The bulls and cows story is just a lesson in forgoing instant gratification in exchange for long term gains.
Gunga din is a poem about a Hundu that carries water for british soldiers.
@20:20: she is trying to explain how transference works in therapy. It is very common for a patient to develop feelings for their therapist or dreaming about him/her. It is indeed a positive sign that the work is moving forward. She is handling it very professionally.
The second story means take your time, don't rush in and you'll get more out of it
So when you charge a group of cows you might only get one. But when you walk towards them you dont scare them away. Its an analogy of dealing with people.
Every time Mary's husband tries to say something sweet, I just imagine she rolls her eyes while finishing his sentence.
Shy means loan sharking, named for shylock from Mr Shakespeare
Mary most episodes are as deep, complex and thought provoking some much more, trust me when I say you are in for quite a ride!
I liked your analysis of the relationships that tony has. I always thought that this was the first head on exploration of tony's issues and it is amazing how melfi was able to unravel him without losing control too much. Great reaction!
Capo is just Italian for "captain"
It's Italian for 'head' as in capital, per capita etc. Capitano/a is the rank of captain, depending on gender.
For context: Large meaning a thousand bucks... a point on something meaning you have to give x percent of every income generated to somebody..in this case shy which is shylocking
1:10 that's it... true sopranos fan
Great reaction mary. I hope you had a wonderful first mothers day, its weird when we become the receiver on those days. Ill never forget my first fathers day, i was so wrapped up in getting my dad a gift and spending time with him that i completely forgot that i was now part of that group until i got home later that day. I am so happy that you are doing this show and i knew you would enjoy all the nuances that it has. Until next episode then, take care and belated Happy Mothers Day.
Gunga Din was the "regimental bhisti" in Kipling's poem. That was an Indian who carried water for the British (and "a better man than I am", per Kipling's narrator). Actually you should react to the 1939 movie starring Cary Grant.
Always enjoy watching along with you and especially so with The Sopranos, love this show.
I might have posted this recommendation before but the show - Mr. Robot is worth adding to your list.
A small suggestion, the music playing alongside your end of show/movie analysis, it is in competition with your voice and a little distracting. I don't know if having the music volume dropped slightly would benefit or maybe slower paced background music? It might just be me though :)
One point = 1%
Shy = Shylock = money lending
What a great episode.
"Gunga Din" is a character in a poem by Rudyard Kipling
ruclips.net/video/B_rcX8axfFI/видео.html
The poem was also made into a movie several times.
"So who is this guy?" I mean it says JOHN on his nametag! :P
Lol you are gonna friggin LOVE this show
You need to watch "Gunga DIn". One of the greatest movies ever.
At 23:00- When you said, "I was thinking the same thing." I almost did a spit-take! 😆 (how is there not a spit-take emoji btw?)
😗💦 could be it 😆
Disney Trilogy:
The Love Bug 1968

You were a girl when I started watching your channel but now look at you! Grown with a family!
Words like boy and girl are not exclusive to children. In some contexts, people might take exception to it (usually people with insecurities of some variety who feel they need to prove something) but most people don't take issue with boy and girl in most contexts, unless there is a disrespectful or condescending context to it.
Especially in contexts where it is just designating sex "I'm a boy, you're a girl" or "She went to the girl's room"(restroom) it is very normal to say.
Now, while saying "Hey, you're a girl, what do you think about *blank*" is fine, addressing someone as "Hey Girl" or "Hey Boy" is likely to be seen as disrespectful and may start a fight depending on context.
Haha! American story writers getting you to love a monster!
Awesome reaction of my favorite The Sopranos episode!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
You say that about every episode.
@@cshubs Well then, I guess each episode must be better than the last. So, each episode becomes his favorite.😄
It's like with Peter Gibbons in _Office Space_ that ever since he started working, each day was worse than the last, meaning every day is the worst day of his life.😄
@@theflyingfisherman7829 It's a perfectly good theory. 🙂
500 large is 500k,and 2 points is 2%
And shy refers to the interest charged by loan sharks
@@orlandocast7941who are often known as Shylocks.
This should have been learned in _Breaking Bad._
Jesse: _"35 large for the pound, yo."_ (which was the rate they sold it in the show)
Tuco: _"$52,000. 25 points vig."_
Walt: _"Vig?_
Jesse: _"Interest, weekly."_
@@chaddnewman2699 which came from the character of a Jewish lender in Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice". That whole 'pound of flesh' thing.
19:40 the priest is harsh but he is correct within the Catholic belief, the religion both him and Carmela claim to be devout followers of. Carmela should have more respect for herself as a wife and not allow Tony to cheat, plus she knew he would do this before they married.
it’s not exactly cheating though if it’s part of the life like she’s not gonna change that especially if he’s the boss… BUT THAT BEING SAID, Johnny Sack and Carmine Sr didn’t have any so it IS possible…
and catholicism has some good but is also full of hypocrisy, control, child abuse&worse… like all religions but catholicism is sadly one of the most corrupted…
the fucking cows joke is funny and instructive. Re-listen and you'll get it.
❤❤❤
Gunga Din was an Indian waterboy
👍
Mary! When ya gonna try BoJack Horseman?? Some reaction channels are just wrapping it up and we die hard BoJack fans need some new content with awesome reactors!
If I am not mistaken this is a first apperance of Johnny Sack. What a classic character, true mafioso, and one of the very few that stayed loyal to their wives. Could be a great old school leader, but as he one said, his fucking temper, and with time got drunk with power. Anyway he, and Carmine are the role models for Tony I think, Johnny less, as he is "a friend", but still, had class, and the show showed the difference between "floryfied crew" and a "mob family".
9:27 Welcome to being a man xD
Please continue with the Star Trek franchise.
That's hilarious 😂
The Sopranos takes a couple of seasons to really get going, but it gets a lot better.
Livia is such a piece of work. Mother of the year, she's not.
tremendous character though.
Algorithm comment
At the time the Sopranos was showing there was some debate - mostly Christian Right type people - complaining that shows like this - and Dexter, which also ran in the same period - were going to cause “moral decay” as they were making violent criminals sympathetic characters.
It was a debate that was well aired across US Network TV shows - largely because they were terrified of such shows. Cable TV was not bound by the same restrictions as broadcast, and the networks knew shows like this could seriously hurt their viewing figures.
Your new intro and outro music is like diarrhea in the ears. 😖
