This is a huge nostalgia trip to my late teens and early twenties. I used to get back from a night out and me and my friends would fire up the PS1 and spend hours racing these cars. At the time it seemed graphics and racing games had peaked and they were photorealistic, seems laughable looking at it now compared to gt7. Thanks for the guide to install and thanks for another great video. I look forward to meeting your new mic stand in the new year, I hope it’s less likely to attack you. Happy Christmas & Happy New Year overtakers! 🎉
History moment incoming, 1, 2, 3, and... 3:49 Actually, the game was released with a guide booklet inside the CD case. Back then it was a common industry practice to include instruction booklets within the CD/cartridge case. A lot of games back in those days didn't have in-game tutorials. This brought back fond memories. I was unaware so many vehicles were omitted from the original release! Thank you for all this information...I might just look to get this on my PC to play again.
Also one of the discs smelled like burn rubber if you scratched the disc. I remember it smelling something when I did that. I didn't really know what burnt rubber smelled like at the time so I can't verify it.
They didn’t just plunk you into the game when you bought it back when it was released. Games used to come with this thing called a manual. It would explain aspects of the game and how to play it.
Agreed. I miss those manuals. I mean it's not a big deal these days anyway, considering the Internet can baby you with any kind of issues you're having.... as well as complete walkthroughs if you so choose.
Ive been playing GT2 since it came out. Its great to see DuckStation and modders making it in many ways better than ever, and its great to not have to be reliant on original hardware.
I had a lot of fun with the extra cars in this game! And the addition of Metallica's fuel onto the soundtrack is icing on the cake! Best music for automobile racing! I am hoping for even more cars to be added into this ambitious mod project!
I've only played the first 4 games, but GT2 is my favorite. I've really been enjoying Emily's playthrough and hopefully she can 98.20% it soon! I'll probably dust my copy off and enjoy the pixelated goodness! Oh, great job leaving the mic stand fall in!
I still have the two memory cards I used when I was a teenager when I completed everything you can do in the game, realized you couldn't have every car in your garage at once and immediately copied my save onto another memory card so I could sell all the cars I had and replace them with other cars and cars with other versions of racing modifications.
you could 100% the pal vers. but you had to win the vauxhaul tigra race then change the language to german so it was called opel then win the race a 2nd time
If u have the Greatest Hits edition of the game and a save from playing the initial launch version and load that save and go into Simulation Mode and go to Status, u will see that it's 100% completion if u previously swore u completed each and every event from the launch version.
GT1 and GT2 are my time, but you weren't done wrong by GT4. I bought it from Harvey Norman on release day and took time off work to play it. All my friends had it too. GT4 has such a great career mode and was probably the first real "hard" physics game where simulation gamers need to be careful what they wish for! Agree GT2 has not aged well. I loved it at the time but gee it's hard to go back. Glad you enjoyed it!
In the PAL version, you could in fact get over 100% completion by switching languages and doing an event only available in the Opel/Vauxhall dealership (they would appear/disappear based on the language).
This game looks amazing running on my grandmother‘s 2008 Dell desktop PC!!! Fully smoothed out polygon car models, as well as 16:9 aspect ratio and 1080p!! I imagine if you’re planned on a beefy PC today you can make it look even better?!?!
Time certainly flies way too fast the older you get - the release date of this sequel was more or less exactly 3 years past I finished 5 years of engineering studies. So hearing analysis from a respectable sim content YT'er describe it as "from before her time" makes me feel like a stoneage man 🧔🙉🙈😅 By that time it had already been 20 years since I had last played a console. However, I tried the new PS3 on a visit to my wife's step family in Southern Italy back in 2006 and a kid who had just installed Gran Tourismo 4 and lured me into some gamepad gaming, even though I was already a "PC sim purist", I enjoyed GT4 as much as the PC arcade game "NFS: Porsche 2000". In any case, I was stimulated by watcing this vid. Now I'm just wondering how I can scavenge more junk for myself in the family garage, now that the wife wants me to throw away 90% of my glorious hardware heritage, since I observed a tempting offer for a PS2 in the local version of Amazon. Thanks for the walkthrough, keep it up ❤
This is a dream come true for me as well. This game goes back to my childhood in 2000. I cannot wait to try this. They got the Lister Storm specs right too hope it is the same with the XJ220 Race Car as well. I hope one does a GT3 mod that fixes the Panoz Esperante GTR-1 weight and chassis among other cars. Great video.
I remember spending way too much time in my senior year of high school playing the hell out of this game probably at a detriment to my grades. The NTSC/US version also had an excellent soundtrack - Garbage was the star in my opinion, but there were plenty of good songs on it from Foo Fighters, the Cardigans, Rob Zombie, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.
I don't remember rubber banding... I know opponents were given extra horsepower to compensate for being bad drivers because PS1 didn't have AI so they just used one preprogrammed strategy and sometimes they'd get knocked off course in a way that they just got stuck and couldn't find their way back on course but I don't recall rubber banding... maybe it's just been too long.
If you’re looking for some other old-school PS1 games that are really fun as far as racing goes: Colin McRae Rally Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit Need For Speed 4 High Stakes Rage Racer (Better than R4 imo) Racing lagoon Initial D Test Drive games give or take? Some these were the absolute best racing games that they PlayStation 1 had to offer in addition to Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo2!
As far as Percentages go in PS1 games, this was kind of normal. You'd could only get to 98.2% completion in GT2, meanwhile in CastleVania:SOTN, you could get 200.6% without glitches, or 425.4% with them. It was like every PS1 game was afraid of using a rounded number like "100", for total completion.
I’ve never noticed any “rubberbanding” in Gran Turismo2?! Granted, the AI that you race against in races is not the best, but once you get out ahead of them, they’re not catching you!! it wasn’t like arcade titles from the past like need for speed and test drive where even if the CPU were in a slower, lower powered car, they would still catch you due to the rubber banding… In Gran Turismo this doesn’t happen- at least not that I’ve noticed and I was 15 years old when this game came out in 1999, which makes me yes, almost 40 now!! I have acquired all gold and every Gran Turismo up to the newest one and I do not have a PS five yet so I’ve not even played GT7… Hopefully I can get another force feedback raising will eventually, but until then I’m happy being able to play GT two on my PS Vita.!
Ah childhood memories.... WAIT, I was 33 when this came out!
I´d still count that as childhood xD
That means you’re nearly 60 years old now!
@@MonkeyBall2453 and still gaming!
I was 20.

I miss having physical manuals for games.

Ahh the manual books. Nothing is more authentic than having the manuals back in PS1 and PS2 era. Still have a platinum copy of original copy of GT2.

My single most favourite bug (sadly patched) was them mismatching Tacoma PP's specs on the Caldina. So you had a 1k hp caldina

The Gran Turismo series is the greatest racing video game series of all time.
Just got this mod and it is absolutely elite. Best thing to happen to GT in years
Nice little touch about this mod since just starting to play it is got some sick 90's songs on the sountrack like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Rage, etc.

Great to see someone takes a look at this classic game

The GTA 4 Spec II mod is very good as well.
I've played through GT2 like 15 times. Got all golds and 100% like 12 of those playthroughs.

A mix between this and Gran Turismo 2 Plus can be cool
Suddenly i want to start playing GT2 again
Since i lost my old save game i kinda lost the drive to play it again, but now i have a reason to replay it
This is a dream come true for me as well.
It didn't work, Xdelta patched it as a .1 archive and Duckstation can't read it.
What should I do?
You’re amazing!!
Bringing back memories. ❤

Nice video!
Is there a guide on how to install this mod on android? I have GT2 running on duckstation.
Just make the patch on pc then put the new patched rom on your android from your pc.
One more comment sorry. The Nismo 400R and Nismo 400R Preceding Models were both in GT2 at least the NTSC U/C version.

so i need to have x delta?
I’m running this on my psp. 😊
can anyone help, when set to widescreen 16:9 i get flickering on the left and right of the screen, should I just stick with 4:3?
No links to any of these things? Is the mod really only available on Discord?
Really want to try this ., but seems so complicated to load it all in :/
how do you open the exdelta file? When i try to open it will say select a app to open this file.
I have installed this mod on my ps4 jailbreak. But how to get all the cars and licences unlocked?
Lol you're a bit too cute, even if you are an Ozzie :D kiwi here
If you’re looking for some other old-school PS1 games that are really fun as far as racing goes:
Colin McRae Rally
Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit
Need For Speed 4 High Stakes
Rage Racer (Better than R4 imo)
Racing lagoon
Initial D
Test Drive games give or take?
Some these were the absolute best racing games that they PlayStation 1 had to offer in addition to Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo2!
Have you tried it with a modern steering wheel? It's possible :)

Maybe, but it definitely wasn't intentional in the case of GT2, as that bug is fixed in later versions.
I’ve never noticed any “rubberbanding” in Gran Turismo2?!

Also, and I feel bad for saying this, Emily only has one i in her name. 😂
And without having all gold licenses
