      Logan Ross my ex girlfriend was a schizophrenic with DDNOS and 15 unique alters. Most of which interacted with at some point or another. We ended up breaking up because being several towns away and having to split our time together between 3 of them (I was with more than one) was getting way to hard.

      It probably is one guy. The guy who (claimed) he did a 15 hour speed run, then complained it wasn't long enough. He beat the game but never played it. People that lie about how long it took them to beat the game need to know that will never get you laid. No one cares. RPGs like this got perfected in the early 2000s with Morrowind,Oblivion and F3/NV all we want now is better graphics and more polish,but instead we got over simplified RPG mechanics Micro-transactions and whatever the fuck Fallout 76 is.

      @ 15 hours is only if you rush through it, without much exploring side quests. Even with 25-30 hours it's on the shorter side, but with replayability as a selling point, I think that makes very much sense and is reasonable. Not to mention the several people that said they were very eager to play a new character right again to see how different choices will play out next time.

      There's been a few good games recently and from a good chunk of their review this doesn't really sound like one of them. "Really good" in very few aspects and good in all others doesn't exactly scream passion project. Will have to wait until I can actually play it but so far from what I've seen I'm thinking I'd rather play GreedFall; story, factions, character, game world, lore and combat just seem more fun/complete((?), like what they pointed out about the character background in OW, seems like a half baked trait system along with the factions approvals) to me, but that's not to say there aren't improvements that could be made though.

    • @ZanderTheUnthonkable
      @ZanderTheUnthonkable 5 лет назад +25

      I mean arguably the fact its double A might be a good thing atm.
      The triple A industry has been one catastrophe after another, and lots of people are actually anticipating outer worlds for the fact it isnt yet another triple A trash heap on paper.

      @joshuabillings5108 5 лет назад +10

      Yea CDPR is a good one, Bethesda is pretty much dead at this point and I have little hope for their future games.
      Microsoft isn't really to bad with micro transactions and they seem to leave those up to their developers. I guess the only down side is for Playstation players because futer titles will be Xbox and Windows exclusives

    • @ZanderTheUnthonkable
      @ZanderTheUnthonkable 5 лет назад +1

      @Lúzia A Morta Well i cant say ive kept up as well on that front. But from what i have seen they are attempting a similar aspect but in an aggressive way.
      Projekt Red is trying to actively stand against the current triple A norm, they dont want that idea to be "i think they might be different" they want "its different, and its different because everyone agrees the current system is awful".
      Its an ingenious usage of current gaming politics and will certainly serve their game well sales wise.
      Its kinda like indie devs rejecting epic exclusivity money. Sure you lose the money, but just the fact you took a revolutionary/pro-consumer choice is enough to earn huge amounts of fans/sales/free advertising via news and videos.

      Its kinda like steam and valve. If valve was ever really in danger they could put the number 3 on any of their three main series and watch sales ascend to untold levels.
      Microsoft simarly has the advantage of being...well... Microsoft! They are MASSIVE already, if they drop even like 5 mil hypothetically on a game and it fails miserably, its still just kind of a small poke to the company. Hence they can afford to let companies have more autonomy

    Fudgemuppet RULES!!! "Left me wanting more" was the best thing you could've said to heighten my interest even more than it is. I already figured out that this game has a high potential for series of modular DLC add ons based on the world design. Just DL a whole new moon, planet or entire solar system, find your landing clearance and it's game on all over again in a whole new world. I see near limitless potential there. My primary interest here is the role play aspect and it sounds like Obsidian got that part right. I'm sure that Obsidian will listen to fan critique and respond in kind with updates as we go, unlike BGS who seems to only listen to cash these days. What they've done to my beloved Fallout makes me want to vomit. Apologies for saying that but truth is truth.
    Thank you very, very much for staying on top of this bold new game and for all the awesome content that you mates deliver on the regular here at Fudgemuppet. You always get a like from me guys. For stuff this good there should be a "love it" button! :) lol
    But, let me guess.... I'm hearing Scott and Michael today. So, I'm guessing that Drew is either still glued to the Outer Worlds in some insanely intense marathon play thru trying to break the game or creating yet another of your amazing TES lore videos. Let me know if either guess was right, please. Just my curious nature :)

    Just finished my first playthrough, and I must say I'm very pleased with what Obsidian has done. I won't pretend the game doesn't have flaws, but overall I see in this a real contender in the open world rpg genre. And while, I'm glad they focused mostly on making a great game first and a potential franchise second, it ultimately left me wanting more; if they expand on and delve as deeply into this universe's lore as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout have, I can see The Outer Worlds really going places.
    I'm still determining if it will have the same replay value of something like Skyrim or New Vegas, and though I have some minor gripes with it, The Outer Worlds has proven to me that there IS still room for innovation and passion out there in the gaming industry.

      @eldadmaster 5 лет назад +3

      That's exactly my point, I'm not saying that liking open world games is bad, and even I enjoy them occasionally. But I'm saying that it's very hard to find good ones in this day and age of MTX and loot boxes, in which companies are care more about wasting your time so they can extort money from you for "time savers". Fallout 4 is great and I return to it again and again; Fallout 76 is universally acknowledged as terrible, and not buying it seems like one of my better decisions. We live in an age where open world games are terrible by default, and should be avoided until proven otherwise. A condensed 20-30 hours game is optimal for most RPGs, because developers have trouble producing larger content and have finite resources, especially a double-A developer like Obsidian; the alternative is a game with 20-30 hours of "quality" gameplay and a 100+ hours of walking simulator. For example, HBS Shadowrun games are spectacular; average playthrough is 10-12 hours, but they're chockfull of action, lore and roleplaying, and very open for replayability.

Without listening to conversations, meeting all NPCs, exploring complete dialogue trees, taking time to upgrade weapons and armor for you and your companions, doing all main and side quests, exploring, looting, etc. it seems crazy to me that anyone could play this game fully in 15 hours. I see a lot of people in the comments saying they beat it around that time but just as many or more saying they are way longer into it and aren’t even close to finishing. I’m 90 hours in with plenty to do taking my time. This is a game world I enjoy spending time in.

    so far I've got 19 hours on my main play through, i played around with different starting stats etc before choosing lone wolf stealth and pistols for supernova.
    My main gripe is like what you guys said its not polarizing, the game doesn't naturally flow towards you picking a side. You can be adored by two factions right until you have to fight one for the other. You can easily be godlike at everything with no consequences and the perks and flaws aren't unique enough to create special characters for yourself just by playing the game.
    i think the attribute system is a little strange, the flavour of the attribute doesn't really match with the mechanical effects of choosing it. the big example is intelligence with its critical damage increase for choosing it matched with weapon skills increasing hit chance rather than damage makes intelligence a must have for damage dealing characters not just smarty pants scientists/engineers.
    Even more so when you realise science is the only skill to give you straight up damage increases with plasma, shock and science weapons all while making it cheaper to tinker your equipment for even more damage.
    I've had this sort of off feeling while playing the game, a feeling that if it's slightly off the mark. It has everything i want there it's just arranged in a way that doesn't match up with what it could be, the game is good it just doesn't have that right mix to be perfect.
    I think it would be more enjoyable if you put rules upon yourself and force yourself to stick to a pre-determined character and only take skills and make decisions that fit within your chosen archetype.
    whew. that was longer than i expected.

    It sounds like you guys had unrealistic expectations for this game. They told us waaay off the bat it wasn’t a AAA game, they didn’t have the goods for it. So no fallout or Skyrim-sized servings. Yet you expected them to have a much more in depth system. I think what they had was simple with enough complexity to be very good for its size. Don’t belittle it because of what it lacks. It’s fantastic for what they could afford to put in it. Not a piece wasted. I think this will turn heads for rpgs to come. At least we pray people figure it out.

    My game says I've played 1d 11h 50m and my main quest at the moment is to get the caffeine pills for Nyoka, so I think I've got a lot of the game still left.
    My method is to just explore everywhere I can once I get to a new place, to kill all the enemies out there, loot everything, grind all the XP I can, before going to do any quests, main or side. Then I'll just do whichever quest I think I can knock out fastest, pretty much.
    So... 15 hours to knock it out seems like you were pretty focused on knocking out quests as rapidly as possible. I would imagine most people play it more like I do than like y'all did, so 30-40 hours seems reasonable, to me.

    • @SchulzEricT
      @SchulzEricT 3 года назад +1

      Also, I appreciate the points you make about skill points and perks, but I like that I don't spend hours trying to get to the next level so I can *finally* get my character to level up 10 more times so I can get the perks I think are baseline necessary to be the character I want to be. Them not being things I felt were necessary but more, you know... perks worked for me.
      The whole point of RPGs, to me, is to wipe out all the sidequests, do *everything*, and be OP. I don't know why you'd want to be challenged by the end of it; to me, the process of building your player up from weak to OP is the whole point; if I could only get to a point where everything was merely challenging instead of overwhelming, I'd feel let down, I'd feel like I didn't like my character that much.

    • @SchulzEricT
      @SchulzEricT 3 года назад +1

      Finally, I wasn't a big fan of the companions. I liked Parvati enough, but the others were merely fine. I wish there were more, I wish they were a little less generic.
      Your point about partitioning off some characters depending on your faction is an interesting one; if there were closer to 12 companions rather than just 6, but no one playthrough allowed you to have more than, say, 9 would be interesting. And then maybe the characters - some, at least - may be a bit more firm in their beliefs.

    Even when you said it ended too soon and abruptly just when I'm hungry for more...yep, just like the TV series.
    Having the hold filled with cows (which was a blatant Firefly easter egg) just sealed the deal, and that's how I played the game from that point on; just touring the galaxy sowing equal measures of mayhem and goodness. I know everyone plays different but I am exploring, looting and have not skipped or botched any quests and about to hit 30 hours. I probably still have another 10 hours left at least of the game assuming the last locked planets are very short since I have not unlocked them. Although these guys put in some more hours than other reviewers I think a lot of this get rushed knowing you have to make a video review in a timely manner. This is an amazing game compared to what we got in Fallout 4/76. I came into this game with the slight disappointment of Fallout 4 on mind so this game really satisfied an itch I have had for years for a good standalone single player RPG and treating it as that.

Immediately started a second playthrough with an entirely different build. I really don't understand the mindset of people complaining that a game is "too short" at that length. There are single player adventure games that can be completed in 1/4 the time and there are games that have near infinite replayability like The Binding of Isaac. To characterize this game as too short though, seems like most people who say that aren't all that into RPGs and have no interest in exploring, reading lore, and completing side quests.

There are many map locations that won't appear if you're just sticking to the main quests and fast traveling. If you're not willing to explore in an RPG and only stay near the main quests, it's no wonder the playthrough took you only 11 hours. You basically took a speed run of the main quests. Imagine if you went to a restaurant, complained that they didn't give you enough food as you're paying your bill, yet you left 75% of your meal on the plate? I completed EVERYTHING. It took around 30 hours. But I took my time, so you could probably complete it in about 25 hours. So yeah, well estimated guys 👌🏼

    I love this game. I saw ot for what it is going in. Because obsidian was actually transparent. It was a AA experience, so dont quite expect the most amazing game they arent in conpetition with cyberpunk. But its a very solid rpg that is made by people that care about experience. I'm sure they'll release solid dlcs and updates so the future is bright on top of a solid release. And they capitalized on the state of the gaming market so maybe theor next game will have a AAA budget. Which is why I fully support this game. These are the type of studios that need to stay around

    I'm having a lot of fun playing this game but some of the enemies are hard to kill. Also you can get some really cool weapons to take them out it adds to the fun.

      Art juh because not everyone jumps on the hate Bethesda bandwagon because of 76 most people see it for what it is a online game made to be like eso a place holder till fallout 5 releases most people pay attention when 76 was announced and know that Bethesda isn’t making any future games with online multiplayer star field, elder scrolls 6 , and fallout 5 and so on and as for wolfinstein young blood Bethesda published the game they didn’t make it Id software did and that wasn’t even the team that made the first two games there’s two separate Bethesda game studios and Bethesda soft works one makes games the other publishs the games

      @@artje90 He's just parroting bullshit to keep his hopes up for TES6, everyone knows Bethesda in 2019 is not the same as Bethesda in 2011, TES6 will be a complete and utter failure. The diehard fanboys defend FO76 as an attempt to defend their hopes and dreams about TES6.

    I know the developers have said they plan on adding mod support but does that cover console or is it only PC? I would assume only PC.

    I got around 25 hours and I intentionally left a few things for the eventual replay but I don't think it was worth £50. It's a strong 7/10 for me. Enjoyable, well written, but not an all time classic.

    I could agree that there's as not as much actual role playing than in some of their other games. I think maybe they wanted this one to have a bit more mainstream appeal and see how it did, then their next first person rpg will have more of it. That being said I still had sooo much fun with this game.

    One thing that feels a bit messy is the consumables and their benefits are, for the most part, very very small. Think I've put in around 20 hours or so thus far really digging through all the side quests and such on hard difficulty and I've really never used a single one. There may be instances where they're needed, but I've yet to find any. In the meantime, they just take up space.
