Mine joined the club 2 years ago surgery attempting today
Best of luck!
my Seagate Backup Plus 5 TB today joined the club.
mine just make a 1 meter drop and no longer being detected by the pc. and its the first time it ever drop, lame af. mine is the same like yours, 5tb seagate backup plus. you fixed yours yet ?
@@majinboo6377 not yet. I waiting for another drive to have space to copy files. and will try
Sorry to hear :/
Wishing you the best of luck
Thanks for the vid! What's the size of the Torx bit? and the other screw driver? Also, are these sizes universal on the different Seagate models? Im having this problem on my 2022 Seagate Expansion drive. I just don't have these screw drivers
No problem! Usually, its a torx t8 bit to work on the hard drives. They aren't universal on different seagate models, and I had to use the pentalobe 1.5 screwdriver on mine which was hard to find :/
I'd recommend a quick search and order on amazon.
try a smaller flat blade and lock it into two grooves, from there try to unscrew it. it will feel strange, but it works. @@indigosoftware9625
Where you able to recover your data? I have the same problem....
Well mine wasn't as easy as he showed. My head was misaligned, but so were the associated readers.
So really there should be no issues from a disk standpoint, but access is.
Personally, I would just get to the cleanest place possible (with positive air pressure) a small swap them into a working one.
Just becareful and clean.
If you really think about it, CDs used to get stuck inside the book and played in my car fine, usually.
But, I live in MI so it's never that hot.
2 live crew, anyone?
Dropped mine from not even 3 feet and it started beeping! I swear these things are ridiculous! I'm going to attempt it..
SSD is the move if you ask me. I won't go back. Good luck with your attempt, and remember it's extremely fragile!
Same problem happened to me what do i do bro is that can i recover that file
Thank you
You're welcome!
Mine started beeping and not showing up and it's never been dropped (Seagate Backup Plus 4gb). It's been sat on my desk since I bought it and never moved. It's well out of warranty so it looks like I may as well open it up and try this method. Pretty sure it's going to ruin the case in the process but if I can get the drive working again, it'll be worth the sacrifice.
Did it work? Sorry to hear you were having trouble!
Not yet. I managed to get the drive out of the case without damaging the case but I don't have the correct size screwdriver at the moment, so I need to get that sorted before I can proceed.
this is also my issue, it just randomly started beeping and not showing up.
My hard drive has some silver tape connected to it over the screws. What do i do??
You’d need to scratch/peel this off to access the screws
Guys a managed to open it and everything but there is one screw that doesn't want to go out and now it is dull on the inside of you see what I mean and so I cannot open it fully do you guys have an idea ??
It sounds like the screw became stripped unfortunately. This can be a pain, but all we can recommend is to be extremely careful with whatever screw extraction method you decide to use. A soldering kit may be an option.
My almost new Seagate external hard drive gets the beeping and doesn't show up. But it doesn't look like the one in your hand. It has a hard black case with no apparent way to get the case off. So, I guess I'm just stuck with a stuck HD head.
Some cases have a shock absorbing layer on the outside to help prevent damage when on the go. Perhaps your drive has something similar? Otherwise, you may consider sending the drive in if you have critical data.
Best,
Gabe
@@indigosoftware9625 Well, it definitely has a hard exterior. There doesn't seem to be anyway I can get to what's inside. Last sentence understood.
@@criscoleman I had a Seagate fail me recently too. Look around the external case and you can use a flathead to pry the bottom off. Be careful though as this can damage the shell. But you can pry it off. Bonus, if the drive is completely dead you can reuse the connector bit with other drives that DO work.
@@NyxTheNerd Thank you. The drive doesn't appear to be dead; but I can't find anywhere to fit a flathead into. The only hole or depression of any kind that I can find is where the cord plugs in. The cover is like a solid block of plastic.
@@criscoleman I had the same hard drive and it's having the same issue rn, did you find any way to open it?
I'm worried about the dust after opening. I don't have a "clean room" for operations.
This is part of the risk taken when opening a drive. I would recommend professional repairs. In most cases, it should be fine when only open momentarily.
I just sent it in today. I'm afraid of what this is going to cost. Hoping for something in the 3-500 range. Mine dropped too except it was already on the ground, so it was more of a domino fall. I know the importance of backup and I didn't this time.
Good luck! It's usually not cheap unfortunately, but depending on the data.. might be worth it. Wishing you the best.
@indigosoftware9625 I saw a place in LA that starts at 300 capping out at 600-700 depending on if you have a fusion drive or not and obviously a tad more if they provide a backup hard drive and you need it expedited. Majority of the reviews are positive. Might be worth exploring if they come back with something nuts.
@@indigosoftware9625 Completely unrealistic quote for my budget. I found two places that will do it for cheaper (around 800-1000) but it will still be a hardship considering the possibility for a donor drive. Do you happen to have any recommendations to preserve the data as much as possible in case i decide one day to do something?
hey, can you give me the name of the screwdriver you're using? thanks 😢😢
I ordered a kit from amazon that included: P2 P5 P6 Pentalobe Screwdriver
I believe I was using the P6, as well as a torx T5 but yours may be different.
My case is different. I essentially forgot that mine does not fit perfectly, and it hung down and I pulled it out immediately for some reason. It is a laptop. And now it doesn’t seem to power on😢
That's unfortunate :/
Wishing you the best of luck. And as always, a professional repair team would be recommended in this case.
"if you're worried about loosing you data"
i am not, i ordered mine 4tb hdd from reputable store and they sent me one that they dropped (they packed it, package wasn't damaged, but hdd and antistatic bag inside were), and they don't want to accept warranty because it's damaged hahaha
soo, seeing this video gives me hope that i could save my money hahaha
We're wishing you the best!
