I was an active heroin addict for 15 years! I have been sober for 8 years now. I had a daughter and that made me straighten my life out but I also needed something to fill my time with. I moved into a house that's on a pond and decided to try fishing. As soon as I got my first bass I was hooked! My fishing addiction has helped me so much because it takes up a lot of my time. If I'm not on the water I'm watching RUclips or researching new products I wanna purchase . Fishing and my daughter have truly saved my life!
@Stoney Lonsome congrats on your own soberiety brother! My girl works at a half way house herself. I've been thinking of trying to get in the field myself. It's crazy cuz many overdoses and long prison bids didn't stop me from using. Once I found out my girl was pregnant I knew something had to change! At the beginning the sober life was boring to me because I was out of the constant chaos my life was so that's when I knew I needed a hobby to keep my mind busy.
Man that is awesome. You should be proud! Fishing teaches you so much. It is out of love I have to tell you Jesus can give you eternal life. Keep on the right side of the path. God bless you and your daughter.
Chad, this video was wonderful.. you , and the NDyakAngler are the main reasons I just ordered my first fishing kayak last week. The addiction is primal when it comes to fishing. Thanks for teaching me so much about the sport with your videos.
I lived in Clermont for about 6 years. There some amazing waterways to fish down there. Plus you have the Kissimmee chain and the harris chains not far as well the St. Johns river. I miss living down there. Wish I could go back.
Glad i stumbled upon the channel! I use to watch your show on WFN a few years back and I always wanted to get into kayak fishing and i hoping this will he my first year
You're an inspiration Chad with all the kayak fishing videos you've put out over the years. I enjoy them all which have inspired me to up my own game, and film and produce my own. Keep on Kayak Fishin' Forever big guy!
I enjoy watching your videos so much. It's the primary thing I do to pass the time when I'm not fishing. I can truly understand, what you mean by the peace it brings after being in the military. After 10 years in and 3 deployments, it's been my saving grace. You are appreciated! By the way a complete kayak fishing novice, but your video's are extremely educational!
Always been a fishing addict, now a kayak fishing addict and I don’t have one yet. Lol working on it though. Thanks for your videos and tips. You got a another fan onboard.
Kayak fishing is the best and you’re a huge reason why I got into it Chad. Just started my 3rd consecutive KBF monthly Statewide Challenge up here in NH and am having an absolute blast. The competition up here is pretty stout, but competing has really upped my game.Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and being a huge inspiration. Look forward to meeting you someday and shaking your hand or casting a line together. God bless Don
So funny you talk about getting sick after missing a big fish, I went to one of my favorite lake here in FL. (Butler Lake in Union County) I watch all these boats put in and haul tale to other parts of the lake and thought to myself as I was putting my kayak in, no one fishes the areas around the ramp. Third cast I lost a large bass guesstimate 22" 7or8lb wouldn't have my PB but still a nice bass. I did get sick to my stomach and discouraged, I let it get me off my fishing game the rest of the day. Since then I have adopted that theory of at least I know I'm fishing right and in the right places. (KBF Member)
Sadly, around me kayak fishing has become so popular that the waterways are so crowded with kayaks and boats that the one thing I loved--the solitude and peace--no longer exists. It was great for about 3 years... So... I quit kayak fishing and went back to wade fishing and hitting creeks that even a kayak can't get into. Do you get HUGE fish? Nope, but when you get a 13" bass out of a 2 foot deep hole on a creek barely 8 feet across--that's just as wild as a 20" SMB in the river. Back to basics---One rod, One Reel and one small box of tackle. 6' or 6'7' Light or Medium-Light action rod, 4-6 lb test fluorocarbon leader on 10 lb braid. I don't miss kayak fishing at all. I watch kayak videos from time to time like this one, just to see if I miss it, and I don't. Tight lines everyone.
Cool. That’s why there are choices for everyone. I do what you talked about too and it’s great and I just keep searching for places in my kayak that aren’t crowded yet. That’s part of the fun for me.
Gave me good vibes. Addiction is not always a bad thing... especially when it’s good for the soul! The song took me a few to find. It’s called Fade Away by Red Meadow. Thanks for the great video!!

Yeah, I second that, I wanted a fishing kayak a few years ago. Got fishing again this year, and then I saw a few vids of explaining what kayak fishing is to you... I was sold. I’m really trying to figure out what’s best for me. I was sold on the Bonafide ss127 but I heard that it tracks horribly. My other kayak I’m trying to look into is the WS recon 120. I’m 5’6 170lbs. Really lookin to fish standing up and small lakes and some rivers. If you have anymore info to help me out with I would be appreciative. Thanks again

Oh my g_d. You just truly feed my soul with this video !!!!. I have been in central Florida since last October. The Clermont area is pure awesomeness. Getting to see this area via motorhome and peddle boat has been a saving grace for me. I recently lost my mother (she lived in central Florida) and I came here for caring out her will"s wishes. Through the lakes here I have found such peace during an otherwise difficult time. I'm glade you got to experience the lakes here. Truly the Lord G_d always see a fitting way to feed the soul, even in the hardest times of life. Your video of this beautiful place fills me up! Thank you Chad. Below this comment is my first comment to you about this video. Little did I know that I, too, would be experiencing this wonderfully magical place through the passing of my mom. 💞🙌💯👍 ☮️ 🕊️ . Chad Hoover that’s awesome, no wonder you love the water. I was in the Marines for 4 years, did a combat deployment and a MEU on an aircraft carrier (booze cruise).
Chad, I really need some advice. I'm saving up for my first PDL kayak and have narrowed it down to the Native Slayer/Titan or an Old Town topwater. I'm about 260lb so I know the Titan wins that category but the warranty on the OT seems great. Any words of advice? For this kind of money, I want to make the right decision.
The best answer is the one that best suits your needs. I’m not sure that there is that much difference in warranty regardless of what’s published, most companies in this space do the best they can to take care of customers and dealers play a critical role in that process. For your size, I might give the edge to the Titan, but I have also pedaled the Old Town and it’s not a bad boat for guys our size either so it really comes down to price and features and since the price is pretty similar it’s really more about features like seat comfort, rigging options and your opinion on which pedal drive is actually the best.
Hi Chad, I have a Nucanoe Frontier 12 on order (I can still change), having second thoughts. I just read the Nucanoe material is thin, and decking flexes when you stand up. I really want a kayak that is stable where i can stand up easily and fish. I'm 55 years old, 6' 2" and 245 lbs. Should I be looking at something else instead? Also, I chose the Nucanoe because I can easily put a 2.3hp gas motor on it with the flat transom. I'm starting to feel something better may be out there, & your the best guy to ask. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey man. My buddy bought a Nucaneo Frontier 12 and it is thin. I’m a hard core OldTown fan running a Topwater 120. I think you should trust your gut in this. Bonafide SS127 is a fine kayak if you could get one do it. My heart is set on the new Oldtown Sportsman Autopilot 120! Good luck.
I can’t say for sure on the thin part, I’ve heard this recently but I’ve also heard this rumor at one point or another about all fishing kayaks. Here is what I would say, if you have to talk yourself into buying a kayak, you probably shouldn’t. There are just too many options and selections these days to settle for something that doesn’t fit your needs.
I’m on my wife’s RUclips because I dislike the clickity box but I enjoyed your segment. You have a bit of a John C. Reilly vibe. I just got into kayaks but its more fun to learn from people who genuinely dig it.
Just finished my first year with a kayak... I didn't know how important the decision to buy my boat would be. As a husband, father, and business owner, 2020 challenged me to hold to what is reel... Oops... Real ( ; Chad, Thanks for this video. That end montage reminded me of what keeps me centered. Winter here in Iowa is unforgiving, but can't wait for the new water paths spring will reveal!
As a native of So FL, I know exactly what you mean when you talk about the state. Also, was that a Buffett reference when you said you need to “go to see the Voodoo Lady”??
You’ll love it bro! Old Robert field seemed to have a good time ;) Yeah it’s good on the salt here. Not heaps of diversity but access to big fish and lots of them.
Without a doubt I got into kayak fishing to fish places that no one else can get a boat into. Also I can’t afford a real boat since I’m just a football coach. One day when I have 89k followers I may get me a pedal kayak
In this video around the 5:30 mark you said you realized you were using the wrong rod for what you were casting. Have any videos for what rods to use in what situations?
YeS, but they are kind of all over the place. I’m putting a series together now to cover the right rod for the right job for almost any presentation you can think of
Why kayak fishing? 1.) It gets me on the water 2.) I like fishing 3.) Low maintenance 4.) I like to paddle 5.) I can access water that boats cannot 6.) You love it or hate it, it's that simple
Hi... my name is Phil, and I'm a fishing addict... I can't say that I know what other addicts have experienced, but I have no plans to stop fishing even if there's a cure for it... LOL
That’s tough to answer easily. Im working on doing research on this topic right now so that i can answer it better. Testing a few boats to be better informed right after this quarantine is over

Just got a Wildness recon. Any pointers on how to fish out of it! Watch alot of your utube! Thank You!
Bro, not my fishery (New Zealand) but a very entertaining watch. And humours too. Yeah man how you don’t have a stalker I don’t know. Keep it up mate!
Ha!! Thanks. I have fishing in New Zealand on my bucket list!!
You’ll love it bro! Old Robert field seemed to have a good time ;)
Yeah it’s good on the salt here. Not heaps of diversity but access to big fish and lots of them.
Awesome video bro 👊
I have a question for you Chad. How does the micro power pole work on rivers. Assuming not well on faster rivers. How about slow?
Been fishing from a bass hunter 120. Looking to get a wilderness atak 140 or a jackson big rig. Which one should I go with? I weight 240 6'3
Nice to see the pros miss a hook set every now and again 🎣🎣
I just do that for the videos.. 😂😂😂😂
@@ChadHooverFishing I appreciate that 😁
Without a doubt I got into kayak fishing to fish places that no one else can get a boat into. Also I can’t afford a real boat since I’m just a football coach. One day when I have 89k followers I may get me a pedal kayak
One day when I have more than 89K followers I may get one too...
Great video man that’s some good stuff hold on to that rod those aren’t cheap😂keep it up man 👍👊
Thank you!! Ha! You are right
I had a close call, where impact glasses when fishing!
In this video around the 5:30 mark you said you realized you were using the wrong rod for what you were casting. Have any videos for what rods to use in what situations?
YeS, but they are kind of all over the place. I’m putting a series together now to cover the right rod for the right job for almost any presentation you can think of
Nice video. Song at end of video...name and the band?
Not sure, I will find out
I would love to learn more about the sport
As a fairly new kayak angler what setting changes do I need to do to my graph to fully utilize it while kayak fishing?
That’s a broad question. I would honestly say to set things on auto to get started and then dial it in from there

🔥🔥🔥
Why kayak fishing?
1.) It gets me on the water
2.) I like fishing
3.) Low maintenance
4.) I like to paddle
5.) I can access water that boats cannot
6.) You love it or hate it, it's that simple
👊🏻
Nice video!
Hi... my name is Phil, and I'm a fishing addict... I can't say that I know what other addicts have experienced, but I have no plans to stop fishing even if there's a cure for it... LOL
Heck yeah!!
Surprised that you caught a crawdad with that much activity going on in that river.
I’m special like that... Sometimes....
Vibe owes you a commission.
Chad. Which Kaya would you recommend for a beginner. I looking for the best bang for my buck. What you got?
That’s tough to answer easily. Im working on doing research on this topic right now so that i can answer it better. Testing a few boats to be better informed right after this quarantine is over
Thanks Chad. Looking forward to it. What would you say your dream kayak would be?
How do you power your yolotek spoke
What are you going to do to that horse at the hotel room!? @chadhoover
😂😂😂😂
I would like to start kayaking but iam 275 what kayak would you recommend?
Hi, I'm Ubangi, and I'm a fishing addict....
I'm the STALKER ....... MUAHAHAHA...
Ha!! We need to go fishing and shoot a collab
A good stalker is one you don’t know you have.
I have the same body and I can’t figure out why I have no stalkers either!
me too Bro !
Maybe you just haven't noticed an "overly overenthusiastic fan" lurking around?
Oh, I've noticed. :)
Bigfoot spotted at 17:45.
Why don't I have a stalker? LOL
im gonna take my hourse to the hotel room lmfao chad hoover lol
the real question is why not kayak fishing?? The list of reasons why not is much shorter than the list of why.
