wow! - tremendous; astoundingly brilliant! Bruce Harris, Benny Benack III - wow! I am bowled over, and, fell off my chair! stunning! You have breathed new life in to this evergreen piece.
He knew that emmet had to resolve to the V chord, it’s kind of common for cats of this level to play substitutions for the V chord. Emmet should’ve played a Bb maj7/C chord but he went for a half step below it but resolved to the V pretty craftily
@ in that case, he just had really good intuition. Bruce is a professional, he plays with others of his level of musicianship or better so I’m sure he’s learned/picked up certain rhythmic patterns
I hear it also on Giveton Givelin, a trumpet player that was also on Emmet's. I imagine that's because almost all the jazz trumpet players today have classical training, like Booker.
I believe taking off their shoes when entering the house is a thing. In many of the performances the players are not wearing shoes…go back and watch other videos.
well personally my feet sweat a TON when i play so i tend to take em off if possible lol. its not a disrespect thing, musicians do whatever helps to get in "the zone"
im sure you'd notice if it weren't there though, i feel like bass is sometimes more a vibe in jazz rather than something thats meant to be consciously listened to
bruces' entry made me grin like a fool
Yes the #11 on the solo break. I've watched it 20x, so perfect..
As well it should! Resonance is a beautiful thing!
Same its so good!
what is that quote from? it sounds like something I've heard, but maybe not...
bruce and benny playing some serious poetry on their horns! so inspiring!
this version of this tune is killer. all solos tight AF
Dizzy and Bird are happy now somewhere...
Peter Washington time master!
5:53 Pachelbel!
I think he was starting with Cool Blues and went into Pachelbel instead
@@DaMonster and some Carnival of Venice inspired thing at 6:30
Farnsworth is just so special!!!
8:52 amazing conversation
No way Benny just quoted Cannon in D
Thanks!
Too much fun. Love Joe Farnsworth 🥁

6:17 how theyre in sync!🤯
Joe Farnsworth is kinda insane like that
This was one of my favorite pieces I learned in high school. You guys knocked out of the park!
Yes, Emmet!!
Wow! Another stellar achievement by EC & company! Totally outstanding!
what a bop! great guys!
4:55 the lick
it's not the lick, only the ending is similar
If there was another charlie parker movie, this guy could totally play Dizzy Gillespie
4:14 Bruce is reading Emmet's mind
how did he know? is that a quote
@@bobthechimp5431idk tbh it feels like some kind of rhythmic vocabulary they all played so much it feels natural to them
Outstanding performance from all! these trumpets sound great together, the piano playing it's a piece in itself, complex and complete
two of my favorites playin one of my favorite tunes, what more can you ask for!
Joe Farnsworth rocks!!
Holy MF!!
BIG FUN!! thanks guys!
Good I love this
Joe Farnsworth , Peter Washington,Benny Benack, Emmet Cohen, what can you say. Greatness in the room
So good, , that Monday night was so cool
He looks like Dizzy too!
4:11 how did bruce know what emmet was going to play?
He knew that emmet had to resolve to the V chord, it’s kind of common for cats of this level to play substitutions for the V chord. Emmet should’ve played a Bb maj7/C chord but he went for a half step below it but resolved to the V pretty craftily
I meant the rhythm he showed with his hands
@ in that case, he just had really good intuition. Bruce is a professional, he plays with others of his level of musicianship or better so I’m sure he’s learned/picked up certain rhythmic patterns
I hear Booker Little's influence in Bruce's sound
I hear it also on Giveton Givelin, a trumpet player that was also on Emmet's. I imagine that's because almost all the jazz trumpet players today have classical training, like Booker.
Awesome!
Totally awesome
Peace to my main man Todd Barkin in the back!!!!
Solid 👌🏾
Benny sure is digging himself digging jazz.
😂
What trumpet and mp is bruce using, looks like a Monette silver mp?
Trumpet looks like a Bach 180 LR
Stunning fiery grooved
benny's killin'!
💯💯
7:05 kaboom
LOL
Great performance of a Charlie Parker number.
I think the one trumpet player saw the talented Mr. Ripley to many times, and glad to see a rhythm section here, swinging like they should.
Si sente poco il contrabasso
3:09
Sheesh.
I love the music, but I can't get over the fact that the drummer looks amazing and the guy in front of him didn't even bother to wear shoes...

Second trumpet solo was cool 😎 he looks like the president of Ukraine 🙂
😳
The phrasing at 1:09 is sooooo fat 🤤
yamaha win!!
the contrabass is hardly heard
im sure you'd notice if it weren't there though, i feel like bass is sometimes more a vibe in jazz rather than something thats meant to be consciously listened to
There is no sound🎶
