I love this car, but an active lifestyle car with such low mileage doesn’t make any sense to me

Same here, I like simple and spacious cars with the possibility to go camping, or getting large stuff in the car, and still being able to have extra family members when necessary. Long distance to visit family always end-up having frequent stops but I'm not quite sure if the range and recharge time will match the frequency and the duration of our stops on the highways.
A Hybrid would have been preferable, or I need to budget an extra small diesel generator. :/

Actually makes a lot of sense for me, need a 7 seater for 3 kids, but my lifestyle is pretty urban. City driving mostly so an electric vehicle with the capacity and a shorter range is perfectly fine.

Bought one of these Yolks last year Max I got was 165 miles out of a full charge TRULY BRUTAL Sold it after 6 months and bought a Diesel Tiguan

The lack of range is the killer on this one. It rather limits it's use to the local school run and shopping. It would be useless to go touring in either in this country or abroad.

agreed - and having owned three Citroen Berlingos over the years (my brother-in-law had 4), this is not fit for why the bought the other 7. Citroen/Peugeot just lost one of their most successful markets.

I do the abroad trips in a Renault traffic and find myself stopping every 3 hours. This looks like it can do 80% charge in a typical stop.

    Great view Nicola!
I am tempted, but the range is just terrible. In 2022 less than 200 miles isn't good enough!

  • @andrewmorgan7871

I LOVE the Rifter and WANT one... BUT... wouldn't possibly spend such a huge sum on a vehicle designed for family outings that had such a limited range!!!
In winter it'd be like driving a petrol engined Rifter that had a 10 litre fuel tank filled via a pipe only 1mm wide!!! Half-hour breaks every 100 or so miles??? RIDICULOUS
This car DEFINITELY needs a much larger battery. Whatever were Ciroen/Peugeot/Vauxhall thinking?????
If the price were cut in half... I STILL wouldn't consider buying one!!!

Fantastic review. Love your style and humour. I'm looking at getting one for a company car when they add it to the list. The huge boot and 3 "proper" seats in the back are especially appealing as I've got 3 teenage brats, none of whom like siting in the middle on the half seat of my Kadjar.

Picked the "new" Rifter from 2024 as my company car. Biggest change is that it has longer range, which is very welcome. Delivery is set for December, I'm quite looking forward to it.

Great and Enthusiastic review from Nicola, my mother in law recently took delivery of a Rifter which has been adapted to carry a wheel chair for my father in law and still plenty of space to take the two grandkids to the park, not seen it yet but I do want to have a look around one as it seems to get very good reviews.

  • @anthonystevens8683

A cracking review Nicola, I had to laugh at the homage pose with the foot on the tyre for the "subscribe and like" intro, very vintage Clarkson. Oddly I quite like it, no scrub that, I would consider this car for a purchase. That practicality is brilliant. It's also multi purpose as well with all those windows as you can grow some tomato plants (other plants are available) while your charging if you only have a 3 pin plug available (a sunroof would be recommended for best results). If working charge points were more plentiful it could well be on my test drive list for when I decide to change my car. With todays traffic it's harder to drive worth a modicum of spirit so driving something that handles like a drunk mattress would be a non issue in my daily life.

they cheaped out on a 50kwh battery, the MG suv has a 70kwh battery and a range of 280 miles WLTP(250-ish real world, but more than 300 if only town driving...) and i would hazzard a guess that the MG is better equipped and has a better quality interior.. there's no reason why this van hasn't got an 80kwh battery, its big enough... but typically psa, they want BMW cash for Dacia spec..

I live in Somerset with one son in Kent, the other in London. The extra time to (find a working/available) charger mid-journey, plus the additional time having stop rules these cars out for me. And I've owned 3 previously. My brother-in-law lives in Devon, his daughter lives in Surrey, his son in York. Plus now that he and his wife are retired and like to tour the country - he could never buy one either - having bought 4 Berlingos previously.
Citroen / Peugeot / Vauxhall just killed their own market by not bringing this out as a hybrid.
