11 years later.. and it is confirmed. Translated, they official connect the Plasm Wraith's name to the Umibozu and the Amebozu. www.nintendo.com/jp/character/pikmin/report/07.html
I came back just for your video. People now probably won't realize how legendary this theory was at the time in the Pikmin space
Well according to something I read, the Umibozu in mythology "treasures" the corpse of the captain like a trophy..., and Olimar's suit puts him into a dead-like state around the creature....
Holy shiiiiiiiiitttt
Me oh my
One of Olimar's notes also says it stripped the Gold Plating off of the ship he and Louie were in, which is how it took on it's gold color.
@Competition For LOST Ah damn, my mistake. I could have sworn it was a note, but it isn't. It is based on the fact that, on the return trip to rescue louie, the ship has a snazzy gold coloring, however when you find it in pikmin 3, it's not gold anymore, yet somehow, the "Umibozu" is now gold.
If Louie got possessed by tasting the water wraith and the world is and illusion by the plasm wraith, and the water wraith and plasm wraith are the same creature, then why did Alph Charlie and Brittany get posses by consuming the fruits on the planet
Actually, according to some of Olimar's Notes, every time Olimar tried to leave the tower, the Plasm Wraith would catch him, knock him unconscious, and take him back to the top, It's not mothering Olimar, it's breaking him psychologically.
Austin McDaniel im not finished yet!
Austin McDaniel well it's not the wraith that is knocking him out it's his suit
Remember his suit knocks him out whenever he is surprised
And the plasm wraith doesn't know that it's hurting Olimar, it thinks he's it's child, meaning that it thinks he doesn't need to eat, like it.
@@gay4sswhovian I think you can remove the rape parr thought
Thank god he was saved!
If he didn't...well...HE WOULD GO INSANE AND DIE!
Maybe the reason Louie took Charlie’s rubber ducky was because Charlie’s the captain of his crew, and the ducky was one of his most prized possessions, thus, making Charlie fearful and scared
Or maybe it’s a treasure lol
@@TongPik3 Was thinking the EXACT same thing. They were on the planet to get more treasure after all.
Not a step closer or the duck gets it.
@@littlefox_100 LMAO
One little theory-like thing I have that really isn't related to this theory, just the part where Louie has to survive on his own in Pikmin 2. When you find Louie, he is on top of the final boss, which is a giant Dweevil armed with treasures. Louie is said after you find him, as wishing to be referred to as "The King of Bugs". After you strip the Dweevil of all it's treasures, it is a relatively easy boss, not being able to kill Pikmin, just swipe at them. I like to think that Louie befriended this relatively harmless creature to help him survive, and began to equip it with treasures they found so that it might fight more effectively. They probably had built up a partnership by the time you show up and fight it. Sadly, Louie was sleeping soundly on the Dweevil, confident in it's ability to protect him, and he wasn't able to explain that the Dweevil was in fact a creature loyal to him. He was completely unaware as you slaughtered his one companion....
deep
Robin Robout well damn now I feel bad about killing the dweavil. Shit.
Bryan Afanador dont feel that bad, it killed some pikmin.......
Captain Olimar true
Bryan Afanador I mean, if Louie was awake at the time he could have explained that it was a creature he befriended. Though the titan dweevil posed a threat to you and the pikmin, so most people can't blame us for killing him
God I miss the Pikmin 3 theory days man. You and Dave10772’s ideas always captured my young mind in 2013. Glad to see you’re still going strong dude.
2013?! Pikmin 3 CANNOT be that old yet.

+Chucky Parsons o
Dinotoonz AKA Ashton Fitzsimmons Wow great observation
The Dolphin is named after the GameCube-game-compatible emulator of the same name.
The planetary illusion idea would make a little bit of sense given that the Koppaiates named the planet "PNF-404", which could stand for Planet Not Found. It could also be a joke from Nintendo, but you never know.
xD
its just a reference to error 404 which means page not found
@@sheena8563 so it does mean planet not found

Stop
pikmin 4 adds a bit to the theory i havent seen anyone mention: the rookie is the only one, in all 4 games NOT to crash, why? because the umibozu targets captains, and the rookie is a new recruit, Shepard is the captain
There's just one thing I find kinda weird.
During the, I suppose escort mission in the formidable oak, in the cave-like area, there's a pool of water. If you go in it with brittanny and some blue/winged pikmin alongside Olimar, the plasm wraith won't go in the water. And considering the Umibozu is a water creature, I can't help but think there's something wrong.
Maybe I'm just getting something wrong, but I myself would think the plasm wraith is more of a misunderstood ally rather than an enemy.
Also, I noticed that during the pikmin games, it has a growing impact on what you need to save. What I mean is basically this:
Pikmin 1: Save yourself.
Pikmin 2: Save your company.
Pikmin 3: Save your entire planet.
It's my theory that in pikmin 4, whenever it'll come out, the main antagonist is going to try to have an impact on Koppai, Hocotate, and maybe even PNF-404 itself. But we'll just have to wait and see what Nintendo has in store for us.
Or the main villain could be trying to destroy the universe... That's also possible.
DittoMaster6 or every universe!
Lynne Wright Eh, I feel the game would have to mutilate the forth wall to do that successfully...
DittoMaster6 im also sure 3 is the ending one because the three planets are now completely safe.
Lynne Wright then describe the object that falls in the ending
Dazz’s old video game content and him dropping the whole thing due to declining views…it hurts a little more now that pikmin 4 was ACTUALLY ANNOUNCED.
Holy crap...
PNF-404 = Planet not Found! O_O
+Wallz TheGamer Wooooooooooooooooooooooooah... How did I not notice that?!

PIKMIN 4 INCOMING! (technical #5 cause "HEY PIKIN!" )
Oh-oh...
WER'E SCREWED!
We know that canonically the Pikmin games occur after the extinction of humans, so maybe the humans were so large that the "Umibozu"'s power was being held back, and when we went extinct, it was free to roam.
Not sure how humans existing would have anything to do with its power level but okay.
@@lasercraft32 My best guess is that the human souls basically transformed into the umibozu.
I made the theory that the Water wraith could be the spirit of a human as spirits are connected to the afterlife like how Olimar stated that "the Water wraith true form could be in another dimension", I also believe that Goolix has nothing to do with Wraiths or Umibozu, but what I don’t believe is that the Plasm Wraith is the umibuzu, It seems more to me that the Plasm wraith is the Embodiment of earth and Mourns the loss of humanity and Olimar reminds it of the humanity and decided to keep Olimar and wanted to protect him, it saw that Koppites were going to take Olimar away from it so it suck him up to prevent them from getting to Olimar
@@lasercraft32 Cause it's the size of an ant? We are massive compared to it.
@@thetzar2573 So? If the Umiibozu has the magical ability to cause meteorites and crash ships why would larger creatures simply existing limit its power?
For the whole 'mothering Olimar' inconsistency, think of it this way: Olimar had the cosmic drive key at the time, which the Koppai Crew needed for the S.S. Drake to make it back to Koppai. As such, it was valuable to the Koppai Crew, almost like a 'treasure' to them. As such, the Umibozu/Plasm Wraith could since how valuable Olimar was to them, and started treating him more like a treasure than a captain.
Also, I don't know how much I believe that the meteor was the Umibozu. I mean, even if the initial impact with it since chunks of it down to the planet, what caused the rest of the meteor to go down to it afterwards? I prefer to think the Umibozu was already on the planet, and the meteor is it's 'rogue wave' it uses to crash captains ships like in the legend. The meteor shower in Pikmin 1 was likely it expressing it's rage over Olimar nearly escaping, and the reason we don't see a meteor in Pikmin 3 is because the Umibozu became powerful enough at that point to crash star ships without the need of a meteor.
Also, I just don't flat out believe the 'Pikmin planet is the illusion of the Plasm Wraith' theory. I mean, assuming it was powerful enough for such a feat, why on earth would it create the Pikmin, creatures specifically designed to help the crashed captains survive, and also have the power to harm the Umibozu itself? I mean, quite honestly, it just sounds like the generic 'it's all in 'X' characters head' 'theories' found in too many bad creepypastas. It just has way too many plot holes to hold any water, no pun in intended.
I always thought that the Pikmin were rejects. As the wraith saw no use for them. Kinda like how Gooey from kirby was also rejected by Dark matter who saw no use in Gooey.
@@toasturhztoastbunz896 and I never knew about this
@@ninjdraw8305 What?
Wow. This made a lot of really good points. Some of it was stretching it tho. I always thought that the Water Wraith went into the fetal position. It is interesting that some enemies die without the little soul going up or a body remaining.

Olimar being the one crashing on the planet at the end of Pikmin 3 actually lines up perfectly with Pikmin 4

Agreed.
I feel like Smoky Progg should have something to do with it. That thing looks more like the Umibozu than all the other things.
it could, i mean its egg was surrounded by water
Canonically, the Smoky Progg is a baby Mamuta.
@@elijahpadilla5083 yeah that's also true

poor you 😔
Louie was not controlled in Pikmim 3, but he still had some connection with the Umibozo. In Olimar's log, it says that Louie sensed something in the Formidable Oak and wouldn't go on. Also, Louie was aware that he stole the rubber ducky and the juice from Alph, Brittany and Charlie because he said so in his video log. AND he talks for the first time.
I wouldn't say this is a "theory", it's really just an analysis of canonical facts. Would a paper on Hamlet be called a theory? The game really almost spells it out for you: the Plasm Wraith's romanised Japanese name is even "Amebouzu" meaning roughly "Water Umibouzu", and to emphasize its evolution, it even looks like the Goolix in its first stage. Hell, even the ending suggests the crash was intended by a malicious power. And ultimately, this is a Japanese legend inside of a Japanese game; it's not some huge shocking revelation.
I think it's also worth noting that Olimar is an astronaut of sorts, "naut" coming from the ancient Greek word for "sailor".
Well I don't think all the traits are true, like I don't think the Bulblax is creation.
@@tarponpet you’re entirely correct.
12:11 i don't think Louie is an antagonist at all, he just wants to eat everything he can eat
he probably also either thought he might be able to eat the rubber ducky, or he just wanted the rubber ducky cuz who doesn't want a rubber ducky?
actually, i don't want a rubber ducky, all my stuffed animal toys are too much for me, so i don't need a rubber ducky
also, earlier in yhe video, i just remembered you said that Louie was unconscious through the entire fight with the boss that had him, that's explained in Pikmin 3, some of Olimar's log entries say that his spacesuit has has a feature that forces the wearer to fall unconscious in stressful situations, and that he thought it had been disabled but apparently wasn't
duckies ftw
i wan't a a rubber ducky
Yeah, who *DOESN’T* want a rubber ducky?! I want one!

Not sure about anyone else, but I kinda miss when Dazz made these types of videos. They had a sort of home video sort of vibe that contrasted every other channel who did videos like this. What's he's doing now is still good, but I miss these videos.
7:33 "praying?" Looks more like "offering" if you catch my drift.
I remeber watching this when I was a kid and was scared af
This is so nostalgic.
I have a theory about why the little plasm was nurturing olimar. The part of the water wraith Louie ate became Louie. That's why Louie is suddenly an asshole and the plasm wraith wanted to nurture him. Wraith Louie didn't want to be abandoned in that form either, so he tried to prevent the other captains from taking olimar away
Don’t mind me guys, just visiting nostalgia
Likewise my friend

Wow! I Had No Idea That A Dolphin ,which is an aquatic animal as you said , Lives In The Sea!

Super Spoot so an entire planet survived a month with hardly any food? Makes sense
+KittenBot 24 why do you think their planet had literally zero food while alph and the others were searching...?
Super Spoot 716? I played and only lost 25 pikmin
I beat pikmin 3 in 26 days and got all the fruit and killed no pikmin beat that
When there is another pikmin, hopefully they will confirm this by adding a more completed form. Idea: A large arena only accessable by blue pikmin, completely filled up by "water". Then a large creature with the round head emerges.
I mean…….. you were kinda right
I made the theory that the Water wraith could be the spirit of a human as spirits are connected to the afterlife like how Olimar stated that "the Water wraith true form could be in another dimension", I also believe that Goolix has nothing to do with Wraiths or Umibozu, but what I don’t believe is that the Plasm Wraith is the umibuzu, It seems more to me that the Plasm wraith is the Embodiment of earth and Mourns the loss of humanity and Olimar reminds it of the humanity and decided to keep Olimar and wanted to protect him, it saw that Koppites were going to take Olimar away from it so it suck him up to prevent them from getting to Olimar
I'm pretty sure the enemies in the final level in pikmin 3 are made from the golden goop due to the fact it's golden
I don't think physics would agree with the whole planet being an illusion.

It's just 'evidence' to back up his theory
It's not his theory. You would know that if you read the description.
So your name is S.S Dolphin? Poor kid
The Dolphin name isn't really needed as evidence, since Olimar is a Captain in a space Ship.
Of course! The S.S. Dolphin was named after dolphins! Dolphins live in the sea! THE UMIBOZU IS A SEA-DWELLER!! Totally not a reference to the GameCube's prototype name, "Project Dolphin"; that would just be ridiculous.

lol I remember when I was traumatized by the thumbnail as a kid
me if i was young and i was a fan of godzilla, and i see this, i would have shouted *OH MY GOD HEADORA IN PINKMIN?!?!*
I think that after attempting to kill olimar for so long, the umibozu grew attached to him. Think of it kinda like the joker and batman. joker can't kill batman or the game will end, and batman just can't seem to kill or forever capture the joker no matter how hard he tries. The umibozu may have also come to realize that, since it feasts on olimar's fear, if it were to kill him- there goes it's source of favorite food. But keeping him alive and horrified in its den? That means infinite food Forever.
Well, until Olimar starves to death
My mother is a big fan of Pikmin. Like she made us buy the wii-U just for pikmin 3. So I found this video and showed her it. Her reaction was priceless. Let's just say when ever i mention the concept, she glares ate and yells " You ruined the game for me!!! Now all I think about is that monster thing coming out to kill olimar!!!!" I personally like the Umibozu story, but the SS Dolphin's name came from the Gamecube prototype name, which was Project Dolphin. Also Louie was under the impression of a kidnapture, which is why he ran of with the juice and rubber ducky.

Louie's need of food is because... well, he is hungry all the time, it is explained in "Louie's Dark Secret" even before the journey to PNF-404, I think Louie is there for the sake of his safety, his connection with bugs and his hunger. Also, I think the wraiths are completely different beings, the goolix being a giant amoeba, the Water Wraith being a paranormal being, and the Plasm Wraith being the sap of the oak, evolved and developing a need for Olimar, I think you are reading WAY too much into this,
PS. the Emperor Bublax buries himself at the end of Pikmin, so the goo theory is obviously wrong.
That's a good idea about the sap. If Pikmin had a bible, you wouldn't want to take it literally. All the words they use to describe objects are exaggerated. So i do think Plasm wraith could be tree sap from the oak tree. Good one. Though maybe all wraiths have some sort of connection and they are able to inhabit things like tree sap or water. hmmm
***** you'd tell the truth after sending your employer into bankruptcy?
Would that mean that Louie is a female who is pregnant with odd cravings XD
Bluespheal So basically Louie suffers from binge eating disorder...?
Pika the Almighty Maybe not a disorder, but he seems to always be hungry.

Hedorah? Is that you?
The Smokey Prog actually left behind a soul when it died... The Beady Longlegs, and Manatlegs also left behind a soul...Maybe they were containing the Umibozu... And the Raging Lonlegs left behind a soul too, do you even remember who had a soul?
Did I just watch a Pikmin conspiracy-theory?
I have an idea that explains the Plasm Wraiths tratment of Olimar; it's payback for the Smokey Phrogg. In the first game, Goolix, Mamuta and her baby the smokey Progg are all optional bosses. You can do one and not the others, but I'll talk about the story if you do all three, which is a likley outcome if you want to do everything in the game. Now, the Goolix and Mamuta are connected in some way, appearing at the impact site on different days. I beleve this was to show their connection. The Smokey Phrogg is thought to be a malformed larval mamuta, the keyword being 'thought'. Are you seeing what I'm getting at? I think the Smokey Phrogg is the child of Mamuta and Goolix. It is a common idea the Goolix and other creatures are the same thing, including the Plasm Wraith. As revenge of sorts (or for some other reason) the Plasm Wraith replaces its lost child, the Progg, with its killer, Olimar. Dun dun dun!
PNF-404
Page not found 404 confirmed is earth
PNF-404 is based on earth in the future when humans are gone according to chugga
I knew the Plasm Wraith was possibly based on the Umibozu and Alphs unease on the cause of their crash, but didnt really think it may of stretched back that far back in the series. If Im not mistaken in Pikmin 2 one entry has Olimar state the planet had changed so much since he left, to establish a sense of time he returned home and was made to go back their immediately to gather treasure, All of which would only be a few days tops. Even sections of the Wistful Wilds contains parts that look the same as the Impact Site and the Final Trial both areas that could be fearful for Olimar. Impact Site looking part reminding him of the first time he crashed on the planet and the Final Trial reminding him of the terror of Emperor Bulblax and thus giving the Plasm Wraith Power. I personally believe the 'meteor' at the end of Pikmin 3 was another unfortunate space explorer. But it could of also been Louie.
Time dilation is something that would occur with long-distance space travel, in the cutscene it may have been a short time between Olimar returning and promptly embarking on his journey back, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of thousands of years or more passing back on Earth.
@@rhysf.505thought about the same thing but realised that would mean that time would have gone faster for him too while he was on pnf404 which it didnt
This was really awesome! Haha, well done! It's very characteristic of Nintendo to insert little details like this that point to connections with ancient Japanese stories, even if they may never acknowledge it as an official layer to the story. My mind is blown, this was so entertaining!!
3:26 if I had to guess, the story is just following the Sci-fi tradition of using maritime tropes while replacing the ocean with space and land with planets. Olimar is a marooned ship captain, just on a planet instead of an island and with a spaceship instead of a ship-ship
Also, that thing in the end with Captain Olimar coming back in the Dolphin couldn't be possible. Olimar actually made the 3rd trip down there on his own choice, he states in the secret logs that he enjoys treasure hunting. In Pikmin 1 he came because he crashed, in Pikmin 2 he came back to repay the company's debt, and in Pikmin 3 he returns in order to find enough treasure to buy back the SS Dolphin (since the Hocotate Freight president sold it to repay the debt).
I was thinking that possibly it could be so accustomed to the land, that it's forgotten it's a water creature, hence it not wanting to go in water.
3:48 someone else already said this, but the 'Dolphin' was a secret name for the GameCube while it was still in development, NOT a reference to a sea monster
Creating a planet as a Illusion IS lethal power, so when Pikmin came out, The Planet was not a Illusion made by the Umibozu
Once a banger, always a banger.
The only thing I don't agree with in his theory is that the Umibozu had nothing to do with Louie stealing the juice.
I think it did, because it knew the Koppite Crew was after Olimar, so it tried to kill them off so they wouldn't be in the way.
That makes sense. And an extra thing Louie takes Charlie's rubber duck, which is his greatest treasure.
Connor Scanlon maybe the umibozu was trying to make them come after Louie and he would lead them strait to it so it could kill the captain or maybe it was trying to get treasure
Wyatt Narasky Then why not land in the Formidable Oak? that's where it would be.
But a good theory
Connor Scanlon yeah I guess there's a hole in the theory but thanks!
Maybe he's trying to feed off their fear as well. You would be scared too if someone took practically all of your food out on a foreign planet.
This is one of my favorite videos ever.
The smoky progg DOES leave a soul...
Also, these theories all sound pretty farfetched, except for the wraiths, but yeah.
AgentUndertaker ya i didnt like this theroy because he said the planet might be a illusion but the planet is EARTH just 200 million years after human extinction.
@@That_Guy_Ty How do you know the exact time? Also, would it still contain radiation from whatever caused radiation 200 million years later? Wouldn't have some-one discovered it before then?

Also notice how the man at legs make a sound like meat when it opens with its gun and its non metal chips are the beady long leg skin
Pikmin 3’s intro is from the perspective of a flight path programme for the for the S.S. Drake, and we already know from Pikmin 2’s intro that ships don’t register the meteor on their sensors.
So maybe the meteor hasn’t fully broken up yet.
Pikmin 4 confirmed.
Did you know, when fighting the titan deweevil these flying tiny bugs appear and when you defeat the deweevil they vanish???
I watched this video when it first came out and just remembered it for some reason so I came back to see it
Ah it's always good to look back on the old by video
Honestly this theory has some good points but I personally believe the Plasm Wraith is the Pikmin god, the one who created them, but the betrayed it so it captures Olimar in an attempt to attract the Pikmin back to it. . . And I think Pikmin 4 might just be the revenge story of the Plasm Wraith
I think Loui is just a jerk in pikmin 3. Him having some plasm guy inside him is likely but I think he stole the Kopites food and rubber ducky cause he’s a selfish greedy guy. The whole conflict of pikmin 2 was caused by Loui eating all of the golden pikpik carrots and claiming he was attacked by a giant space bunny
He also has an insatiable appetite which is why he wrote instructions on how to cook every enemy in pikmin 2 and why he constantly asks for more food in pikmin 3
Wow, that was very well thought out.
+Invader 9 Productions No it wasn't
I think the S.S, Dolphin is a reference to the gamecube's code name
Perhaps the Waterwraith was the Umibozu in some sort of infancy. Knowing only who Olimar is, it sought to find him. In this way its sentience is limited and might see the pikmin as a deterrence from it reaching Olimar

Umibozu are yokai known to appear in oceans while sailing those who speak to it or interact with it will be attacked and there is almost no way to escape from these yokai
Svizer Yes, Comment something mentioned in the video
lol
Svizer I would not want to encounter it 😧
a theory 10000000000000000000000000000000000000x better than any fnaf theory
to be honest that's not really saying much
Aren't they in kind of a way different category, isn't that kinda like saying a tank is a not fast jet?
You can't multiply 0 by 10000000000000000000000000000000000000.
yes you can, because it's nearly impossible for something to be 0, it's probably 0.000000000000001 and you can multiply that by 10000000000000000000000000000000000000
+Boomshot holy shit 🔥
Not to disprove this theory in pikmin 3 the shaggy long legs disappears without a trace just take that into consideration
I love this video!
I might be tripping but...
Maybe, the smoky progg, water wraith, leech hydroe(from Hey! PIKMIN),goolix, plasm wraith are all from the same dimension.
Ok,hear me out,i think they are part of...something bigger and more evil...something that, would be capable of erasing olimar, louie, the pikmin and ETC from existence...
Also named "umibozu" but on both land and water...
Does someone agree with me???
No?
Ok...
About pikmin 3...What about captain Charlie?
Gabe St. Onge
he said he only wants to kill olimar because he is the main captain but charlie is a main captain too
DJ Fox Captain Charlie did get straight up eaten at the beginning.
Gabe St. Onge
Ah good point, that still leaves the question...how did they crash?
o.o
It is said in the pikmin 3 deluxe piklopedia that captain charlie is only a squad captain whereas olimar is a ship captain which for some reason makes him more of a captain than charlie
Seems way, way too far fetched. Pikmin has some dark undertones, but this is ridicolous.
It is indeed far fetched, but also believable due to it's supporting evidence.
Hawelo92 ......or is it.....
Hawelo92 s.s dolhpin the worrst evidence as that a refence to the gamecube code names
Andrew Camp Just cause it's a reference to something doesn't mean it can't be a reference to something else?
Hungry Ditto that deos make sense but the dolphin was hidden in a ton of nintendo games on the conseles like mario sunshine and mario kart double dash so does that mean they have mythical evil creature no
This was uploaded on my birthday!
13:43
They don't explode. What happens is that since they're regular entities [as in they behave normally], they die like normal, and Pikmin might try and carry them for a handful of frames. Then it unloads and turns into plasm wraith goop, which then unloads as well.
Wooooah. That was really cool! ^_^
Make my love of pikmin grow evermore!
Well, I cannot believe I had watched you for 5 yers
Dazz your probably not going to read this but I think it's amazing how you manage to find all these theories
Loved this video when I was younger when I was in my Pikmin phase
