I think if Victorinox would add an 84 mm proportioned pair of scissors to the original or Alox Bantam, they'd have a near perfect edc knife. Small, light, and very pocketable.
@@quakeroats533not really, the compact is longer and has other tools. Think of something the size of a cadet, but with just the bantam tools plus scissors.
Hey Ben, so glad to finally see you review the Bantam. My silver Alox Bantam is by far my most carried SAK as it lives in my wallet. With it's razor sharp blade and multi-function tool, I find it to be minimalist perfection. Always a conversation piece, and always there when you need it!
I may have bugged you about this already, but check out the Victorinox “evolution” line. They are 85 mm and have some of the old Wenger-style tools. My favorite part is that most models have a locking blade option. There is even one specifically designed for children the “9 Junior” which has a blunt-tip locking blade, wood saw, nail cleaner and Phillips.
Bantam is a great knife! I have a bunch of different saks with multiple layers, but bantam stands out. When you don't really want to be prepared for armageddon - grab your phone, keys and bantam and you good to go)
Love the bantam. My edc most of the time. If I'm in the outdoors or doing something mechanical, then it is my Leatherman wave. But the bantam is a light, simple, classic pocket knife.
This is something that id buy!!!! It's simple and minimalist. I especially like the combo tool, both screw drivers and both can n bottle opener. Or I'll go all the way for a special mechanic or master electrician cuz this are the tools I would want but then the surge is there for that. (Yet to buy)
Great review! I really like my corkscrew, eyeglasses screwdriver, and plus scales, so I went with the Compact. The scissors are super handy too. For 1 more layer you get quite a bit more. You're right though, not a bad knife for a starter.
I recently picked up the bantam in alox it's almost too thin. I think a 2 layer "bantam x" with scissors in alox would make the perfect companion/backup tool.
I know this is totally off topic. But could someone answer a question I have about my leatherman wave+? Great multi tool. But the players “stick”/ain’t as smooth when opening/closing them while using them. Does it just need some lube or what? Thanks
I can understand the love and hype for the Bantam Alox but if you want a Cellidor, single layer, knife then the Waiter should be the obvious choice. Add a mini screwdriver and a pin and you’ve got 12 tools on an 84mm.

I agree. So like the „compact“ but as Alox

I've carried a tinker for years and I love Victorianox knives. I'm going to have to get this knife for sure 😊
Yoo tx tool crib back at it again!!

The Bantam is an excellent back up tool, to attach to the inside lanyards of a backpack
Bantam is fantastic, such minimalistic knife. I am using alox version as a back up blade 👍

And it's inexpensive to boot.
Can't beat simple design in the sak world. Great video 👍

I wish the combo tool was available on more SAK models

Try giving it some 3 in 1 oil and working it in.
Bantam Alox has no keyring attachment feature.
Esp in the Alox, has spoiled me rotten.

Thr best knife is which you carry with you. Its size is very suitable to carry with you
Agree. Most of the time, don't need all of the other stuff (have a super tinker that i don't edc).
