- It's finally here! My Christmas present to you! Rated in 14 different categories, let's see how well Pikmin 3 has scored.
Dave10772's channel - / dave10772
Now onto my little conundrum. I'm kinda missing my old speculation days, and while making top 10s and 5s is fun, I don't enjoy them as much as I did speculating. Therefore, from now on, I'm gonna do both on this channel! My only issue is...I don't know what to speculate about. I'd love to talk about Mario Kart 8 or Super Smash Bros or something like that, but what exactly can I talk about? Video would seem pretty dull if I just showed a new smash bros picture and said, "Rosalina Confirmed", so I don't really know what to do.
That's where you come in! If you know what I can specifically talk about for any upcoming game, please give me suggestions! Let the speculation days begin!

What if Hey Pikmin! is Olimar's dream when he is knocked out?
PichuLink Gaming huh good point
Pretty sure he was referring to the bad ending of Pikmin 1.
@doge king heh
I like pikmin 3 the most, it has lock on and pikmin that cannot be squished by boulders. Oh yea, and no instant kill electricity. But to be honest, I do wish that pikmin 3 kept everything from pikmin 2. Treasures and the piklopedia were amazing.
Even the caves?
@@connorthompson66 For me, caves are difficult places, boring, visually repetitive, too present, with a design (walls, floor, etc.) not at all natural and totally square, and they break the logic: since when does going underground make time stop and stop the sun?
@@samuelabillard6126 I totally agree. Caves, while they do add an interesting exploration element to Pikmin, shouldn't come back as caves. Perhaps a new game type for those people who just want to explore instead of having a time limit placed on them(I know that's the goal of Pikmin, but I'm compromising)?
@@SimonThomas-qr8nv i totally agree
pikmin 3 deluxe:
A problem with reviewing controls: the gamepad has a stylus mode which you touch the gamepad screen to move the redicle which removes your problems with the gamepad. So I would give controls a 5/5
Dazz, you forgot in surprises about the Alph's note when you finish the game that say that Louie is lost :O
This was a very well thought out review, Dazz. And although I don't completely agree on the final score, I enjoyed the review from start to end!
I find that the characters in the NTSC version of the game are a lot less charming then in the PAL version, probably because they made their personality traits a lot more subtle
A REVIEW?! ON DAZZREVIEWS?! IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING!?
lol
Exactly what I wanted for Christmas!
Dazz, I'd really like to see you tackle more video game theories. I think you'd be really good at that sort of thing, and after what I've seen of your Pikmin theory videos, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the urban legends and backstories of Mario, Link, Kirby and other Nintendo favorites.
Great review Dazz, I agree that the game is great, but not a perfect game by any means! I'd say that your score is pretty close to my own estimate, but the time you put into the vid payed off!
I feel the same way with replay ability. The main reason is the "time limit" You can't keep going as long as you want
You can't do that with Pikmin 1 either, though, and he said 1 was replayable.
They went really safe with the characters and the story of pikmin 3, unlike the first two.
In the surprises category, you forgot the very last log after the credits roll, stating that Louie once again somehow managed to get himself stranded on the planet! That was definitely a surprise for me!
iv played this game 5 times and still want to play this game.
I like mission mode, but since when the story ends I feel that there isn't much more to do.
My favorite thing about Pikmin 3 is the ease in switching between different types of pikmin. It's soooo much easier than Pikmin 1 and 2. This is the way I think it always should've been. I definitely love replaying Pikmin 3 (much more than Pikmin 2, which is long and has uninteresting caves) but agree that it's an inconvenience to have to delete your current saved data. At least it keeps track, It's fun to try to beat your score.
I think u should speculate donkey kong country tropical freeze because there is alot to discover in the trailers and i know since u r so good at finding things u should do it! P.S love these long videos!
Pikmin 3 gets overlooked on the Wii U it's so sad since I think it's the best game Wii U has imo anyway
You could try going in to more depth on each series in your SSB4 roster, talk about things like items, stages, stage hazards, etc.
When you talked about the music of the final area, I remembered my almost traumatic experience 2 years ago running from giant mystery blob and his spooky music. Well it WAS giant mystery blob until I handed the controller to my older brother, he did it for me, and i fought the Plasm Wraith over the course of like three (in-game) days, and beat the game with like 50 pikmin of each type left.
yeh, the music and ambience... it's too much for me.
Inspired by your method, this is how I rate my games now.
Overall fun: 20
Design (level design, areas): 15
Difficulty (includes balance): 10
Replayability: 10
Story: 7
Visuals: 7
Soundtrack: 7
Characters: 5
Enemies (includes bosses): 5
Controls: 5
Polish: 5
Extra stuff (includes surprises): 4
I also add a maximum of one bonus point per feature if that feature is really outstanding. I really like your methods but you should balance them out more and definitely add fun factor in there. Other than that, great review!
I enjoyed the video, I miss your Pikmin content.
I know you made this a couple of years ago, but nice video!
I experienced a glitch, where sometimes in the twilight river, when you jump off the Lily pad onto the log and it's the one near the fruit that's buried next to the snagrit they'll attempt to go to it, but they'll be jettisoned outside of the map, and you can't get them back, like they'll just stop moving because they target it but they just freeze & slide out the map
Hey a speculation for Pikmin 4 I have is maybe one of the new types of Pikmin will have some sort of camouflage ability. Just a thought.
you're great dazz
Caverns with sublevels must come back
Dude, that was just repetitive filler.
MrGuyGaming
I never found it repetitive, it opened for a whole lot of enemies and crazy levels
Kritken Ok, opinions are opinions.
I get a feeling they will in Pikmin 4. I think Pikmin 3 was just getting the engine right for the game, just as Pikmin was setting it for Pikmin 2.
They should, with many different and new factors improving mechanics
6:49 Olimars Koppad? or Hopad?
Dazz, something I thought that would be quite exciting to watch would be a review for the original Pikmin and Pikmin 2, since you've already done a review for the third Pikmin game it would seem fitting. Also seeing as your a massive Pikmin fan (Like myself) have you got the rare Olimar and Louie plushies made by senei, I have been searching for one for a while but if you've searched as long as I have you'll notice that they only appear on the American eBay which is unfortunate for us UK players ;-;
Don't worry Dazz, I always feel link I need to replay Pikmin 3 again, but when I do, I don't feel that amazing !WOW! feeling when I first played it anymore... Bummer...right?...
And so, Dazz the Armored Mawdad finally lives up to his username and does a review, ensuring the fact that the world is free from harm...
I caught the final trial on the formidable oak in rain
I understand the stylus control was added later, but you could have done a mini review or something on it. The stylus has an advantage as it can be held down to show the aim and simed everywhere, but a disadvantage is that the aiming isn't highly accurate.
19:45 not only this but when you listen pikmin 3 uses A LOT of sound affects from other games
i noticed the :o part was either the shower room or the jelly float pool backwards
I never had any of those glitches... I only ever had the fruits floating a little bit above the Pikmin's hands.
took u longz enuff geeeeeeeeeeeez
"no whites and purples in story mode"
guys how would you feel if you had to balance 7 types? i would go insane
and i'm gonna be honest with you guys.
this is my favorite pikmin game
idk just the caves we're good in 2 but they dind't had that much of a unique design
I think the result is this:
14 for 5 species
15 for 2 species
100 at all
I would want the choice to have 7 pikmin at once, maybe it could be considered as a hard mode, with the areas and obstacles changed slightly to fit it better.
It would be so cool to have that as an option.
On the game pad controls you can click down the left stick and it goes straight to your character
The last boss is godly powerful!
omg i just realized something!! the ending hints pikmin 4!!! can't wait!!
Your comment was born 6 years ago, and no Pikmin 4... Looks like we have to wait more...
Hey Dazz... Since Pikmin is your favourite serie, why don't you make "Let's Plays" for the first two games ? I'd love to watch them
Dazz I believe your forgetting fun factor
Well you couldn't really do a fun factor since he might give it a 10/10 but another person might not find it as fun. It's really based on your opinion.
Scott Shullick that's the whole point of a review. It's all just one person's opinion.
Analyses of whatever trailers are out at the time? Because those are always fun watch.
Also, your story skip annotation doesn't work.
Seriously.... when playing Pikmin 3 at 4K on Cemu, it's legitimately one of the most beautiful games to have ever graced my eyes.
You should talk about the DLCs for Pikmin 3 and the ending of Pikmin 3 (if you haven't done it yet)
8:40 what if it was like an enemy rush? All the nocturnal enemies takes on the leaders in waves.
The main complaint I have with this game is the lack of caves. They should have added 1 cave per area that would be around 5-10 sublevels deep. That way it would make the game much longer, give Nintendo the ability to add more bosses and return enemies, and even add more story elements. Removing the sublevel style caves and the piklopedia really hurt this game in my opinion.
Maybe you could do some speculation on non-nintendo games, more mature games? younger audience games? I think a couple good games to speculate about would be! (get a notepad XD)
The walking dead game (telltale) Season 2 Ep 2-5 (PLAY IT IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY GAAAAH)
Maybe The Last Of Us DLC (left behind)
Sonic lost worlds DLC
Maybe you could do retrospects?
The legend of zelda (massive series :D)
Spyro
Crash
ALL sorts of games! I personally love your commentary and way of , videos? i cant pinpoint it but you are really enthusiastic and such, anyway im not here to kiss your ass, I would very much enjoy seeing you do some games for older audiences or some sort of retrospect!
Love from your aussie fans!
Dazz i just noticed something! At the end of Pikmin 3 you can see something fall down from the sky you maybe already seen that but some people Think it's a spaceship or a meteor. But i Think it's louie becuse at the final day instead of saying like day 36 it says END in every day you can see alph brittany or Charlie write something about the day. in the day END you can see that alph is Writing exacly this: Our mission is over, and we have managed to retrieve all of the edible matter available in this planet's explorable areas! We shall return to Koppai with our heads held high. Strangely Louie, the other Hocotatian we saved is nowhere to be found. i thought he'd boarded the SS Drake with us, but maybe we left without him? Still from what we've seen, he'll be OK wherever he is... So what do you Think Dazz please reply if you have already seen this or something and i Think louie is the thing falling down to the planet. Please thumbs up to this comment so Dazz can see it! sorry if my English is bad i'm just 13 years old and is Swedish.
3 years late club, but that's a reference to Pikmin 2's ending
i wanted to post this on your latest video so you would see it, so i saw your super mario sunshine videos about the possabilitys of a new game and i would like to say i totally agree...kinda, allow me to explain i belive there will not be super mario sunshine 2 because of galaxys succsess but i am also against a galaxy 3, but i belive nintendo will "combo" sunshine two and galaxy 3, i belive galaxy will have to do with the game because of rosalina being a playable charecter in so many games lately (MK8, 3d world, even Smash bros 4) so this is nintendos way of hinting it to us and in MK8 there is a race track called Sunshine airport and there are planes that hav a luma on them, so we can conclude that there will be a super mario sunshine galaxy world, ok that would never be a title or atleast i hope not
Dazz, awhile your review system is interesting, I think a review's end score should be your overall feeling about the game. For example, look at GameXplain's current reviewing system, they end it off by saying how they felt about it.They "loved" Kirby Triple Deluxe and gave Mario Kart 8 a "Liked-a-lot". I don't think scoring different parts of the game and putting them together is a bad idea, but I feel the review should just express your opinion on the game overall, and what you liked about it. (Sorry if that was a little confusing)
I just realized the tropical wilds boss has eyes
-Long time Pikmin fan here.
Actually, I have the same opinion about replayability as well. The reason I don't think it's as replayable is because Pikmin 3's gameplay and story felt a lot more "structured". What I mean by this is that, I feel Pikmin 1 and 2 had more general freedom about how you wanted to go on about getting things done. You could put off certain caves or go right for them in Pikmin 2. On top of that, a lot of the cave sublevels were randomly generated terrains with the same enemy count. So it didn't feel completely the same every time you played through the same caves.. You could collect certain ship parts in any order that you decided would work best in Pikmin 1. But in Pikmin 3....it's just a lot more...set. It would be awkward not to take this route since this one is the easiest. I feel as though Pikmin 3 had a lot of obvious pathways you were supposed to take and do these tasks in this order. Meanwhile, Pikmin 1 and 2 stretched that pathway idea out a little, and made items and routes about equal in challenge to gain. So there was a lot more "choices" to make in the previous games. And usually, when you replay a game, you want to have that sense of freedom. I don't think Pikmin 3 gave you that same type of freedom that made you want to replay it often.
Also, I felt as though Pikmin 3's story was way too short. Sure, you technically had 99 days to get through the game, but there's not a whole lot of content in the story mode to explore. In comparison to the other Pikmin games, I think Pikmin 3 had the shortest play time because getting through the areas and story itself is way too easy (which you mentioned in your review).
Overall, I felt Pikmin 3 was absolutely stunning and still a great game, but I have a personal doubt that I'd want to replay it again.
Pikmin 3 was my first and my fave very nostalgic 4 me
There's also bingo battle for replayability, plz keep nostalgia and what will be used instead of sequality for non sequel review
You should do reviews on the other 2 pikmin games.
im woching this when pikmin 3 is out
i think it has ALOT of replayabillity. i havent replayed the story... but multiplayer.. bingo battle.. THE BEST
Twilight river is the only place that has two themes which is the normal and sunset
And the formidable oak is the only place that just has a plain theme
Besides the rain themes and battle themes
AAAAAND The S.S drakes intena changes color due to whatever captain you need to find
I just got pikmin 3,Nintendo land and the WiiU for Christmas
6:02 so kopai is thanos’s planet in Nintendo
The pikmin games are playable in almost any order (except pikmin 2 which I believe that should be played after pikmin 1 always)
And especially with pikmin 3 which was the way I was introduced to the series
Why does nobody like the stylus controls? I think its actually really precise
If you like Attack on Titan, you could try and speculate about what season 2 would involve.
I saw a clip from an episode of his P3 LP My banana's on fire!
How about you look into the " mysteries project" that mymoto is working on?
Did anyone else think the fruit and things like tree stumps looked plastic in the rain?
Yes I feel that it is super replay able
this game has GREAT replayability, because you can go millions of ways through the game just like 1 and 2!
Actually, you have the backstory for Olimar and Louie wrong, like a lot of people do (it's only very briefly glanced over, but it's still there)... they're not saving the company from debt this time, they're trying to buy back the original Pikmin 1's S.S. Dolphin (which was seized and auctioned off at the start of Pikmin 2).
actually with the game pad you can use the right bumper to aim better with the game pad and pro controller
I felt like Pikmin 3 had less replay-ability because it only has one save file. I don't like going back over a fully completed save file for another playthrough.
He says he’s being “nit picky” but it felt very generous to me. Not to say that pikmin 3 is a bad game by any means, but when talking he’d complain quite a bit, but he always gave high scores
Wait does Louie come with olimar Britney Alph and Charlie? it’s been 6 years and I still haven’t gotten the game I just forgot about it
I do think it can
I never replayed Pikmin 3 because I cant commit to deleting my whole file. But I DID play Bingo Mode for like 6 hours with my sister. We get so competitive and it never got old.
But for speculating, maybe the next Metroid?
why do you need to delete you're file?
You can't have more than one save file
TheMEOWWWWW WAAAAT!? They downgraded pikmin 3? this isn't Pokemon!
I had a glitch with a flying yellow pikmin!
how about a analasis of the mario kart 8 trailers
A little late but Olimar and Louie did not return to PNF-404 because Hocotate Freight has gone into debt again. Olimar states in one of his logs that he returned because he wants his old ship back (the S.S Dolphin) and he needs to pay for it to get it back.
And in ANOTHER one of his logs, he says "Hocotate Freight is in debt once again".
+MrGuyGaming that was written during pikmin 2
captain louie No. In one of those bonus video logs, Olimar was standing in a Pikmin 3 location and said that they were in debt again and searching for treasure.
You are thinking of the gamepad (and pro controller, controls exactly the same) controls in the wrong way: when you control your character, you're controlling the reticle directly, and your captain pretty much follows along. You need to think of it in terms of moving the reticle, not the captain. I actually prefer the pro controller/gamepad because of the camera stick. The WiiChuck is a little more precise with the reticle, but with experience the Pro/Pad works perfectly.
You dont have to shake the gamepad you can just lock on and press b
If you want all endings yeah
(Carries fruit upside down) there is no way to carry a fruit.
YetiBlizzard they carry the fruit, while upside down. Like, with their legs instead of hands
I think if you give a game 100 it should be honored highly. Theres nothing wrong with being strict, all that really needs to change is you just need to review more games so people have something to benchmark your other reviews with. I do agree though that nostalgia can go. Maybe replace it with something like multiplayer experience. I actually think you gave some things to high of a score but thats just me. Still this is your review not mine so you do what you want.
What I really missed in Pikmin 3 was the difficulty. Few weeks ago I played Pikmin 2 again and I remembered; it's a LOT more difficult than Pikmin 3. You really have to think on every single thing to not lose your Pikmin.
And something about the story, what you didn't mentioned or maybe haven't known yet; Did you read the very last ship log? I know, you're thinking now "of course I did" but the last report was written shortly before the Drake is flying back to Koppai and the game doesn't show it automatically, you have to go to the day select to read it. I first saw it two months after I finished the game and when I had read this ship log I just thougt :"no.......no, this can't be true.... Why ='[]
You forgot to mention the stylus mode control for the gamepad
That control style was put into the game AFTER this review came out, it was quite a late add-on.
that came out recently, not last year
I'm ok with the nerf of the purple pikmin (except the stun part) because it gives the red pikmin a chance to shine again. In Pikmin 1, they were the best pikmin (in my opinion) to have because of their fighting skills whereas in Pikmin 2, they were basically useless except the use for them to be turned into purple pikmin and taking down fire geysers.
um no fuck the nerf of the purples. once you establish how something works in a game you have to stick with it. especially with pikmin since they're all basically the same just with different objectives/areas. purples were strong but super slow, and they were much rarer and you would have to be careful rationing them
Dazz I know this is a late comment but pickmin 3 isn't nearly as replay able as 2 at least because in 2 it's near impossible to remember all the different and well designed floors of the caves so every time I at least go exploring in a cave I never remember the exact layout of the floors like the bomb rock traps always surprise me also swarming is OP please nerf also in pikmin 2 most all of the bulborgs are very threatening if your not paying attention also there are so many different enemys
1 year late but the caves in pikmin 2 are randomized
Purples are in the game? I thought they weren't included?
Bout time.
I've played through pikmin 3 at least 7 times and have never experienced any glitches
It's odd to comment on this a year too late, but I think that you should have less categories, since if you don't agree with the score, that is a bit odd in itself. I think that would be good, since the game wouldn't lose a ton of points off of nit-picking, and instead would lose
the pro controler has good camera and good player controls :D
I would personally rate it about 92 outta 100
why would you ever make nostalgia a factor
If non-Blue Pikmin hate getting wet, then how do they cope with the rain?
Personally, I felt Pikmin 1 was good. I didn't like many rudimentary kick-start of the series elements in that game. I utterly despised the timeline.... although, it really wasn't a problem after my 3rd or so try when i was still quite young. Then Pikmin 2... LOVE THAT GAME! I love how it has 4 main areas to explore, just like pikmin 1; HOWEVER, caves made an appearance. Caves doubled the length of the game easily and also added a new challenge. There were still the above ground missions and day progression bar in the game, but caves offered a unique feel. Caves put your combat abilities to the test while the above ground areas put your time management to the test. What i'm getting at is that I loved the settup of pikmin 2 a ton and loved the overall length, format, difficulty, and replayability of the game so much. When I began seeing trailers and gameplay footage and such of pikmin 3, i felt i'd be drastically disappointed.... which i have utterly been. It seemed short, disconnected from the other pikmin story lines, low amount of bugs, rather easy (to the point of not really wanting to play it again), and lacked overall WOW factor. Of course, it offered bingo battles, missions, and outstanding graphics, but I just feel like those things are dwarfed when in comparison of the other things it lacked. Overall, I was just so super let down by Pikmin 3 and i seriously hope pikmin 4 is a much needed redemption of the franchise.
SgtSchlautter What do you mean by "other pikmin story lines"
19:43 DUCK HUNT CONFIRMED FOR PIKMIN 4 FINAL BOSS!
Here's what I suggest if you have a Wii u then get Pikmin 3 and since its backwards comparable with Wii games then get the New Play Control Pikmin and the Nintendo Selects Pikmin 2 but my guess is some people are going to lose pikmin since they're starters listening to this
