For Daenerys, I always thought the Night King would kill her, there was no need for another Mad Queen.

I loved watching Drogon torch all the K Landingers, after all it is just a dumbass show, no one was really torched and as far as the writing goes I think it is on par with the rest of the seasons, some better some worse. I'm hoping in the final show Drogon eats Jon Snow, Drogon was just hungry and Jon walked by, then Arya kills Danny with needle. The Hound survived the fall and flames though a bit burnt. The Hound and Drogon become good friends and fly off together. Every one else seeing this just shrug and go about finding a pub that ain't burnt. Or wait Bran, being a wog, takes control of Drogon and torches Danny and all her army, then he flies Arya and Hound up to Winterhell and leaves Jon to mope around the iron throne, constantly talking to himself and Davos.
I cant stand how D&D explain the characters decisions. "I think" is used all the time when explaining as if they weren't the hacks that wrote exactly how it goes down. Its just a way of them trying to lift the blame off of themselves.

@@whitealliance9540 I get sometimes it is just an excuse but other times like with Martin and Tolkien they detail a lot but it comes a point where stuff is either absolutely useless so having a disagreement about it can fill the space and add to the world, they want to have room to expand further stories, or they simply want to make the world more interesting and realistic rather than have the characters know everything about the entire world during what relates to the late medieval age.

"Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?" that scene makes me cringe. And WTF was Tyrion talking and people listening to him after Greyworm told him to STFU. ?? And why was his head still on his shoulders? To openly defy Dany? she would have cranked up Drogo and Dracarys his ass right in front of there army. I'm sure the Dothraki would have loved to see that.
@joe hawkiins Yeah, the line about story by Tyrion was awful. Especially since they don't need a true story in the first place. Just come up with some crazy background for the new ruler (who could be anyone) and the people would either buy it, or not dare question it. There have been much more serious actions that had no consequences in the series, so what is the worst that could come out of a fabricated backstory for the new ruler?
@@marcos-ll2yr Probably. But if and when he gets there, Bran will actually have a story worth telling. The show ia called GAME of thrones. So who wins the game? Someone who isn’t even a player. So why were we watching?? That’s as if you watch the NBA playoffs and in the end your local high school team gets the trophy.
They followed Arya because they needed a good, convenient reason for Arya to kill Danaerys in the final episode... 🙄 Arya saw innocent people burned alive, so now she's mad and wants to kill Danaerys...😒
You know who the writers "forgot about?" Drogon. He was a character in his own right ever since he was old enough to kill his own food. And his one defining character trait was that he was too much of a handful for Dany. He flew off to brood many times, killed innocent children and goat herds for sport, he actually snapped at Dany when she tried to touch his food once. Seriously, all the signs were there! Instead of having her snap and kill 1 million people while he's a passive tool all of the sudden that does her complete bidding, wouldn't it make more sense if the rampant destruction was initiated by Drogon? You still get the same "spectacle" ending, you still get people blaming Dany for being a destroyer instead of a liberator, but it doesn't throw 10 years of character development out the window. Remember the line, "Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land." Well, I counted three Dragons so the odds say that one of them would be a homicidal maniac. That foreshadowed it from before Drogon was even born!
The dragon was small back then. It didn't listen to dany after a while and it didn't take people's shit. It was just on the way of becoming a wild dragon when dany got attacked and drogon came to the rescue. There, dany rode drogon. Dragons, are not horses. They are deeply rooted to magic. When dany rode drogon, they bonded. And a dragon does anything and I cannot stress this enough, ANYTHING the rider makes them do
A reasonable sacrifice that couldve lead to realistic hate towards dany which in turn could lead to realistic emotion pain for her leading to realistic dark turn. But mo she just kills because bells or whatever.
they did not have to have Dany go from 0-999 in one episode. It could have meant so much and we would have cared had they properly set the damn thing up.
One silver lining: whatever D&D will do from now on, good or bad, they’ll always be remembered as the guys who managed to completely ruin the last season of the most beloved show in television history 😂😂

In short, these didn't appear as fuckups to the audience because people were fully expecting them to be salvaged later on. But I know what you mean and I agree completely, people who still act like 8th season was the only one they screwed up are the kind who wouldn't even notice the terrible writing if their expectations for favorite characters didn't hilariously burst in flames and somebody else didn't point the other blatant bullshit out for them.
It kills me how D&D keep saying "I think she was thinking..." to explain Dany's actions and motivations. They're the writers, not psychoanalysts of some real person they're studying. It's like they didn't watch their own show or read the books because they don't demonstrate any understanding of their characters.
I totally agree that Dany's attack on Euron's ships should have been a night attack, and thank you for concluding by acknowledging how hard everyone worked to create that final season only to have D&D let them down so thoroughly.
Why did the Golden Army stay outside the walls? Why didn't the archers on top of the wall spot the dragon screaming behind them? Why did no one send scouts to Dragonstone? Why did no one spot Euron's fleet? Why did Euron have a limit of 3 100% accurate shots on EP4? Why is Gamora? You can't keep trying to find logic in this episode. You'll only break your heart.
Because thsts how they fight their enemy🙄 Didn‘t you pay attention throughout the last seasons. The plan was to stand the army of desth as long as possible until the NK can be killed. If you have a horse you attack your enemy. And by the way there was never the slightest possibility that the alliance could have beat the army of the dead. The only chance was to lure the NK out of hiding.
I think it's fair to give loads of praise to the crew members who worked their asses off. It looked spectacular, the camera work was beautiful, the special effects were impressive. They should be proud of what they did together. It was the writing that was questionable
I agree it just makes it all the more tragic when probably the best filmed episodes of the series falls so flat emotionally because of the poor writing.
All they had to do is have Dany accidentally blow up all the wildfire caches and be blamed for murdering many innocents after your idea of ‘burning Cersei in the crowd’ ... it was so perfectly set up...
Yea they remembered to have dragon glass blowing up randomly across the city. So many other ideas make more sense than how it actually went down. We'll have her win just because the script says so. Love the part where she knocked down the wall wiping out the Golden Company. It would have been easy to establish the idea that the dragons were good swimmers too, considering that Meereen is right next to the ocean. Imagine Tyrion looking out over the ocean in Meereen, when all of the sudden the water swells up, and up comes Drogon with a huge shark in its mouth.
Plus, it would show that Daenerys beat the Iron Fleet by actually fighting smarter than before, rather than never learning from her mistakes and just being bailed out by plot armor. Thus, her victory would feel a lot more earned.
@@royms2000 They sorta did establish that the dragons were good swimmers back when they were smaller. As they flew along side Dany's ship, they kept diving below the water to catch fish. It's why I think they should've kept Rheagal alive until the final battle. Daenerys could be paranoid about losing another dragon so decides to keep them close at all times, and whilst she's doing hit and runs with Drogon on the fleet at night, Rheagal could be breaching out of the water and sinking whole ships without the danger of being hit by a scorpion. Then Drogon and Daenerys dies during the final fight and Rheagal flees across the sea since he doesn't even have a rider to make him stay or something.

You don't get to discard the main reason for her hatred of Tyrion by letting her die from building collapse because it's symbolic of her falling apart. That's cheap. She believes the prophecy means Tyrion will take her life one day. Cersei should have planted large wildfire caches around the city as a failsafe in case Dany destroys the scorpions. Jamie gets there and Cersei orders all of the wildfire ignited. Jamie can't allow this. Jamie kills Cersei. Seeing his work, Jamie looks lost. He goes to the window where Tommen took his own life. Part of the wall around the window has collapsed, creating a gaping hole that reveals a cloudless sky. Jamie steps into the window and allows himself to fall out. This does accomplishes of things. It's already been in the show actually. Drogon diving to hunt fish when Derpnaerys was sailing some seasons ago (I think on the way to get the unsullied). The writers probably "just sort of forgot". Could be explained away by her not being able to get them to do it on command/them not doing it when they're bigger or that it wouldn't work with her on their back (also an issue for HER to do it were she to ride one underwater) but as usual you just have to excuse it due to the terribad writing. @@Smoothstuffs Literally one of the core aspects of Dany's character in the show was that she wanted to be a good, merciful ruler; better than her father. This changed awfully quick after Sansa was mean to her, Jon didn't put out etc. So the natural continuation of this is, of course, to BBQ the whole of King's Landing to show what a great ruler she is.
@@MrChris-mh2ml There's certainly ways to beat him. While the Night King is extremely powerful, he and his army are still vulnerable to good old fashioned fire. Hold up in a massive fortress, have the Dothraki skirmish his hordes down little by little, and force him to attack in force.

The Mad Queen has obviously always been her character arc in the show and books, and it the only thing D&D have seemed to have kept from the source material. That said, the rushed way that they did it is how they failed. Her madness isn't in the "burn it all" way, but in her megalomania and savior complex.
It was rushed for shock value, pure and simple. Theyre so obsessed with subverting expectations they want no one to be able to see Danys shift coming. They did that by basically making her change rushed and nonsensical. All basically done in one episode.
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. The last episode sort of confirmed that. I'll share my comment here as well since you might give an honest perspective to my thoughts. Also, spoiler alert if you haven't seen it yet. *Watching the last episode I honestly feel like Daenerys and Jon was a good projection of SJW's. Hold up... Let me elaborate... The dialog between Dany and Jon before Dany's last breath feels like she got corrupted by the power of virtue. "The world we need won't be built by men loyal to the world we have." - Utopian worldview. "The world we need is a world of mercy. It has to be." - An agreement that the world needs to be good, but that it doesn't come from picturing what is the "ultimate good". Mercy is what built the West as we know it. It's like an analogy to the ideologies fighting against eachother right now in the West(eros); Collectivist utopianism vs individualism. She want's to be good, as all the SJW's do too, but she's clouded by the fog of her utopia. They also mention things like "stories" when it comes to Bran. (Slightly ironic) But I digress, they crown him to King as he is the "memories" of the past. All-in-all, this season (to me) clearly has a statement, you could argue that the put too much effort into building the archetypal storyline rather than continueing the past seasons formula. However, I think this was a much needed message, even if it's just planting the seed visually and with the last dialogues.*
It would have made more sense if Dany was denying responsibility for burning down a city after accidentally setting off the wildfire caches, because then we know we're still at the dawn of a problem and trying to stop it from getting worse, as opposed to her magically going full evil while we weren't looking.
And yet she always targeted the oppressors or people who threatened her, or threatened her goals... She always defended the oppressed, she delayed going to kings landing to make sure the freed slaves were going to stay free- she did that because caring about people being oppressed and abused mattered more to her than the crown. She locked her children in a sunless prison because they accidentally burned one child. Her children. Drogon escaped but his ass would have been locked in there too... hell, it stunted the growth of the other two for a while- they were far smaller than Drogon was when they got out. As others have pointed out she did hold off on hitting King's Landing to help Winterfell with the dead, yeah- they would have been an issue across the country if Dany hadn't helped- but for a "mad queen" being able to reason that out doesn't hint at insanity- As I wrote in other places... if Cersei had her soldiers round up peasants and keep them around them as human shields thinking Dany wouldn't burn the innocent people- if she filled the red keep to the brim with peasants- which she did do- and Dany killed THOSE innocent people to root out the soldiers and get to Cersei- yes. That I would buy and believe is something she would do. Her having her people kill all the soldiers even though they surrendered I can understand even though I would disagree with it- it would make sense for HER to think getting rid of them to install her own people was the best course of action. Hunting down and destroying the families who supported Robert's Rebellion who don't immediately bend the knee to her and just wiping out entire families to scare others into bowing to her? That makes sense she would go overboard there. I just can't understand how people think Dany, who has spent seasons wanting to protect people who are being crushed by the wheel she wants to break- to free them, was foreshadowed to be someone to burn freakin' peasants down after the city was surrendered and the military threw down their weapons. That was not foreshadowed, the opposite was... and just saying she got that insane in the last episode to swing her so violently into the area opposite of her position for the rest of the show was just lazy writing. I'm not saying it would be impossible to get Dany to the point where she did snap and just kill any and everyone- but the way it was done was just terrible.

And having Dany have to experience all those deaths but being unable to stop it. That would be a great setup for her character
and Drogon is older at this point, and biological determinism is shitty writing
The dragon was small back then. It didn't listen to dany after a while and it didn't take people's shit. It was just on the way of becoming a wild dragon when dany got attacked and drogon came to the rescue.
There, dany rode drogon. Dragons, are not horses. They are deeply rooted to magic. When dany rode drogon, they bonded. And a dragon does anything and I cannot stress this enough, ANYTHING the rider makes them do

… But where did they get those ginormous chains in the middle of the frozen wasteland to begin with? Hmm. ^^"
They could've just sent loads of undead to literally drag the dragon out of the lake. No chains needed.
“The one time they could have used darkness for a plot reason, they choose not to.”
Right?!?!?
Your narration of Cersei’s rewritten death sparked more of an emotional reaction from me than all of season 7 and 8. It’s nearly sickening that some guy on the internet can write a better ending than the two people WHO ARE LITERALLY GETTING PAID MILLIONS TO DO IT!
How to destroy an amazing story in one season. No doubt season 5 to 7 had its flaws but holy hell, season 8 is on another level of trash.
This is the story GRRM gave them to get too. Even the original author himself says his over all plot isn't really going to be different in the books.
@@Xarencey but the journey will be better. no one says they have a problem with danys change, but HOW they did it. Or how varys just died.
fcking white knight
Xarencey Same ending, different journey. GoT thrived on its slow build up and character interactions. Season 8 clearly goes against this rule.
This video sums it up. Season 8 was created to just show action scenes.
Even if the ending on the novels is the same at least it will make sense. There will be a fleshed out complete story behind it. not a money grab and a duty to have to finish the show. D&d know how to film a show/movie but they dont know how to write.
@@Saicofake Did you watch season 7? There was absolutely no character development and the plot just jumped from one battle to the next with little explanation of how troops moved from one city to the next.

Could you imagine if Drogon went all Loch Ness on the fleet?!?! OMG that would have been EPIC!
However there's a huge problem with the water attack, and that's Dany. I don't think she'd last long if Drogon has to keep diving. Plus that tactic wouldn't work against the scorpions up on the wall.
@@eternalreign2313 Even if Dany wasn't on Drogon for that attack, if it was nighttime, it would still make sense that the men on the wall wouldn't be able to spot a black dragon in dark waters.

No, Cersei MUST die in a way that satisfies the Valonqar prophecy.
It fulfills the Valonqar prophecy, it completes the Mad Queen plotline with the ACTUAL Mad Queen, Jamie's death is a callback to when he pushed Bran out of the window AND it mirrors the death of his own son.
There. Cersei is dead and Jamie is dead, Mad Queen realized and prophecy fulfilled!
@@sirf4ce yea, but there was no mention of Valonquar in the series. So the way he proposed works fine. Sercei dying alone, completely powerless, crying and calling for Jaime. Even if she did get "mad" and ruthless, what good does burning the city do to her?
She had already won the war!
What kind of power hungry person destroys her conquered city and spoils of war?
She wanted to kill Cersei but instead killed Innocents and let Cersei die of "collateral" damage?

The Mad Queen has obviously always been her character arc in the show and books, and it the only thing D&D have seemed to have kept from the source material.

As others have pointed out she did hold off on hitting King's Landing to help Winterfell with the dead, yeah- they would have been an issue across the country if Dany hadn't helped- but for a "mad queen" being able to reason that out doesn't hint at insanity-
As I wrote in other places... if Cersei had her soldiers round up peasants and keep them around them as human shields thinking Dany wouldn't burn the innocent people- if she filled the red keep to the brim with peasants- which she did do- and Dany killed THOSE innocent people to root out the soldiers and get to Cersei- yes.
The ultra quick descent into madness was the lamest TV writing in years.
RMosack, I mean same, they could’ve make her descent into madness, but step by step??? Like that’s what I really call a piss poor writing 😂🤣
Damn right.. I wish this season never existed
Let’s see if this can also go viral and pick up another 1,000,000 views.
Because sadly we live in a world where trolling and going viral is more important than being honest.
For what purpose? I’ve got bad news for you....HBO doesn’t give a shit that you hate Season 8 and they aren’t going to reshoot it, so why don’t you all find something productive to do with your lives.
@@krollscott34 The 1 million signatures were the most honest thing in game of thrones last few years
Brian Jungen it’s about sending a message that we aren’t subservient to mediocracy laziness and trash.
The Boy they don’t care. They’ve never cared what you think or want and never will.
The best thing to happen from this shitshow of a season is getting see people put forth alternative episode plots. It's great research and inspiration for writing an ACTUALLY COHERENT narrative!
Or not. He screams at a screen alone in his room. Literally the same mood over and over.
I would've liked if Cersei came face to face with Ellaria under the castle (reminder that Ellaria was probably still alive watching Tyene rot). It would've been cool to see her confronted to the horrible things she has done and realizing it was all for nothing
They should have had Eurion's fleet covered by a mist. Accuracy -25%
Yeah, the same way that phantom blizzard came when they were fighting the Wights and night walkers at Winterfell.
night time, -%75 to spotting
That actually makes sense since Drogon could have used fire breath (super effective) to boil some of the water in King's bay to create mist. :)
I really enjoy these way more than the actual season :(
Comparing the prequels to this disaster:
It's treason, then.
right! :)
