Prestige M8: The Biggest & Most Expensive Prestige EVER!

  • The Prestige M8 is the most ambitious boat to ever wear the Prestige badge. With an exterior of 130 square metres, an interior of 140 square metres and a beam just shy of 30ft it is also, by some margin, the biggest boat that the French brand has ever built.
In this in-depth walkthrough tour, review and sea trial, Jack Haines gets to grips with this behemoth of a power catamaran, which according to Prestige has the interior volume of an 80-90ft monohull.
On board, there is the option to have four or five cabins, the galley up or down and sleeping space for up to six crew members. The owner’s suite is simply spectacular and occupies the boat’s full beam with space for a study area, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with a separate shower and toilet cubicle and twin sinks.
The main saloon is vast and has a bar across the cockpit threshold which can easily serve those in the cockpit and saloon. An internal staircase winds up to the flybridge, which is equally spacious and comes with a hard top as standard.
In the engine room (s), there is a pair of Volvo Penta D8 600hp engines on V-drive shafts, which deliver a top speed of 20 knots and a cruising range of 350nm at 15 knots. At 8 knots it will cover more like 1,400nm.

About died when Jack Haines presents the fridge and whispers "Americans are you watching? This is for you." Literally laughed out loud, and as an American, I agreed. Also, I love how the video is edited to show different footage when he is opening the fridge and has sunglasses. It's not intentional. There was a reason for it I'm sure, but it brings out the USA vibes, lol. Great review.

    Brilliant review Jack, thanks!
It’s huge!! So much space for the length, and the extended VIP and master are stunning.
I always worry about mooring space with big wide power cats - is it easy to find somewhere to moor?!
The options list sounds expensive! £20k for some seats on the flybridge, £15k for a fabric sunroof or £140k for some solar and batteries! 🤢

    Highlights:
0:46 - The M8 is a big boat, and the name comes from its size.
1:23 - The cockpit area is beautifully open and feels like a proper terrace.
1:51 - The platform has a 500kg lift capacity, which extends the cockpit.
4:04 - The side decks are vast and nicely protected with top quality stainless steel.
6:03 - The flybridge is a good sociable area and works very well indeed.
10:05 - Galley forward layout on the boat gives it a mix of socializing areas.
12:40 - The boat has plenty of storage areas that are neatly put.
13:30 - You can fit proper lower Helm on this deck rather than having to go up.
14:00 - The boat has a standard dishwasher but it's a bit smaller.
14:15 - Impressive cooling space provided in the galley with a big double fridge and freezer.
20:00 - The owner's suite is massive with a walk-in wardrobe, a lounge area and study.
24:00 - The boat has a fantastic forward view with large Garmin mfds and a joystick for easy maneuverability.
25:05 - Electric steering is light and feels like it's on rails, turns tightly and behaves well at high speeds.
26:00 - The boat is an all-round package with head-turning features like the open cockpit, spacious accommodations, and storage, making it very effective for long cruises.

Fantastic, especially the outdoor space. I’m sure there are lots of options in terms of interior fit and design but to me the interior space on this example looks incoherent and bity - doesn’t flow or look particularly inviting. Buy hey, I’m thinking about my first boat with a budget of less than 1% of this boat so who am I to nitpick 😁

Loved the video - LOL on the day head door. LOL!! Hell Yea I'd think about this cat. Prestige is a well known brand with a good reputation. Beneteau knows how to make a boat and they are not going anywhere soon so your support is going to be there. New models always have there quirks so get the 2024 or 2025 models so they iron some of those quirks out if some of the rough edges bug you that much. There are only a few brands of power cats so a new brand is always welcome. And - you either like French design or not. I happen to like French design.

Cat's have space but they dont have the stunning looks of a mono hull and the square living space makes it difficult to lay out a dinette and saloon! The s72 is stunning as well i just like the extra interior space of the s78 as the princess sports yachts have huge exsterior space that eats up interior space! So the y72 flybride would have the same interior space of the s78 if that makes sense! God bless all and happy sailing all 🙏❤⚓🛥

Just like when Sunreef came out with the 80' and Sirena came out with the 88 and Horizon had th FD87, this will be all the rage for a while I think. I keep hearing about this, but then I heard they raised the price and also they just started building them in April. I like it. I still think there is room for improvements on the layout. Especially considering a 30ft beam is going to be hard tp find a marina that will accommodate you. The Horizon 60 is a better layout in my opinion

    • @brianmiller6443
      @brianmiller6443 11 месяцев назад +2

@gregorythoman9764 berths are designed for narrower beam boats. I own a 70ft boat. In fact marinas are designed for boats under 60 ft and 19 ft beams. Having a 65 ft cat with a 30 ft. Beam would require you to get a super yacht berth. There are far less of them and they're extremely expensive. Most yachts of 150 ft or less are under 27ft beam. Also Horizon yachts are built far better than prestige yachts. I have been on a lot of them. Prestige yachts aren't known for quality.
