New rules states that only moving to library or hand is a replacement effect. Couldshift is not a delayed trigger, so no statebased effects after exiling the slicer. So you cant put Slicer in the command zone before hes returned to the battlefield.
Something to keep note of, Commanders cannot be put into the command zone via state based action during the resolution of a spell or ability. This is why cards like Necromantic Selection can steal commanders. At 19:38 when Barry casted Cloudshift on Slicer, what should've occured is Slicer being successfully exiled and returned to the battlefield under Barry's control. Because the full resolution of the spell ends with Slicer in the same Zone he started in. Had Barry casted a flicker spell that returns Slicer to the battlefield at the end of the turn, state based action WOULD let you put Slicer in the command zone, since the resolution of the spell would result in Slicer remaining in exile, and setting a delayed trigger for the end step to attempt to return him to the battlefield. Unfortunately for Slicer, Cloudshift exiles and returns immediately during the full resolution of the spell. Possibly a gamechanging misplay, but still always enjoyable to watch you guys play. Larry and Barry are two faces I always love seeing on the show. I can't wait for the next episode 😁

Also at 38:00 Larry could've chosen the reanimate option for Junji hitting the GY, since Lynch dying meant the Grafdigger's Cage was no longer on the battlefield when the dragon's trigger went on the stack.

Hey guys! I love the channel and all, but I just wanted to chime and say there was a small ruling error earlier! Cloudshift is a nasty card in commander as the creature return to the battlefield before statebased actions are checked. If Slicer had been exiled till end of turn then Lynch would've had the option to move it back to the command zone, but since it came back as part of the resolution it would've come back under the control of Barry.
I'm pretty sure Barry would have been able to keep Slicer and Lynch wouldn't have been able to put it back in the Command zone due to Cloudshift's wording being 1 paragraph. Meaning the card would resolve the flicker effect and Slicer would be back on the battlefield before giving it's owner a choice to put it into the Command zone/that the option would be left on the stack and because it is still on the battlefield it wouldn't be able to leave the battlefield to go to the Command zone.
Sorry, but that cloudshift has to resolve in it's entirety so Barry would have gained control of Slicer BEFORE state based actions (like that one where you choose to put your commander into command zone) are checked. Basically same rules as the new "Come Back Wrong".
When Slicer is flickered, I don't think Mike could have chosen to put it in the command zone. Correct? He could have chosen to put it back AFTER the resolution of the spell when priority is given; however, it will already be under Barry's control and the replacement would do nothing. Right?

I don’t believe that when you Blink/Flicker someone’s Commander that they would have a chance to put it back into the Command Zone. The resolution of a Spell/Ability supersedes the owner’s choice to return it to the Command Zone. So when Cloudshift was used on Slicer it should not have returned to its owners Command Zone because it didn’t finish resolving. The owner of a Commander can only choose to return it to the Command Zone when state based actions are checked after all Spells and Abilities have finished resolving.

Cloudshift should have stolen the Slicer. The timing to move your commander to the command zone is tied to state-based actions (SBA). SBAs are only checked when a player has priority or during clean up. 704.4 says state-based actions don't pay attention to what is happening during the resolution of a spell or ability. If Cloudshift resolves it will exile Slicer and return it to the battlefield. Slicer is only in exile while the spell is still resolving so there is never a window where Slicer is in exile and SBAs are checked. Lynch never had the choice to move it to the command zone.

I play a Karona deck with both Alexios and Slicer as backups. Slicer is better in my opinion because with Alexios, when your enemies attack with him, they can assign all the damage to a chump blocker and deal zero damage with trample. Also with Slicer you can choose who you give him to, whereas Alexios has to be given to everyone. You can choose not to give slicer to someone with something like a food chain or a Yuriko in the command zone.
