    I totally agree with you. Noise is the enemy. Everywhere. And especially at home when you're ready for a peaceful moment with a good cup of coffee. I'll consider the Ceado E37J instead. Or the Eureka libra. Not one dose grinders, but much more silent. A silent one dose could be the Niche, but not available here in France unfortunately.

    I definitely do not hear the sound of the grinder anywhere near C7. Though it might be louder than other grinders, it is also much faster so the duration of noise will be much shorter. Thank you for grinding straight into the portafilter. i can't figure out why so many people have to do the transfer step.

    Interesting. You are the only person who says the DF83 V2 is not for lighter roast coffees. Most reviews I have seen recommend the DF83 for lighter and the DF64 for darker raosts.

    Good job..up your audio level a couple dB. You have a very nice "everyman" delivery..honest, straightforward. Keep it going.

    Nice video.
    I have a mazzer major, used for the catering cart pulling shots for milky drinks.
    I think the hopper is great for grinding for batch brew, cold brew (?) or bags of coffee.
    Other than that? Not sure.
    It sounds awful like my mazzer major.

      Thanks! Yes, for cold brew a hopper is definitely nice to have. I kept the stock hopper on my Vario for that exact purpose.
      Worked a long time with Mazzers in cafes, taste profile is definitely quite similar.

    How do these stock burrs compare to the SSP HU ?

  • @VinegarAndSaltedFries
    @VinegarAndSaltedFries Год назад

    I think you should have added with the increased price of the Burrs because of the increased size, also comes increased potential for taste individuals might be looking for.

    • @DavidLikesCoffee
      @DavidLikesCoffee  Год назад +1

      That's definitely true in theory, but the 83mm SSPs are so new and I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I think the grinder itself is worth the difference for the build quality, and hope that the 83mm burrs also add some value compared to the 64mm variants.

    This looks like its obviously much improved from its DF64 smaller sibling in terms of workflow. I love my DF64, but the weekly cleanings--where I have to vaccuum off all the chaff that's been statically pulled to the exterior of the machine--are definitely a pain point for me. Have you tried any other burr sets with the 83? It would be interesting to see how the SSP burrs on the 83 taste.

      I'm really curious about this! I wasn't able to try any of the SSP offerings but am especially curious about the lab sweet set on this grinder.

    How does it compare to your Barratza vario grinder? I own the Barata area now and am considering the DF 83 V2/V3 as an upgrade. Any thoughts?

    Did you try to Hot Start the grinder, or do you always put the beans in first and then turn the grinder on? I go for a hot start with my Df64 but I am not sure if that makes a big difference.

    • @DavidLikesCoffee
      @DavidLikesCoffee  Год назад

      Without an anti popcorn insert hot start is a little tricky but doable. That would definitely be an add on to consider.

    Comparing to DF64 stock burr, does DF83 stock burr perform better quality coffee for espresso?

    Hm, the hopper feels very classic looking. I wonder if it's added because a lot of customers expect it with a burr grinder or really for aesthetics. Gives the 'fancy coffee shop made mini for my home' vibes.

      I am pretty sure it's added in case you want to grind a bag of coffee to take camping or something?

    The amount of chaff on the exterior of this grinder is insane. Its always nostop wipe downs. Yes i spray my beans and yes i have the plasma in the chute. Regardless of declumper this thing has been hyped to overrated. With the amount of time constantly cleaning and the zero point changing (the dial indicator ring ) im fed up. Used a df64 last year and returned that one too fpr the same issues. Df83 and all its siblings are great on paper but in real life is a PITA. Both df64 and df83 jolt on start up, make a huge mess, and for the life of me dont understand why the designers keep the chute oddly rectangular and far away from the dosing cup. Df83 is way too fast for emphasis on coffee clarity and produces way too many fines. So many youtube reviewers should be a bit more honest about the stress this machine causes
