
he manifested Bowen Byram to the Sabres!
Seider isn’t #2?
45ish people in the comments think Seider should be #2. Me too.
For people wondering why their team didn't have a pick, these are the trades in the first round for 2019 (info from wikipedia):
The Ottawa Senators' first-round pick (4th) went to the Colorado Avalanche as the result of the Matt Duchene for Kyle Turris, Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond, a third-round pick in 2019 and this pick or the 2018 top 10 protected first.
The Philadelphia Flyers traded back from 11th to 14th and 45th with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Columbus Blue Jackets' first-round pick (19th) went to the Ottawa Senators as the result of the other Matt Duchene trade where him and Julius Bergman were sent to Columbus in exchange for Vitalii Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, and this pick (top 3 protected)
The Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick (20th) was re-acquired in the Jacob Trouba trade for Neal Pionk and this pick.
Sabres die hard here. Was at millsies jersey retirement ceremony last season. I vividly recall seeing Cozens fork his game used hockey stick to Miller's son. Miller was interviewed about that gesture and added with conviction Cozens' is his new favorite Sabre haha. Useless fun fact! ⚔️
There are no useless Sabres facts... French Connection Forever...
Makes sense seeing Hughes as #1 but seeing Seider and Caufield at #5/#6 feels wrong.
Sneaking caufield in there, I see you but caufield like he said has on pace numbers that would put him higher but hasn't played the games yet boldy cozens and Zegras have all put up good numbers over full seasons, it could change as quickly as next year but its about proven production
@@Toxic_Alchemist you’re right. Thanks for clarifying!!
Been waiting for this ❤ love ur re drafts
A bit too soon in 3 years this could be interesting but still going to watch the video
What a redraft to see Hockey Guy eh. Good redraft
My top 10
Hughes
Seider
Cozens
Zegras
Boldy
Caufield
Byram
Macelli
Dach
Kakko
Why are you putting the AHL goalie of the year (the guy you said is comparable to Juuse Saros) at 30th with zero reasoning lol
Trevor Zegras is overrated. Seider should be 2.
Arseni Gritsyuk when he comes over with his speed in that lineup could make it in too 32 if not 32 at least top 50..if he can handle the transition
Jack Hughes: Still #1. There actually was debate about whether he'd go before Kaapo Kakko but Hughes has left him in the dust.
so if a player is a goalie, defenseman, or a big forward, they may take longer to develop.
so its only the Marners of the world who come in ready to rock??
would've loved to see Spence on this board, I think he has a ton of potential and can be a future top 4 D
There are hardly any sites with such a thoughtful host. It's relaxing.
@@MarcusThomasson Hughes has played 244 games in the NHL to Seider's 164. Hughes has led his team to the playoffs. Seider hasn't and Detroit was better than NJ for the two years prior to this past season. 15 years from now, it may look different between the two, but at this point Hughes is so far ahead of Seider that it isn't funny. Only delusional Red Wing fans think it's close.
Remember when people (including me) were calling Jughes a bust? Dude will be a consistent 90-110 point scorer
People overreact to everything these days. Tage Thompson didn't hit double digit goals in a season until he turned 24. Who was his biggest doubter? Me. I kept wanting to give Alex Nylander more time. Well... he's 24 this year!
Clocked out at Jack. All i needed here 😂😂😂 Just kidding i watched the whole thing, but didnt need to lol
Jack Hughes, Seider, Cozens, Caufield. If Conroy trades Dustin Wolf straight up for anyone else on that board he will get roasted. Not the best redraft we've seen on THG.
Hughes, Seider, Cozens, Boldy, Caufield, Zegras
I was super impressed with pinto whenever I saw him. (mostly against the devils and a few other games on MSG)
WTF? Seider's at least #2, pushing for #1.
Hughes is the only player I would prefer over Seider.
NJD vs Everybody
Arturs Silovs has a real good chance of making this list in a few years. It's a good draft year for Vancouver.
Seider goes 2nd overall... it's not even close.
Sorry, but Seider should be number 2. Otherwise good draft selections.
Poor Alex Turcotte at #5. Guy has had 3 concussions since being drafted.
@thg I really like how you say "Björn" because it sounds like you are a native swede saying bear.
Boldy and Cousins ahead of Seider ? I can see an argument for Zegras but Boldy or Cousins. Wow
Image Zegras, Hughes best friend on his rivalry like that lol
Montreal loving the 2019 draft
Im surprised Kochetkov was so low. He won the Calder Cup with the Chicago Wolves and played well for Carolina. I would’ve had him slightly higher, maybe going to the Penguins or Kings. Maybe 5 years down the road things will be different. Like you said, things with goalies can change quickly.
I'm surprised Carolina re-signed both Andersen and Raanta. When you have Kochetkov ready too go. I get you need tender depth but yeah, he's ready for a back up role/regular starter.
Avs fan here. I am still pretty content with Byram at 4th. I think Shannon is right in saying that assuming he stays healthy, he has all the goods to grow into a bona fide superstar in this league. Newhook at 13 is interesting because it implies the Avs perhaps gave up to early on him. In Colorado, opinion seems divided. To many he looks like Jost 2.0, to others the potential is still there. But perhaps Montreal will be a better place for him.
Kakko at 15 is worth having a conversation about. It always makes you scratch your head when a can't miss player turns out to struggle as much as he has. I think a fair amount of it comes down to how the Rangers mishandling their draft talent IMO.
Its hilarious Byram is on the Sabers now, way to pick em Shannon
Time for a new vid Shannon;) I don't get your take on Seider and so do many others.
The only place Seider should be picked is 2nd or 1st.
Even Seider himself was surprised to go 6th lol.
Seider was who I really wanted us to draft...and you had Krebs one spot too low... Those were my 1&2 for the Kings list???
I love how montreal got 4 players in the top 17, i think they love the 2019 players
Wow Hoglander with the big jump to 18, proud of him
Hughes will be a bust, they said. Kakko played against men, they said. 🙃
Seider easy #2. Then drop Zegras down below Caufield or Byram and you've got yourself a list.
The disrespect towards Mo.
LOVE that devs third jersey!
Kakko played against men
As a coyotes fan, can’t wait to see how far Söderström falls! 😅
hopefully this year he can become a full time nhler
@@ragingMISQUITOGAMINGGANGSTERunfortunately that won’t happen, with the additions of Durzi and Dumba
He’s still young, defensemen notoriously take longer to develop.
And Byram ended up in Buffalo for real.
I think shannon is liking the future of the montreal canadiens , i couldn't agree more on RHP , hes going to force his way onto the top 6 and score 25-30 goals this season if hrs healthy
On Ville Heinola, It's already been reported that he's asked for a trade
I definitely want to see a redo of this already lol.
