    Great stuff, in wet climates you might want to make sacrificial 'legs' to raise the lounger up off the ground, they could be soft or hardwood. The other thing I have done is add wheels to a lounger with lockable castors, they worked ok but the ground needs to be pretty level. Keep up the good work!

    • @joannecarroll5504
      @joannecarroll5504 6 лет назад

      I was just thinking they could be a little bit hefty to move around & castors would really help.

    Nice looking loungers, love the look. This is meant in a constructive type of way though. But how long will these last? With all the tight fits and screws wood movement is sure to split and crack. Only concern is that, with them being outdoors, exposed to moisture and swelling. But great job girls

    You could use solid 4x4 or 6x6 posts save joing wood. Also that's a lot of weight resting on those 2inch screw in the side batons - not better to mitre section out of the sides so it's resting on the actual wood not the screws!. But love the design.

    • @timtok7893
      @timtok7893 2 года назад

      I'm actually building them right now and I thought about that. But I will just add a small bracket for additional support under where the butt would be to hold weight when sitting up. They never mention and I don't see it in the plans on overall lenght. I build before I I assume it's 72" or a tad longer than cushions but they never mention cutting the 2x4x8's. I'm using 4x6's

    HI I love your channel! very encouraging to the first time DIYer! questions: 1) I don't see you us sander as much as I see from other channels. Do you chose certain type of boards that don't requires as much sanding? 2) I am in love with West Elm Emmerson table, it looks like it's very simple so i wonder if you can show us how to build a similar chunky long table.

    • @shanty2chic

    Love the look, but I have some constructive criticism. You mentioned several times to use outdoor screws and hinges, but what about treated lumber? That wood will start rotting, twisting, with the 1st rain. You should coat with an outdoor water sealer at the very least.

  • @timcastle241

    Instead of stacking 4 2x6 and then adding the small piece inside for the base why not sandwich a 2x8 in there and you’ll already have your ledge...

    • @timtok7893
      @timtok7893 2 года назад

      I thought about that too, but it would not give you the look of the raised arms on the side. The 2x4's would be flush with the sides. One thing they never discuss in video or plans is the length they cut the 2x4x8's. I'm assuming it's length to the cushion, but just not specified. I have built two chaisse lounges before, but it might be beneficial for others to see.

    85$ for soft pinewood which wouldn't last one seasons outside eesh...also where is the price and link for the cushion? This looks more like a 200$ total cost + weatherproofing finish on the wood but it still wouldn't last very long considering it's not hardwood. :( better buy new.

    ”Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it) is a fantastic book about wood working. I am a graduate of a one-year carpentry program from a local tech college. Of all the books I have read during my study about woodworking, I think this is the best book I have read so far. It describes everything concerning woodworking and complements it with helpful pictures. .
