At that price one does have to wonder what Mattel is thinking. I am sure that there are Street Sharks fans out there willing to get these and I am happy for those collectors. But if this is Mattel testing the waters for a relaunch or to see if there is interest for a new line, it feels off. It is like they know the collector market is there, but they are really overestimating the fan dedication.
100%. I would love to get these. But no way. Not at that price point. This absurd price is gonna kill the line.
Yeah $75 bucks a whack is ALOT for something that size and not very articulated.
Welcome to the world of art toys. At least when Sofubi does it they have the excuse of generally being created by a single person and made in small runs. When you have a massive company behind it, it really doesn't make sense.
I like how honest Dan was about this. Even if it was super articulated and packed with a ton of accessories we would still be talking about the price.
I hope all the street sharks come in, along with the villians and the other characters. I do not count Dino Vengers, but it would be cool if Extreme Dinosaurs returned as well. How would all that seem?
Wow!! People complain about Super 7 prices they will go crazy about these prices!!
Super 7 will rip you off with there poor quality control.
@@jonathanlupfer5262 nah. I love there stuff. Never had an issue. This Mattel stuff is a rip off
@@caveman_reviews Than honestly you haven't dabbled with Super 7 as much as I have. Getting toys that have flaws and don't live up to the price point will definitely sour your mood.
I guess not. I've gotten all there Turtles, thundercats, Conan, voltron and toxic ultimates that have come out so far. Plus crap load of their reaction.
@@jonathanlupfer5262s uper 7 stuff has joints
For the amount of stuff Super 7 is packing into their Ultimate TMNT line at $50-$55 a pop, there is no way these should be $75 per figure unless they are extremely limited run. I can't understand how they get to that as the retail price. I'd love them, but they crossed that affordability/justifiability line for me. No way.
Agree. Super 7 price would be fair.
If they added more articulation and accessories. But this figure even lacks that. Its very hard to compare this to S7's Ultimate line for that reason. Hasbro's RED line of Transformers even have a ton of accessories and articulation-and they're 20 dollars. These figures are closer to Hasbro's Titan line...12 inch tall limited articulation, limited accessories...and those are 10 dollars. I love the idea of bringing back Street Sharks. But they should have done a reboot or relaunch, maybe make them compatible with their origins line so they could cross sell them to the MOTU crowd. This was the wrong way to do this.
@@sirbenjaminpin1977 Yeah, I'm legit at a loss how Mattel came to this decision as the way to go. And I honestly cannot understand the price point, even with inflation and the cost of plastic and paint apps and everything. $75 doesn't make sense at all.
These seem really nice, but that $75 seems absolutely, unreasonably insane.
As a 90's kid...i love street sharks xD
The packaging is nice, but it's strange they didn't take any inspiration from the original toys. The boxes with the plastic jail bars were a big draw. I still remember the first time I saw them stacked up in kmart. also, $75 is wack.
Mattel should be ashamed of themselves for charging 75 dollars for a figure.
$75 gets me a Castle Grayskull Origins and the Sorceress. Not sure this is worth $75.
$75? Brian (Super7) must have told them how to price (overcharge) with cheap packaging and call it 'exclusive'!
This is the biggest misfire I’ve ever seen. This should’ve been so simple. Make the OG characters with updated articulation and detail
You say that...but they sold out basically immediately
Crash and burn. An origins line mass retail line with vehicles like origins would fly off the shelves for collectors and kids.
Oyster shell, on a clam? Dan, you're killing me today, man.... heh
Yikes, that price is what I would expect for a “premium” figure. The designs are cool but they are by no means premium.
I really hope they do more street sharks figures.
FINALLY THEY ARE BACK!
I had hoped they (Mattel) would do a re-vamp of the entire Street Sharks line. Make them compatible with Origins-complete with removeable body parts for customization. At least the line would cross sell with the MOTU fans-much like the Wrestling/MOTU cross over figures did.
Man this would be so sweet. What I was hoping it was gonna be. Just started buying origins figs and love how much fun they are with easy customization. Has renewed my interest in toys.
timmy:mom i want street sharks
mom: we have street sharks at home
Clambo/Clamando looks fantastic. Being based on concept art makes for some odd colour choices but the figure fits perfectly with the original 94' line. He will be just like Killamari, as the original toy never matched the cartoon version.
I'm real glad the articulation matches the original line also, plus the bendyness matches figures like Slash to a tee.
But as for the other two Ripley/Ripster and Karkass/Pirahnoid, they are a cool bit of history but really don't fit and I'm not sure how many diehard SS fans would even want them (let alone wanted them at all) especially at that price, because $75 is crazy. Plus the box should have been the original cage design hands down. Overall Clambo is great but the price is just wrong.
100% agree!
Thanks for being honest unlike ToyShiz
Edit: Sorry, ToyShill
They'll relaunch Street Sharks when they lose the MOTU license.
$75 is insane
Now we need some Mattel Creations Mighty Max!
Cool review, Dan! Definitely agree about the price point being a major problem. Only hardcore fans with a lot of bank are going to plop down the money for this one.
I hope we get bootlegs of these. 75 is silly but there are still lots of fomo collectors out there.
I’m torn. I do appreciate they made figures off concept art. Wish the playmates tmnt line would do this; spellcaster splinter and etc. the packaging killer.. the figures is a lil lackluster but looks to be the same quality as the original 90 figures, so they are staying true to the original line. At 75.00 a pop is hard to swallow. I may purchase just one.. god help me
They look more like Sofubi vinyl statues than Street Shark toys.
I agree. I have to imagine that’s the point too. And why they included the bag and hang tag.
@@NA-bk6gb yeah I agree. It’s a strange choice not to market them as vinyls. I imagine that would have been received better.
@@stuffmadebyalex totally agree. These seem to exist between several lanes: Sofubi and art toys. And also the standard Street Shark. Sadly the way they presented these, they don’t really target either audience imo
I just spat out my Dr. Pepper laughing. Never thought I'd see "Street Sharks" again
Sofubi (Which is actually pronounced "So-Fu-Be" not "Sof-Ube" ) often comes in plastic bags with header cards. I think thats why they gave you a bag and header card in the package, since many sofubi collectors also collect the headers.
Love the enthusiasm and this figure!
Am I the only one who thinks it’s wierd that the biggest heman fan on youtube , pixel Dan, for last 20 years !! Is not saying one word about the revelations cartoon ?
I like how they *look.* And that's where the good will stops. Especially that price...no.
$75.
Glorified statues.
Based on concept art for a series that has been dormant for decades.
Concept art with a completely different aesthetic.
That is a bit much, man. These are cool and all but that is import tier money.
Agreed with everything you said. Especially the $75 price point. NO WAY!
STREET SHA-....you had me on the first half, not gonna lie
There's no sodding way in hell anyone can justify that price point
I’m really upset, I love Street Sharks and am always buying them when I find them at cons and retro toy stores. But this price point and the availability just goes beyond what I can justify paying. I was a big collector of MotU Classics, but those felt like a better deal to me. Idk I really want these, I really like the designs, but they have priced me out. Hope there’s a cheaper, easier to get alternative down the road. Great review as always, Dan!
Awesome job dan.
These new figures will go well with the vintage SS line, but for $75 a piece, I will not be getting them.. I sure wish Mattel would give us a new toyline for SS. By the way, nice review PixelDan.
If these were $50 or less then resellers would buy them all and I'd still have to pay $75 or even more 🤣😂
Cool video Dan
looks really cool with the shell closed
A lot of us have been asking for street sharks, but not like this lol
It'd be great if they could do something similar to Neca where the characters are cartoon accurate or at least more stylized with modern articulation. I'm sure people will still pick these up, but it's a big miss for me in terms of proof of concept for an updated line.
The hangtab baggy is a mysterie 🤔
I love that
I see those Inhumanoids behind you Tendrill and Metlar, very nice!
A company the size of Mattel doing high end collector stuff is kind of odd, but people seem to be buying them, so I guess they know what they're doing.
I feel like the SS license belongs over at Storm Collectibles, they use that same rubber material that the original line used
I’m excited street sharks are back! But these characters are a little off, should have kept more original because these won’t sell so good and Mattel will cancel this cool idea!
Street Sharks was a pretty jawsom show in my opinion
As someone who owned the originals as a kid, I think you did Mattel a tremendous solid by putting this abomination in front of a camera for them. I agree with the sentiment that $75 is way too much for what they’re putting out, but you’re too nice sometimes, Dan 😂 I can’t believe they thought this was a good idea. Nostalgia sells, sure, but these do a disservice to us street sharks fans.
Ouch!!! I thought Super7 was expensive. At least this figure has really good paint.
Good video, Dan. I have to agree that the sofubi vibe makes sense when you mention it. My only speculation about the poly bag with the header card is to play into that designer toy/sofubi aesthetic aswell. It is a bit seedy for a big company trying that out. I get that price point if it is a limited run, and alot of unique tooling was created to do so, they need to recoup the cost as much as possible. It may be a passion project like many of the Matty collector lines, but this does have a bit of a pre-torn jeans feel to it.
Mattel just give us rereleased versions of the 90s toys and/or updated versions. I would also accept modernised versions made by Super7 or even McFarlane. But this ... wtf Mattel you finally bring back my dream line and you give them an absurd price, release obscure characters and make them old school.
That Clambo I will repaint it to look like the one in the tv-series.
welp rip my childhood for 75$ heck no i wait for a clearance
Fun Fact: Clambo was the name of the clam enemy in Donkey Kong Country
There's a new breed in the neighborhood,
Some say they're just no good!
Half shark, half man!
Fighting evil, that's the plan!
Street Sharks! Street Sharks! Street Sharks!
Oh, they're jawsome!
They bite, they fight!
And they stand for everything right!
They bite, they fight! Chewin' up evil with all of their might!
Street Sharks! Street Sharks! Street Sharks! Street Sharks!
They bite, they fight, they stand for everything right! Street Sharks!
Man. This is such a cool idea. I love unreleased stuff getting another shot like this, but damn. $75 is A LOT!! These will likely sell out and it’s definitely going to be a niche collector item, but I feel like a lot of Scalpers are going to have trouble unloading them for a while.
Does certainly look like sofubi. Is it vinyl? If that's the what they are going for, the pricing is actually on the level. I'm just not sure that's the proper way to go as I don't think there's much of a crossover market there in either direction.
I liked it and thought about getting one but not for that price.
You were spot on. They were trying to do a sofubi type vinyl figure and many of the Indy ones are packed in a bag and hang tag like what they provided but even that’s dumb since you can’t open it etc.
Does this mean we'll get a ressurection of Biker Mice From Mars? Hopefully with more reasonable prices too!
It’s so cool, would like to get my hand on one, but for me personally that $75 price tag is too high.
I can't believe it's $75
imma give dan a like 4 this one very clear review and no $75 2 steep
I mean right off the bat, I am excited...loved this franchise. Problems arise, when we consider the brand, "Street SHARKS". That is a clam or something, not a shark...he is not a street shark and never will be. Call him what he is, a Glam Clam.
Looks sweet at $75… for the whole wave. 😂 they’re crazy. Honestly, I would have a hard time justifying them for even that $40 price you mention. MAYBE for the sharks, for sure not for concept characters that I care nothing for. 🤷🏽♂️
HA HA HA omg . that's gotta be one of the silliest, wildest, insane things I've ever seen.. Oh the figures pretty wild too.. $75 Lmfao... hell to the nah
Care to add I had almost all of the Street Sharks and their materials (mainly the solid plastic that made their legs) were super hard, and the figures themselves were super heavy. Ironic to see a "solid waist" wobbling like that and hearing it's lightweight....I'd pay $30 *tops*.
The prices on figures were already out of control, but they just leveled up big time. I like the idea of these, but easy pass on the price and look of them for the most part.
Get Brian Flynn to tell you why it's NOT overpriced and you should be HAPPY and lucky to pay that much for it.
What happened to Mattel reviving Dino-Riders?
"After my time"? I think I am actually older than you and I watched them. :) I still have Rox on my desk here.
I really like the figures. I think they are great. The limited articulation doesn’t bother me, they are supposed to be similar to the originals. The price point is a bit high, they should have increased the production run to decrease the price and make up revenue on volume. I’ll be getting them. In the long run, I think people are going to regret not getting these. The price of materials is not going down anytime soon due to shortages. If we see new lockdowns from Delta variant, good luck buying quality new toys period for a while.
You can see that Ripster is Jabber Jaw w/ muscles.
I'm sure that most of us will pass. And I'm sure Laura Legends will have some in her collection as soon as it's available. LOL
My OCD can't get past that typo in the backstory. "Aminated", indeed.
Still have the Jab car, remember they used to vary in price from $8 to $18
I am a Street Shark fan, but yeah the price is the big sticking point.
that bag it came in resembles the bags Designer Kaiju and Sofubi or whatever you want to call itis packaged in, and I feel like and they made nods to and drew inspiration from that sector of toys with this Clambos colors, weapons and proportions so maybe thats why it comes with the bag?
I stay with TMNT-Neca, Thundercats-Super7 and MOTU-Mattel. I was waiting for these two lines of toys... street sharks and silverhawks... two big disappointments for me! 😫😫😫
Hey are you going to do the wind raider review soon for the new origins line. I have been waiting for it! I wanna see your take! @pixeldan
I'd rather put that 75 into transformers and diaclone. Even at 50 I would consider buying this but 75 is way off the mark
I agree with Dan. I would like some of the main characters first in not so designer style. I looooved the series as a kid and I still have a good amount of the figures and some animation cells. If they want to do the desinger line fine. I just hope we get some lower price point and new stuff in stores and maybe spark some interest for Netflix or a new generation to love. I think it would do well.
Another thing about the price point. People pay crazy money for street sharks vintage already. So I'm sure the toy company knows how starved the fans are for new stuff. kinda shady in that sense but miiigghht be what they have realized.
The paint deco is incredible, but the sticker shock is real with that price point.
Used to love street sharks. This is def new. But wow 75 bux idk dude. Marvel legends has my wallet hating me right now enough as it is lol
These look dope. I have no idea what street sharks is though :)
They are like the mnt but sharks! From 90s.
@@dang75790 works for me :)
I'm trying to collect as less as I can but when I saw that street sharks are back I was worried cause I loved them so much back then that I feel I wasn't going to able to resist and buy then but now I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed by the figures, honestly I would have bought them but after seeing that price I think I'm kinda glad that I won't have to buy this, basically the models and prices are ridiculous.
With Street Sharks returning, I wonder if their TV series will get a reboot. Monster High also returned, and I remember reading about the movies getting a reboot, but I'm not sure if that's true.
Always felt the cartoon and toys was a Turtles clone cash-grab. It seems nothing has changed in 25 years.
There is no way I’m paying $102.57+ AUD for just one figure
I'm still waiting on the Greg "The Hammer" Valentine figure Hasbro never released but advertised. Mattel creations is bringing back the retro line, so maybe.
Fantastic.
I usually only love super articulated figures but for some reason even though it barely moves I want this haha buuuut so expensive for a figure like this. It's very strange.
The scale and aesthetic design of Clambo will surely fit right into Super 7 Ultimates! TMNT line but the lack of articulation will show like a sore thumb. And the price is really a bummer to those interested in it.
I wonder if the sales of these figures led to the new Street Shark figures being greenlit for its anniversary line.
Love the street shark toys back in the day but my god that price tag was way too high and sadly I only found out about this almost a year later.
Do they have plans to reboot Street Sharks & Extreme Dinosaurs or maybe remake it?
$75? woof. I love street sharks, but not that much, man.
Dan, you’ve never made a video on your feelings of the new Netflix MOTU. I’ve been dying to know your opinion on the series after all the negative feedback
Good luck waiting for that.
I think he hates it but doesn’t want to criticize bexise he’s scared Mattel won’t send him free toys for reciew
I know what that plastic bag is for, it’s for later when you realize you paid too much and now you need something to resell him in lol! Wtf Mattel!
No wonder it’s $75, it has a magnetic clasp!
If not, they would easily be worth $15
