CLIP DESCRIPTION:
While Michael (Lance Guest) blasts the shark with electical impulses that drive it mad, Ellen (Lorraine Gary) heads straight for the beast.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
This third sequel to the 1975 mega-hit Jaws returns Lorraine Gary to the role of Ellen Brody, widow of the Roy Scheider character from the first two films. When her son Sean, the current police chief of shark-plagued Amity Island, is killed by the beast, Ellen goes to the Bahamas to comfort her surviving son. Michael Brody (Lance Guest) and his friend Jake (Mario Van Peebles) are marine biologists there to help, but in the end it is up to Ellen and her new beach-bum love -- played by Michael Caine -- to put a halt to the fishy horror. Director Joseph Sargent concludes the series with an ending chosen from several alternate possibilities.

The shark roars, poking the shark makes it explode, that lady somehow has flashbacks to the original even though she wasn't in that scene, and Jake somehow survives. Great movie.
Why isn't anybody seeing that the shark is standing on the water with his TAIL???!!! I'm sorry but that is as obvious as the fact he roars.

One of the things that makes sharks so scary is that they *don’t* roar. They silently approach and rip you apart without you even realizing they were coming.

How did the original masterpiece lead up to one of the worst films ever made.
I am a Marine biologist and I can help explain. You see the Shark had eaten too many humans and when sharks eat that many humans they get trapped wind. That's why the shark was growling, it badly needed to fart.
Then when it got rammed by the pole the small electric device produced a spark causing the gassy shark to detonate.
i actually prefer jaws 4 over jaws 3

1:14 one thing I never noticed as a child watching this movie. They're doing this part of the film in a water tank. You can see the clouds are actually a matte backdrop and if you time it just right at 1:22/23 you can see the water rise in mini waves in the background as they strike the surface of the backdrop.

I've watched this movie many times since I was a little kid in '88, and I never noticed it until today (mind you I haven't watched this since the summer of '01). I did read though about how this was shot in a tank, and it's clearly obvious.

For those who ask "Why the shark explodes in a spontaneous way?" Here's the explanation:
This ending is the censored version, the uncensored version shows the shark being impaled alive but is very bloody and violent.
They show the same version of the shark dead and floating to the bottom of the ocean the same way the shark did in Jaws 1
Being impelled: too gory
Blowing up into a million bloody pieces: ok
That roar is from Tom and Jerry! When Jerry roars

I couldn't confirm it then, but years later I remembered and checked it up.
The short milli-second clip of the explosion (with the air bubble underwater) is from the original Jaws, as is the full clip of the bleeding shark sinking to the bottom.
It's like they ran out of money and just thought what the hell, we'll just steal a clip from this ultra well known climactic end scene from this huge super box office success.... Nobody's gonna notice!
Mikael Karlsson Actually, the original scene was going to include the shark stabbed through the gills from the boat's broken tip and then sink to the bottom of the ocean while bleeding and Jake dead but viewers demanded a different ending so they had to reshoot the death scene using the 1st shark's death scene from the 1st movie.

This movie was already a chore to get through, but as soon as the shark roared I literally had to pause it and walk away.
