If you're going into places like this may I suggest. Mount at least a 9000 lb winch on the bus or jeep. Get a sand spade, a snatch block and learn how to use them. Watch Casey LaDelle At Cascade Towing You will learn how he rigs for pulling. Good Luck from a former big rig RVer.
Good advice but I have a 12,000 lb winch on our 9400 pound Promaster…and if they are going in soft sand they need a Deadman. And some common sense.
Bernie helping you guys dig was the best 😂😂😂
He’s the goodest boy really is what it is 😂😂😂
I'm 73 so I can tell you that you'll grow out of the 'Freaking out', stage. And now I want that Taco. 'Authentic' Taco's are indeed next level.
Ahhh amazing! I think I’ve already done a lot of progress in the three years we’ve been on the road, but I still panic a little haha. Glad to hear that. It’s so true that authentic tacos are the best
Sand dunes and a school bus seems like a bright idea lol😂😂😂
Done it for three years without a problem 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ it’s a hard packed road if you take the right one :)
Seen Bus Rv Conversions and Class A Rv and toter homes all over the desert 🏜 as long as you stay on Hard pack it's all good you can get stuck in anything I've seen more Trucks Full size suv and full size vans stuck in the desert and dunes than busses or big rv's
@@phoenixarizona8441 yeah, we have a mud/snow setting that actually does so well at getting out of the sand! We have spent about 80% of the last three years driving on sand and this is our first time getting really stuck so I’d say those are pretty good odds
the last place on earth that i would take a bus that big, ???? oh my goodness, who's plan was this ?
8:42 hahaha the dog was so helpful. "He really gave it his all."
He put his back into it. 🥹😭😅
Two hundred and fifty bucks was actually a good deal. I have paid more to get my Jaguars towed.
Ouuu good to know! We thought it was a little steep for Mexico but a lot of people are saying it was a good price. Plus the towing company people were so nice and we made new friends so I guess overall it was a win!
@@bluenose_bus
Definitely a good deal!
They liked you.
Can’t believe we got out honestly
Wow, so happy you are ok. And your dog is the greatest ive never seen a dog 🐕 help dig a bus out. Awesome.
Thank you so much! Haha he’s a very good boy. 🫶🏼
You got off easy paying $247
That’s good to know! We didn’t know what the norm was!
Gordon keeps checking for Bernie now too funny Best Friends 😂
Ahhhhh yes! Bernie didn’t want to leave! I’m so glad Bernie has a friend on the lake!
Yall need to install a winch on your jeep and the bus also carry kinetic ropes.
I had never heard of kinetic ropes until now! Yes I think before going to Baja next year we will get that installed
PLEASE STOP using that flimsy tow rope with the hooks on it. Those things are dangerous. I know you are hearing this from other commenters, but adding good quality recovery gear and learning to use it would much improve your traveling security and adds to the fun!
Suggest adding a winch, such as the Harbor Freight Badlands Apex with synthetic winch line.
Two shovels. One long handled with rectangular blade for reaching well under the bus. Another with pointed blade
A sand anchor is sometimes the only thing when there are no trees to pull to, or other vehicles.
A Yankum recovery rope sized to the vehicle doing the pulling, not to the vehicle being pulled. If you use both the buss and the jeep to pull, that's two ropes.
At least two soft shackles.
If they are not already installed you need recovery points at both ends of both vehicles.
You can learn a great deal about getting unstuck by watching some of these folks using the right gear the right way:
www.youtube.com/@MattsOffRoadRecovery
www.youtube.com/@CaseyLaDelle
www.youtube.com/@trailmater
The very best kinetic recovery ropes are made in Utah by these guys:
www.youtube.com/@YankumRopes
Some of those videos will show you that yes, sometimes a smaller vehicle can get a much bigger and heavier one unstuck. That's using the kinetic rope and using it the right way.
Last comment, search RUclips for "off road recovery". You will find tons of info on using the right gear safely.
:)
I 💯 agree
Why would you take a heavy bus into sand?
We’ve done it for the past three years with no issues. It’s a pretty hard packed road if you stay on the main path. I don’t know why Brendan took a different way out than the one we always take 🤷🏼♀️
Yay I’m excited to watch y’all’s next video!❤😊😊
Thank you so so much! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
I miss baja sur❤
It’s such a spectacular spot! 🥹
You guys are so cool ! GOD BLESS yall in your endeavor . Have fun 🙋🙏
Thank you! 🙏🫶🏼
You did'nt ask but, here it goes...You need to install a minimum 12,000Lbs Winch on your Jeep.
My combo has gotten me unstuck multiple times and the winch is only $325.00usd.
Now that was quite the adventure! 😅 Great video you guys!!
Awww thanks guys!!
Bernie is a beautiful dog love to see him like this
Thank youuuu 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Why drive a 10 ton bus on sandy beach, very silly.
Oups… good thing we’ve been doing it for the past three years with no issues other than now 🤔
Hello!!! I am Carla from the Dallas area.
Wow. Talk about stuck. Glad there was a tow truck to come out. And then--😂😂😂😂
Good luck on your new channel!!
Hi Carla! Thanks for watching! Yuppp we were pretty stuck haha. Thank you so much!
they have these plastic tracks u use when u get stuck,, they work really good.
Yesss! Max trex pads! We’ve heard good things about them for lighter vehicles but they are a little expensive and since we had never really gotten stuck we never bought them! I wonder if they work for a vehicle as heavy as ours! We’ll have to try it one day!
I love Bernie the Bernadoodle
Looks like you two have a lot of fun, but I know it’s not all fun. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much! Yes this lifestyle isint always perfect, but it’s pretty fun every step of the way
Thanks for the tips!
What we do when we’re in a jam is we stop, make a cup of tea and ask ourselves what’s best? Then we act. Don’t lose control of the scene if you can. Do it slowly whatever you do and don’t make things worse.
I’ve made all these mistakes but we’re still on the road in our Promaster. Cheers from Ecuador.
That’s actually such great advice! Thank you!
I don't want to say this will solve all problems but I wonder if they make lockers for the bus. If you lock them together it might be able to get out.
I wonder! That’s such an interesting solution! I’ll look into it. Might be expensive
Welcome. Happy adventures.
Outstanding, can't wait for the next update.
Thank you so much uncle Gab!
Classic Brendan move going full send in the bus and then getting stuck! Glad y’all had this happen in Guerrero vs somewhere more remote. Great editing Sophia!
Jeep attatched and all
He’s always sending it a little too hard hahaha thanks guys!
Just found your video, great editing and well shot video. Look forward to another video in 2 weeks. Might buy a Yankum Rope.
Thank you so much!!! Yes we will definitely look into that!
Wow loved the video!!❤
Thank you for watching!!
Just another day in the adventure no big deal❤
Hahaha stuff happens and you just gotta roll with it 😅
Oh my goodness, glad you guys made it out
Never pull anybody out reverse. It’s the weakest gear in the transmission. You need to kinetic rope when trying to pull out another vehicle and not using a winch using a chain can be deadly years of offing and he taught me that of luck.
Thank you for that info! We pull people out all the time so this is SUPER helpful information!!!
Jesus guys, we still can't believe how STUCK y'all got! Definitely best taco spot in Baja!
Yeahhhh it was no bueno!! 😅 ughhh they were even better after a day like we had!
As a trucker when I seen the dog got out started running and I saw the dog leaving paw prints I said yep that sand is wet. The weight of that bus gone sink, next time dig and if that sand is wet don't park it.
Yess 100% agree. It wasn’t where we were parked, we made sure that was dry. It was on the way out. The path we had gone on in from was underwater because of the tide so we took a different path out and didn’t check it out first. Definitely should have made sure it was hard packed before sending it while also towing the jeep 😭🤷🏼♀️
Wow《☆》I haven't been across the border in 30 years👍🏾🍺🤳$247 sounds like a bargain. I'm surprised at the integrity & lack of Banditos🙏🏼Safe Travels Guys✌🏼😎☯️

Its a good thing you were filming ..
oh how the turned tables

The doggy is awesome so sweet trying to help❤😂😂
I’m so happy you guys got out!! I would have been panicking 😂
I was panicking the entire time and trying to hide it 😅
That's amazing looking there now. Go enjoy tacos 🌮
Bravo you guys, you rock !!!🎉
🫶🏼thanks for watching 🚎
San Ignacio's sweet. OR at least it was 30 years ago. Looks very much like the spot we camped.
It’s a beautiful little town! We loved it!
Love the Fuel swag brandon!
In the past did you let the air out of the tires? This is the first time I have ever seen someone drive that type of vehicle on sand. So glad y’all got out. Especially the tow truck.
Your fur baby was adorable in helping.
Yes, our tires are usually aired down for Baja just because of how many beaches we drive on. Unfortunately this was actually more of a clay/mud under the sand so that’s what we were really stuck in. The bus actually does pretty well aired down on sand! Thank you so much!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼Bernie is the star of the show really 🐶
How nice to discover you 2, we are French Canadian that left Gatineau/ Quebec 2000 with our little dog,to live a new life ( Westfalia 1985 that we still have) we have stop in California and are living in LA area since.

Ahhhh no way! I (Sophia) am also French Canadian! And we both grew up in Ottawa! I used to have sports in Gatineau, what a small world 🌎. That’s amazing! Baja is really incredible we absolutely love it! We were there in 2022 as well but we were yellow at the time. Maybe we crossed paths!

First time viewer. What adventuresome couple. I love the pup. I am old (64) and have ridden my motorcycles over 100,000km in every state in Mexico. The one thing that is certain in Mexico is you cannot swing cat without hitting good tacos.
Woahhhh that’s amazing! I’d love to do mainland Mexico. What did you think of it? And yes the tacos are just so delicious!
@@bluenose_bus I am sure you three will travel the Mexican mainland. The highlands are amazing in the summer, stay above 6000 feet and give that mini split a rest.
BTW: the build out of that bus; solar and energy storage. Well done.
I look forward to following you and maybe running into you. I am an old guy on a Honda Gold Wing.
Amazing video. You guys are a great team I love the build out of the bus. I instantly subscribed. Can’t wait to see more!!!

Hey Bluenosers! I’m also a maritimer from PEI though. I live in Portland Oregon, and am a double leg amputee. I’m approaching retirement, and planning to do a shuttle bus conversion. Would love to see you on the road!
No way!! We actually aren’t maritimers, just avid sailers! But we are Canadian (from ottawa) and we chose the name bluenose because of that! That’s fantastic, you will absolutely love buslife, the community is amazing and the lifestyle is extremely rewarding! We will definitely see you on the road

Hey! We need content.
Wait! I have an idea. Let's drive off-road and get the bus stuck! Look at this shocked face I've been working on (8:05). What do you think?
Awesome! Meryl Streep has got nothing on you!
Traction boards to rear tires lol
You seem to feel safe camping out in Baja on the beach but I hear other stories of how dangerous it is.

Hahah sorry, English is not my first language so when I’m in a stressful situation, I search for my words a lot! 🫶🏼
@@bluenose_bus Thank you, your english is excellent.
Me too
what should a border wall look like? Young and carefree until things happen south of the border and a cartel encounter.
Just expected it to look a little more polished that’s it 🤷🏼♀️. It looks like if you get close you’ll get tetanus. Also this preconception that Mexico is extremely dangerous is mostly only from Americans. Canadians aren’t as worried. We’ve been going alone since we were 20 and everyone has always been lovely. We always make sure to be vigilant (just as much as we do when travelling in the USA)
Okay, that's cute, I'll admit. 8:45

Kinetic rope... yes
You should of charged him 100 bucks to pull tow guy out..
🖐👌
With that rear overhang you shouldn't hit the dirt whatsoever.
BERNIE IS SO SMART AND BEAUTIFUL
it always amazes me why in the hell would you take a vehicle on sand that you know does not want to be there ?
We actually pretty much live on sand with the bus for the past three years and have never had any issues. This was more of a mud like clay/sand and that’s why we got stuck! So I’d say those are pretty good odds :)
You need a bush winch.....
You need a passport you can't just use your driving license
Yes, you do need a passport🛂
ridiculously dramatic!
Thank you!!
When your house is sideways and breaking as it sinks deeper , I’d love to see your reaction :)
@@bluenose_busI’m with you, nobody around and your big house needs some help to get out. Stressful for sure. I’ve been stuck in the sand in Baja and it’s no buano.
Sorry: Those big buses look so nerdy.... I can see them as a Tiny House... but tooling around in them? No. Besides I heard that car repair, or even truck repair shops don't want to touch them - as they don't have lifts big enough.
We’ve never had any issues 🤷🏼♀️ and I’ve actually heard the term badass used more often than nerdy. But… to each their own :)
You've embraced a true adventure in the remote Mexican sand dunes-braving challenges with everything you own in tow!
And im am floating village life
Yeah a lot of Baja is like that you have to be really careful on the roads and the off roads don't be stupid really now if you want really good Mexican food gazaga Bay there's a little hole in the wall across from The Landing Strip it makes the best chile rellenos I've ever had in the world and incredible tacos and I don't remember the name but it was the best also at low tide right next to the landing strip there's a protected area that has oysters and clams so at low tide if you go in there we'll bucket you dig in the sand with a have a rake or a shovel a little shovel you should be able to get a lot of nice little lovely clams and then the oysters are on the rocks so you're going to have to cut them off there's also in the bay Rock scallops about 30 ft down but you need to pry them off the rocks so I recommend a nice big bar like a pry bar or you could do it the easy way take your dive knife stick it in the side of the rock scallop and just pry The Rock Scouts open and take the meat but I rather take the whole show because it's the most prettiest shell you'll ever see and they make great gifts if you take the shells and you stick them and bleach not a lot but bleach were about 2 or 3 days and into the sun and then you need to take a wire brush to the outside and then I use maybe weld to open the shelf and to keep it open and it's a great people love them and soap dishes also the fishing in Baja is really good outstanding actually
Why would you take a heavy buy onto the sand. SMH
If you watch the video you will see that we drive our bus on the sand all the time. And we have driven in these sand dunes for the past 3 years without any issues. We took the wrong way out 🤷🏼♀️ it happens. We could have been more careful and stayed on the hard packed road :)
That tow truck is not a 4x4 as you said!!! And putting the bus in the sand even if you did went somewhere elese Off road is not a bright idea ! You were lucky this time !! And make yourself a favour and get a Yankum Recovery Rope !!
They claim it’s been modified into a 4x4 🤷🏼♀️ also we spend about 80% of our time in the last three years of traveling driving or parking on sand and we’ve never been stuck until now so I’d say those are pretty good odds. Definitely going to look into a better recovery rope/ winch
I quit going down the Baja after 911 . you having any issues , I see you didn't use the Ensenada route, why
We always seem to cross in Mexicali! We feel safe doing it, and since we were coming from Florida, our gps routed us that way :)

And they make money letting strangers watch their home movies.
