    Dude! So many golden nuggets on this presentation... I was mindblown by something as simple as the opacity feature on the area lights, which I had never tried before (dumb me) and using a gradient texture to blur the light edges. So much to learn... Thanks Drew!

    3 minutes in and I was already hooked. This may be basic to the advanced users but to me this was a diamond. Thank you so much!!

    Great presentation!! Another great tip is to use to the Path Tracing Kernel instead of Direct Lighting for more realistic (GI and volumetric) light.

    There are light pass ids in octane now, so you can hide objects from specific lights using octane object tags

    great talk drew! at t=1687 you mentioned using all those gpus (via network rendering) would be more or less the same as using redshift on one computer in terms of renderpower. i'm a senior artist and familiar with redshift but what did you meant exactly? cheers, oskar.

      Hey Oskar. What I'll try to explain better what I meant. I made an HDRI lit scene with various shaders in Octane (Render A). Then Set up an almost identical set up in Redshift (Render B). Render A (rendered in Octane) took me ~1 minute a frame with 20 total nvidia 1080ti. Render B (rendered in Redshift) took me ~1 minute a frame with 4 total nvidia 1080ti.
      So rendering in Redshift has to potential to be MUCH faster than octane.

    any tips for layer color mattes (RGB) but for many objects, say 10 or 20, rather than just 3?

    I am hearing only good things about Redshift... Is it time to switch or should i stick with Octane and wait for V4 ?

    • @phat80
      @phat80 6 лет назад

      d t Redshift is faster but it still lacks a couple of features Octane has. And what about Cinema 4D I think Octane’s integrated more deeply.

      I think what I've seen is that Redshift is missing a lot of the nodes octane has... I might be wrong though
