Matt, i have to say thank you, if it wasn't for your old gran turismo secret cars videos i would never have found out about gran turismo's cut content and by extension the modding community, without it i would never have been part of the development of the mod, and to see you talk about it is like a dream come true.
Hi Nathan, Wow, I never knew I was the reason for your interest in GT's cut content! Man, to think back at those old videos I used to make... I like to think I've improved the quality of my content since then! Thanks again for the early access. :)
@@MattJ155the total car counts in GT2 PROJECT A SPEC MOD i think has increased from 650 to 768 especially with Renault Sport Spider and Spider Super GT300 Car.
Glad to see more content creators are getting their hands on the A-Spec mod. I did a video on it myself (an earlier build compared to the one you showed off here) where I went into more detail about many of the brand new vehicles. Looking forward to the mod upon its release to the public. :)
Hi Thunder! Thanks for letting me know, I'll check your video out. I'd seen a video on the mod from RandomCarGuy already, which was an in-depth look at the mod, so I thought there was no point doing the same thing. Therefore, I decided to reflect on my experience of playing the mod for an initial week.
@ThunderTHR, which are your favourite cars in Gran Turismo 2 original and A Spec Mod? For me: Plymouth Fury 1958, Sintura S99 LMGT1 (from Total Immersion Racing), Tacoma PPV (from DiRT 1), Renault Sport Spider Super GT300, Alfa Romeo Tipo 333T2, Renault Alpine A442B, and Mazda 767B.
9:16 The only thing I ever wanted in GT2 was the blue and white stripes colour for stock Viper. You can even see the colour scheme in the opening movie and the 1 make race concept art, yet you couldn't get it on the actual car! My kid self was so peeved about that back in the day.
Matt, your presentation on Project A-Spec has been amazing to watch, I love how streamlined it is where you are direct on what the changes are. It inspires me to continue improving my own work in the future.
Wish Gran Turismo 7 also have Mini Cooper R50, Daihatsu Kopen Concept, Nissan R32GTS-M BP HIRANO Super GT300, Eimei Auto Mirage Super GT300, and Plymouth Fury 1958.😢
I loved your presentation of Project A-Spec, Matt! As someone who grew up with GT2 during my childhood, I can't put into words how excited I am to play this mod! I can only imagine how much more content this mod is going to have when it's done than it already has as you showcased. I'm most excited to drive all the new cars, especially the text-string only demo cars like the Renault Sport Spider, JLOC Diablo GT-1 '99, SOK Mclaren F1 GTR '99, STP Taisan Porsche GT3R '99, Mercedes C-Class DTM '95, etc.
10:22 The Pulsar VZ-R N1 has always been in the game, it was just missing the livery before. The GT2 Plus mod also adds this variant as effectively a "special color" model.
@@purwantiallan5089 They nerfed the GT300 and GT500 power outputs so it'll be too fast for that. Would be fun for the World Championship though, or if they make a Historic Racing Car Cup.
I am so excited to see this mod being released. I hope I can fix up my PS2 and pick up 1-4 to play them out before the mod drops. This looks like a decent play through I can enjoy again and again.
Setsuna Yuki also replayed the Gran Turismo 2 Playthrough for more like 36 times. Gran Turismo 2 both on Original and A Spec Mods are absolutely GOATED.
Speaking of special models. One model I would have loved to see in a game is the Mk.2 VW Golf G60 Limited. It was the fastest production Golf in the early 90's, and it held that title until the R32 was released some 12 or 13 years later. It had the 1.8 liter 16-valve engine from the GTI 16v, with a supercharger added onto it, producing 210 horsepower, combined with a Syncro 4WD system. This little bugger was fast, with all of this performance packed into the lightweight platform of the Mk.2 Golf (weighing in at around 1100 kilograms).
In this mod, you can make a racing modification for racing cars. For example, for BMW V12 LMS, you can make a racing modification and get a livery that glows during night races, or For Cerumo cdmaOne Supra '98, make a racing modification and get a '99 body. The same can be done for Esso Tiger Supra, Nissan R390 GT1 Race car and others.
God I would be so happy if they did this for gt3. My favorite gt game by far. And it’s because of the simplicity layout and the amazing track selection. (Gt4s menus feel overly cluttered and the camera angle change in third person is off putting)
It makes me reflect on the world of cinema... Some films were successful in their time only to discover that they have aged very poorly... And vice versa; I think GT2 belongs to this second category, overshadowed by the aesthetics of GT3. This mod testifies to its rebirth after 24 years, when much more useful would have been an A Spec "plus" version of GT3 which should have more properly been released as a "prologue" as was done with GT4. I'm happy that "time" , as we say in Italy, "is a gentleman".
i love how i get into project forza plus, and then this mod dropped the other day, with concept and spec II mod over the horizon, there is gonna be a lot in the way of digital driving for me to do
I do love the idea of GT2 being expanded upon and some of the unique vehicles that were once cut now get to see the light and can be enjoyed by players along with new additions. But one big question I have Matt is how does this A spec mod work? Is it a hot swap or new game disc?
Pretty keen for this mod. Blue and white stripes for the viper alone makes it worth it. My only criticism is that the new car models are a bit inconsistent. Some are really good and look like they were in GT2 all along e.g. the Oxia, F1 & V12LMR. While others look noticeably rougher with awkward proportions and low detail, Like the R50 Mini & HSR. That HSR model is particularly bad, it looks like something out of Roblox. I think the good looking additions outweigh the bad ones though, and they might see some revisions before release.
WTH? People are not just playing GT2 but creating mods for it in 2023? Am I in 2023 now? I learned about the mod from a random comment on YT. I would love to play this mod 20 years ago
Crazy how the creator of the Gran Turismo franchise never released the GT games on PC because he didn't want the game to be ruined by mods but years later here we are now, where people have begun creating mods for the GT games..... 😂😂😂

Shioriko Mifune's Mazda 767B, Ayumu Uehara's Sintura S99 LMGT1, Renault Alpine A442B and Renault Sport Spider SUPER GT300 cars are amazing to drive in Project A Spec Mod.
Gt2’s main problem wasn’t lack of cars but poor track progression and underused tracks. Changing tracks around and adding some new endurance races (Rome night is perfect for that) make more sense.
I remember that there was going to be Front Wheel Drive version of the Drag Cars, I also know nothing exists of Drag Mode as it was a thing in early testing. We have the 180SX Drag which is FR We have the R33 Drag which is AWD IIRC their was going to be a Drag version of the Celica as well, which would've added the FF version as evidence of HKS Drag Celica was found in some text strings on the beta game

that is just pure awesome work. it well could be the blueprint on how to preserve games when people know and love them. new cars are extra cool for enthusiasts, but adding new events? enabling new cars for ai to drive and fixing the imperfect event balance? thats just magical. and adding to it, GT2 tech-wise is now so beautifully revamped - 4k is just basic emulation, but perspective corrected textures? 60fps enabled for whole game? Way better Level of Detail on textures and reduced texture poppin due to ENABLING ORIGINAL DEVKIT SPECS (ie double the ram)??? without any official support? Thats just perfect way of restoration that so many PlayStation 1 games would benefit so much from. Putting into perspective, KONAMI just released MGS Master Collection, that costs 70$ with ZERO effort to make the games nicer, they actually worse versions than originals. People doing this GT mod deserve that money, and some.

As the director of this mod, I have a couple things to explain. Mainly the reason for the varying model quality. There are a couple of people in the dev team and outside of it that work on models, some more experienced than others. Believe me, with how inconsistent GT2 is with it's models, doing accurate models is no easy job. Most of us don't have much free time now that we had before. Hope you understand.

As for the 037 issue, it probably may be due to the fact that the JGTC Supra's are low profile as is, making some cars (like the 037) larger. The 037's higher ground clearance may also explain the problem.
