Well Mattel may not be sending Laura any more free figures to review anytime soon, but she keeps it real and honest in her critique. And that’s what I appreciates about her.

I grew up with Street Sharks and loved the cartoon as a child. I collected tons of the toys, hand puppets, vehicles, etc and only a few survived the past 20 years. I also have the comics. But these are... weird. I'm not sure who they're trying to capture with these and at these prices they may have seriously hurt the line right out of the gate.
Ya I feel if they were like $50 they would be more appetizing, but I feel like with their designs they really decreased the size of their target market
@@LauraLegends Yup. And due to that they may go "See, no one likes Street Sharks anymore! No one wanted these, cancel the future concepts!" and then they kill future Street Sharks toys.
I don't think they're really trying to start a "line" though. They're just doing a handful of high end collector pieces. With a 1000 piece run, the market is going to have a hard ceiling either way.

Clambo is the only one of the set that resembles the classic style..especially without the rubber..I mean come on, a clam is rubbery to begin with

not the worst idea to go through original un used sketches and make runs of them
They are trying to do them in the Japanese Sofubi style and not the original Street Sharks style which may turn off some fans. If you don't know, the Japanese Sofubi figures are often very limited soft vinyl figures. They do mostly come in bags like the one included in this set. They can also be hundreds of dollars for one especially if it's a special limited color version. So I feel they felt the price is justified because if you are comparing them to the Japanese figures, it's actually less expensive then some of those but I think this may hurt their success in America because of this higher price point that North Americans are not used to.
The bad news is there may enough census for a revival of this awesome 80s toy line to come back because people aren’t going to shell out the claims. Hopefully Mattel or someone like that can reproduce them like they did with he-men, ghost busters etc.
also my attitude changed towards the Krakass figure when I noticed he's meant to be a school of piranha because no single piranha is dangerous alone. And as a Street sharks fan I wanna gush vent on how happy I am they made a Clambo figure. When I was a kid I would collect clams from a local lake, I had about a dozen that made it to pet status. So I waited so patiently for the clam guy to come out lol. I learned to draw redesigning him and the rest of the characters as toys, I've still got a pile of those designs in a folder somewhere. I was like in first grade so they weren't great lol I wonder if mattel would be interested in designs made by an actual kid in the actual 90s

It's like the Neca Toon Turtles line. On one hand it's incredibly great to get show accurate guys with a lot of accessories, but availability and aftermarket prices almost make it a judgement call. It's really just how deep you get drawn in.
But that's (theoretically) not really NECA's fault.
They (for some reason) seem to think their stuff is easily available, and they're really only $25 each, which is wildly reasonable.
This is the company itself making them LUDICROUSLY expensive, and CHOOSING to make them limited.

Ripster looks more like Jabberjaw than a Street Shark
That was my thoughts exactly, not worth the $75. It's to bad though, I was really looking forward to Street Sharks in 2021.

The bad guys in the original line were always more colorful than the heroes to me. Dr. Piranoid was absolutely neon.

The whole nostalgia angle has become a method for toy companies to justify ripping off people with high prices. ReAction figures used to be $10 each and, honestly, that was a lot for what you got. But now they are $17.99 for pretty much the same thing. I've been collecting action figures since the 1970's and love that they make obscure characters to fill in the missing blanks in our collections. But these prices are too much. Thanks for your honest review.

The original villian characters like Slobster, Slash, and Piranoid were all hard plastic and did not have the rubber feel though.
This all day! I've been trying to tell fans who actually still have the toys, to really feel the weight and material of the villains. Yes the price is bad but Clambo is perfect, colours maybe a little garish but he has the right size, articulation and a gimmick (opening shell).
Plus much like Killamari his toy looks nothing like his animation version, so for me he could have easily come out in 94' and that's why I've ordered one.
Sofubi, almost all japan kaijus are made of that material (blow plastic) and they painted with that fade technique and crhome fade colors 🤓
Hmm. I wonder what Vin Diesel would think of these releases. Would he think they were as Vintastic as a... HAND SHARK!

I think it's cool that the figures are based on unreleased concepts from back in the day and that they scaled them appropriately..
That said,they're to expensive for what they are and they don't have the look of the original design. It's like they couldn't figure out which market they were trying to service here

Laura is my favorite legend.
This feels like if Marvel printed a few dozen copies of a twenty-page zine and charged $40 each. It just doesn't sit well with me, whatever the actual quality of the product. Besides, I was more of an Extreme Dinosaurs kid.

I believe Japanese sofubi is expensive because it's a small run and they are hand painted and hand pulled. Not sure if these were hand painted though

Clambo does look the coolest it's cool that they're making the street sharks that were never made to add to anyones street sharks collection. I would buy them if i had the original street sharks toy line like you but on ebay ppl are asking to much for them even the ones incomplete. If i'm going to pay what they're asking i want 'em 100% complete. As always Laura great review and video see you next time.

Street Sharks needs to have a reboot cartoon and a new toyline and probably a tie in mobile game. That would bring the prices down to where I can afford a Clammando.

I buy imports like Mezco, Damtoys and 1000toys that cost a little more as imports but you get alot of accessories. These are not worth $75 for being domestic to US buyers.

Great review, Laura. I totally agree with you on the cost seeing how you don't get the collector's number. It's hard to pay over $90 CND for any figure plus shipping. Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat figures are incredible but we shouldn't have to pay $130 for the latest Reptile figure. Looking forward to your next video, cheers!

Yeah Sofubi figures come a plastic bag. I guess they gave you a bag to make it look like it came in one.
I don't know how to open the bag lol maybe there is a secret little opening that I missed

They are overpriced art pieces. $30-40 max would have been acceptable prices. It’s sad in my opinion.

If you think these are expensive, check the prices on some Funko pops that are limited to 1000 units. Those are junk. These new Street Skarks were a bargain considering the small edition size.
