    "The expression steep learning curve is used with opposite meanings. Most sources, including the Oxford English Dictionary, the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, define a learning curve as the rate at which skill is acquired, so a steep increase would mean a quick increment of skill.[5][23] However, the term is often used in common English with the meaning of a difficult initial learning process."
    Translation: Austin Baraki speaks for the common man, while Jordan Feigenbaum speaks for academia

  • @ryans3628

    Learning curve = the amount of learning necessary to understand a subject or accomplish a task in a given amount of time. The more that needs to be learned and/or the shorter the given amount of time increases the steepness of the curve. A flat learning curve either means that a person has nothing to learn or that they fail in learning anything. (Jordan is correct if the person already knows what needs to be known or doesn’t learn what needs to be learned, Austin is correct if the person needs to learn and does learn.)

    Great stuff Jordan, thanks. Will your online coaching course be part of the upcoming certification process? I'm very interested in getting a BBM certification. Will the certification(s) only be for very experienced coaches (like SSC) or will there be a formal education/training path through BBM for beginner coaches? I think some type of training for beginner coaches would be so helpful, instead of trying to fumble through that process alone. Isn't the goal to spread this type of training methodology to the broadest population, rather than being a select fraternity of 125 coaches? I get that having a firm understanding of the material and lifts is very import, but a 10% pass rate seems like it would be a disservice to the masses. I hope you guys can find a good balance.

    Quick question if anyone can help me, with the Barbell Medicine templates, in the GPP, it has back work and Ab work usually a 5-10 min AMRAP, do I do these on all of the days in the program? Or just once a week each? For the cardio and arm GPP work it states either 1/week or 2/week but doesnt mention for the back and ab stuff. Cheers!

    This bugged me: Jordan and the learning curve: Effort on the y-axis, learning on the x-axis. Steep curve: More effort per "unit of learning", aka harder.

    • @louderthangod
      @louderthangod 5 лет назад +1

      wir3 I think most would use learning over time and a steep curve would have a small change in time (x) resulting in
      a large change in learning (y).

    • @wir3564
      @wir3564 5 лет назад

      You sir, are correct. It seems the term is most comonly used to describe the relationship between learning and experience, making steeper = faster.

    • @perman07
      @perman07 5 лет назад

      What you described would logically be called an effort curve. Jordan is completely correct if you take the word "learning curve" literally. However a steep learning curve might still be present without an accompanying feeling of increased mastery if the subject you're learning is complex enough that you're only learning fractions of it.
      This analogy requires too much mathematics to be worth exploring honestly, you can't even quantify learning like this.
