Shout out to the editor. They got a sense of humor.
Seeing that scene with Jackie where all he can think about is taking his temperature is so real. I had a friend who was dying of brain cancer. A few of us drove up several hours to see him in the hospital. It really was like we weren't even there. He was lucid, but he was completely in another world. He died about a week later.
Calling a house or apartment "cozy" is used as a polite euphemism for "very small"
Mary, it's funny that you said you thought the show was about singing. Because the girl playing Meadow also thought that when she first auditioned.
😂 That's what I came to say, nearly word for word!
My comments, I am so glad you are watching and enjoying this. It's really great for a long time. I've been watching you for a long time and you are still doing great.
Super excited you are liking the show can't wait to spend the next year or so watching this whole series with you.
the blue moon in the opening song is about the round mirror on your side view mirror. Mobsters always watch the rear view mirrors in their cars as do truck drivers.
its a really good sign that you love this show already.. because guess what... its gets a LOT better.
Yay I'm glad youre enjoying it! It remains one of the greatest shows, such a good mix of characters who are well acted, and little side stories and some serious theme. But then somehow also has comedy at times.
It gets even better in every season coming 👍👍👍
Steven Spielberg ova hia

Yes a "blue moon" is when you have two full moons in a month, but that's why "once in a blue moon" is an expression to mean something that happens rarely.
Dr. Melfi asked Tony if he felt like a Frankenstein. The old hasidim called him a Golem.
Frankenstein was the doctor though
@@_BangDroid_ Looks like Dr. Melfi didn't know that.
I think Chase really wanted to write a series about a middle-aged man's going through a crisis where all his unresolved issues vis a vis his parents, relatives, spouse, children, work, etc. get too much for him. It would be based on his own life and feelings. He has said in interviews that Tony's problems are all things from his life, including what is indeed almost hate for his mother. However, if you're Italian, or even if you're not, that's a tough sell. That's not what Hollywood wants from you. So, he cloaked it all in a mob story. Thus was a classic born.
It's cool that your editor discovered the zoom feature, but maybe a little more sparing use would be a good idea 😅
I disagree, those closeups are hillarious. Cracks me every time.
It's quite distracting especially when the resulting close-ups are very grainy. Otherwise the editing is really solid.
17:48 A Bris is the Jewish ceremony of circumcision.
A Mohel (rhymes with "boil") is the person who performs it.
A temperature of 98.6° F is considered normal. 99°F is borderline, and 100+F is a high fever. 102°F is dangerously high (40°C).
Such a wonderful show! Glad you're checking it out! It's a work of art. 🚬 🥃
Keep a note of that painting and how it pissed Tony, it's like the first seed of how Tony internalizes and compartmentalizes his stress and trauma around death and the life he lives. It's also the first seed of another aspect of the show that's an undercurrent that's widely debated about in the Sopranos fanbase ("f**king Q***rs!", Paulie Walnuts).
Mary Tony isn't the boss only a captain, the guy with cancer I can't remember his name is acting boss. And junior is only a captain too
Officially, yes. But Tony has become known as the one who "really runs things" after Jackie got sick.
@@darth856no or else they would not have had the sit down with Jackie and later junior and Tony talk about who would be leader
Btw... David Chase spent a fortune on musical rights for the show. Songs are selected for very specific reasons. They’re not just used to fill time. Great you have the captions on to see the song lyrics. Treat them as part of the script because they are. You’ll miss vital insights if you don’t focus on the song lyrics/meaning too.
“All Through the Night” is a centuries old Welsh folk song. They didn’t select such an old song for Meadow to sing for no reason. Huge breadcrumb here that leads a trail all the way to the final episode.
my favourite music is the outro in Pax Soprana, and season opening with Sinatra It Was a Very Good Year, but there is a plenty well suited music there.
Lol you're going to love this show.
This show is barely about mobsters but more about the modern malaise of suburban life and depression.
Sopranos is a unique mix of comedy, drama, and crime. I always like to watch how people seeing it for the first time react to it.
Chrissy is for sure lucky that he's helped Livia that one time.
HEY Mary, did you notice that the girls "Meadow" was showing signs and side-effects while she was singing?
they were, and it is funny that Tony did not notice that, as he is around junkies all the times (the eyes alone showed).
But theh, as you probably remember, there will be a scene in the future where he will be not able to notice what is wrong with AJ face :D, so he problably does not look closely.
Btw... the “trick” paintings that Tony found depressing ... emotionally what did they have to do with the ducks?? Both paintings look like someone was just there & then suddenly ran off. Just like his ducks suddenly ran off.
98.6 degress F is considered normal for humans and 102 is a fairly bad fever but not that uncommon, 104 is getting hospital time
Subscribed to see you go on this fantastic ride of a series! Buckle up!
Gabagool time!
I haven't seen this since it originally aired on TV, and I'm surprised by how early Christopher's friend made his exit. I could have sworn that happened closer to the end of the season, if not season 2, which makes me wonder what other parts of the show I'm remembering incorrectly.
The deep messaging never ends. It’s why the show is so appealing & gets more appealing over time. Actually gets deeper & more philosophical as the show goes on. Some episodes are so intense it will very hard to watch. Very hard!!
Often the storyline is advanced in song lyrics & not just the script. “All Through the Night” is one of those songs. The writers are clearly linking Meadow to this song. Understand what the song is about & you’ll understand what Meadow is all about.
That's a shame, I was hoping to see your reaction to Tony calling Shlomo "ZZ Top" 🤣
What I could do for more Sopranos uploads....
Meadow's friend Hunter is David Chase's daughter, Michele DeCesare. David Chase created the Sopranos, is the executive producer and wrote many of the episodes, and directed the first and last episodes. DeCesare was the Chase family name before his grandmother changed it.
Skankarella is his daughter? Did not know that.

In an episode about Jews. Tony wearing his "robe of many colors" this EP.
I'm not American so I can't exactly be sure if there is some weird cultural thing about revision and beds. But I expect it's just a TV trope. One show may have shown this at one point and it caught on to be a way to show someone studying because that's how others show it on TV etc. Hard to know for sure but usually here (UK) it's done at a desk or on a sofa with a laptop etc. I find this to be more likely than the impracticality of a bed as a work surface being common place as TV tropes are much more prevalent in the US TV shows compared to ours, we do have tropes but they're just not as numerous or set in stone as say the tropes in US comedy for example.
Yes. Two full moons in a month is a “blue moon.” On average once every 33 lunar cycles.
"Out of Sight" is from a book by Elmore Leonard, who also wrote "Jackie Brown" (1997). The two stories share characters, who are also played by the same actors. You should watch "Jackie Brown" before watching "Out of Sight"
"Bris" = a ceremonial Jewish circumcision.
"Mohel" = a Rabbi (Jewish priest) who performs a Bris
I woke up this morning….
And then I watched this video
I actually read that in the intro melody haha
Not calling out Tony's nip slip 😂💀
You edit the show like it's a sitcom.
As for the other shows you might consider, Severance is very interesting and not that well known as it is on Apple. Second season should be landing at the end of the year I think.
Succession is also a good pick.
Oh no Mary you're gonna do THIS to me? I'm 2 eps from the finale with my other favorite reactors and you're gonna make me START OVER?! Ok.😂
Wait until you try HBO's "Deadwood"
A Mohel is a Jewish rabbi who performs Bris the Jewish rite of circumcision
Why did you block the meat on Tony’s face???
3 episodes down, 83 to go!
What do you think about reacting to two episodes per sitting, Mary?
Otherwise, we're gonna be here for a few blue moons -
Hey someday go to series sweet tooth it's amazing ❤❤

You think what you see in American movies and tv shows is what every American does? lmao don't get me wrong I've seen plenty of Americans study in bed (due to it being a lot more comfortable than studying in a chair at a desk for hours on end) but I also have plenty of friends that studied at a desk or kitchen table.
Another comment. Watch Peaky Blinders. I think I know your taste by now.
+1
Yes Mary, we have desks. We also study at the library or even sometimes at the kitchen table. You said, "What I don't get about American things is how they always..." then proceed to roll your eyes and make a mockery with a complete assumption you just made based on what you saw on a TV show. You've been one of my favorite channels for quite some time, but these America comments have become more frequent, they are almost always irrelevant, and they are always negative. You have a lot of American fans you know, why not just watch the shows and enjoy the content together with all of your fans without judging minor differences in culture?
They are common in the EU. I myself am often mystified by what I see in the American popculture as a "normal" life. Sure, it is not the exact representation od real life, but makes you think nevertheless. Like the whole arcs of "no show jobs" that will happen, just for the mobsters to have insurance ect., or the plentifull extra credit activities (like the chorus singing) just to pump up your "CV" in the recruiting process to the university. That does not happen in every country, and do not be so sensitive. Pointing out differeneces is not offensive.
The Sopranos is a little overrated, but it gets a lot better after the first season.
Oooohhhhh!
